2014 Opel Astra GTC 1.6 CDTI – 136HP and 320Nm

Opel is now offering the new Astra GTC with the updated 1.6 liter CDTI diesel engine. It ensures a powerful and clean drive in the sporty compact coupe. The model is currently available on the market and priced from €24,390 (including VAT).

The 1.6 liter CDTI diesel replaces the 1.7 liter unit. The new power unit delivers more power (+7 HP and 20Nm) and boasts lower fuel consumption. The 1.6 liter CDTI produces 136HP (100 kW) and 320Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h in 10.2 seconds and a top speed of 198 km/h (123 mph). Additionally the elasticity is drastically improved – 80 to 120 km/h in 8.9 seconds instead of the previous 10.5 seconds.

The fuel efficiency stands at 4.1 liters / 100 km (57.3 mpg US or 68.9 mpg UK) in combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 109 g/km.

The engine is connected to an improved 6-speed manual transmission and features a start/stop system. A host of enhancements to the transmission components and shifting mechanisms, as well as to integration in the vehicle, led to noticeable improvements in comfort.

Other power units in Astra GTC’s range include the high-performance diesel 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI with 195HP (143 kW) and 400Nm (296 lb-ft) of torque; the top-of-the-line OPC model with 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol – 280HP (206 kW) and 400Nm (296 lb-ft). There is also a powerful 1.6 liter ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo – 170HP (125 kW) and 260Nm (193 lb-ft).

DP Motorsport Porsche 911 (964) – A Modern Classic

A year ago, the tuning specialists – DP Motorsport has unveiled their tuning package for Porsche 964 RS. The model featured a lot of modern technologies and now another Porsche 911 964 is going to get the same treatment.

All petrol-heads know that driving an old-school Porsche is a real challenge, so DP Motorsport installed a lot of modern technologies to a regular Porsche 964. It was fitted with an antilock brake system, a power brake unit, power assisted steering wheel, a precise gearshift, an updated modern chassis, sliding sun-roof and most important – AC (air-conditioning) system. All systems are fitted with usual perfection.

The exterior boasts a complete aerodynamics package made from from fiberglass. The sports car is finished in a striking lime green paint with a matte black hood as well as several white dots for additional racing feeling. There is also a set of lightweight and forged Fuchs rims – 7J x 17 ET55 fitted with 205/50 ZR17 (front) and 255/50 ZR17 (rear) tires.

The interior features classic sport seats, four-point safety harness, a Momo sports steering wheel and a lime green revcounter. DP Motorsport also offers different variations such as light yellow, blood orange or sport classic gray.

DP Motorsport is offering different power packages for the Porsche 964 – from 290HP (213 kW) for the 3.6 liter engine and up to 330HP (243 kW) by increasing displacement to 3.8 liters.

David Coulthard with Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series at Goodwood [video]

Mercedes-Benz has published an awesome video featuring David Coulthard behind the steering wheel of the impressive SLS AMG Black Series. The super-sports car tackled the famous 1.16-mile Goodwood Hill course.

Despite the sensational power of the SLS AMG Black Series, David goes easy through the course, which will host hundreds of racers and cars during the event. The course record was set in 1999 by Nick Heidfeld who managed to finish in just 41.6 seconds with McLaren MP4/13 Formula One car.

The SLS AMG Black series is powered by an uprated 6.2 liter AMG V8 with 631HP (464 kW) at 7,400RPM and 635Nm (470 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph). The SLS-AMG Black Series is just 1,550 kg (3,417 lbs), so the power/weight ratio is 2.45 kg/hp.

Other special features include coil-over AMG RIDE CONTROL performance suspension, AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system and the weight-optimized forged AMG light-alloy wheels with newly developed sports tyres. There is also an electronically controlled AMG rear-axle differential lock and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission. Available as an option, AMG can fit the sports car with special Aerodynamics package.

2015 GMC Sierra Denali with Magnetic Ride Control

GMC has recently announced the new Sierra 1500 Denali coming with minor upgrades. The most important feature is the magnetic ride control system offering improved comfort without sacrificing the payload and trailering capability.

Outside, the 2015 Sierra Denali features a new chrome grille, body-colored front and rear bumpers and a set of 20” alloy wheels. There is also a new pair of projector headlights, LED DRLs (daytime running lights) and a polished stainless steel exhaust tip.

Inside, the pick-up truck boasts leather upholstery, aluminum trim elements and luxurious heated and cooled front seats. The steering wheel also has a heating function. Some of the special featuere include “Denali” branded sill plates and an 8” Customizable Driver Display. The Bose premium audio system and a power sliding rear window with a defogger additionally improve the overall comfort. The options list includes a sunroof and a rear seat entertainment system with screens on the front head rests.

The engine range features an entry-level 5.3 liter EcoTec3 V8 with 355HP (265 kW) and 518Nm (383 lb-ft) and a powerful 6.2 liter EcoTec3 V8 with 420HP (313 kW) and 609Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque. RWD is standard, but there is an optional 4WD.

