  • Ford transit connect enhances appeal for fleet operators with best-in-class fuel efficiency and 1.0-tonne payload

    Ford Transit Connect1

Ford today announced enhancements for Transit Connect, offering customers best-in-class fuel efficiency and introducing a 1.0-tonne payload for the first time.

Class-leading fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions will help minimise fuel costs for operators and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Transit Connect light commercial vehicle now offers up to 2,501kg gross vehicle mass (GVM) on selected variants, increasing the maximum payload to 982kg 1 and improving productivity for owners and operators by enabling them to carry heavier loads.

Ford is also introducing a new high-end Limited series in selected markets, offering a stylish exterior and premium interior specification for customers desiring a more exclusive vehicle.

“Transit Connect is already popular with fleets across Europe, and the latest enhancements make it even more compelling,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Commercial Vehicles, Ford of Europe. “Reducing emissions and fuel costs while improving payloads helps fleets transport more cargo or fit extra equipment while maintaining maximum efficiency.”

The new updates feature for the entire Transit Connect line-up, with deliveries of the enhanced models to Ford dealers due from mid-November.

    Optimised fuel efficiency and payload
No light commercial vehicle in its class delivers better fuel efficiency than the Transit Connect – helping businesses to save on operating costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

The best-selling Transit Connect model – the L1 Trend – delivers 68.8mpg fuel efficiency and 109 g/km of CO2 emissions NEDC (55.3mpg, 134 g/km WLTP) 2 using Ford’s advanced 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel engine with a choice of 75PS and 120PS power ratings, and a six-speed manual gearbox. New, low rolling resistance tyres further contribute to optimised fuel efficiency.

Ford responded directly to customer feedback to enhance the Transit Connect’s load-carrying capability and offer an improved payload of up to 982kg – an increase of 79kg over previous versions – with no compromise in versatility or fuel efficiency. Optimising wheel and tyre configurations as well as removing the dual passenger seat option contribute to the increased payload allowance. The dual passenger seat option remains available for derivatives with lower GVM.

Customers requiring the 2,501kg GVM and 982kg maximum payload can still choose from a range of powertrains to best suit their operating requirements, including 100PS or 120PS 1.5‑litre EcoBlue diesel engines with six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions – for effortless and refined load-hauling.

Ford has also approved its range of 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel engines for use with HVO fuel following a comprehensive testing programme to ensure servicing and performance would remain unaffected.

    Limited series now available
A new Limited series for Transit Connect introduces distinctive design features including 16-inch Sparkle Silver alloy wheels as well as body-coloured wing mirrors, door handles and side mouldings. Drivers also benefit from heated seats, auto lighting and rain-sensing wipers to make long shifts at the wheel less demanding and more comfortable.

  • Volvo cars safety experts say: use technology to support drivers and reduce distraction

    ????????????????????????????????????????

The rise of smartphones and touchscreens inside cars has sparked a growing debate around the dangers of distraction behind the wheel. But Volvo Cars safety experts say that distraction is a fact of life, and that technology should be used to support people in their daily commute.

The company’s own safety research and behavioural science work suggests that when used correctly, modern technology inside the car can actively reduce distraction, boost road safety and help people to be better and more focused drivers.

“It is easy to think that phones and screens are the only scourge of the modern driver, but life as a whole is distracting,” said Malin Ekholm, Head of the Volvo Cars Safety Centre. “We know people do not get distracted on purpose, but it happens. You could be late for daycare and somewhat stressed, or you get behind the wheel after a bad day at work – all this affects you as a driver.”

Malin Ekholm made these and other remarks during a special Volvo-organised webcast around safety this week. During this first Volvo Studio Talk, which can be viewed on demand HERE, she and other safety advocates discussed distraction and several other pressing road safety issues.

Some would say that from a distraction point of view, a car from the 1940s is safer than today’s cars – after all, it does not contain a screen, phone connectivity or even a radio. But that is not how today’s drivers and society operate.

