Hyundai 1.6L T-GDI – 211PS and 265Nm

Hyundai will put the new 1.6 litre T-GDI turbo petrol engine in the 2012 Veloster and later it will also appear in the upcoming 2013 Hyundai ix30 and next-generation Kia ceed. The turbocharger will significantly improve the performance and the response of the engine.

The turbocharger also increases efficiency at low engine speeds, which lowers emissions and improves the fuel consumption.

The 1.6 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates 211PS (155 kW) at 6000RPM and 265Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque between 1600RPM and 5000RPM.

The 1.6L T-GDI direct-injection engine is a part of the manufacturer’s new initiative called Blue Drive which aims to lead the automobile industry in fuel efficiency and sustainability.

More details will be available after the official revealing of the engine at the 2011 New York Auto Show.

DMC Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

The German tuning company DMC is already working on a styling package for the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. The car was unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show just before a month.

Aventador LP700-4 looks amazing and its aerodynamics allow speeds in excess of 350 km/h, still it can be imrpoved and DMC is working on that.

The styling package of the tuned consists of a carbon fiber front lip, side splitters and aerodynamic side skirts.

DMC is currently accepting pre-orders, but there is no information when they will began production of the parts and what are the price lists.

Gino Gargiulo, DMC’s investor and name donor to this kit, has purchased one of the rare models that will be shipped as part of the first wave.

LP700-4 is powered by 6.5 liter V12 with 700PS (515 kW) and 690Nm (509 lb-ft).

2011 Kia pro Cee’d 4

2011 Kia Pro Ceed 4 KIA has revealed the new 2011 pro Ceed 4, which is the successor of the existing pro Ceed 3. The facelift will include the Schreyer grille and a new more powerful 1.6 litre diesel with 126BHP. The acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is in 10 seconds and the top speed – 196 km/h (122 mph).

2011 Kia pro Ceed 4 has 17” alloys, black bezel headlights and privacy glass to help create the sporty exterior appearance. The interior boasts ull black leather upholstery combined with front heated seats and a leather trimmed steering wheel to add a luxurious feel. There is also Cruise control, which is fitted as standard.

The SAT NAV system with a 7” full colour touch screen is available as an option. There are also a variety of extra features includes a large selection of European maps, points-of-interest and multi-route planning.

The Bluetooth system can be operated through the touch screen with the ability to download mobile phone directories from up to eight mobile phones. An advanced reversing camera system offers a view of obstacles to the rear of the vehicle and is displayed though the Sat-Nav screen.

2011 Kia pro Ceed 4 is priced at £18 495 with seven year, 100 000 miles, warranty.

2012 Chevrolet Malibu interior [teaser]

Chevrolet has released another teaser for the 2012 Malibu. This time the picture is from the interior and it was posted on Facebook.There is no further information about the extras, but 2012 Malibu will feature a nice infotainment system, high quality material, a start button and the steering wheel from the Cruze.The new Malibu is an addition to the global lineup and will join the Volt, Cruze, Aveo and Spark models.2012 Chevrolet Malibu is expected to be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 19^th. Caterham Supersport

Caterham has introduced the new Supersport model, which is derived directly from the race car that competes in the highly-successful CSC (Caterhmam Supersport Championship).

Caterham Supersport is powered by 1.6 liter Ford Sigma engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The car features „sprint” ratio gearing, lightweight flywheel and race-prepared suspension with CR500 Avon tyres on 13” wheels.

The curb weight of Supersport is 520kg and the acceleration is more than awesome – 4.9 seconds to 60 mph and a top speed of 120mph.

Caterham Supersport also features a motorsport-honed limited-slip-differential and gearing with sports driving in mind. The uprated springs and dampers are borrowed directly from its race car cousin, stiffer anti-roll bars, track biased dash with integrated change up lights and an aero screen.

Supersport is priced at £22 995, but the real enthusiasts will be able to purchase in component form for £19 995.

“We’ve built faster and more powerful accelerating cars before, but the Supersport’s character, value and low running costs have generated a machine that will excite sportscar fans, including those on a budget.”, commented Caterham Cars engineering director, Mark Edwards.

2011 BMW Z4 GT3

2011 BMW Z4 GT3 is designed specially for private racing teams. The new version of the racing car includes aerodynamic modifications, advanced engine management system, a steel safety cell, and a variety of CFRP components.

The aerodynamics package includes front and rear wings, bonnet, roof, fenders and many other components are made of carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP).

The new Z4 GT3 is powered by a new 4.4 liter V8 mated to a a 6-speed sequential gearbox. There are no further specifications, but the previous version of the V8 with 4.0 liters of displacement, the power was in excess of 480PS (353 kW).

The goal of the latest modifications was primarily to improve aerodynamic efficiency in order to grant the car’s competitiveness in the many, hard-fought GT3 classes.

Audi A3 e-Tron

Audi has revealed A3 e-Tron, which is based on the Sportback version of the model.

Audi A3 e-Tron is powered by an electric motor developing 136PS (100 kW) and 270Nm (200 lb-ft). This power unit weighs around 65kg and offers 82PS (60 kW) of continuous power. All power is send to the front wheels through a single gear transmission. The acceleration is pretty good for an electric vehicle – 0 to 100 km/h in 11.2 seconds and top speed of 145 km/h (90 mph).

The electric motor receives power from a lithium-ion battery pack, which is placed in the floor of the luggage compartment and under the rear seats. The batteries weighs 300kg and can supply 26.5kWh of energy at 380 volts. Still, A3 e-Tron offers 265 liters of luggage space. The power is enough for a range up to 140 km, however, if A3 e-Tron is in dynamic mode, the range drops very fast. The other mode is Efficiency and it offers full range.

