  • Elvis Presley’s Cadillac Seville on Display

The National Motor Museum at Beaulieu is getting slightly rock’n’rolled for the authentic 1977 Cadillac Seville purchased by Elvis Presley himself is going on display. The burgundy-and-silver-colored beauty is presented in its original condition. Even the installed CB radio used by the King of Rock & Roll in order to communicate with the kitchen at Graceland and to the guard house outside Graceland is still there!

Cadillac Seville V8 Automatic was manufactured by General Motors while the body was custom built by Fisher for Cadillac. The engine was able to produce a power output of 180 hp (130 kW) with gas mileage of 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. Some of the car’s features include electronic windows and mirrors and a grey interior with wood grain highlights on the dashboard, doors and steering wheel.

This is the last car that Elvis purchased and it is said to be the vehicle driven before his death. What is more, it is thought that the singer bought more than 200 Cadillacs in his entire life not just for his personal use but also for family, friends and even strangers. After his death the 1977 Seville was given to his girlfriend Ginger Alden by Elvis’ father.

In 1994 the Cadillac was auctioned in Las Vegas and was sold for $101,500 to a private collector. After that, it was presented for sale again in August when Graceland organized its first auction. Other items included in the Graceland auction were Presley’s first-known signature on a Tupelo, Mississippi, school library card; a 1969 handwritten set list and jewelry.

Going next to the exterior of the car, we must say that Cadillac put a lot of efforts here. Almost every exterior panel on the ATS-V is unique, starting with the fascias and fenders, to the hood, rear spoiler and rocker moldings. For instance, the hood is made of lightweight carbon fiber and features an air-extracting vent.

Aerodynamics is improved with the addition of larger grille openings in the front fascia, the wider fenders to accommodate 18 x 9-inch front wheels and 18 x 9.5-inch rear wheels, the aluminum wheels are constructed of a low-mass forging and the rocker moldings and rear spoiler are aero-optimized.

  • Cadillac Introduces Its Wicked All-new ATS-V.R Race Car

There was a rumor going around that Cadillac might just ignore the CTS as its race car next and will instead choose its ATS Coupe. As it turns out, that is absolutely what is happening right now. Presicely, Cadillac ATS-V.R  set the start of the next generation of Cadillac’s V-Series elite, high-performance cars. The new race car was shown at the Circuit of the Americas, one of country’s pre-eminent racing venues.

It generates monstrous 600 hp and about 520 pound-feet of torque.

It becomes obvious that the ATS-V.R is equipped with an aggressive aero kit with a carbon fiber front splitter, and a wing at the back. The weight of the whole package is estimated at about 2,900 pounds, which is approximately 700 pounds less than the street version. In addition, there is also a full under tray directs air beneath the car to the rear diffuser, which helps create a downforce-producing effect and plants the 18-inch racing tires to the track. The mighty vision of the new Cadillac ATS-V.R is further complemented by the lightweight aluminum block and heads which are counterbalanced by a rear transaxle.

The ATS-V.R Coupe premiers next week, along with the ATS-V sedan, at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It is going to arrive track-capable from the factory next spring.

  • 2017 Cadillac Vehicles to be Equipped with new Vehicle Technologies

2015-Cadillac-CTS-THUMBCadillac has announced that in two years it will begin offering advanced “intelligent and connected” vehicle technologies. The announcement was made by General Motors CEO Mary Barra this Sunday during her keynote address at the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) World Congress in Detroit. Some of Cadillac’s 2017 model year vehicles will offer the advanced driver assist technology called Super Cruise.

In addition, the 2017 Cadillac CTS will be equipped with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication technology. Barra said that General Motors is taking these giant leaps forward to remain a leader of new technology, and because of customer’s demand. The ultimate goal is through technology and innovation to make driving safer.

Super Cruise is just a working name for GM’s automated driving technology. It will offer customers a new type of driving experience, including hands-off lane following, braking and speed control. What is more, this system has been created in order to bring about more comfort to the attentive driver on freeways, both in bumper-to-bumper traffic and on long road trips.

Next, the V2V communication technology could help reducing many traffic collisions and improve traffic congestion. It will make this possible via sending and receiving basic safety information such as location, speed and direction. In this way it will warn drivers and it can also supplement active safety features, such as forward collision warning.

  • 2015 Cadillac ATS-L To Be Introduced In Mid August

2015-Cadillac-ATS-L-THUMB2015 Cadillac ATS-L is going to be launched in Shanghai, China, on 15th of August. And yes, this means that the model won’t be available nor for the customers in the United States, nor those in Europe or any other part of the world. The letter “L” stands for luxury and in addition the new sport sedan will also add some extra legroom and headroom for the rear passengers. Of course, the newest member of the Cadillac family is based on the ATS.

ATS is being currently offered in sedan and coupe form. The model went on sale in China at the end of last year. Now, the L trim level will provide up to 85 mm longer wheelbase, thus increasing the legroom and headroom for passengers riding in the back seat. What is more, Cadillac has also implemented some ergonomic enhancements to the rear seats to further improve the ride comfort.

