  • Daring GeigerCars.de project shows us the dark side of Cadillac ATS-V Coupe

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Twin Turbo Black LineSporty car enthusiasts and tuners usually have certain “sweet spot” for the vehicles that they tune. What I mean is that tuners chose certain brands and models, when it comes to aggressive high power output upgrade. And usually no one places Cadillac brand on the top of their list.

However, GeigerCars.de team decided to take a closer look to the Cadillac ATS-V Coupe and step out of the comfort zone. The final result is called Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Twin Turbo Black Line and it is worth checking out!

We all know that usually Cadi vehicles got a reputation of massive, elegant and luxurious vehicles that are not specifically created for super-fast lap times and agile cornering, but hey, who said engineers cannot try to achieve it? Let’s check out the final result, shall we?

    Exterior styling

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Twin Turbo Black Line

We see a beautiful and massive Cadillac machine. Many of the original signature lines and curves are present: the feeling of luxury, the proportions and the feeling of elegance. What the tuning team has done is to lower the overall height with a total of 25mm and add some sporty features as side skirts, carbon-fiber components and these neat and beautiful OZ Leggera alloys. As we see it, the concept theme for the looks is simple, straightforward and stylish. Of course, the prefferred color is black, which is always a good choice. We love it

    Interior styling

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Twin Turbo Black Line

Concept idea: simple and functional. Especially simple. What we got here is a super clean cabin with Recaro sporty seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and a massive Bose audio system. Definitely created to keep the focus of the driver on the road, the interior styling completely resembles the sportiness and aggressiveness of the machine.

    Drivetrain system

Now we are talking. The vehicle has a total power input of 508hp (374kW) via a 3.6-liter  twin-turbo V6 engine and a peak torque of 659Nm. What this means is that the upgraded vehicle can reach a top speed of 312km/h (173kW). The engineering team has also included a whole performance package with numerous hardware and software goodies. There is a stainless-steel cat-back, valve control sports exhaust with X-pipe and a 110mm diameter tailpipes. Sweet. Of course, optimised fuel consumption, turbo boost function and remapped ECU are all present.

  • Cadillac Escala Concept is the secret vehicle that amazed everyone at Pebble Beach

    Cadillac Escala Concept front view

Escala Concept features design & technical ideas of the future Cadillacs

Cadillac Escala Concept is the third design study we’ll talk about today. It has been too shown at the annual Pebble Beach meeting. As the company has revealed previously, the new model is previewing the future design direction that Cadillac vehicle would take. In addition, it also exemplifies a technology-infused interior and a lot of craftsmanship inside and out. If Cadillac really wants to raise customer’s interest, the all of the features we see here must be included in the futures models. Only time will show what will happen.

The concept study definitely “wow’-ed at Pebble Beach. To what should be attribute that? First we have to mention that Escala means “scale”, which actually shows with words that the concept car is larger that the previous Cadillac models.

SEE ALSO: Cadillac and LG collaborate in intricate new concept vehicle [w/video]

The design study is a beautiful 4-door flagship sedan with expansive liftback design, measuring a total of 210.5 inches in length. At the front, we see an evolution of Cadillac’s traditional face, which will be featured in the upcoming models soon (yay!). Here to mention are the expression of Cadillac’s vertical lighting and the organic light emitting diode (OLED) lighting elements. Have you seen the three-dimensional pattern in the grille design? The huge 22-inch wheels feature two layers of spokes are the perfect companion of this beautiful exterior.

    Cadillac Escala Concept interior

On the inside, there are two independent spaces: the first one is in the front and features focused modern technology, while the rear delivers relaxation. In addition, an array of three curved OLED screens is part of the front of the cabin as well as new designs for connectivity and control. All of this is just a prototype for the future production Cadillacs. Everything else inside is handcrafted.

At last, but not least, Escala is driven by the 4.2-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine. Just like anything else here it is a prototype of a new system in development for future models. The unit uses Active Fuel Management technology, which shows exceptional fuel economy.

To sum up, the Cadillac Escala Concept is absolutely stunning inside and out! We think that if the automaker has the courage to build a production version close to this, they’d have a winner! This is probably, the best overall Cadillac design we’ve seen in years!