Hamann Lamborghini Aventador Limited [VIDEO]

Hamann Lamborghini Aventador Limited is what perfection looks like. Using as a basis the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 from the model year 2014 the exquisite tuners at Hamann have created magic. And this magic is due to the complete exterior makeover of the Lambo. For instance, the front and rear bumpers have been refreshed with added air vents. They of course additionally increase the cooling of the Aventador. At the rear there is a lightweight carbon fiber rear wing and diffuser for added downforce. Car’s exterior has been decided in stealth gray that perfectly harmonizes the carbon fiber as well as makes the poisonous green elements stand out.

Car’s engine is standard for the Aventador and is mated with a seven-speed independent transmission. This means that the power is rated at 700 hp (514 kW), while the torque at 690 Nm. 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth Gets Six-Speed Automatic Transmission

2015 Fiat 500 Abarth and Abarth Cabrio are now getting enhanced with the optional six-speed automatic transmission. It is a new feature for the MY2015 and it will be mated with the 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine. The powertrain produces 157 horsepower (115 kW) and 248 Nm (183 lb-ft) of torque. In addition, Fiat has ensured that both Abarth models will remain true to their high-performance heritage. In other words the six-speed automatic has been reinforced with more clutch plates and a more robust heat treatment. This allows higher torque capability.

Furthermore, the Sport mode calibration ensures more engaged driving experience. It features fuel-cut upshifts, rev-matching downshifts, brake-assist downshifts, corner gear hold and fast-off gear hold. There is also a more aggressive pedal map.

The interior of the cars also comes improved for the new model year. An instance is the featured as a standard advanced instrument panel with a 7-inch high-definition TFT cluster display. There has been also added a parking screen which helps drivers managing the reverse movement. Other interior updates include a redesigned center console with a new sports cup holder design.

Production for the 2015 Fiat 500 Turbo has also just begun. The model will include an optional automatic transmission. All 2015 Fiat 500 derivations will arrive at company dealerships later this summer.

Ford Focus ST With Global Reveal At Goodwood [VIDEO]

An absolutely new Ford Focus ST will make an official global premiere this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Ford is currently teasing the car with an image showing the part of its front and more importantly – a video, where you can see the car on the track. Despite these two visual teasers the company has left the mystery around car’s exterior appearance intact. There is also nothing said about Focus ST’s engine or any specifications, except for that it benefits from technology and quality improvements revealed earlier this year, so we will just have to wait till 27th of June.

At Goodwood, Ford’s new performance model headlines the First Glance category. In it, professional drivers showcase the car’s abilities on the world-famous hill climb. The model was initially launched in 2002. Since then it has sold more than 140,000 units in more than 40 countries.

Furthermore, at the event will happen something spectacular. On its first run each day, Focus ST will compete in real time against its twin featured in the Gran Turismo6 game for PlayStation3. A designated gamer at the Ford stand will match skills against Ben Collins and all that action will be displayed on big screens throughout the festival.

Another Goodwood debut will make the 2015 Ford Mustang, where it will be shown for the first time in the United Kingdom. A 5.0-liter V8 fastback will take part in the Supercar Classl. At the wheel will be Ford Team RS vehicle dynamics specialist David Put. The Mustang will be shown in both fastback and convertible forms.

Volkswagen Beetle Dune Concept Takes To The Road

Volkswagen Beetle Dune Concept was revealed in January at North American Auto Show and we didn’t expect to see or hear from it soon, but miracles happen. The car has currently made reappearance on the road in sunny Sylt, Germany. And although it remains a concept car, everything about it is feasible which makes it practically a production vehicle. And this is the reason we expect to see it very soon hitting the market.

Beetle Dune concept stands on the current production model. It actually uses the same 210 horsepower (155 kW) turbocharged petrol engine, which, if you remember well, is coupled with a six-speed DSG gearbox. The latter provides power to the front wheels.

The first thing that this Shiny little Volkswagen Beetle evokes in us is fun. And the engineers and designers have ensures that the driver will definitely have fun on any terrain. In particular, the body has been raised by 50 mm compared with a standard Beetle. In addition, this one runs on 19-inch wheels shod with large tyres, lending the car an all-terrain look.

A reminiscence of the classic Beetle makes the rear-mounted ski-rack. It is the perfect accessory not only for the ski-season, but also for the hot summer, because it can hold sandboard. There are some visual gimmicks that define the concept; just take a look at the front bumper honeycomb air intakes and LED turn indicators.

Also, inside things have been made production-friendly. The only specific interior element the additional passenger grab handle in place of the glove-box. There is also a 7.7-inch touchscreen positioned in the center console. What’s left is to expect to see this little jewel soon debuting as a production vehicle.

