  • Aston Martin Marks Its Diamond Jubilee with Six Limited Edition Sports Cars

aston-martin-vanquish-super-gt-anniversary-edition-01The best way to mark great achievements in the past is by looking towards the future with a determination to gain even more and bigger accomplishments. This is precisely what Aston Martin is striving to do now. In order to celebrate its 60th anniversary and to really set this event as something tremendously important and big, the automaker is revealing six bespoke models which are confirming new standards.

All of the models represent interpretations of the current Vanquish super GT in either Coupe or Volante version. Their creation is the product of the exciting Aston Martin personalization service and the luxury British brand’s Gaydon-based design team of proffessionals.

The cars are powered by the standard 6.0-litre V12 petrol engine which is used in the Vanquish super GT. It is mated to the latest generation Touchtronic III eight-speed automatic gearbox and delivers 568 HP and 630 Nm of torque. What does it do for the car though? This enables the Vanquish to speed up from 0 to 60mph in 3.6 seconds, developing a maximum speed of 200mph.

Precisely, the six pistons have been drawn from engines in the following Newport Pagnell-built sports cars:

    • 1955-1965: DB 2/4 Mk II saloon
    • 1965-1975: DB5
    • 1975-1985: V8 Coupe
    • 1985-1995: V8 Vantage X-pack
    • 1995-2005: V8 Vantage supercharged
    • 2005-2015: Original Vanquish

Moreover, the new Aston Martin Anniversity vehicles share some explicit features such as rotaries made from worked metal of a heritage model piston from the relevant era; distinctive Anniversary Yellow accents on the side strakes and alloy wheels; White/black Duotone seat centre panels; one-of-a-kind sill plaques exemplifying the era of the car with the Works Anniversary logo. Additionally, the distinctive color and trim treatments are highlighted by contrast yellow stitching in the leather and new heavy weave carbon fibre.

The first of the models has already been released at the Buckinghamshire-based firm’s customer Christmas celebration.

  • Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf Officially Unveiled in Dubai

Aston-Martin-Lagonda-Taraf-THUMBAston Martin Lagonda Taraf is currently being launched in Dubai, but don’t worry because Aston Martin is planning to release it outside the Middle East market. The super saloon is one of the finest of fast cars. It is based on company’s flexible VH architecture and is inspired by the highly sought-after William Towns-designed Lagonda of 1976. In addition, it includes wide range of the same cutting edge engineering techniques seen in modern Aston Martin sports. An instance is the use of carbon fibre body panels.

Of course, the car has been hand-built by the finest craftsmen and women at company’s manufacturing facilities in Gaydon, Warwickshire. Right there was the production of the One-77 hypercar. Just like its exclusive siblings, like the V12 Zagato and CC100 Speedster Concept, Lagonda has been created as a piece of automotive art.

Unfortunately, this is the entire information which we have received from Aston Martin. However, we suspect that the car is likely driven by a refined V12 6.0-liter engine, which produces more than 565 hp (415 kW) and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This means that we should expect a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time in 4 seconds or less and a top speed around 200 mph.

Aston Martin Lagonda super saloon was revealed in October. This was the time when the British company released the first officia images of the car. With this super saloon, the luxury brand is trying to revive the historic Lagonda nameplate.

Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf will be offered for sale by invitation only. Up until now there are no details revealed about the exact pricing.

  • Aston Martin Produces One-Off DB9 Volante Morning Frost

Aston-Martin-DB9-Volante-Morning-Frost-THUMBAston Martin DB9 Volante Morning Frost is unique and was made by company’s Q customization division. If you still can’t believe it, this car is so exclusive that it will be produced in only one example. The one-off exterior is finished in white color, called Morning Frost, and features blue satin carbon fiber accents, and we must say it looks pretty nice. The same blue color has also been used for the soft top.

There is also a special mesh grille and even more special and elegant 10-spoke alloy wheels. The two-tone design scheme continues inside in the cabin. There we see the combination of Pearl White and Spectral Blue leather seats. The latter leather is used also for the air vents, while Cobalt Blue is used for the fascia trim.

DB9 Volante Morning Frost will be driven by 6.0-liter V12 engine. The unit produces 510 hp (375 kW) and 620 Nm (458 lb-ft) of maximum torque, and is coupled with a Touchtronic 2 six-speed transmission. The transmission helps the car accelerate effortlessly from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.

DB9 is the iconic heart of the Aston Martin model range. It combines an intoxicating blend of elegance and engineering, refinement and technology. DB9 is also the latest progeny of the most illustrious automotive bloodline in the world.

Aston Martin’s newest DB9 has been commissioned by Aston Martin Dallas. Honestly, this sports car is definitely one of the most eye-catching DB9 Volantes we’ve ever seen. What do you think?

