  • 2014 Cadillac CTS – US Price $46,025

Cadillac has announced the pricing of the all-new 2014 CTS, which starts from $46,025 including a $925 destination charge. This is around $6,000 more than its predecessor, but there is a significant reason for that.

The 3rd generation CTS sedan grows, ascending into the heart of the midsize luxury market, with an all-new design that is longer, lower and leaner. The new CTS is five inches longer, expanding interior space, but also 244 lbs lighter than the previous model. It is expected to be the lightest car in its segment.

The standard equipment includes a CUE Infotainment system, an 11-speaker Bose premium audio system, Brembo brake system, Magnetic Ride Control and 18” alloy wheels fitted with low-profile tires.

    The engine range includes a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 272HP (203 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, a naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter V6 with 321HP (239 kW) and 373 Nm (275 lb-ft) and a turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 with 420HP (313 kW) and 583Nm (430 lb-ft).

The top-of-range CTS V Sport model is priced at $59,955, and comes equipped with an electronic limited slip differential and 8-speed automatic transmission in RWD only.

  • 2014 Cadillac XTS V6 3.6 liter Twin-Turbo – 410HP and 500Nm

The 2014 Cadillac XTS is now offered with a powerful 3.6 liter V6 twin-turbocharged petrol engine.

It is coming from the mighty CTS, but slightly underpowered (10HP and 82Nm) or in other words 410HP (306 kW) and 500Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. The 2014 XTS fitted with this engine comes with a slightly different front grille and a badge on the lid.

Other highlights include automatic parking assist and electric power steering for the FWD models. There is also a passenger seat with memory, Intellibeam headlights, revised rear-seat armrest and a sunroof sunshade.

XTS is the only luxury sedan with standard Magnetic Ride Control – the world’s fastest-reacting suspension – while the advanced all-wheel-drive system uses Haldex technology with an electronic limited-slip differential to transfer power front-to-back, and side-to-side, along the rear axle. It is available on all three collections.

The twin-turbo engine is a comprehensive upgrade on the 60-degree, 3.6L DOHC V-6 that is offered as the standard engine in the XTS. However, almost every component is unique. New features include:
    – All-new cylinder block casting
    – Strengthened connecting rods
    – Machined, domed aluminum pistons with top steel ring carrier for greater strength
    – 10.2:1 compression ratio
    – Patented, integrated charge air cooler system with low-volume air ducts
    – Two turbochargers produce more than 12 pounds of boost (80 kPa)
    – Vacuum-actuated wastegates with electronic control valves
    – All-new direct injection fuel system
    – Tuned air inlet and outlet resonators, aluminum cam covers and other features that contribute to exceptional quietness and smoothness.

The cylinder heads are also unique to the Cadillac Twin-Turbo. They feature a high-tumble intake port design that enhances the motion of the air charge for a more-efficient burn when it is mixed with the direct-injected fuel and ignited in the combustion chamber.

  • 2014 Cadillac CTS Reveals New Design Approaches

2014-Cadillac-CTS-THUMBWhen one looks more deeply at the 2014 Cadillac CTS he or she reveals that some new design approaches have been applied on it. We are speaking here about the new form and function of the headlamps.

The new luxury sport sedan combines light-emitting diode and high intensity discharge lights in order to create a sleeker new “face” for this Cadillac model. In particular, the CTS sedan includes 16 indirect fire LED lights on each headlamp with eight LEDs beginning on the fender of the car and an additional eight LEDs continuing down the front bumper. The eight LED lights on the front bumper also double as a turn indicator.

As a matter of fact, all of these LEDs when combined together operate as a single day-time running lights. The main headlights or the projectors are composed of a single HID element that serves as both low and high beams. In addition, the Active Forward Lighting delivers more clear vision through corners by turning with steering direction.

2014 Cadillac CTS was recently introduced at this year’s New York International Auto Show. The model delivers expanded performance, elevated luxury and sophisticated technology. This is the third-generation CTS. It combines engineering and design solutions from the architecture of the ATS sport sedan and will be the lightest car its class.

  • Cadillac Twin-Turbo V6 in 2014 CTS Sedan

Cadillac has released full details of a new Twin-Turbo V6 coupled with an 8-speed gearbox. The powertrain will be introduced with the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS midsize luxury sedan debuting next week at the New York Auto Show.

The Cadillac Twin-Turbo V6 is the most power-dense six-cylinder engine in the midsize luxury segment – a 3.6L with 118 horsepower per liter (88 kW/liter).

“The new Cadillac Twin-Turbo brings a new dimension of technologically advanced performance to the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan,” commented David Leone, executive chief engineer.

“Delivering power and sophistication, it marks another large step forward in the product-driven expansion of Cadillac.”, he added.

The power is 420HP (313 kW) and 583 (430 lb-ft) ot torque at 2,500RPM. The engine has 15 % greater power density than BMW 535i’s turbocharged 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged engine. However, we need to mention that BMW has introduced this engine many years ago, when General Motors didn’t have slightest idea, how to create super power-dense engines.

The new CTS will accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.6 seconds  and has a top speed of 274 km/h (170 mph).

The new Cadillac Twin-Turbo will expand the performance envelope of the upcoming 2014 CTS midsize luxury sedan, launching this fall in the United States. The engine will also will be offered in the 2014 XTS large luxury sedan this fall.