“The reality is that people want to engage with friends, family, work and entertainment, and everyone responds differently to distraction,” said Malin Ekholm. “So we want to meet our customers where they are, not where we want them to be. That is why our focus is on using technology in the right way, so we can use it to help you stay safe behind the wheel.”

Volvo Cars actively uses technology to combat the dangers of distraction and build some of the safest cars on the road. For example, its active safety systems with autobrake and steer assist are designed to be on guard to help drivers if they lose concentration or are distracted for a split-second.

Inside the cabin of the new XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, an advanced voice control on Volvo Cars’ new Android-powered infotainment system allows drivers to control the temperature, set a destination, play their favourite music and podcasts or call their mum on her birthday – all while keeping their hands on the wheel.

“Being able to control key features on your Volvo by voice allows you to keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road,” said Malin Ekholm. “Active safety systems such as City Safety, Run-off Road Mitigation and Oncoming Lane Mitigation with Steer Assist can act as an extra pair of eyes watching over you.”

Volvo Cars believes that distraction should also be addressed via in-car cameras and other sensors that monitor the driver. With such technologies, if a clearly distracted (or intoxicated) driver does not respond to warning signals and risks a serious, potentially lethal accident, the car could intervene.

That intervention could involve limiting the car’s speed, alerting the Volvo on Call assistance service and, as a last resort, actively slowing down and safely parking the car. Volvo Cars plans to start introducing these cameras on the next generation of Volvo’s scalable SPA2 vehicle platform.

  • Citroen Berlingo named ‘best large car’ in autocar ‘Britain’s best cars awards’ 2020

Copyright William Crozes @ Continental Productions

Citroën’s popular Berlingo Leisure Activity Vehicle (LAV) has added the ‘Best Large Car’ title to its ever-growing list of achievements in Autocar’s very first ‘Britain’s Best Cars Awards’. The panel of expert judges described Citroën Berlingo as “the most practical, likeable new car we can think of” as it was praised for its exceptional versatility and spaciousness – the key criteria for this award category.

This latest accolade for Citroën Berlingo is even more impressive when you consider that ‘Best Large Car’ is one of only ten vehicle categories in the Autocar ‘Britain’s Best Cars Awards’.

Since its launch in 2018, the third-generation Berlingo has won multiple awards, including What Car? ‘MPV of the Year’ 2020 and ‘Best Medium Family Car’ in the Parkers ‘New Car Awards’ 2020.

Autocar’s ‘Britain’s Best Cars Awards’ have been designed to highlight the very best mainstream vehicles on the market. This year, the awards ceremony was a standalone online event, but there are plans for it to become part of the main Autocar Awards that will recommence in May 2021.

Autocar Editor, Mark Tisshaw, said: “A large crop of buyers will love the Berlingo’s no-fuss demeanour and extreme practicality. In its latest iteration, the Berlingo is made better by the new availability of Citroen’s excellent 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine or a choice of ultra-clean diesels. In some combinations you can have an eight-speed automatic gearbox, too.

“Citroen has taken the wise decision to equip top-end versions with all manner of life-enhancing equipment – low-speed automatic braking, head-up displays, climate control aircon, rear vision cameras and much more. A well-specified Berlingo is one of the most comfortable (both in seating and suspension quality) cars on the road.”

Citroën Berlingo offers class-leading interior space, five or seven-seats and impressive boot volumes (up to the parcel shelf) of between 775-litres on medium (M) and 1,050-litres on XL versions, alongside a low load sill and uniform shape to the load area.

Eurig Druce, Managing Director at Citroën UK, commented: “We are so proud to see Citroën Berlingo named ‘Best Large Car’ in the first year of the Autocar ‘Britain’s Best Cars Awards’ – particularly as Berlingo won through in one of just ten vehicle categories available in these new awards. All of our vehicles are designed with our customer’s needs at heart and Berlingo has always been a popular choice for active families, and that’s because of its comfortable interior, spacious layout and overall practicality.”