  • Aston Martin Reveals the Lagonda Super Saloon

Aston-Martin-Lagonda-THUMBThe production of the Aston Martin Lagonda super saloon was announced at the end of July, and since then we haven’t heard anything about the vehicle. Now the British company is releasing first images of the production car version of the new Lagonda. Except for those ten images which you can view below, Aston Martin didn’t release any further details about the car. What we know however is that it will be built in strictly limited numbers and its production will begin in 2015.

With this super saloon, the luxury brand is trying to revive the historic Lagonda nameplate. And in fact, the Lagonda badge will be positioned on the ultimately luxurious and exclusive model, which means that what we see now sits at the top of Aston Martin’s range.

Furthermore, the Lagonda will be built on the flexible VH architecture. As you can see from the picture above, the new model also draws inspiration from the highly sought-after William Towns-designed 1976 Lagonda. The saloon is hand-built and crafted and features a lot of carbon-fiber components.

This is a return for the Lagonda nameplate which comes after the revival of other Aston Martin’s projects, which include the One-77 hypercar, V12 Zagato and last year’s CC100 Speedster Concept. Just like its exclusive siblings, Lagonda has been created as a piece of automotive piece art.

Lagonda will be offered for sale by invitation only, and will be sold in the Middle East only. There are no details disclosed about the exact pricing.

  • Aston Martin to showcase Q by Aston Martin bespoke service

    Q-by-Aston-Martin_thumbQ-by-Aston-Martin_651

The famous automobile brand Aston Martin will showcase a new collection of bespoke commissions created by the company’s Q by Aston Martin division at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week next week.

There is a total of four new Q by Aston Martin designs, led by the Los Angeles-based dealer partner, Galpin Aston Martin. All new designs are based on the DB9 Volante, V12 Vantage S and Vanquish sports cars.

The Q by Aston Martin Vanquish Coupe comes with amplified colors, bold contrasts and a new and innovative enlarged carbon fiber weave structure. The exterior is painted in Abor Orange, which is an exclusive new Q paint finish, and offers the vibrancy of a rich orange red fired with an intensity emphasized by a shimmering pearl effect. Ensconced in the Obsidian Black leather interior, the carbon theme is continued with a printed leather in a design called ‘Helix’; inspired by a carbon molecule helix and influenced by experimental rapid prototyped furniture. Running like a spine down the centre of the car, the Helix print is set on an unbroken expanse of leather headliner panel, and is revealed again in the door panels.

The Q by Aston Martin Vanquish Volante comes with a new exterior paint finish – Frosted Silver – that offers better light to dark travel. Graphite-finished 10-spoke alloy wheels are set against classically styled polished calipers that match the Solid Sterling Silver seen in the Aston Martin wings and Q badges.

The Q by Aston Martin DB9 Volante offers an Ashen Blonde exterior – warm silver taken from the exclusive Q palette and paired with polished alloy wheels. Inside, the DB9 adopts a blush pearl leather, Piano Ice Mocha facia and drawing inspiration from luxury furniture, a blanket stitch which runs the length of the central spine of the interior. As a final touch a pink Rhodachrosite stone is inlaid in the Q buckle badge strapped to the console.

Finally the Q by Aston Martin V12 Vantage S comes with a rich purple amethyst exterior paint that gets combined with bright painted Monterey Pearl front grille and rear diffuser. An Obsidian Black interior is punctuated with Vivid Purple leather details on a number of details including seat stripe, headlining, steering wheel and glove box lining. Also included are a series of special carbon fiber details such as the rotary controls which are each hand wound from a single filament of carbon fiber.

Matthew Bennett, The General Manager for Q and VIP Sales said: “The Q by Aston Martin collection of cars shown at Pebble Beach are a bold statement of the intent and capability we are developing within Q. They show how customers can be inspired to create truly unique cars and the breadth of bespoke capability at their disposal.”

  • Aston Martin upgrades Vanquish and Rapide S models

    Aston-Martin-Vanquish_thumbAston-Martin-Vanquish_651

Aston Martin has announced a number of new and exciting technical improvements that will find their way into Vanquish and Rapide S models that belong to the 15 Model Year (15MY). The changes affect performance, fuel consumption and emissions as well as overall driving experience.

The first major change is that both models now come with the new Touchtronic III eight-speed automatic gearbox – the first time ever that this gearbox is integrated in a transaxle layout. The new gearbox has positive influence on both performance and fuel economy thanks to the efforts of ZF, with which Aston Martin has been partnering to bring the Touchtronic III to the Vanquish and Rapide S.

Ian Minards, Product Development Director at Aston Martin, explained: “We have a long and successful technical partnership with ZF and so it was a natural step for us to adapt and integrate their world class 8HP transmission into our transaxle layout.”

“This has been a detailed piece of work involving careful consideration of many technical parameters including gear ratios, software integration and shifting strategies.  This has delivered a significant step change in both vehicle performance and economy whilst preserving the unique Aston Martin V12 driving experience.”

