  • US Debut For Jeff Koons’ BMW Art Car

BMW-Art-Car-by-Jeff-Koons-THUMBArtist Jeff Koons presented the North American premiere its own BMW Art Car. The latter is based on the M3 GT2 race car and made its debut at the opening day of Art Basel in Miami Beach.

At the event, the visitors also saw the popular Art BMWs by Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Stella, and Calder. Koons proudly stated that he is happy that his project is there alongside the work of these masterful artists.

The true legend on display in Miami was the legendary “rolling sculpture” created by Andy Warhol. It will be on display in Art Basel’s Collectors Lounge. The pop art icon painted used as a canvas a BMW M1 which raced in the 24-hour race at Le Mans in 1979.

As a matter of fact, the BMW Art Car Collection started when French racing driver Hervé Poulain invited his friend Alexander Calder to design his BMW Le Mans 24-hour race car in 1975. And this is how the first BMW Art Car was born. Since then it is a tradition the greatest names in contemporary art to be featured in this collection by the creation of an interpretation of a BMW. As a result there are exactly 17 BMW Art Cars today.

  • Update: Vorsteiner BMW M5 F10 Photo Shoot

Vorsteiner-BMW-M5-F10-shadowVorsteiner-BMW-M5-F10-mediumNot exactly breaking news, but a photo shoot of Vorsteiner’s BMW F10 M5. We don’t really need an excuse to relish in some eye-candy goodness, do we?

It’s an delicate thing this, mainly because Vorsteiner haven’t gone destroying it with a ridiculous body kit. In fact, this might just be the most reserved tuning effort of them all. All the while, it would seem that Vorsteiner went through an awful lot of fuss just so that they can leave their mark on the BMW M5. Consider this – the three main components that distinguish their BMW from all the rest are the carbon front splitter, rear diffuser, and lip spoiler on the trunk lid. Yet, they modeled them on a 3D printer (these days even bacon seems to be modeled by a 3D printer before it arrives on our plates); and, before actually bolting the pieces on the M5, Vorsteiner tested their aerodynamic properties in a wind tunnel.

Last but not least, they gave the M5 a set of 21-inch VS-190 Forged Monoblock Wheels leaving just about a hair of space between the tires and the wheel arches.

Generally improved or would you rather have it marooned?

  • Power Version of BMW M6 Cabrio by BBM Motorsport [VIDEO]

BBM-Motorsport-BMW-M6-THUMBThe serial BMW M6 is an upper class athlete which also has the characteristics of elegance and luxury in both coupe and cabriolet forms. The tuners at BBM Motorsport weren’t stopped by these facts and embarked on a project with the aim to make more powerful the exclusive M6.

The project carries the name BBM M700BT and focuses mainly on the area of power enhancement. Precisely, the professionals used chip tuning software and Akrapovic complete exhaust system including down pipes and sports cat.

The result is astounding; the M6 now delivers the following performance values: 705 horsepower (518 kW) at 6.100 to 7.200 rpm and 864 Nm (638 lb0ft) of max torque. This means an addition of 145 hp and (107 kW) and 184 Nm (136 lb-ft) of torque. In addition, the exhaust system features carbon fiber end pipes.

In terms of suspension, there has been installed a KW suspension set in order to maintain the “dynamic damping control” (DDC). This BMW was also equipped with Breyton Spirit R 21” rims. At last, what needs to be mentioned is the exclusive car wrapping by SFT Carwrap in „Mat Steel Blue“ and the sportive accents in „Gunpowder“ by Sott/Arlon.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Vilner Reveals the Bullshark

The latest artwork of the Bulgarian luxury tuning company Vilner – BMW Bullshark, has been exclusively unveiled and again the readers of automobilesreview.com are the first to see it and read about it. The name of the project comes from the English name for the species Bull shark. The goal of the tuners was to bring back part of the forms of the sea predator, which are typical for the older models, and to weave them harmoniously with the future in the way they see it.

They have succeeded to create the design and afterwards to realize it in one year. The professionals at Vilner have also created the project with the idea to change the 6 Series by strictly following its lines. From this vehicle, which is a generation of BMW 6 Series before the last one, they have kept only the roof and the doors unchanged.

In order to create the details, the team has used composite materials, and this is how they now have a completely new design and in addition are lighter when compared to the production ones. The designers have utilized blue accents in the interior and exterior, combined it with brown, and from the interior they have transferred the same design language again onto the exterior.

Outside as well as inside, the blue accents are very fine. In the coupe they are present almost everywhere in the form of decorative stitching – on the seats, sun shields, rearview mirror, the upholstery on the doors as well as on the seat belts and floor mats.

On the outside – on the mirrors, strips next to the side windows, “kidneys”, exhaust caps and the lights “taken” from Infiniti FX. Carbon fibers are the natural solution for the bumpers, door-sills, rearview mirrors and the spoiler above the rear window.

Additionally they have inserted LEDs in the lights. The tail-lights are taken from the facelifted E63, while the indicators are a slight reference to Z4. In the silhouette of the Bullshark is unobtrusively implied the presence of the shark.

In the interior the seats have been completely replaced with sport ones from the M Series of the same model. The steering wheel is individualized and also includes a change in the form. Art Studio Vilner has shortened the gearshift lever and has created a new brown dials with blue rings for the mileage-meters. Leather and Alcantara are wrapping even the rearview mirror, the seat’s housing, dashboard, doors, side panels to the rear seat and the trunk.

The project wouldn’t be completely finished without a High-End sound. In the car have been mounted 2-band systems with Ground Zero speakers at the front and rear, while for the optimal precision of the sound control takes care the Audison processor. The coupe is entirely noise-insulated.

Power tuning has been also implemented via chiptuning, generation AC Schnitzer. Therefore the result is a breath-taking maximum power of around 370 hp (272 kW) and a maximum torque of 522 Nm (407 lb-ft) at 3420 rev. The Bullshark runs on Z Performance wheels in the dimensions of 8,5 x 19 at the front, and 9,5 x 19 at the rear. As a final touch Vilner has created for the client an individual traveling bag made in the same style and materials as the car.
