  • What makes the BMW 3 Series Saloon right for your business?

When you start shopping around for contract hire deals to offer to your staff, there are several things you need to bear in mind, in addition to the cost of the package you choose. One option open to you is the BMW 3 Series Saloon, which ticks a number of boxes.

If you’re not convinced of the merits of this model, maybe the following points will sway your decision.

    Image

Although the main purpose of having a company car is to get from A to B, these vehicles can do more than just transport your employees between meetings. They can make a statement about your firm – good or bad – depending on the model you choose and the condition it’s in.

Imagine what you would think if you saw someone arrive for a business meeting with you in a shabby, uncared for car. You may well form the opinion that this person – or their firm – does not take pride in their appearance, and therefore may not put the effort in for you.

Put this in contrast to how you would view someone pulling up in a sleek, polished motor. It’s vital to present a professional image at all times. With that in mind, take a look at the BMW 3 Series Saloon – it really does look the part and, as it’s one of the most popular executive cars around, you can rest assured you won’t be the only person who thinks it makes a good impression.

    Cost effective

While looking great is all well and good, most companies have their eyes firmly on their bottom line, especially with all the economic problems in the UK at present. However, the BMW 3 Series can deliver here too, with a range of BMW contract hire offers available at affordable prices – particularly if you are prepared to take out a slightly longer lease or don’t have high annual mileage.

Business owners also need to factor in the cost of fuel, as it is common to pay employees mileage for any driving they do for work. It therefore makes sense to give them cars that are fuel efficient.

Take the BMW 3 Series Saloon 320d EfficientDynamics model as an example – it boasts combined fuel consumption of 68.9 mpg and up to 80.7 mpg for extra-urban use. This vehicle features innovative technology designed to reduce CO2 emissions and fuel usage, such as an auto start-stop function and a brake energy regeneration system.

    Reliability and safety

As company cars need to get employees from one place to another, you need to be confident that the vehicles you provide your workers with are safe and reliable. BMW has long been associated with high-quality engineering, so you can be confident the technology under the bonnet of a 3 Series Saloon won’t let you down.

  • Tesla Model S vs BMW M5 F10 Drag Race [video]

BMW M5 F10 is currently one of the fastest four-door cars in the world. It crosses the finish line at ¼ mile in 11.9 seconds with 122 mph (196 km/h) terminal speed.

    F10 M5 is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 560PS (412 kW) and 680Nm (502 lb-ft). It is mated to a 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission. 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 12.1 seconds and top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) electronically limited and 305 km/h (190 mph) with M Driver’s Package. The M5 F10 is 1990kg (4387 lbs).

On the other hand, the Tesla Model S is powered by a 416HP (310 kW) and 600Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque rear mounted electric motor. It is interesting that the electric motor has its full torque (600Nm) from the 1st RPM. The car weighs 2105 kg (4640 lbs).

Although the Tesla S is underpowered, it manages to win this race. Still, we do not believe that, because the M5 driver made terrible start.

  • CLP Performance BMW 6 Series Equipped with new Aerodynamics Kit

CLP-BMW-6-Series-651-THUMBCLP Performance BMW 6 Series can now show-off even more power and endurance thanks to a body kit of exceptional elegance. The creator is the tuning company CLP Performance, which has designed new aerodynamics kit for both cabriolet and the coupe.

Now the emblematic BMW models can radiate more sportiness and individuality. The specialists have redesigned the sills and added an air intake in front of the rear wheel arch. The front skirt has been given much lower slung air intakes and the designers have added a diffusor high up on the rear skirt.

Nevertheless, what grabs the attention the most on this 6 Series is the new tailgate. It picks up the sleek line of the vehicle and continues this edge in a broad sweep towards the rear. We must admit that now the BMW has more elegant appearance.

The aerodynamics kit, named CLP MR 600 GT-S, has been further personalized with Blue Hope three-part wheels from Diamond in the sizes of 9.5 x 20 inches on the front axle, and 11.5 x 20 inches at the rear.