  • A swift facelift for 2021

    2021 Suzuki Swift Hybrid Facelift1

Following on from its launch in the Japanese domestic market, Suzuki Motor Corporation unveiled the Swift for Europe at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show as its all new global compact supermini and it has now been facelifted for 2021 with an enhanced 1.2-litre engine and hybrid as standard as well as further standard equipment updates. In addition to its stylish exterior design in a compact size of just 3,845mm long, the Swift  features excellent visibility, a spacious cabin and ample luggage space.

Standard equipment for all models in the range is even more comprehensive than before and the new SZ-L model includes air conditioning, rear view camera, Radar Brake Support with Adaptive Cruise Control, smartphone link for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB radio, leather steering wheel, privacy glass, LED Headlamps, LED rear combination lamps, polished 16-inch alloy wheels and front electric windows.

The SZ-T adds grey painted 16-inch alloy wheels, Dual Sensor Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Weaving Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitor, Traffic Sign Recognition and rear parking sensors.

SZ5 adds Navigation, 16-inch polished alloy wheels, automatic air conditioning, keyless entry and start, telescopic steering wheel adjustment, rear electric windows and door mirror side turn indicators. Swift is available in one solid colour and six optional metallic colours with three dual tone colours incorporating a Black Pearl roof also available optionally.

    K12D ENGINE TECHNOLOGY
Suzuki first introduced its 1.2-litre Dualjet technology (K12C) in 2014, this engine is now replaced by the new K12D Dualjet unit which offers greater fuel economy and even lower CO2 emissions. The maximum power output is 83PS with a torque figure of 107Nm at just 2,800rpm. Acceleration time to 62mph from 12.2 seconds.

    HYBRID TECHNOLOGY ACROSS THE RANGE
Fuel efficiency is further enhanced when paired with the self-charging hybrid system powered by a new lithium-ion battery with capacity upgraded from 3Ah to 10Ah to improve energy recovery efficiency.

Available as standard equipment for all Swift models, the upgraded 12V Hybrid system is a compact and lightweight unit that incorporates an Integrated Starter Generator (known as ISG) which acts as both a generator and starter motor, the ISG is belt driven and assists the engine during vehicle take off and acceleration and also generates electricity through regenerative braking.  In situations that require higher fuel use, such as when starting from a standstill or accelerating, the hybrid system helps suppress fuel consumption by providing electric motor assist using electricity generated through regenerative braking.

For the Swift with 2WD and manual transmission the Hybrid system helps Suzuki reach a CO2 emissions figure of just 111g/km (WLTP regulation) plus achieve a fuel consumption figure of 57.2mpg (WLTP) on the combined cycle.

Swift Sport Hybrid with 48V system and new K14D Boosterjet engine was introduced earlier in 2020 and is currently the only self-charging warm hatch model amongst its competitors.

    CVT GEARBOX
Suzuki’s CVT powertrain is available as an option on the facelifted Swift SZ-T and SZ5 models with 2WD, and is combined with the 1.2 Dualjet Hybrid powertrain. The CVT system can vary the actual gear ratio continuously and stepless from low-speed to high-speed range depending on the driving conditions. The CVT offers seven step gear programmes and allows improved driveability with reduced shift-shock in comparison with a conventional automatic transmission.

Gear programmes can also be selected manually up or down via steering column mounted paddles.

    FURTHER SAFETY ENHANCEMENTS
The Swift SZ-L active safety equipment includes a Radar Brake Support (RBS) system.  When travelling above approximately 3mph and the system detects a risk of collision with an object in front, it warns the driver to apply the brakes. At higher speeds and if it senses the possibility of a collision, it warns the driver with a buzzer and also via a notification on the multi information display. The system warning can also be set for either Far or Near distance via a button on the dashboard.

