EMIRAI 3 Concept Will Be Unveiled At the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced that its EMIRA 3 xDAS concept will feature next-gen driving-assistance technology along with further enhanced safety and comfort features. EMIRAI 3 will be officially unveiled at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show 2015 at the Tokyo Big SIght complex from October 29 to November 8.

Based on the EMIRA 2 xDAS Concept that was introduced back in 2013 at the Tokyo Motor Show, EMIRAI 3 will incorporate some of the ideas, but with evolved and revolutionized manner. It will even have that human machine interface, along with driver sensing, telematics and light control. All these tweaks are part of the slogan “Feelings come true”. So, let’s check out what does the Concept have to offer.

There is a special Multi-Bonding display on the dashboard that offers high visibility and operability, along with some pure aesthetic harmony with the other surrounding interior components. There are also high-visibility panels that reduce reflections and display details that can be changed according to driver’s preferences.

Furthermore, the machine can be operated without even looking at the display. The only needed thing is operator’s hand: by certain moves and gestures he can control the music volume, temperature and other adjustments. The operator can even write and he is not required to confirm each time he writes a character. Cool, right?

The HUD can create 3D images up to 10 meters ahead of the driver in order he keeps his eyes on the track. The display can be further adjusted, according to specific situations for even safer and easier driving. The hi-tech concept can even analyze and identify intersections with poor visibility and can even learn to react to certain locations and situations. And maybe the coolest new feature is the Telematics system. This is special software that tracks driver’s physical condition and suggests some breaks or certain actions to be performed. The system can also collect and share information about dangerous situations. How cool is that?

Volvo Made a Step Forward to Brand’s Ultimate Goal

2016 Volvo XC90 Excellence Volvo Cars will extend its range of compact vehicles with new segments of the so-called Compact Modular Arhitecture (CMA). It is expected to be equally or even more advanced than the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and it is also expected that the first car on CMA will be launched in 2017.

In fact, the simultaneous development of SPA and CMA is vital for Volvo’s product renewal and growth strategy that further involves replacement of every vehicle in the lineup within the next four years and annuals sales volume of 800,000 automobiles. This process started with the launch of the XC90 and will continue with the demonstration of the latest S90 premium sedan vehicle.

Also, CMA will allow the brand to offer customers the quality of a premium engineering and expanded list of benefits. The technology of SPA and CMA will include engine improvements, enhanced safety systems and generally will try to achieve the ultimate goal: no deaths or injuries in Volvo automobiles by 2020. Impressive. But could the not-so-possible thing be really achieved?

ABT Sportsline Celebrates 40 Years of Volkswagen Polo

It is almost unbelievable that so much time has passed since this model was first introduced. But one of the best ways to celebrate the anniversary is to make a more powerful and better looking variant of the latest edition of the Polo. At least, this is ABT Sportsline’s opinion on the matter.

The New Generation

New Generation is actually the name of the performance upgrades, based upon a specially developed control unit and created by the tuner. They allow the Polo V to pump out more than 230 hp (169 kW) from its 1.8 TSI engine. Just for a comparison, the serial number of the drivetrain is 192 hp (141 kW).

Furthermore, ABT specialists also wanted to achieve the best possible cornering characteristics, therefore they have installed the best sport-type springs, and lowered the front axle by 25mm and the rear by 30mm.

Next thing was to substitute the original 13-inch wheels with in-house made 18-inch ER-C fitted with 215/35 R18 tyres. Opel Astra TCR Finally Breaks Cover

Opel Astra TCR Front View Opel Astra TCR has gone official and is now revealed via several images that show its exuberance. The photos were made at the international TCR (Touring Car Racing) presentation at the circuit Jules Tacheny in Mettet, Belgium. And this is also where they have shown the car for the first time in front of public.

Astra TCR is a contemporary sports car that features unique combination of modern racing technology and advanced safety features. Opel has created it to give the opportunity to those who want to compete in short and long distance races like our famous 24-hours of Nürburgring.

Offered in a five-door variant, this Astra is powered by a potent two-liter turbocharged engine. It produces 330 hp (178 kW) and maximum torque of 420 Nm (310 lb-ft). Both numbers were determined by the “Balance of Performance” concept and they also ensurie that vehicle has enough propulsion for its curb weight of 1,200 kilograms. The powerplant is connected to a sequential, six-speed racing transmission with the paddle shift located on the steering wheel.

Deceleration happens with the assistance of the 378 mm brake discs and 6-piston brake calipers at the front along with 265 mm brake discs and 2-piston brake calipers at the back. And the best part is that the driver can modulate the braking balance from the cockpit.

This machine is geared with 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine, paired to a nine-stage automatic transmission, fine-tuned AMG suspension and Sports Direct-Steer system. And as always AMG team further enhanced the SUV, so it delivers smooth acceleration, versatile handling and some neat sporty additions.