The black star stands out in classic light-dark contrast against the stainless steel outer rims and the pearl wrapping of the car. To sum up, this is a unique hand-made product with sporty and elegant stance.

  • AC Schnitzer 2012 BMW 3-Series F30 [video]

AC Schnitzer has always created something special from “boring” family saloons like BMW 3-Series. This is their latest project based on the all-new BMW F30.

AC Schnitzer boosted the Diesel range significantly: 318d and 320d to achieve 171 HP (126 kW) and 218 HP (160 kW). The performance upgrades for the 328i and 335i will realise 294 HP (216 kW) and 360 HP (265 kW) but both are still in the final development stage. One thing is for sure: with the AC Schnitzer performance upgrades the 3 series will have an even more impressive presence.

The saloon makes itself heard with the AC Schnitzer sports rear silencer with one or two chromed “Racing” tailpipes. A pure optical enhancement is given by the AC Schnitzer “Racing” tailpipe

In the 3 series by AC Schnitzer, you ride out life’s ups and downs on the AC Schnitzer suspension spring kit. In combination with lowering, this ensures that you can never lose ground adhesion even on turbulent, twisty events. This is guaranteed with the AC Schnitzer wheels Type IV BiColor and silver, Type VI and Type VIII in 18 to enormous 20”, which form a solid yet sporting and elegant basis for the wheelarches.

A new addition to the AC Schnitzer range is the Type VIII wheel in BiColor silver. This comes in 18, 19 and 20 inch and impresses with its sporting elegance. The colouring – lacquered silver with bright turned aluminium accents – makes it appear even larger.

The ACS3 reveals its inner values with the AC Schnitzer “Black Line” aluminium cover for the BMW “i-Drive” system controller, several gear knobs, the “Black Line” aluminium handbrake handle, the aluminium pedal set, a foot rest and floor mats in velours. But that’s not all:

The aerodynamic components from AC Schnitzer make the already excellent standard model into a vehicle with even more dynamism and sporting ambitions. The AC Schnitzer front spoiler, chromed front grille, rear roof spoiler, rear spoiler and rear skirt extension, complemented by design stripes are also now available.

  • Manhart BMW MH1 S Biturbo With 465 Horsepower

Manhart-BMW-MH1-S-Biturbo-THUMBManhart Racing latest creation is the performance conversion of a BMW 1M Coupé, known after the transformation Manhart BMW MH1 S Biturbo. Here the specialists focused on the increase of the six-piston engine’s performance by biturbo charging.

What they have done at first is to optimize the factory-side motor software. In addition the have included a completely new air guide with carbon airbox and new downpipes.

Moreover, to be everything perfect and in order they have installed a large charging air cooler and a larger water cooler. The effect is an output of 465 hp (342 kW) and a maximum torque of 600 Nm (443 lb-ft). This basically means that they have added an output of 125 hp (92 kW)!

As a result the MH1 S Biturbo accelerates lighting-fast and gives absolute thrill of speed to the person behind the steering wheel. But the work didn’t stop here. The Manhart technicians installed an additional KW Clubsport-chassis with special Manhart Racing alignment.

Next, the tuned BMW runs on the super-light MHR Concave One forged wheels in size 9×20 in the front and 10.5×20 inch in the back, applied with Continental Sport Contact 5P-high-performance tyres in 245/30 ZR20 and 295/25 ZR20.

Adding to the great performance conversions, Manhart Racing gave the BMW some visual improvements as well. In particular a special MHR front spoiler was added as well as MHR motor cowl, MHR trunk lid of light-weight carbon and MHR tail diffuser.

Another element in carbon fiber is the mirror caps.

The tuning was rounded off by the transformation of the interior. Here they have added a set of BMW performance seats with embroidered MHR-logo, as well as the known MHR additional display, onto which all important data, such as the maximum torque used, all motor temperatures and even acceleration values is displayed.