    SZ-T AND SZ5 MODELS
    Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS)
The advanced forward detection system supports numerous safety technologies, chief among which is collision-mitigating Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS). With DSBS, at vehicle speeds from approximately 3mph to 62mph, if the system determines a risk of collision with a forward obstacle, it issues both an audio and visual warning. If there is a high risk of collision with a forward obstacle and the driver panic brakes, the system deploys brake assist, increasing braking force.

    Vehicle Weave Warning
When the vehicle is travelling at vehicle speeds of approximately 37mph or above and is weaving from side to side within a lane, the system sounds a warning buzzer and lights an indicator on the instrument panel. This quickly draws the driver’s attention to weaving caused by drowsiness or other factors.

    Blind Spot Monitor
Lane changing at speeds above 10mph is now made safer with the addition of the Blind Spot Monitor function. The system has two rear mounted side radar sensors that are capable of detecting vehicles located in or approaching the rear blind spots on either side of the vehicle. Once detected, a warning LED icon is illuminated in the relevant exterior mirror. If the driver ignores it and indicates to change lanes, a flashing LED icon is accompanied by a warning sound alert.

    Rear Cross Traffic Alert
At speeds of up to 5mph whilst in reverse, two rear mounted radar sensors are utilised to alert the driver of approaching vehicles on either side when reversing out of car parking spaces. If a vehicle is detected, the driver is given both a visual alert and a warning sound alert. This enables the driver to manouevre more safely out of parking spaces where vision may be obscured.

    4WD (ALLGRIP AUTO)
The Swift Facelift adopts Suzuki’s ALLGRIP ‘AUTO’ four-wheel drive system which is available optionally on the SZ5 model with manual transmission only. This is a well proven and simple fully automatic and permanent four-wheel drive layout which transfers additional torque to the rear wheels when required via a viscous coupling. It is also an ideal choice for customers living in rural areas who may need additional mobility across rougher terrain or for crossing slippery surfaces during winter months without owning a more conventional SUV sized vehicle.

With lightweight components and available in combination with the 1.2 Dualjet Hybrid powertrain, Swift ALLGRIP Auto models have impressive fuel economy of 51.7 mpg and low CO2 emissions of just 123 g/km (both WLTP combined).

DISPLAY AUDIO SYSTEM WITH NAVIGATION AND SMARTPHONE CONNECTIVITY
The audio system for all Swift Facelift models has a smartphone link capability, with a large seven-inch touch panel display that enables intuitive operation of selected apps with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto or MirrorLink. SZ5 models also include navigation as standard, while for customers choosing SZ-L and SZ-T an SD card upgrade is available as a dealer option which enables built-in navigation.

  • Golf GTI wins first ever ‘best all-rounder car’ title at inaugural Autocar Britain’s best cars awards

    The new Volkswagen Golf GTI

At its inaugural Britain’s Best Cars ceremony, Autocar gave the Golf GTI its ‘All-Rounder’ award, praising the model for its ability to, in the words of the publication: “tackle every journey, task and occasion you can think of – not least keeping its driver interested.” Merit was awarded for versatility, practicality, space, agility and compactness, as well as performance and value, driver engagement and desirability.

The judges praised the Golf’s everyday usability, its fun-to-drive appeal, as well as the solid basis – the Golf 8 – from which the GTI is born. Praise was also given to the subtlety in which it communicates its special status to the world.

Available in the UK from £33,460 RRP OTR, the new Golf GTI is offered with both 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG transmissions, and continues to feature the built-in blend of agility and comfort that has become synonymous with the model since its introduction, with enhancements introduced for the eighth-generation bolstering this appeal. The new Vehicle Dynamics Manager system, for instance, controls all of the Golf GTI’s electromechanically adjustable running systems such as the XDS electronic differential, alongside the new locking differential and optional adaptive dampers.

The Golf GTI has been a pantheon of versatility and all-rounder capability since its introduction in 1974, garnering millions of fans across the world for its ability to bring the thrills of sports-car like motoring into an altogether more affordable, versatile and reliable package. Autocar readers have previously voted the Golf GTI as their ‘Readers’ Champion’ in 2017, while the publication named the Golf its ‘Used Car Hero’ in 2019.