Drivetrain system

The GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC impresses with its sporty spirit. Thanks to the V6 petrol engine which delivers a total of 367 hp (270 kW) and peak torque of 520 Nm driver can enjoy an emotive and pleasurable driving experience. Furthermore, the fine-tuned SUV has a top speed of 250 km/h (138 mph) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 miles) in just 5.7 seconds. Impressive, right?

Design

China Meets Buick Verano GS and Hatchback Later This Year

The two cars will target modern-customers, who look for better and more athletic driving experience. Although there is only a teaser image of the GS variant’s rear revealed so far, Buick has disclosed some interesting details. And here they are:

The forthcoming Veranos will have trendy and sporty styling, vigorous handling, exclusive and very comfortable interiors and a lot of advanced technologies included.

The Hatchback gets company’s characteristic low-slung and wide stance together with a double-sweep beltline and flowing bodylines. There is also a floating roofline and a front grille, which have been connected in shape and design with the wing-shaped headlights.

Buick Verano GS is way sportier than the hatch and has additional styling elements that highlight these athletic qualities. It will be offered in a wide range of colors and will have optional interior and exterior packages. Precisely, the available equipment adds black waterfall grille, aerodynamic spoilers, bright red strips for the front and rear bumpers, bright red brake calipers and dark-painted five-spoke aluminum alloy wheels.

Despite the differences between the two versions of the Verano will incorporate GM’s new Ecotec small engines. They will deliver powerful performance but at the same time exceptional fuel economy. The Hatchback will be driven by a 1.5L SIDI naturally aspirated engine. The unit will be connected to a six-speed intelligent manual transmission or six-speed DSS intelligent automatic transmission.

Verano GS has a 1.5T SIDI turbocharged engine mated with a seven-speed DCG intelligent transmission. The power output of the unit is rated at 170 hp (124 kW) at 5,600 rpm, but still manages to deliver combined fuel consumption of only 5.9 L/100 km.

The latest generation Buick Verano sports sedan was launched on June 27. Verano Hatchback and Verano GS are to be revealed later this year, and are specifically intended for China.

Bumblebee Inside and Out: Meet Carlex Design Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

Carlex Design Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Side View Bumblebee is probably everyone’s favorite Chevrolet Camaro model and especially in the case they are ‘Transformers’ series fans. The popular car is dressed in the aggressive color combination of black and blue and its interior has been made all black. And here is where Carlex Design tuners have found a flaw. Wouldn’t it be more harmonious if cabin’s design theme is in black and yellow too? The answer to this question is positive and here is the result.

The new striking cabin of the Bumblebee is due to the work of the talented designers at the Carlex Design. As you can see it is in perfect harmony with the exterior of the car. By the way, this particular unit comes from the model year 2014, but this doesn’t hamper us of admiring it.

So, what did happen to the cabin? The transformed and improved interior highlights the sharp lines of the chassis, but at the same time it does other things and they are regarding the materials used inside.

Here are the details: The clearly visible contrast has been created via the use of ultra rich black Nappa leather and the vivid yellow tone of the leather from Lamborghini range. As a result, the designers achieved an internal compliment to the external distinctiveness of body’s appearance.

2016 BMW M2 Comes Style, Power and Neat Engine Flexibility

2016 BMW M2 BMW M2 is the latest compact sporty coupe and just like its 2002 Turbo, E30 M3 and 1M Coupe siblings it offers contemporary gadgets, hi-tech engineering solutions and latest tendencies in motor sport technologies.

Geared with new and fresh 3.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, paired to a seven-speed M DCT gearbox, the machine produces a total of 370 hp (272 kW) and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds. These high performance stats are the result of the fine blend between base 2 Series Coupe body, improved aerodynamics and revised cooling capabilities. And of course, the engineering team has managed to reduce some of the overall weight. All these ingredients contribute to a pure and rewarding drive.

Design

The latest M family member features a large front apron with trapezoidal blades while the Air Curtains in the outer air intakes are inspired by the well-known BMW 3.0 CSL model. And thanks to the overall engineering tweaks, the vehicle has improved channeling of the airflow and the drag is reduced with overall 5%.

The rear highlights its firm grip on the road and it is further enhanced by these sweet horizontal lines, the nice spoiler and the diffuser.

And the sweetie can be ordered with one of four distinctive colors: Long Beach Blue metallic, Alpine White, Black Sapphire and Mineral Grey

Interior

The cabin welcomes driver and passengers with neat sporty seats, covered n black Dakota leather with blue stitching and the compulsory M logo. M2 offers extended range of gadgets and tweaks like the Navigation Professional system, Professional Media Package and Xenon headlights. Yep, all these are part of the standard package. And the good news is that everyone can add some optional features.

