Volvo announced that they are currently working on a 5-door C30 model, which will be released in late 2011 or early 2012 to compete against the dominator on the market – VW Golf.

The main misstake of Volvo is that they created only a 3-door version of C30, which by the way is awesome car offering great value for money. The interesting news is that the new model will be based on the current S40 and some features of C30 coupe, which Volvo derived from Ford’s Focus platform.

“We have to stop copying the Germans,”, commented Volvo CEO Stefan Jacoby.

“A new face is something we are looking at. We need a more distinguishing front end, and this will be the first step in our new models.”, he added.

  1. It is nice to see a Volvo in this class. I think it will be a big hit. With the price of Vw’s these days I feel if you can afford a VW then you can afford a Volvo.