Elsewhere in the GTI range, the up! GTI was recently given the ‘Best Value’ title by The Sun, and ‘Value Car of the Year’ by TheSunday Times, while the latter also named the Golf its ‘Family Car of the Year’, as well as its overall ‘Car of the Year’ accolade.

Mark Tisshaw, Editor of Autocar, said: “No single car has done more than the Golf GTI, over eight model generations and more than 40 years, to demonstrate how ready people are to pay a premium for a hatchback of extra-special status and abilities, from which they know they can get their money’s worth in everyday use.

“It’s a car with an extra, more visceral layer of driver appeal than its predecessors, but it’s still a pragmatist at heart. It’s the kind of hot hatch that remembers the need to be a family hatchback and just blend in from time to time – a hot hatch with an off switch for driving granny to the shops. Which is why our Best All-Rounder winner can only be the brilliant Golf GTI.”

Andrew Savvas, Managing Director at Volkswagen UK, said: “The Golf GTI personifies the ’people’s car’ philosophy for which the Volkswagen brand is famous. Take a Golf: the benchmark compact family car described by many as ‘all the car you ever need’. Now add just the right amount of power, performance and driver engagement to the already crisp-handling standard car, and you’ve got a model that offers an entertaining driving experience, personality in abundance, performance aplenty yet also supreme everyday usability.

“The recognition being given to the Golf and Golf GTI by experts means so much – especially when in a category that encapsulates the model as much as this one. The GTI’s versatility, fun-loving spirit and iconic status are key to its appeal, and why it has been the go-to driver’s car for so many, for so long.”

  • Skoda loads up with Autocar silverware as the new Octavia is named best family car 2020

    skoda1

New for 2020, the Autocar Britain’s Best Car Awards aim to highlight the best options for buyers in a range of categories. Unlike other awards, the Autocar categories are not price or size based and take a broader look at what customers are looking for when buying a new car.

The Autocar judges praised the new Octavia for its remarkable practicality, refined driving experience and value for money with Autocar road test editor Matt Saunders commenting: “It’s comfortable, spacious, well-finished and well-equipped and it has really strong, refined and economical engines. Stress-relieving family transport doesn’t get better than the Octavia Estate.”

The new Octavia went on sale earlier this year and has already proved itself to be a worthy successor to the multi-award-winning third-generation model. Bigger, more practical, and packed with more technology than ever, the new Octavia delivers even better value and raises the bar for cabin space and quality. The all-new model is longer and wider than its predecessor, has an even larger boot and showcases the latest evolution of ŠKODA design language. The new interior combines class-leading practicality with outstanding functionality and high quality materials. Innovative connectivity features and new assistance systems further highlight the brand’s commitment to delivering the best possible value for money to owners.

The Octavia launch range will be expanded before the end of 2020 with the arrival of new mild-hybrid e-TEC variants, along with a plug-in hybrid Octavia iV model. A new range of vRS models will be added to the line-up and will include the brand’s first-ever electrified vRS model – the vRS iV – along with petrol, diesel and four-wheel drive variants.

  • Iconic pair of Restomod muscle cars head to auction

    muscle1

Not one, but two impeccable and iconic American restomod muscle cars are being offered at auction with the original online classic car auctioneer, The Market, giving petrolheads a rare opportunity to acquire possibly two of the most stunning and powerful examples of classic Americana available today.

Bidding will start on a 1970 Ford Mustang SVT Terminator Cobra on 2nd November and start on a 1974 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, on 3rd November with both auctions closing a week later. The cars are estimated to fetch around £90,000 – £120,000 and £85,000 – £100,000 respectively.

“Both of these beauties in their original form are genuine motoring icons, guaranteed to set pulses racing,” comments Tristan Judge, director, The Market. “However, the extent of work, detail and expense that has been spent on their modernisation, meaning that their new owners can enjoy thrilling modern day performance and iconic classic looks, takes them to a whole new level and makes them utterly desirable.”

