  • LOMA and its Ferrari F12 Berlinetta: Beauty Comes in Simple Modifications

LOMA Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Front ViewFerrari F12 Berlinetta is one of the most wanted vehicles around the world. If anyone has every seen it on the streets or even had the opportunity of driving it, he or she stays deeply and forever touched. Famous for its beautiful exterior, aerodynamic proportions and powerful capabilities, the Berlinetta is a true masterpiece and legend among other cars.

This Ferrari is driven by the staggering 6.3 liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, which produces 740HP (544 kW) and 690Nm (509 lb-ft) of torque. And for this reason, the tuners at LOMA decided not to do anything about increasing the power output of the F12.

So, in other words, the beautiful supersports car has received minor updates that further enhance its appeal and bring forward its athletic character. What kind of changes has been made? The answer is very simple ones.

    Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Rear View

First, the chassis of the F12 Berlinetta has been strengthened by a Novitec chassis. In this way, LOMA experts have ensured that the car will be more than ready to drive on the new wheels they have given it.

Speaking of alloys, they are LOMA Stream Superlight Concave and come in dimensions of 9,5×21 inches at the front and 12×22 inches at the rear. They have been fitted with ContiSportContact 5P tires. The rubbers are sized 255/30ZR21on the front axle and 335/25ZR22 on the rear axle.

In other words, LOMA’s work was simple, but very adequate and perfectly corresponds to Ferrari F12 Berlinetta’s design philosophy for stylishness and class.

  • Audi e-tron quattro concept is the Next Tesla Model S Competitor

Audi e-tron quattro concept Front ViewAudi e-tron quattro concept has been revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it seems that it is the next competitor of Tesla Model S as well as of Porsche Mission E, which we have shown you a few days ago. Just like Mission E, Audi’s electric concept has 500 km range on a single charge. However, it is little less powerful: it can produce only 503 hp in comparison to Porsche’s 600 hp.

With its flow-enhanced design, this concept achieves a drag coefficient of 0.25. By the way, it is pretty obvious that this EV is Audi’s official statement about the future of electric mobility. At first glance it seems that the e-tron quattro concept has got it all: it is sporty, efficient and suitable for everyday use. But let’s see in details what it is all about.

    Electric Concept

This car utilizes the power of three electric motors. The first one drives the front axle, while the other two – the rear axle. Their total output is 320 kW or 435 hp. As a matter of fact, the driver can mobilize up to 503 hp (370 kW) and over 800 Nm (590.0 lb-ft) of torque, but this happens only temporarily while boosting. Given this force, the concept study can perform like a sports car.

SEE ALSO: Audi e-tron quattro Concept Revealed with First Sketches. Debuts in Frankfurt

The acceleration time is also impressive, and especially when we talks about an EV. The 0-100 km/h (62.1 mph) sprint can be covered in 4.6 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited at 210 km/h (130.5 mph).

Integrated into the floor of the passenger’s compartment is a large lithium-ion battery. The battery has a capacity of 95 kWh, which enables a range of more than 500 kilometers (310.7 mi). How about the charging? The Combined Charging System (CCS) comes in help when charging with DC or AC electrical current. And for a full charge (with DC) at a charging column with an output of 150 kW takes just 50 minutes.

There is even an alternative: the concept is equipped with Audi Wireless Charging technology for contactless induction charging, and there is also a large solar roof which provides electricity for the drive system battery on sunny days.

    Aerodynamic Exterior

Audi e-tron quattro concept Rear View

It is rather a true statement that it is a necessity for an electric vehicle to have aerodynamic exterior. Audi e-tron quattro concept is 4.88 meters (16.0 ft) long, 1.93 meters (6.3 ft) wide and just 1.54 meters (5.1 ft) high. Its forms are so fantastically managed ad designed that its drag coefficient measures just 0.25.

And this is one of the main reasons for the long range. And even the rearview mirrors have been removed for better aerodynamics. They have been replaced with cameras and it seems that this is one of the newest and most preferable technologies of the future of driving.

Other cool features in the exterior include the front headlights with Matrix laser technology. The bottom section houses five lighting elements, each of which combines an LED luminary with an extremely flat OLED element (organic light-emitting diode).  As a mater of fact, this Matrix OLED technology is currently under development for future use in production use. The rear lights also have two sections with nine red OLED units for the tail light function and three more below.

    The Interior

The cabin is spacious and comfortable, and suitable for four persons. All displays inside use OLED technology contributing for the further development of the new Audi virtual cockpit. Below the fully-digital instrument cluster are two touch displays with black glass and a subtle aluminum frame. The left display is controlled by the driver when he or she wants to change the lights and the systems for piloted driving. The right display is for media and navigation management.

