Ford has announced that the SE and Titanium grades of its all-new, 2012 Focus model are about to offer enthusiasts a whole new dimension of driving dynamics, a dimension available through all-new, special optional handling packages.

Besides the reinforced driving and handling levels across the whole 2012 Focus lineup, via the now standard specifically tuned electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) system, independent Control Blade rear suspension and torque vectoring control, both, the SE and the top-of-the-range Titanium models are about to be available with even sharper, agile and more confidence-inspiring handling properties.

Mark Rushbrook, Ford vehicle dynamics manager for the 2012 Ford Focus shared:  “Our enthusiast customers told us exactly what they want in an all-new Focus. They asked us to give Focus more responsive handling, and they asked that we develop and offer a factory-engineered handling package with beefier suspension hardware. We’ve done just that, fine-tuning a pair of available packages for mid-level SE and up-range Titanium models.”

Dubbed Sport Package, the optional kit for the 2012 Ford Focus SE will include sport-tuned suspension, 16-inch aluminum wheels, sport seats, four-wheel disc brakes, piano black grille, metallic interior trim accents, leather-wrapped steering wheel and standard five-speed manual transmission. Exclusively on the Focus SE four-door models, the new optional pack will further add a sleek rear spoiler, while the SE-grade rides with PowerShift dual-clutch transmission are going to get a SelectShift Automatic functionality for manual override gear selection.

On the range-topping Focus Titanium model, the optional pack – Titanium Handling Package – is about to feature stiffer springs and dampers, special 18-inch lightweight alloys, low-profile summer performance tires and a trunk-mounted full-size spare.

At the North American market, the 2012 Ford Focus with optional handling packages is scheduled for market launch in the early 2011.