  • Tuning Concepts BMW E92 in Stunning Transformation

Tuning-Concepts-BMW-E92-THUMBTuning Concepts BMW E92 is definitely a transformation that we will remember. The transformers are the company Tuning Concepts from the in Schleswig Holstein situated Neumunster. What they have done basically in this BMW, is to alter it visually completely.

First of all we can see that there is the two-tone paint in red and black. It is perfectly suited with both the fenders and the door-mirrors in a M3-look. In addition, this tuned E92 has been equipped with sports break system.

Furthermore, next to the coilover suspension delivered by Bilstein, the Crew from Tuning Concepts has attached special importance to the most decisive interface between car and road – the wheels.

Forged “concave” Gambit rims in the dimensions of 8,5×20 or 10×20 inch fit perfectly to the tiring is 235/30-20 and 265/25-20 and to the overall appearance of the car. At last, an alternative weight optimization was applied to the wheels.

  • BMW stops F10 M5 and F12 M6 deliveries – engine oil pump failure

As we know, the old BMW M5 (the E60 model) is one of the most unreliable vehicles on the market. It has a lot of problems with all kind of electrical features. Still, it was a great car.

The new M5 (the F10) and the new M6 (F12/F13) also have big problems and the manufacturer has stopped deliveries of these models, because of an engine oil pump issue. The company also issued a recall on the models produced from July 2012 until September 2012. If the pump driveshaft separates from the pump rotor, the engine will lose oil pressure and that will cause critical damage… usually entirely broken engine.

In the US around 696 units are affected by this recall, which is not too much. The repair is easy and takes about two hours. This includes replacing the engine oil pump with a brand new one. It will be made free of charge and it might take longer in some cases depending on the scheduling and processing of the repair center.

So, it is very important to mention that BMW states that the affected cars should not be driven, until the problem is solved. If the owner of an M5 or M6 does notice a sudden loss of oil pressure, the car should be stopped immediately as well as the engine.

  • BMW test driver crashes in a 3-Series F30 Hybrid

Horrible accident happened on the Autobahn in Germany. A BMW 3-Series Hybrid Prototype crashed severely in a truck. The driver of the car had no passengers, but he is not alive. The crash was on September 21 on the A92 near the automaker’s Dingolfing factory. The test driver obviously was running the 3-Series Hybrid at high speeds while passing several trucks and one of them pulled out. Despite the reaction of the driver, he didn’t manage to safe himself and the impact was inevitable. The car went under the rear trailer and he had no chance (check the pictures). The A92 was closed for several hours due to the difficulties of recovering the crashed car.Of course, there is ongoing investigation which will explain how this terrible accident happened.May the driver rest in peace.

  • BMW ///M Performance Аccessory Program

BMW M Performance program allows selective customization with a clear focus on a particularly intensive driving experience. The manufacturer specially developed M Performance upgrades for the BMW 5-Series, the new BMW 3-Series and the new BMW 1-Series as part of the Original BMW Accessories range.

The most expensive car brand in the world is planning to introduce an M Performance Power Kit at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The kit is developed for the 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine fitted in 120d, 320d and 520d models. The upgrades are a larger charge air cooler and an ECU re-map. The result is more than satisfying – 200HP (147 kW) and 420Nm (310Nm) of torque. In other words this is 100HP per liter displacement … from diesel.

This is something the driver can clearly feel, including an increase in acceleration 0-100 km/h of up to 1.0 seconds. However, this enhanced driving pleasure has no effect whatsoever on the exemplary fuel consumption and CO2 emission figures of the respective models in the EU test cycle. What is more, the high quality standard of the BMW M Performance Power Kit guarantees unlimited reliability of the engine, so the warranty terms for vehicles in which it is installed remain valid as before.

The company will eventually offer a power kit for a petrol engine, but there’s no word on when it will arrive.

At a later stage the range will be extended to include a BMW M Performance Power Kit for petrol engines.