The ATS-L will keep the main key features of the vehicle: its sportiness, balanced proportions and performance. It will also incorporate a redesigned front fascia which will add more stylishness and sportiness.

The luxury sport sedan will be driven by the 2.0L SIDI turbocharged engine. In fact, in 2013 this unit was named one of Ward’s 10 Best Engines. Thanks to it, the car will produce 279 horsepower (205 kW) and peak torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). The result is 0 to100 km/h acceleration time of only 6.2 seconds.

At last, just as the ATS, the L derivative retains a 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution as well as the high-strength, lightweight architecture, Brembo brakes, Magnetic Ride Control suspension and high-performance run-flat tires.

  • 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe And Sedan Get More Torque And Equipment

2015-Cadillac-ATScoupe-THUMB2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe and ATS Sedan are getting some major updates. Those version equipped with the 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine will get additional torque of up to 400 Newton Meters, which equals 295 lb-ft. The horsepower is 272 horsepower (203 kW) and it was achieved through engine calibration that ended up in enhanced boost pressure for improved performance over the class-competitive torque level available at the launch of the ATS. Moreover, the car will also get available safety-enhancing lane-changing and lane-keeping technologies, which will further strengthen the luxury position of the new model year sport models.

In contrast to some types of vehicle, Cadillac ATS Coupe and Sedan are already the most agile cars in its respective classes. The additional torque works to enhance on an already dynamic vehicle. At 136hp/l, the 2.0L Turbo unit makes one of the most power-dense engines in the industry.

It also delivers 90 percent of its peak torque from 2100 rpm to 3000 rpm and the full 400 Nm of peak torque (295 lb-ft) from 3000 to 4600 rpm. What is more, the broad torque band is backed up by high boost levels in the speed range. It is designed to give the lightweight ATS models immediate power on driver’s demand.

As mentioned, the MY2015 ATS will also be equipped with Lane Change Alert and Lane Keep Assist. The first technology, Lane Change Alert, works in conjunction with the optional Side Blind Zone alert. It warns the person behind the steering wheel of rapidly approaching vehicles, looking approximately 82 feet (or 25 meters) from the side mirror. In this way, the driver is notified that that it may not be safe to change lanes, via a flashing symbol in the side mirror, depending on which turn signal has been activated.

The second technology to be featured in the new models is the Lane Keep Assist system. It operates above speed of 37 mph and utilizes a forward-facing camera. The latter detects if the car leaves the lane unintentionally. If this case is detected, then the technology engages the electric power steering to give a momentary nudge and prevent crossing the lane markings, aligning the vehicle in the lane.

Lane Change Alert and Lane Keep Assist will be offered as an option on both 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe and Sedan in their Performance and Premium Collection trim levels. In addition, the car will be equipped with the Driver Assist Package. The available Lane Change Alert will be also offered on the Luxury, Performance and Premium Collection ATS trim levels along with the Driver Awareness Package.

  • Cadillac works on 2016 CTS-V model

The Cadillac CTS-V has been around for nearly 10 years now. Launched back in 2004 as a high-performance version of the CTS sedan it targeted other fast cars such as the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. Coming at first with a powerful 5.7-liter LS6, V8 engine for 400 HP (294 kW) of power and 395 lb-ft (535 Nm) of torque, the Cadillac CTS-V was upgraded in 2006, receiving a 6.0-liter LS2 engine with the same power but a better torque range. More changes were applied in 2008 with the second generation Cadillac CTS-V. This time the car had a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that produced 556 HP (409 kW) of power and 551 lb-ft (747 Nm) of torque.

Now Cadillac CTS-V fans will get to see and experience the third generation of this muscle vehicle. The new car is based on the brand-new CTS sedan and has a redesigned exterior and a larger interior, while at the same time bringing more power, newer technologies and less weight.

The new Cadillac CTS-V comes with one important change so we chose to start with it. The new generation will be an attempt by Cadillac to better differentiate its high-performance models from standard ones and the CTS line will be the first one to benefit from this change. The first change is that the grille of the car no longer resembles the one of a standard 2014 CTS. The new one is both wider and shorter and comes with an entirely new design. The bumper is also different and larger intakes replace the more stylish cutouts in the regular CTS. In addition the vehicle is expected to be even more aerodynamic and there will be air vents on the hood that suggest there’s a force-fed V8 engine inside the car.

As to engines there’s little information but we do know that the new 2015 Cadillac CTS-V line will come with at least one V8 gasoline engine that will produce around 600 HP (441 kW) and 580 lb-ft (786 Nm) of torque.

Just like before the main targets of the Cadillac CTS-V will be the 2014 BMW M5 and the current Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. Both cars are slightly more powerful than the Cadillac CTS-V but sell for around USD 90 000 and more, which is a disadvantage when compared to the 2015 Cadillac CTS-V – a car that is expected to sell for around USD 70 000.