There are also two more OLED displays for the drive system status, climate control and other information functions. At the rear, the passengers sit on comfortable individual seats. They can connect via LTE module to the Internet.

We are definitely excited to see if and when this concept will eventually come in production. Would it be a true rival of the Model S? Your thoughts?

  • Nissan Gripz Concept Highlights Brand’s Future Design Direction [VIDEO]

Nissan Gripz Concept Front and Side ViewNissan Gripz Concept is here! The innovative crossover has just been revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show giving a glimpse of the future design direction for the Japanese brand. The concept mixes two ideas: the first one is of practicality and the second – of a sports car performance. The first one is applied via the raised ride height that can tackle any condition, while the second one is clearly visible through the sports silhouette.

As a result we have a concept car, which pays homage to one of company’s first “crossovers” – the iconic Safari Rally-winning Nissan 240Z. A purely-bred rally racer, the car featured raised ride height, toughened suspension and sported a matt-black finish for the bonnet and trunk set.

SEE ALSO: Gripz Concept is Nissan’s Mysterious Crossover Debuting in Frankfurt [VIDEO]

It is pretty obvious that Nissan Gripz Concept applies the same principles, but in more contemporary way and also features electric drivetrain.

    Powertrain

Speaking of the drivetrain, the concept is equipped with an EV technology based on series hybrid system “Pure Drive e-Power.” Here, an efficient gasoline engine is utilized to power the electric motor. By the way, the latter is used for the Nissan LEAF as well.

    Four Key Design Elements

    Nissan Gripz Concept Rear View

There are four key design elements incorporated in this concept: the V-motion grille, the boomerang lamps at the front and rear, the floating roof and the kicked-up C pillar. In fact, the exterior design of the car has been developed by the teams at Nissan Design Europe in London and Nissan Global Design Center in Japan. As a result, vehicle’s forms are guided by the “emotional geometry” body sculpting, which expresses strong contrasts through the dynamic, tensional, but edgy surfaces.

The concept is built over a carbon frame structure and features body panels which are placed like armored cladding. We can also see that there is a lot of carbon fiber used in this concept. They accentuate even further the special nature of the car.

At the front we see the typical Nissan’s V-motion grille, mounted low and framed by rectangular lamps with high and low beams. Boomerang-shaped running lights sit above the lamps.

The rear lamps mirror the boomerang shape of the front running lights and wrap themselves around the rear three quarters of the car. At the back there is also a matte-black Kamm tail, which gives the concept a “codatronca” effect. Beneath the tailgate there is pair of chromed trapezoidal exhaust pipes. Three-spoke 22-inch wheels are the running shoes of the Gripz Concept and they round out the exterior appearance.

    2+2 Interior

    Nissan Gripz Concept Interior

With four door, the front two with deep dihedral front doors that swing out and up when opened, and a pair of rear-hinged half-doors behind, the Gripz offers a 2+2 interior. The main philosophy about the cabin is expressed in two words: “functional simplicity”.

Matte-grey and the deep red-orange are the colors of choice for the interior. They haven’t been selected without meaning, but actually highlight car’s Tour de France inspiration. The same design inspiration has served for the creation of the exposed tubes, molded bucket seats and layered features.

If you take a closer look, then you will see that the seats and center console as well as the door pulls have been directly inspired by bicycles. In addition, the three-spoke steering wheel mimics car’s alloys.

“Gliding Wing” instrument panel has been also featured. With its elegantly thin design and simple outlook, it perfectly echoes the philosophy behind this concept.

Nissan Gripz Concept is currently on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show. And this is where Nissan will discover what influence this Concept’s design will have on the general public. Visit if you can!

  • Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept is Dedicated to the Fans. Takes the Stage in Frankfurt [VIDEO]

Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Front ViewBugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept is something you have already seen. But what you haven’t witnessed is its birth at the Frankfurt Motor Show, where it takes the stage to make an official premiere. The virtual concept has been designed exclusively for PlayStation and in particular for the video game Gran Turismo. However, Bugatti says that the car is dedicated to the fans. Why? Because thanks to the game, the supersports car can be accessed by millions of fans throughout the world. And this is company’s way to say ‘Thank you!’

Exterior Shows the New Bugatti Design DNA

The design of the car celebrates Bugatti’s racing tradition of the 1920s and 1930s, in particular its victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. It features innovative motorsport technology and is destined to mark a new chapter in the company’s history. The reason for this is that the virtual project gives actually a glimpse of the brand’s future design language.

SEE ALSO: 2015 Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept is Here and it is Real!

As a matter of fact, the designers and engineers worked together and in close collaboration to develop the virtual race car. There are two key points important for both teams: they had to create a virtual vehicle that has the distinctive Bugatti appearance, and second, every component of it should have a real performance function.

Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Front and Side View

The design is very real; and although the car is only a virtual project, it leaves the feeling that it will be a real production vehicle. By the way the project is based on development team’s latest simulation models of driving dynamics and aerodynamics. And if it was real it could drive at over 400 kph (250 mph) on four sections of the virtual Le Mans track. Well, the W16 engine that powers the car also helps for this purpose.

The exterior of this Bugatti is pretty impressive. It has the typical for the brand large convex surfaces, which are ‘contrasted’ with concave transitions and strong lines. The cockpit lies as low as possible and combined with the V-shaped front end and short rear overhang; they all indicate powerful forward thrust.

The design is so typically Bugatti: the famous Bugatti line for example is featured on the side profile of the Vision Gran Turismo. A signature two-tone finish also plays very important role ad makes a strong statement about the origin of this car.

Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Side View

The Bugatti symbol on the front grille and the eight-eye headlights at its sides also make a strong impact regarding the specifics of Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo’s design. As a matter of fact, the lights have aerodynamic function, because they act as air intakes to cool the brakes.

Furthermore, the centre fin is derived from the legendary 1936 Type 57 Atlantic. The rear in general looks spectacular. It features strong trailing edge that provides excellent driving stability, and exhausts the hot air from the engine compartment.

    Functional Interior

    Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Interior

The same design philosophy applied on the exterior has been implemented inside. The interior features clean lines, two-tone finish and is dressed in luxurious materials such as carbon fiber and finest leather for the upholstery. In fact, the striking centre fin of the roof is echoed in the interior. Here it divides the cockpit from the rest of the interior and merges with the central console below.

There are two convex displays that show important information. The first one is positioned on the steering wheel and shows all the relevant vehicle information. The second is located on the steering column and displays the images gathered from the three cameras mounted on the outside of the vehicle.

And if you happen to be at the Frankfurt Motor Show, join Bugatti at its stand, where the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo show car will be on display. The time to do that is between 17th and 27th of September.

  • Is Porsche Mission E the Next Tesla Model S?

Porsche Mission E Front ViewPorsche Mission E Sports Car Concept is the first battery-powered four-seat concept car from Porsche, which is having its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Having almost unlimited power (of 600 hp) and impressive driving range of 500 km, the Mission E concept is probably Tesla Model S’ biggest rival. Or at least this is what everyone is talking about. We must admit that if this EV enters production and is offered at a pricing similar to this of Model S, then probably Tesla would lose most of its potential clients. After all, this concept features the emblematic Porsche design… not to mention the 600 hp or the 15 minutes charging time. But let’s see the details.

    Mission E Stands for 600hp, 500km, and 15min

This is a big time in Porsche’s history, because the Mission E is the ever all-electric vehicle that it has ever suggested to the automotive scene. Combines the unmistakable design of a Porsche with the exceptional performance, it offers the practicality of the first 800-volt drive system. By the way, the 600hp were achieved with the help of technologies from endurance racing. Two permanently-excited synchronous motors (PSM) like those in the 919 hybrid, accelerate the sports car and recover braking energy.

SEE ALSO: Mercedes-Benz Concept IAA: Too Much Future in the Present

They both produce the enormous horsepower and they can actually accelerate the Mission E to a speed of 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds. The 200 km/h is reached under 12 seconds. Another benefit of these motors is that they can develop their full power even after multiple accelerations at short intervals. Furthermore, the concept sports car features all-wheel drive system with Porsche Torque Vectoring. The latter automatically distributes torque to the individual wheels.

The driving range… Well, the driving range is more than impressive. Porsche says that the Mission E can cover up to 500 km on a single charge which takes up only 15 minutes.

    Superior Driving Dynamics

    Porsche Mission E Rear View

But there are more benefits that the horses, driving range and charging time. Porsche needed to make the best out of this concept, so they decided to count on a lightweight construction with optimal weight distribution and a low centre of gravity.

For this purpose, the lithium-ion battery is mounted in the car’s underbody, and runs the whole length between the front and rear axles. This makes car’s centre of gravity extremely low, thus boosting the performance and driving pleasure. I haven’t mention that the body of this Porsche is a functional mix of aluminium, steel and carbon fibre reinforced polymer, while its wheels are absolutely carbon and measure 21-inch at the front and 22-inch at the rear.

    Exterior Design with Porsche’s DNA

    Porsche Mission E Side View

Mission E is instantly recognizable as Porsche. The height of just 130cm, integrated aerodynamics and distinctive air inlets and outlets on the front, sides and at the rear, are characteristic about this concept. We also spot a new type of matrix LED headlights in the brand’s typical four-point light design.