2014 Vauxhall Vivaro Van – Full Details

Vauxhall has presented the new 2014 Vivaro Van, which is set to build on the of previous generations. The model has started its production back in 2001 and since then it has a huge success. The all-new Vivaro boasts class-leading build quality and exceptional practicality. It comes with improved cargo dimensions as well as an excellent payload capability. The 2014 Vivaro is already available on the market and the first deliveries will commence in September.

The exterior boasts large, prominent grille, distinctive headlamps and the flowing blade side feature from Vauxhall’s multi-award-winning design language, it includes the characteristic forms of the brand’s passenger car models.

The headlamps are executed in high-gloss black moldings with embedded chrome accents that enhance their jewel-like effect. The daytime running lights come with signature Opel wing graphic design and are available with modern, crisp LED technology, giving the Vivaro an unmistakable look.

The engine range includes all-new turbo-diesel units with class-leading economy and low emissions. There are also several ecoFLEX variants with Stop/Start and braking energy recovery.

The rear suspensions is carefully tuned for maximum comfort and security and the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is now standard on all models. There is a new load-through option allows 4.15 metre-long stowage inside vehicle.

The pricing starts from £17,995 to £23,145 for the panel van, which is £450 less than the outgoing model. There are two trim levels: Vivaro and Vivaro Sportive; and four body styles – Panel Van, Combi, Double Cab and Platform Cab.

Ferrari F12 TRS – Officially Unveiled

Ferrari has officially unveiled the one-off F12 Berlinetta TRS. The open-top supercar is created through the company’s Special Projects division. Like all one-off Ferraris, the F12 TRS is the product of Ferrari’s now-classic approach of creating a truly integrated design. It thus has the same exceptional performance figures as the F12 Berlinetta.

The TRS model comes with an aggressive body kit and a minimalistic appearance for the interior. It features a lot less buttons and knobs as well as the controls for the audio system. The glove compartment, mats and holders have all been removed. Still, the interior comes with a nice combination of Alcantara, leather and black matte carbon fiber.

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta TRS is powered by the well-known 6.3 liter 65° naturally aspirated V12 engine – 740HP (544 kW) and 690Nm (509 lb-ft). 0-100 km/h – 3.1 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 8.5 seconds. The top speed is over 340 km/h (211 mph). The curb weight is a bit less than 1,525 kg (3,362 lbs). We are a bit disappointed to find out that the TRS doesn’t have a KERS system.

Although inspired by the traditional Rosso Corsa, the new bodywork colour was developed using multi-layer and micalised paint technologies.

Ferrari didn’t unveil an official price tag, but a rumor says that the customer paid close to $4.2 million for the one-off F12 Berlinetta TRS.

Carlsson 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Carlsson has presented their latest project based on the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class W205. The premium saloon comes with a number of nice styling upgrades and a wide array of performance packages are currently in development.

The exterior boasts a complete aerodynamics package comprising of a new front bumper with side air intakes and a spoiler lip (optionally available from carbon fiber). There is also a new front grille featuring a single chrome horizontal bar with Carlsson’s logo and is also available with an electro-polished stainless steel mesh. The same is available for the lower intakes as well.

At the rear, there is a new boot lid spoiler and new chrome tailpipes built into the modified rear diffuser. The tuning specialists fitted the W205 with a pair of wider side skirts. The stance is improved by a lowered suspension ( -30 mm) and wheels measuring between 18” and 20” fitted with low-profile tires. The sets are offered in different finishes including titanium, graphite or diamond.

The interior features a set of branded velour floor mats, wood and carbon fiber elements, illuminated door sill scuff plates, alloy pedals and different types of premium leather upholstery.

More hard-core drivers, especially those who might do trackdays, will appreciate the ride height, bounce and rebound adjustability offered by the more sophisticated coil-over suspension kit currently under development.

2014 Seat Leon X-Perience – A Rugged Experience

Seat has presented a rugged version of the Leon ST named X-Perience. It comes with a number of upgrades and will be exhibited in October at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The first deliveries are expected shortly after that.

2014 Seat Leon X-Perience boasts an increased ride height (by 15 mm) and some plastic body cladding giving the model a more more rugged appearance. There are also new front and rear aluminum underbody protection elements. The black anodized roof rails and set of 17” or 18” unique alloy wheels additionally improve the presence of the Leon X-Perience. Last, but not least are the bigger door sills.

The interior features brown leather and Alcantara upholstery with orange stitching. The normal models will get a fabric finish. There are also several special badges and a large 587 liter luggage compartment, which can be expanded to 1470 liters with rear seats folded down.

The engine range includes a 1.8 liter TSI – 180HP (132 kW) and 280Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque; a 1.6 liter TDI – 110HP (81 kW) and 250Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque and a 2.0 TDI with 150HP (110 kW) and 320Nm (236 lb-ft) or 184HP (135 kW) and 380Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. The engines are available with 6-speed manual or an optional DSG automatic transmission.