The new engine is a comprehensive upgrade on the 60-degree, 3.6L DOHC V-6 offered in today’s SRX, XTS and ATS. However, almost every component is unique. New features include:

    • All-new cylinder block casting
    • All-new cylinder head castings
    • Strengthened connecting rods
    • Machined, domed aluminum pistons with top steel ring carrier for greater strength
    • 10.2:1 compression ratio
    • Patented, integrated charge air cooler system with low-volume air ducts
    • Two turbochargers produce more than 12 pounds of boost (80 kPa)
    • Vacuum-actuated wastegates with electronic control valves
    • All-new direct injection fuel system
    • Tuned air inlet and outlet resonators, aluminum cam covers and other features that contribute to exceptional quietness and smoothness.

The 2014 CTS sedan will also feature the naturally aspirated 3.6L V-6 rated at 321 horsepower, as well as a 2.0L turbocharged engine rated at an estimated 272 horsepower.

  • Cadillac Adds Two New Limited Edition Models To The CTS Range

Cadillac-CTS-V-Coupe-Silver-Frost-THUMBMatte-finished Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Silver-Frost and the performance-inspired Cadillac CTS-V Stealth Blue are the two new limited editions that the Cadillac will add to its CTS line-up.

In particular, the Silver Frost Edition will be a special run of 100 CTS-V Coupes that will include a special low-gloss matte paint finish. This special paint finish will be available on collector-edition vehicles.

The model will be equipped with the 6.2L supercharged V-8 engine which develops 556 horsepower (410 kW) and 551 lb-ft (747 Nm) of torque. The Silver Frost CTS-V model will also include the following optional equipment: yellow or red Brembo brake calipers, high polished or satin graphite wheels, suede-covered steering wheel and shift knob.

To be even more precise, the desired finish on the Silver Frost CTS-V coupe was achieved by applying a “30-gloss” clear coat to the paint. In comparison, in standard paint finishes is used the “80-gloss” clear coat. However, the paint will still emit a low “sparkle” when certain lights reflect off it, but the finish will be distinctly “matte”.

An important note here is that although the visual appearance of the car is perfect, in order to stay such, this Cadillac model should be hand-washed only. This is because the paint is engineered to be as durable as normal paint. And in addition, because the paint texture is also noticeably different to the touch (finish will be slightly less smooth).

On the other hand the Stealth Blue Edition has an outstanding new color in a more traditional metallic finish. This model will have a limited production run starting in March and will be available on the CTS coupe and all CTS-V models. What is more, the CTS coupe, V coupe and sedan models will be also offered in an optional “Twilight Blue” leather interior package.

Some of the optional highlights included in the Stealth Blue CTS model are: satin graphite wheels with silver calipers, dark finish grille, recaro performance seats.

D2Forged-Cadillac-CTS-V-FMS-11-THUMBD2Forged Cadillac CTS-V FMS-11 is a truly unique family car. Simply very few other cars in the same class can show the same style and luxury as this one. And even more, the Cadillac has new one-of-a-kind set of shoes, thanks to the work of the specialists from D2Forged Wheels.

The road presence of the vehicle is now greater than ever, because of its new forged FMS-11 Wheels, which break any boundaries that can be imagined. This undoubtedly will bring more pleasure to the driver and occupants, while enjoying the ride. Cadillac CTS-V draws its power by the 6.2 liter supercharged V8, which can generate up to 564 ho (415kW) and 747Nm (551 lb-ft). This means that it easily accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h for only 4.0 seconds on its way to the top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

  • Cadillac ELR Luxury Coupe to Debut at NAIAS

2014-Cadillac-ELR-THUMBAn exciting new vehicle which is going to make its world debut on 15th of January at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is the 2014 Cadillac ELR extended-range electric luxury coupe.

Cadillac has just teased the general public with the image above, showing the flowing lines of their new luxury coupe. As a matter of fact, the car will be based on the Cadillac Converj Concept, which was a revolutionary luxury EV.

In addition, the new ELR will combine a dramatic design with industry-leading extended range electric vehicle technology in a unique luxury form.

However, definitely expect to see more here than we did in 2009 with the Converj. To recall some details, the latter generated 273 lb.-ft. (370 Nm) of instant torque, for a quick launch, and 163 hp (120 kW) of power.

  • Chrysler 300C SRT-8 vs Cadillac CTS-V and BMW M6 ESS VT3 [HD video]

    Here is an interesting drag racing battle (1 mile) between a powerful Chrysler 300C SRT-8 powered by enormous 7.0 liter supercharged V8 with 950HP (699 kW) and a stock Cadilac CTS-V having a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 with 564HP (415kW) and 747Nm (551 lb-ft). 0-60mph in 4.0 seconds and top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited.

Although the CTS-V makes nice start with reaction time of 0.587 seconds and 60 ft in 2.241 seconds, the mighty Chrysler won the drag with 12.164 seconds at ¼ mile with 206.77 km/h and 28.333 seconds at 1 mile with 312.22 km/h.

The second race of the 300C SRT-8 is going against a “rocket” – BMW M6 ESS VT3 with highly tuned V10 engine delivering 900HP (662 kW).

Here the Chrysler does not stand a chance against the BMW. Again, the 300C had bad reaction time, but it didn’t manage to cope with the M6. The BMW stopped the clock at 11.842 seconds for a ¼ mile with 209 km/h and 28.015 seconds with 308 km/h for 1 mile.