A true Blue Oval thoroughbred, the Mustang’s modernisation combines the classic original looks of the 1970s original with many upgraded components from the 2003/4 ‘Terminator’ Cobra developed by Ford’s in-house SVT team.

Now fitted with a 2.6-litre Kenne Bell supercharger, the tuned 4.6-litre V8 petrol engine delivers a mighty 688bhp, up from its original 390bhp, which is capable of powering the car to an estimated top speed of over 180mph.

Indeed, the entire 21st century Ford engine, drivetrain, chassis and suspension remains intact as per its original design, meaning it delivers stunning performance guaranteed to deliver many smiles per mile.

Meanwhile, finished in striking Mopar Snakeskin Green, the Dodge features a number of custom engineering upgrades designed to bring the very best out of this classic. Hosting a modern Dodge Hellcat engine with a jaw-dropping output of 707bhp, the car’s raw power has been complemented with a custom suspension setup from Control Freaks, ensuring it performs as well as it looks.

“To be able to offer just one of these stunning restomods would be fantastic, but to have a pair of such quality is a real rarity,” adds Judge. “The cars’ new owners will be able enjoy the unique blend of iconic classic looks with modern day supercar performance and handling. While these types of cars certainly have a niche appeal, given the genuine quality and craftsmanship of their transformation, we expect bidding to be highly competitive and we wish all bidders the very best of luck.”

  • A performance-focused showcase of Bentleys for Goodwood Speedweek

    Bentleys1

Bentley is set to take part in this weekend’s Goodwood SpeedWeek with a showcase of performance-inspired models that together represent the sporting ethos of the brand. Combining the very best elements of the Festival of Speed, the Goodwood Revival and Goodwood’s renowned Members’ Meetings, Goodwood SpeedWeek will take place on 16 -18 October 2020 at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit.

Bentley is taking this opportunity to showcase three performance-focused models, debuting the agility of the new Flying Spur V8 and the power of the Bentayga Speed in their global public debuts, and demonstrating the extraordinary dynamic and visual performance of the Continental GT V8.

Looking to the future, and inspired by Bentley’s deep understanding of its forward-thinking customers, the EXP 100 GT concept car unveiled last year on the company’s 100th birthday embodies a future vision commensurate with Bentley’s status as the world’s most sought after luxury car brand. The award winning concept car will be on display at SpeedWeek with a dedicated report on the car to be live-streamed on Sunday morning.

Global Debut of the Flying Spur V8
Based on research, customer feedback and trends of customer usage, the new Flying Spur V8 has been engineered to deliver driver-focused ability, whilst offering passengers the refinement, comfort and technology expected from a grand limousine.

The Flying Spur V8 offers a more driver-centric experience via increased agility and a more characterful engine note, whilst benefiting from increased range between fuel stops and a reduction in CO2 emissions.

The Flying Spur V8 is 100 kg lighter than the W12 version, making the vehicle feel more agile and responsive with a distinctive personality of its own. The new model includes the latest powertrain and chassis advancements: Adaptive Air Suspension, Torque Vectoring by Brake, Drive Dynamics Control, and Electric Steering, all of which are standard features. Furthermore, customers can add Bentley’s pioneering 48V electric active anti-roll technology (Bentley Dynamic Ride), and Electronic All-Wheel Steering for even greater agility.

At the heart of the vehicle is Bentley’s 4.0-litre, twin turbocharged V8 engine, which produces a peak power of 550 PS (542 bhp, 404 kW) and uses twin-scroll turbos to reach its maximum torque of 770 Nm at just under 2000 rpm

The 90 degree “V” configuration, cross-plane crankshaft and eight perfectly balanced cylinders give the engine its characteristic and unmistakable V8 engine sound and the impressive power output provides a 0-60 mph time of 4.0 secs (0-100 km/h, 4.1 secs) and a top speed of 198 mph (318 km/h).