  • Cadillac and LG collaborate in intricate new concept vehicle [w/video]

    Cadillac new concept teaser

Here’s a video, which Cadillac has just uploaded at their official YouTube channel. If you wonder why is it important, well, because it actually depicts a new concept vehicle, which will be unveiled on Thursday during Monterey Car Week. More importantly, it will also feature innovations, which will be used in a future production vehicle. Cadillac didn’t announce actually, that the debuting concept will be a brand new model, but actually disclosed that it will be equipped with innovative technology “prominent in the latest home electronics,” and that this technology will be featured in an upcoming vehicle.

To go into details, I’m talking about the range of curved OLED screens, which has been developed in collaboration with LG Electronics. This is a little bit sad, because customers do need a Cadillac concept, which eventually would become a production model. But, let’s wait.

SEE ALSO: Cadillac further enhances the CTS & ATS lineups with Carbon Black pack

Besides the teaser video and the cited information, the company did not release any other details. The video is previewing a digitalized picture of an elegant wooden dashboard with very simple design. As you can see, there aren’t a lot of buttons or knobs. This is because of the integration of the LG OLED screens, which serve as a substitution of the original controls.

By the end of the video we witness an ongoing 3D navigation, which by the way looks fantastic, but puts in question how will Cadillac implement it, and would it look that nice. By the way, you can watch the reveal of the new concept at Cadillac’s official Facebook, Facebook.com/Cadillac, at 10:45 p.m. EST/7:45 p.m. PST on Thursday, August 18.

  • Cadillac further enhances the CTS & ATS lineups with Carbon Black pack

Cadillac CTS & ATS front viewCarbon Black sport package added after 2017 CTS & ATS facelifts were introduced

After announcing the changes made to the 2017 CTS and ATS lineups, Cadillac is now introducing the Carbon Black sport package, which was created specifically for them. The Carbon Black kit gives a more athletic appearance to the models, but it also does more than just this: for the first time, the company has included the Black Chrome grille for the V-Series models. The same applies to the RECARO front seats for Cadillac ATS Sedan and Coupe.

What is more, there are more exterior colors to choose from, including the following: Black Raven, Phantom Gray Metallic, Red Obsession Tintcoat and Crystal White Tricoat. Only the ATS-V and CTS-V models can show-off with an additional hue that others in the range don’t have, namely – the Velocity Red. On the inside, all can be specified with Jet Black or Light Platinum design themes.

SEE ALSO: Cadillac makes important changes to the 2017 CTS & ATS lineups

    Let’s check out the details.

    Cadillac ATS Coupe front view

The Carbon Black pack is suitable only for the Cadillac ATS Sedan and Coupe in their Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels. On the outside the added appearance for these (besides the aforementioned grille) is due to the extra black finish side window moldings, and body-colored door handles, alloys in After Midnight dark finish, the V-Series spoiler, as well as the rear fascia appliqué. The RECARO front seats aren’t the only benefit for the cabin as it also gets low-gloss carbon fiber on treatment for specific parts featured on the dash.

The package is available for the Cadillac CTS Luxury and V-Sport Premium Luxury Sedan, too. Adding the special grille as well as the After Midnight wheels and V-Series spoiler, it seems that they do not differentiate much with the first models mentioned. However, the main distinction is on the inside. Here the models aren’t specified with the RECARO seats, but instead come with upgraded performance seats. However, the RECARO ones are in the options list. The low-gloss carbon fiber interior trim is standard.

    Cadillac CTS & ATS Interior

As for the ATS-V Sedan and Coupe, what they can show us in addition to everything mentioned is the Carbon Fiber package. It includes a more aggressive front splitter, hood vent trim, rear diffuser, composite rocker extension panels and a taller, body-colored rear spoiler. On the inside, the low-gloss carbon is fitted all around, and the sueded steering wheel and shifter as well as the RECARO V-Series front seats come as a standard.

At the top of all stands the Cadillac CTS-V Super Sedan. It also received the extended exterior carbon fiber treatment. However, its rear spoiler isn’t body-colored, but entirely made of exposed carbon fiber. Surprisingly, the RECARO V seats here are an option. Instead, the CTS-V Super Sedan gets the well known V-Series performance front seats. Everything else on the inside is similar to the ATS-V Sedan and Coupe.

Cadillac is going to start the production of the 2017 model year later this summer. However, authorized dealerships are now open for orders.
