  • The White Phoenix: Famous Parts Audi R8 Wide Body PD GT-850

Famous-Parts-Audi-R8-THUMBThe German tuning specialists at Famous Parts have been lately cooperating with the aerodynamic masters at Prior-Design. They have joined forces in order to create a stunning project in which the main star is the Audi R8.

Of course, Prior Design gave its best and delivered all parts of the coveted GT-850 body kit. The work of the technicians of Famous Parts was to properly install the as well as to do the remaining conversion works.

Thanks to the GT-850 wide body kit the Audi is now six centimeters wider at the front and eight centimeters wider at the rear, when compared to the production version. Instead of wrapping the car, Famous Parts decided to paint the R8 in the limited serial colour “Pearl matt white“.

To complement even further the masterful appearance of the car, the tuners equipped it with a proper set of shoes. In particular, these are the exclusive three-part Rotiform forged alloy wheels in size of 10Jx20 inches matched with 255/30R20 at the front, and the extremely broad 13.5Jx20 inches matched with 345/25R20 Continental Sport contact tyres at the rear.

In addition, on the four ends of the R8 chassis frame there has been installed adaptive damper system called “Magnetic Ride“. And in order to match the painting, the outer rims of the Rotiform wheels were wrapped in white.

More importantly, the driving unit of this vehicle was also enhanced. This happened with the help of the installation of premium Capristo flap sports exhaust system. The latter is made of stainless steel and it also includes remote control and four-fold sound selection. In addition to this, there was also a complex software optimization, as well as installation of company’s own modified air piping system.

  • Audi R8 GRAND-AM Returns At Watkins Glen Race

Audi-R8-GRAND-AM-THUMBAudi R8 GRAND-AM made a return yesterday at the 6 Hours at Watkins Glen race as part of the endurance championship. Two Audi motor-sport cars took part in the contest: the GRAND-AM and the new Fall-Line Motorsport.

The winning Audi R8 GRAND-AM that won the Daytona 24 Hours earlier this year was driven by Felipe Albuquerque (Portugal) – the same driver took the checkered flag at Daytona; Eduardo Mortara (France/Italy) and Dion von Moltke (South Afraica) piloted the number 24 car. The official results of the race, hasn’t been released yet, but we are impatiently looking forward to hearing some good news for the Audi team.

In fact, Fall-Line Motorsports number 46 R8 GRAND-AM in the B+ (Be Positive) livery made its debut at the event. The successful team brought great enthusiasm to the event. The piloting-trio Al Carter, Charles Espenlaub, and Charlie Putman has worked together for several years and has won many races including Fall-Line’s team and drivers’ 2010 Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge Series championship with Espenlaub and Putman.

Audi R8 GRAND-AM differentiates approximately by 50 percent of the R8 production car in terms of parts and equipment. For instance, the 5.2 Liter V10 naturally aspirated engine is fitted to the race-car, and was previously tested for maximum durability on the track.

In addition, the new Audi R8 production car has been also enhanced and now is offered as V10 Plus model which is capable of delivering 550 horsepower (405 kW). The model has an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. The engine is matched with a new in-house developed seven-speed double clutch S tronic transmission that is exclusively utilized in the R8.

However, the six-speed manual gated shifting transmission is still available on all models as well as the new full-LED lighting design. New cross-stitched leather seats and door inserts finish the improvements on the interior of the 2014 R8 production car.

  • Phantom Black Panther: OK-Chiptuning Audi R8 V10 Coupe

OK-Chiptuning-Audi-R8-V10-Coupe-THUMBPhantom Black Panther is the latest project of the tuning professionals at OK-Chiptuning, which this time have enhanced the emblematic Audi R8 V10 Coupe. They have enhanced the model in terms not only of visual characteristics but also of performance.

First of all they have equipped the Audi with phantom black metallic carbon-front lip and rear diffuser. The taillights have been changed and now resemble those of the R8 GT. Furthermore, the radiator grill is painted in carriage color.

In this tuning can also be seen the KW-thread springs with „magnetic ride”. They have the ability to adapt their hardness in fractions through a magnetic field of the current driving situation within seconds.

However, the main focus of OK-Chiptuning was the engine. The modifications done on the unit, gear box as well as the associated software, result in more power delivery. The original engine generates 520 hp (382 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque.

Nevertheless, through software- optimization, the Audi R8 V10 now is able of producing 620 hp (456 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft). In addition, thanks to the support of flaps exhaust system the mid-engine-Audi lies down the sprint from 100 to 200 km/h in just 6.9 seconds. What is more, the software optimization of R tronic done by the team at Kai Uwe OTTLINGHAUS offers a significant reduction of switching times.
