  • McLaren F1 reunion

    McLaren F1 is a true legend. Still, after 20 years there is no faster normally aspirated production road car in the world. F1 GTR is the only car, which won Formula 1 World Championship, Indianapolis 500 and Le Mans 24 Hours. Furthermore, this was the first production road car to use a full carbon fibre monocoque.

    The first McLaren F1 car was launched on 28th May 1992 and delivered to its happy owner in December 1993.

    McLaren is a pioneer in carbon fiber technologies. They used carbon fibre chassis in 1981 for the first time. Nine years later, the carbon monocoque for the McLaren F1 was created and it weighs only 100kg and still has the highest levels of strength and safety. (more…)

    The Hulme Supercars manufacturer is based in Auckland. This is the only production road car to bear the name of a F1 World Champion.

    CanAm is an ultra high-performance, mid-engined roadster. It is built for both road and track use, but mostly for racing.   • VW Polo GTI, Golf R and Scirocco R at the SMMT Test Day 2010

    Visitors of SMMT Test Day at Millbrook on Thursday will have the opportunity to check VW Scirocco R and Golf R models. The new Polo GTI will also be available, it is set to come to the UK later this year.

    Top-of-range Polo is GTI model. It is powered by twin-charged 1.4-litre TSI engine developing 180 PS with amazing fuel consumption – 47 mpg on the combined cycle and emitting just 139 g/km of CO2. The engine is combined with seven-speed, twin-clutch DSG gearbox that channels drive through the front axle. There is a lot of aesthetic changes to the exterior as well as the interior of Polo GTI.     Subaru Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 is one of the most powerful hatchbacks on the market. It is powered by 2.5 litre four-cylinder turbocharged Boxer engine developing 400ps. Thanks to Cosworth’s extensive Formula 1 experience, this engine produces 33 per cent more power than originally from the factory. The power is put on the road through six-speed manual gearbox. The acceleration is astonishinrg – 3.7 seconds to 100 km/h and top speed of 155 mph ( electronically limited). The car covers a quarter mile in 12.75 seconds at a terminal speed of 107 mph. (more…)

  • ASI LX570 Invader – ooops INVADER L60

    Few weeks ago, most automotive blogs and tuning news sites, including us have exclusively published information regarding the ASI’s latest tuning creation, the ASI LX570 INVADER. But according to the latest official information, which comes directly from Satoshi Kondo, the CEO of the Japanese aftermarket expert ASI, the Lexus LX570 Wide Body conversion is a project engineered by Invader Technologies.

    To clarify the things even more, Mr. Kondo has dropped few rows of info for the newly created Invader Company.

    “Invader Technologies Co. Ltd. is a new performance tuning studio established in Nagoya, Japan in 2009.

    Despite being very new, the company is no stranger to the world of high-end performance vehicles: it is created by people who have vast expertise at the top level of world motorsport and high-end luxury vehicles. Invader Technologies is an independent company working in close partnership with the Japanese high-end tuning manufacturer ASI Corp—an established tuner renowned for their work with luxury and sports cars like Bentley and Ferrari. Our companies share customer service facilities and closely collaborate on a number of projects. Moreover, the lead designer for Invader’s vehicles is Mr. Satoshi Kondo, CEO of ASI.

     

    But rather than developing tuning upgrades to be sold separately, Invader Technologies is focused on producing complete cars from start to finish, working with the top models of Japanese manufacturers.     Now, with its new, real name – INVADER L60 – officially confirmed, the Lexus LX570 Wide Body transformation is the same off-roader that you have already read about. It boasts a stunning 5.7-liters V8 powerplant boosted to 600 horsepower via a specially crafted supercharger and carbon-tipped performance exhaust unit. On the outside, the top-end ride has aggressively styled wide-body kit reinforced by huge 22-inch alloys wrapped in high-performance tires.

    The INVADER L60 is capable to cover the classic sprint from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, before reaching its top speed.

  • Renault confirmed UK Pricing for Megane Coupe-Cabriolet

    UK Pricing and Specification for Megane Coupe-Cabriolet is now available

    Recently, Renault launched GT models for UK and now pricing and specification for Coupe-Cabriolet version are confirmed. This completed the range of Megane family. The car made its debut at Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. There is choice of two trim levels, Dynamique TomTom and GT, priced from £21,595.

    Renault Megane CC is available with range of six engine and transmission combinations, two of which are reserved for GT versions. New option is the EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) automatic transmission, available exclusively with the 1.5 dCi 110 engine, which, at 130 gr/km, gives the lowest CO2 emissions of any automatic versions in its class with a folding hard-top. A debut also makes the 1.4 TCe (Turbo Control efficiency) 130 engine. The third petrol engine is the 2.0 CVT 140, while the Dynamique TomTom powertrain options end with the 1.9 dCi 130.

    The two-version GT range is exclusively offered with the potent two-litre TCe 180 petrol engine or the high-torque, two-litre dCi 160 diesel powerplant.

    One of the most exclusive features of Megane CC is the electric panoramic folding glass roof as standard.

    The equipment of  Dynamique TomTom trim leves includes 17” alloys, 4x15W radio CD with Bluetooth and AUX input, air conditioning, automatic headlights and wipers, panoramic glass folding roof, cruise control, fixed glass wind deflector, hands free keycard, speed limiter and fully integrated Carminat TomTom satellite navigation.

    The GT equipment features bespoke sport front bumper with revised central air intake and gloss black detailing, and rear bumper with aerodynamic diffuser. The sporty version also includes a dark chrome surround for the windscreen frame and waistline, with matching door mirrors, door handles and front fog lights. Tthe stylish 18” alloy wheels and headlights with black surrounds complete the package.

    Inside the GT version features sports seats, aluminium-faced pedals, an analogue rev-counter and polished carbon interior door pull handles, outer air-vents and dashboard trim including GT badging. GT versions also boast rear parking sensors and electric folding door mirrors.

    As an option, the customer can order metallic paint (£405, including Malta Blue for GT versions), Dual Zone climate control (£410), heated front seats (£305), leather upholstery (£920), bi-xenon headlamps (£665), Carminat TomTom satellite navigation (£460), Arkamys 3D Sound radio with multifunctional TunePoint (£360) and removable wind deflector (£150).

    GT Line pack can be ordered on the Dynamique TomTom versions of Coupe-Cabriolet for £1,290. This includes specific 17” alloy wheels, electric folding door mirrors, rear parking sensors, and front and rear sport bumpers. The interior also benefits from the same enhancements as the GT models, with GT Line badging.

    Full pricing for the New Megane Coupe-Cabriolet range is outlined below. Ordering opens on 4th June, prior to showroom launch on 9th July.