On the other hand, the distinctive front wings and an extremely low-cut bonnet reference 911 design. The design of the rear emphasizes the typical sports car architecture. The cool three-dimensional “PORSCHE” badge illuminates from thee inside and hovers beneath an arch of light that extends across the entire width in a black glass element.

    Interior with Four Single Seats

    Porsche Mission E Interior

The cabin of Mission E is pure, open and practical. It offers room for four via the exclusive race bucket seats. They are with lightweight design and give occupants secure lateral support during dynamic driving. Between the front seats there is a centre console, which looks like a bridge with open space beneath and reaches the dashboard.

The instrument cluster has five round instruments. They are all virtually displayed in OLED technology, i.e. by organic light-emitting diodes. The round instruments are organized according to the driver-relevant themes of Connected Car, Performance, Drive, Energy and Sport Chrono.

Furthermore, the entire dashboard is divided into two three-dimensionally structuring layers: the upper layer integrates the driver’s display. Between the levels there is a holographic display that extends far into the passenger’s side and shows individually selectable apps.

There are even virtual exterior mirrors! They are pretty impressive: the lower corners of the windscreen show the images of the outside cameras which are positioned in the front wings. In this way the driver can get a better view of the surroundings and have safety information on display if he or she wishes so.

To sum up, Porsche Mission E seems like a very good rival of Tesla Model S. But it is matter of time to understand, whether this car will ever enter production. Until then the team at Tesla can sleep uninterrupted. Any thoughts?

  • Mercedes-Benz Concept IAA: Too Much Future in the Present

Mercedes-Benz Concept IAA Front ViewMercedes-Benz Concept IAA has just been revealed. The vehicle is very interesting because it features design ideas that we see for the first time. It actually combines two cars in one: the first is all about aerodynamics and the second is all about style. When you combine both, you’ll have the Concept IAA.

But what is so special about this car? As you can see from the pictures it can change its forms. And it does so, when the vehicle reaches and surpasses 80 km/h. The result is that many parts of the concept change in order to bring about better aerodynamics. Inside, the “Concept IAA” offers a future representation of the design of the S-Class and S-Class Coupé, including new touch-based functions.

SEE ALSO: 2016 Audi S4 Avant Debuts Today at 2015 FIAA! [VIDEO]

And if you wonder what IAA means, well I won’t hide it. It stands for Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile. This fantastic concept can be seen in Frankfurt at the motor show event, which starts today.

    Below and Above 80 km/h

    Mercedes-Benz Concept IAA - Style

The big question that might concern you a little bit here is: ‘What happens exactly to this car when it reaches 80 km/h?’ And here’s the answer: from a beautiful four-door coupé the car turns into an aerodynamics world champion. At the rear, there are exactly eight segments which extend, thus increasing the length of the car by up to 390 millimetres.

In addition, at the front, the front flaps in the front bumper extend by 25 mm to the front and 20 mm to the rear, improving the air flow. But that’s not all; the Active Rims alter their cupping from 55 mm to 0, while the louvre in the front bumper moves 60 mm to the rear, improving the underbody air flow. Of course, behind these actions are hidden hundreds of hours of technological work and calculations.

    Exterior – Expressing Sensual Purity

    Mercedes-Benz Concept IAA - Aerodynamics

Concept IAA features exterior design that we haven’t seen before. Of course, it is instantly recognizable as a Mercedes, but its rear for instance seems like a Dodge inspired one. Well, as a basis the designers have used dynamic drop shape. It even seems like the vehicle interprets classic sports car proportions in a modern way.

Yes, the front and the sides are very impressive and are all aerodynamically dedicated, but the most interesting part of the exterior of this concept is the rear, where we see illuminated ring running around the rear end. And this makes us think that this is definitely a visionary concept car.

    Interior: the Touch-Based Design

    Mercedes-Benz Concept IAA - Interior

The cabin definitely looks spectacular! It is sporty, it is expressive, and it includes all of the luxury one could ever need. By the way, the design of the interior is a future interpretation of those of the future S-Class and S-Class Coupé cars. White has been chosen as a general color, but there are also some contrasts in anthracite as well as between aluminium and cut glass.

The touch-based operating philosophy provides the driver and occupants with high level of functionality. The two-spoke steering wheel incorporates touch-based operating functions like the OFN (Optical Finger Navigation) buttons, which enable the driver to scroll through the instrument cluster menus.

    A Hybrid?

Did you expect something else? In fact, in the world we live in, it is rather strange to make from such a futuristic concept a hybrid-driven one. I actually expected to see entirely electric vehicle. Well, the total output here is of 279 hp (205 kW), while the top speed is 250 km/h. CO2 emissions in all-electric range of 66 kilometers stay as low as 28 g per km.

All that is left is to see whether this concept will ever see production… even in 2025. I sincerely doubt it.
