  • Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe SUV In Details

Mercedes-Benz-Concept-Coupe-SUV-THUMBMercedes-Benz Concept Coupe SUV was unveiled in the beginning of the month with a first picture and some details. Now, the German company is releasing a package of images as well as detailed information around this extremely sporty study concept. At first glance, the SUV impresses as a typical coupe with its flowing sideline, stretched cabin and striking radiator grille with central chrome louvre. At the same time, it stands out with its muscular wings, large wheel arches, 22-inch wheels, high beltline and generous ground clearance. Not to mention its dynamic handling on the road.

The four-door, all-wheel drive Coupe has a length of almost five metres, while its width is of two metres thanks to its broad shoulders and flared wheel arches. However, the height is around 1.75 metres, thus exhibiting the flat, extended roofline that is typical of a sports coupe. The concept sports recessed door handles and frameless side windows that blend perfectly into the vehicle flanks.

Mercedes Benz’ new concept SUV is painted in the “Alu Beam” paint finish, which is also reminiscent of the technically ground-breaking Silver Arrows of the 1930s and 1950s. Other highlights include upright sports grille with single louvre, framed by the three-dimensionally designed all-LED Multibeam headlamps.

Soft cubes dominate the grille insert. Harmoniously integrated illuminated side sills are reminiscent of the running boards found on classic SUVs or off-roaders. The direction indicators work with a moving digital light band whose lighting elements light up sequentially from inside to outside. In this way they indicate the change in direction in two ways.

The coupe nature of this concept SUV can be seen also in the design of the rear end with the slim band of rear lights and the registration plate incorporated into the rear bumper. Another feature is the typical shape of the rear window, which is rounded off at the top.

The tailpipes of the dual-flow exhaust system are integrated into the simulated underguard. Polished aluminium dominates here, as on the integral door handles, the side sills, the front air intakes and the edging of the cabin. At last, Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe SUV runs on wide 22-inch wheels with tyres in size 305/45 R 22.

  • 2015 Ford Mustang GT – Electronic Burnout Control System [video]

Ford US has won my heart with their latest technology called Electronic Burnout Control System. This is probably the best feature that car can have and will make you smile all day long, especially if you are behind the steering wheel of an all-new 2015 Ford Mustang GT.

The Electronic Burnout Control System is essentially a line-lock, which keeps the front brakes locked while releasing the rear brakes. The driver can hit the accelerator to do a burnout without having to balance one foot on the brake and the other on the gas. This also protects your rear brake pads and the clutch.

Of course, the spectacular system is  “intended for use only on racetracks”. The 2015 Mustang GT is powered by the upgraded 5.0-liter V8 engine – 420HP (310 kW) and 530 Nm (390 lb-ft).

“We’re using advanced controls technology for the all-new Mustang to provide some of our most dedicated fans with an industry-first feature they can use when they go to the track. With electronic line-lock, customers who drive their Mustangs to work all week and then compete on the weekends will appreciate not having to modify their brake systems to be able to do effective tire prep at the drag strip.”, commented Mustang Chief Engineer Dave Pericak.

    Enjoy!

  • Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept Car [sketch]

Volkswagen has published several design sketches of the Golf R 400 Concept Car. The ultra-hot hatchback will make its official premiere at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show on April 19th. As you may suggest, it will boast extreme power and aggressive exterior.

Lemon Yellow highlights on the outside include the horizontal stripe across the grille, which, like the chrome strip on the Golf R, continues into the bi-xenon headlights, while the interior stitching is also ‘Lemon Yellow’.

    The four-wheel drive, DSG-equipped Golf R 400 will accelerate 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and the top speed will be 280 km/h (174 mph).

Ford-Mustang-GT-50-Year-Limited-Edition-THUMBFord Mustang GT 50 Year Limited Edition comes to pay homage to one of world’s most popular cars. Exactly, fifty years ago in 1964 the first Mustang debuted in New York. The Mustang GT 50 Year Limited Edition will be produced in the exact number of 1964 examples and will go on sale this fall. The latter features six-piston Brembo front brakes and 19-inch alloy wheels fitted with high-performance Y-speed-rated Pirelli P-Zero summer tires.

In fact, the design of the 19-inch alloy wheels is inspired by the unique Y-spoke design of the chromed steel wheels offered on the original Mustang. In particular, the front wheels are 9.0 inches wide and come with 255/40R tires, while the rear wheels are 9.5 inches wide and are with 275/40R tires.

  • Volvo S60L PPHEV Concept Debuts At Auto China

Volvo-S60L-PPHEV-Concept-THUMBVolvo S60L PPHEV Concept is to debut at the 2014 Beijing International Auto Show. PPHEV stands for Petrol Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, which means that an electric car, hybrid car and high-performance car are all rolled into one. This offers the driver an excellent combination of dynamic driving pleasure and great fuel economy. The production version of the model is planned to be launched in China early 2015 and will be built locally.

S60L PPHEV features the same electrification technology as the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid. The latter was world’s first diesel plug-in hybrid. In the new concept, however, the diesel engine has been replaced with a two-litre four-cylinder petrol turbo unit from the Drive-E engine family.

It produces 238 hp (175 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. Other key components in the powertrain are the crankshaft-driven ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) between the engine and the 8-speed automatic gearbox and the 68 hp electric motor powered by a 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

There are three driving modes: Pure, Hybrid or Power. In the default hybrid mode, the CO2 emissions are rated at 50 g/km, while the fuel consumption is just 2.0l/100 km. The all-electric range is 50 km. When both petrol turbo engine and electric motor are used together, they deliver 238+68 horsepower, 350+200 Nm of torque, and 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.5 seconds.

The concept can be recharged from a regular power outlet at home or in a car park. A full charge takes up to an approximately 4.5 hours. In addition, the model also has an AWD button, which activates the exceptionally responsive electric four-wheel drive