Drivetrain system

Let’s get back to the engine. The latest BMW M2 entirely sticks to the BMW M tradition. The latest unit brings that smooth and pleasurable ride, but it will instantly show its aggressive side once you hit the pedal harder. It offers linear power delivery and strong torque across a broad rev range and on top of that has a distinctive and pleasurable roar.

The 370 hp monster has a peak torque of 465 Nm between 1,400 and 5,560 rpm. And you shouldn’t be worried if it is not enough for you. The new M2 offers a special overboost function that raises the overall torque level with 35 Nm.

In addition, this unit can be paired to either the standard six-speed manual gearbox with dry-sump lubrication and speed control function or with the optional latest-gen seven-speed M DCT. It offers the option to use it manually or automatically by changing its modes with buttons on the centre console.

Made by the Subaru Australia’s long-term motorsport partner, Possum Bourne Motorsport (PBMS), the new variant of the WRX STI has many qualities to be proud of. And by the way, this WRX STI NR4 represents just one of three tiers that can be specified by customers.

What does the NR4 give to the Subaru WRX STI? First, there are six option packs. The specialists also included cover for the engine, new and much better brakes, improved driveline and suspension, and special gravel and tarmac packs.

The available PBMS packages are perfect for amateurs as well as professional drivers. And the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine under the hood of the car is only available locally in this motorsport model, which will be offered in two exterior colors: white and WR Blue.

Subaru WRX STI NR4 Interior

The best part is that the WRX STI NR4 cars are FIA-homologated and can compete in the FIA WRC2, ERC2 regional and progressive national championships, because they meet FIA’s new NR4 regulations.

All WRX STI NR4 cars are allowed to be used only for motorsport purposes and are not road-legal. If you are a future buyer, you also need to know one more thing: you should fit an FIA-approved roll cage, which can be ordered at the time of purchase for fitting pre-delivery.

Subaru WRX STI NR4 will be produces in limited numbers and are soon to be on displayed at Subaru Interactive at the Docklands. No words about the exact time of the market debut were disclosed.

dÄHLer Tuning Know-How: Perfect for the BMW X5 M and X6 M

dÄHLer BMW X5 M Front and Side View Daehler is mainly known for its know-how in modifying BMW vehicles. This time under their expertise fell the X5 M (F85) and X6 M (F86) models, because they have one main thing in common: their potent M-TwinPower-Turbo-V8 engine. This powerplant has a standard output of 575 HP (423 kW) and 750 Nm (554 lb-ft). Therefore, DAEHLER were obliged to create a two step program which enhances car’s horsepower capabilities. And here are the details:

Stage 1

After the tuning included in the Stage 1, the BMWs equipped with the same engine, can produce up to 664 HP (488 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 820 Nm (605 lb-ft) of torque at 3,000 to 5,000 rpm. Thanks to this power- improvement and the quick-response 8-speed M-sports automatic gearbox, the cars can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. The top speed after this stage is 305 km/h (190 mph).

Stage 2

dÄHLer BMW X5 M Engine

Stage 2 adds even more! It brings the power output levels up to 680 HP (500 kW) at 6,600 rpm and 860 Nm (635 lb-ft) at 3,200 to 4,600 rpm. The above-mentioned sprint happens even more rapidly – within 3.8 seconds, while the Vmax stays the same.

Other Modifications

But don’t think that this is the only thing done on these cars. Besides the uprating, dÄHLer decided to give the BMWs individualization programs. They contain high performance catalysts, stainless steel exhaust systems, adjustable in hardness and height high performance chassis, wheels of 22 or 23 inches and interior optimization. What more could one ask for?

Bad News For Drift Lovers: Irtwindale Speedway Might Well Close Doors

Rockstar Energy Drink driver Tanner Foust has returned to the House of Drift and put on one hell of a show for fans. What is more interesting (and sad) though, is that this might well be one of the last shows in Irtwindale Speedway, which is considered as the spiritual home of the art of drifting in US, because it is slated for closure.

Committees have yet to announce details for the 63-acre facility, which is believed to be converted into a shopping center.

As you might know, or remember, Formula Drift’s first championship took place 12 years ago and Irwindale Speedway has been the traditional spot for this event ever since then. And now, what is more shocking, is that this year the contest officially sold out literally hours before gates opened for the main event. At the meantime there were about 400, 000 TV viewers that were going to witness the event from their homes.

Favorite to many, the high-skill and high-control sliding race variation originates from Japan and it is now one of the fastest growing forms of motorsport in the world. Vehicles that are especially tweaked for drift races often produce more than 1,000 horsepower and are especially designed to deliver enhanced steering and a precise behavior on turns.

Although it is loved and ever-expanding type of race, the passion for drift couldn’t save a place like the Irwindale Speedway.