The Flying Spur V8 will be driven in the First Glance class by Bentley’s Head of Chassis Mechatronics, Andrew Unsworth.

    The Most Powerful Bentayga
The new Bentayga Speed takes the Bentayga’s extraordinary abilities to new levels, utilising the 6.0-litre W12 twin-turbocharged engine that delivers peak power of 635 PS (626 bhp). Effortless acceleration is always guaranteed thanks to 900 Nm (664 lb.ft) of torque, available as a plateau from 1,500 rpm to 5,000 rpm. The assembly of the W12 powertrain takes the skilled engine builders approximately ten per cent of the total hours required for the manufacture of the Bentayga Speed.

With exceptional performance, comfort and handling, maximum speed is 190 mph (306 km/h), while the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint is delivered in 3.9 seconds.

To match the elevated levels of performance, the Bentayga Speed sports a purposeful exterior look. Dark-tint headlights, body-coloured side skirts, unique front and rear bumpers and a striking, elongated tailgate spoiler characterise the Speed’s performance credentials. Dark-tint radiator and bumper grilles, a unique 22-inch wheel design available in two finishes (painted and dark tint) and Speed signature badging add to the sporting design cues.

At the rear, the exhaust finishers are now the oval design that signifies a W12 powertrain. Dark-tint tail lamps complete the Speed exterior signature.
For SpeedWeek, the Bentayga Speed wears a livery featuring Bentley’s Beyond100 future strategy – more details of which are to be revealed soon. It will be driven in the First Glance class by former Bentley Boy, and winner of the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans behind the wheel of a Bentley Speed 8, Guy Smith.

Continental GT – Extraordinary Power and Style
The third-generation Bentley Continental GT combines spirited, focused performance with handcrafted luxury and cutting-edge technology, to create the finest Grand Tourer ever produced.

The muscular exterior design, created using revolutionary technology, results in a lightweight, yet stiff, body. The engine is positioned further back to improve weight distribution, resulting in driver-focused, dynamic performance.

The Active All-Wheel-Drive System varies the front-to-rear torque split dependent upon the driving situation, and the vehicle will use rear-wheel drive as much as possible during normal driving for optimum efficiency and dynamic performance. Based on the conditions and the driver’s behaviour, the system will also send drive to the front axle as required. This reduces the understeer effect from fixed all-wheel drive, as well as increasing driver engagement for those who revel in the dynamic attributes of the Continental GT.

For those wanting to emphasise the sporting credentials of their Continental GT, the Styling and Blackline Specifications are available. Crafted by hand to exact tolerances following an extensive development programme, the Styling Specification includes a front bumper splitter, side skirts with metallic Bentley badges, rear diffuser and boot lid spoiler in high gloss carbon fibre increases the vehicles presence and muscular aesthetics. Blackline Specification replaces all exterior chrome brightware with gloss black versions.

For customers who already own a Bentley, the Styling Specification can be retrofitted via any Bentley Dealership.

The Continental GT V8, finished in stunning Orange Flame, will be driven in the Supercar class by Bentley’s Functional Manager for Vehicle Dynamics, Andy Marson.

The Future of Luxury and Grand Touring
The Bentley EXP 100 GT concept car was born from pure Bentley DNA and inspired by the company’s deep understanding of the desires of its intelligent, forward-thinking customers. Beautifully styled, it embraces Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a means to reassert the car as a place for creating, experiencing and capturing extraordinary human experiences and emotions.

Designed from the inside out and taking advantage of an all-electric platform, Bentley EXP 100 GT reimagines the Grand Tourer for the world of 2035. This is a world of shared luxury experiences where passenger and driver enjoy equal status in their enjoyment of their extraordinary journeys. The car’s presence and impressive exterior proportions are reminiscent of many of Bentleys’ historic Grand Tourers. The result is a future vision commensurate with Bentley’s status as the world’s most sought after luxury car brand.