The new 15MY cars also feature reduced 0-60 mph times – the Vanquish and Rapide S now accelerate to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds (3.8 seconds 0-100 km/h) and 4.2 seconds (4.4 seconds 0-100 km/h), respectively, down from 4.1 seconds for the Vanquish and 4.7 seconds for the Rapide S. The new gearbox and changes in the gear and final drive ratios also allow the cars to feature lower emissions that are now lower by an average of ten per cent – down to 298 g/km for Vanquish and 300 g/km for the Rapide S. Economy is boosted by thirteen per cent (Rapide S) and seven per cent (Vanquish) with the new transmission (US Combined cycle). In addition for the first time both cars can achieve 200 mph (320 km/h) and more. Peak power also rises – the Vanquish now sports 568 bhp (576 hp or 423 kW), while the Rapide S offers 552 bhp (560 hp or 412 kW) of power. Peak torque is also up to 465 lb.-ft. (630 Nm) at 5,500 rpm.

In addition to all this the new Aston Martin Vanquish and Rapide S take advantage of the latest Bosch Engine Management System. The new system, which delivers more precise engine control and seamlessly communicates with the new gearbox, receives its first application in an Aston Martin that combines the AM29 V12 engine and an automatic gearbox.

Uprated dampers on the new Vanquish – 15% stiffer at the front and a full 35% stiffer at the rear – improve the dynamic characteristic of the car in line with its significantly enhanced performance. Rapide S, meanwhile, gets uprated larger front brakes. Both cars also benefit from a retuned brake booster and amended rear suspension bushes that are now 20% stiffer than before. There are other minor changes to the two models as well.

The global market introduction of 15MY sports cars begins in Q3 of 2014, with more details on market-specific pricing and options available in due course.

  • Aston Martin Introduces 2015 V12 Vantage S Roadster

Aston-Martin-V12-Vantage-S-Roadster-THuMB2015 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster is one of the most powerful and fastest cabriolets on the market. The company plans to enter the vehicle on the market worldwide later this year. This model is set to deliver great sporting agility highlighted by an enviable sports ‘soundtrack’. The latter of course is generated by its naturally aspirated V12 engine and the tuned sports exhaust system. All in all V12 Vantage S Roadster is the mechanical embodiment of Aston Martin’s exceptional spirit – beautiful, potent and dynamic.

To go into details, under the hood of the new cabrio sleeps the 565 hp (415 kW) AM28 6.0-litre V12 engine. It features Bosch engine management and is capable of accelerating the car from 0 to 60 mph in only 3.9 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited up to 201 mph.

In addition, the utilization of the three-stage adaptive damping, contributes to more precision in driving dynamics. There are three modes: ‘Normal’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Track’ that provide versatility in performance. This system also manages the level of power steering assistance.

The braking performance is ensured by carbon ceramic discs, while the new exhaust system is derived from the exclusive One-77 hypercar. Next, the ZF Servotronic power assisted steering offers a quick 15:1 ratio. It is linked to the adaptive damping button and also offers two-mode steering assistance.

In terms of exterior the new roadster has the emblematic grille, which is made of carbon fibre arrangement with sporty black or titanium silver mesh. It was created to optimize the airflow to the V12. Other distinguishing features include the lightweight forged alloy ten-spoke wheels.

  • Kahn And Evanta Collaboration Results in a Flying Huntsman and Barchetta

Ant_Kahn_production_vehicles-THUMBA. Kahn Design has teamed up with Evanta. The name of the newly formed team will be Ant-Kahn and they already have number of projects underway. The result of their collaborative partnership will be a hot-rod Defender and a custom Barchetta. Of course, the focus is on luxury and quality, which will be achieved via modern prototyping and manufacturing technology. At the same time both companies will also focus on the details that are associated with traditional coach building.

Afzal Kahn has revealed that they are already working on their future plans that aim to extend from coach-building to manufacturing series motor vehicles. He promises that number of models will come to fruition in the coming weeks and months.

Ant Anstead on the other hand stated that both British companies will be dedicated to continue building upon the historical excellence of British vehicle manufacture. For him the most important is to step upon and develop the traditions of hand finished coach building.

In the forthcoming months, Ant-Kahn plans to introduce the “Flying Huntsman” vehicle, which is a new take on the classic Land Rover Defender. If you remember, we have already seen this concept car in a sketch form. It will probably include the 6.2 litre V8 powerhouse coupled with a six speed electronic gearbox and will produce around 550 horsepower (404 kW).

After the production of the Huntsman, there will be a release of an Ant-Kahn original. This will be a retro-styled Barchetta that is scheduled to officially debut at the Goodwood Revival motor show. The third car planned to be built is a completely restyled Aston Martin WB12, which will be shown later this year.