On a regular, 230V socket, the Audi A3 e-Tron requires 9 hours to fully recharge. If there is a 400V socket, the time is dropped in half.

Porsche 911 SC – Walter Röhrl at the 2011 Targa Tasmania

Walter Röhrl, his co-driver Christian Geistdörfer and their Porsche 911 SC are taking part of 2011 Targa Tasmania rally, which is between 5th and 10th April. The hard road rally is held over 2 000 km on the island of Tasmania, off the south-east coast of Australia.

The 911 SC was restored by the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. It is one of three cars from the company’s „Museum on Wheels” that will be participating in the Classic section of this year’s event. The other iconic sports cars are: 718 RS 60 Spyder (1960 Targa Florio winner) and the 908/2 Spyder (1969 Targa Florio winner).

Rally Targa Tasmania starts with a Prologue near Launceston April 5 and finishes in Hobart on April 10. It includes 38 competitive stages totalling over 500 km.

2011 Jeep Compass UK

2011 Jeep Compass will hit the UK market on 15 April. It is priced at £16 995 for the entry version, but the price can go up to £23 995 for the top-of-range model.

Compass will be offered in either two or four-wheel drive version. This is the first SUV from the company, which will be available in two-wheel drive and it is specially aimed to the hatchback owners who want to trade up. These buyers don’t need four-wheel drive, but want the styling, image and practicality of a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). However, the 4×4 version will please the off-roaders with its improved quality of the interior and exterior inspired by Grand Cherokee.

There will be four trim levels, with 4×4 Limited and 70^th Anniversary versions on sale this month. The entry-level Sport and Sport+ versions will join the range in August.

The engine range includes two petrol and one diesel. These have four power outputs and offer significantly improved performance and economy over the engines they replace.

The Limited and 70^th Anniversary models will feature a chrome exhaust tailpipe and sit on new 18” alloys. The Sport and Sport+ come with smaller 17 inchers as standard.

2011 Compass comes with cruise control along with backlit switches for the door handles and locks, power mirrors and windows as standard. The safety is granted by active front headrests, and next-generation multi-stage front airbags with side curtain front and rear airbags as standard.

The automatic climate control is also standard, except the Sport which features manual air-conditioning. Front seat passengers sit in sumptuously padded bucket seats, covered in leather with accent stitching in the Limited and 70^th Anniversary models, premium cloth in other versions. A six-way power adjustable driver’s seat and heated front seats are standard in the Limited and 70^th Anniversary.

Sport and Sport+ models include a Media Centre CD player and MP3 compatibility, while the Limited and 70^th Anniversary add a six CD system. All models have four speakers and an audio jack for connecting MP3 players. Owners of Sport+ models and above have a USB socket and can connect their mobile phones and use them handsfree with Uconnect Bluetooth.

The SAT NAV is available as an option on Limited and 70^th Anniversary versions. It includes a 30GB HDD and a 6.5” touch screen.

The new 2.2-litre CRD turbo diesel engine has either 134BHP or 161BHP and 320Nm available from just 1400RPM.

The petrol engines are either 2.0 or 2.4-litres. Both feature dual Variable Valve Timing on the twin overhead camshafts. They deliver more power and offer better fuel economy and smoother, quieter operation.

The gearboxes are 5-speed manual for 2.0 litre petrol, 6-speed manual for the 2.2 diesel and the 2.4 litre petrol is available with the CVT2 Continuously Variable Transmission.

Jeep vehicles were first produced in 1941 and they become legendary with their capability.

Suzuki Swift X-ITE

Suzuki has released a number of styling accessories for Swift. They will give the car more distinctive appearance and make the car unique.

The range of accessories includes a new front bumper, a revised rear bumper, modified side skirts, vinyl graphics, big 17” alloys and a roof spoiler. These upgrades make Suzuki Swift to look rather aggressive with much better presence on the road.

The interior boasts stainless steel door sills, an aluminum gear knob and embroidered floor mats, so the driver and the occupants will feel much cosier.

MONO lightweight sportscar

MONO lightweight sportscar will be delivered to one of the most exclusive track-driving car clubs – RS Academy. The vehicles will further enhance its existing fleet of blistering supercars.

6 Bertone concept cars will be auctioned

Six iconic concept cars by Bertone will be sold at the RM Auctions, which specializes in rare classics. The reason is the bankruptcy of the Italian design house.

The vehicles are just amazing – a 1963 Chevrolet Testudo, a 1967 Lamborghini Marzal, a 1970 Lancia Stratos HF Zero, a 1974 Lamborghini Bravo, a 1978 Lancia Sibilo and 1980 Lamborghini Athon.

The Lamborghini Marzal and the Lancia Stratos HF Zero are expected to sell for between €1 000 000 and €1 800 000.

1963 Chevrolet Testudo boasts 2.7 litre six-cylinder engine with 142BHP (106 kW).

1967 Lamborghini Marzal is powered by a 2.0 litre 175BHP (130 kW) in-line six-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

1970 Lancia Stratos HF Zero has a a 1.6 litre V4 engine with 132BHP (98 kW).

1978 Lancia Sibilo, there is no information about the car.

1980 Lamborghini Athon is powered by 3.0 litre V8 with 260BHP (194 kW). The car was never intended to be put into production, because of Lamborghini’s financial troubles at the time sealing its fate.

The auction will take place at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Como, Italy, on May 21.
