  • The Seventh Volkswagen Golf is Out

Volkswagen-Golf-VII-thumbVolkswagen-Golf-VII-mediumTime to get excited since the seventh chapter of a 38-year-old legend is at our doorstep. The Volkswagen Golf VII made its debut in Berlin. More spunk and less fat for this one. Back to the primitive then!

Well, not really. The latest incarnation of the best seller will be still as complicated as a car can be – a new Modular Transverse Matrix body (which is supposedly roomier), a new information and entertainment system and even more interfering assistance software. Nevertheless, the Wolfsburg boffins have managed to trim off 100 kg of weight.

The 140 PS petrol engine is also now 23 percent more fuel efficient thanks to an already developed and tested cylinder deactivation system (remember the Polo Blue GT?). Additionaly, throughout the engine range, a stop/start system comes and standard and battery regeneration as well. Subsequently, we get figures that feel more at home with today’s diesel engines – 4.8 l / 100 km. Speaking of diesels, the 105 PS TDI in the Golf VII happens to sip just 3.8 l per 100 km. Add to that a BlueMotion trim and you get 3.2 l and less than 86 g/km of CO2 emissions.

Do not for a minute think however, that the seventh Golf will slip through without newly installed plants. There are two entirely new generations of engines, designed to offer power from 85 PS to 150 PS.

Be on the lookout for a full specification list.

  • 2013 Volkswagen Polo BlueGT: dynamic and efficient

Volkswagen-Polo-BlueGT-thumb2013 Volkswagen Polo BlueGT has the potential to set new benchmarks. It combines the aspects of “dynamics” and “fuel efficiency” and hence creates unheard levels of fuel efficiency.

The most important highlight in the new Polo is that it benefits from its TSI engine with active cylinder management (ACT). What it does is to basically shut off two of the engine’s four cylinders.

The torque-friendly 1.4-litre TSI engine produces power output of 103 kW / 140 PS. However it still is able to deliver fuel consumption of just 4.6* l/100 km and has 107 g/km CO2 emissions. When the Polo BlueGT is equipped (optionally) with the optional 7-speed DSG transmission, then the fuel consumption is further reduced to the number of 4.5 l/100 km and 105 g/km CO2, respectively.

Nevertheless, the BlueGT is so powerful that it has a top speed of 210 km/h, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds.

The coexistence of efficiency and dynamic in one car is enabled by the systematic interplay of ACT, downsizing (reduced engine displacement plus direct injection and charging) and BlueMotion Technologies (Stop/Start system, battery regeneration, aerodynamic components).

In addition, the new Volkswagen model is distinctive in terms of exterior and interior as well. Externally, the BlueGT is characterised by such features as new 17-inch aluminium wheels, a roof edge spoiler, modified bumpers (with diffuser on rear bumper), distinctive side sills and a 15 mm lower ride height.

The interior of the car includes extended functional range of standard feature: multifunctional display, cruise control system, sport seats in front, ESP, front airbags, head/thorax airbags and electrohydraulic steering.

2013 Volkswagen Polo BlueGT will be available at dealerships by the end of the year with a starting price of 19 650 euro.

  • Volkswagen Polo GTI 6R Synergetic Effects – A Joint Venture Project

Volkswagen-Polo-GTI-6R-Synergetic-Effects-THUMBVolkswagen Polo GTI 6R Synergetic Effects is very interesting result of the work of collaboration of CFC® in Weilheim with CFC® StylingStation® Neuss, the firms MK-SoundStyle Neuss, AIV in Heilbronn and ASA-Wheels from Kaiserslautern. They all have established a sort of a joint venture which has an effect this one-of-a-kind Polo.

The CFC® StylingStation® Neuss has done all the work concerning the exterior. What it has done basically is to entirely foil the Volkswagen in a princess-style camouflage design. As you can see this camouflage creates a delicate mixture of the two pink tints of different intensity and the two relatively colorless primary hues.

The vehicle how ever is not girlish at all! The Polo 6R comes with screw-threaded AP chassis with improved dynamics and is equipped with the most exquisite combination of wheels and tires: TEC by ASA AS2 Max.-Pink wheel rims in 8×18 inches are equipped with the package of tires by Falken, in the dimensions of 215/35-18.

There are also included some carbon parts for which is responsible blackGold designs. Eventually, the rear bumper makes Polo GTI 6R a true “piece of art”.

The interior of the Polo was made by MK-SoundStyle and AI, which have taken care for the acoustic system. In the Polo is included full audio system Rainbow DL-C6.2 with 20-mm silk tweeters and a neodymium speaker driver.

The Rainbow Intelli Sub 8 AFE, a very flat 200-mm active subwoofer in the body equipped with High Level In and the auto-start function, is also featured. Under the driver’s seat one can find a stable aluminum die-cast body, as well as the woofer with 2 x 2 Ohm dual oscillating coil and a remote control.

  • Superchips ECU Volkswagen Polo GTI 1.4 TSI Twincharge

Superchips-ECU-Volkswagen-Polo-GTi-1-4-TSI-THUMBYou might be not familiar with the fact that Superchips is the official Volkswagen Racing Tuning Partner in the United Kingdom for more than ten years now. For this reason the company has upgraded a model from the Polo Line-up, boosting its performance with ECU remap.

The result is the Superchips ECU Volkswagen Polo GTI 1.4 TSI Twincharge.

Being a standard Polo model, this VW delivers an excellent combination of light weight, small size and an economical, 1.4-litre, direct injection, petrol turbo / supercharged twincharge engine. More importantly this engine delivers the 180 hp (132 kW).

However, now this clasic Volkswagen Polo GTI 180PS 1.4 TSI Twincharge has better performance due to the exceptional tuning from the Superchips specialists.

In particular, the Buckingham based electronics experts have named this tuning package “ECU remap”. In general, the Superchips ECU remap gives the Volkswagen Polo GTI 1.4 TSI twincharge a healthy torque boosted from 2400 rpm upwards, which in addition now offers a maximum gain of 35Nm at 4315 rpm.

Hence, the performance of the tuned car is now sportier, considerably livelier than the standard model, and significantly more responsive to the throttle.

  • VW Polo BlueGT

Volkswagen-Polo-BlueGT-thumbWhat happens when you cross mad lunacy with refinement and sensibility? Obviously and epic lovechild that has the best of both worlds. In our case that’s the VW Polo BlueGT (no, it’s not a sad GTI). It’s a super fun 140 PS Polo that has the looks and feel of a GTI and the metabolism of a BlueMotion. Today, on a stand at the Geneva Motor Show and within months, on to the European roads.

A system described as “ACT cylinder deactivation” is at the core of the BlueGT ideology. The second and third cylinders are automatically shut down within the 1,250 and 4,000 rpm. range and when torque output is between 25 and 100 Nm. If the driver decides to give it the beans, reactivation of the cylinders happens seamlessly in a matter of milliseconds but the dashboard will tell you nevertheless. That gives the 1.4 turbocharged, 140 PS engine the upper edge in fuel economy. Its combined cycle of fuel consumption amounts to 4.7 litres per 100 km (around 60 mpg). CO2 emissions equal to 108 g/km. Opt for the DSG transmission and you’ll get even more frugality. At the same time the top speed is at 210 kmh (130 mph) and zero to 62 mph takes 7.9 seconds.

For the styling of the BlueGT, Volkswagen have gone the “Frankinstain’s monster” way – GTI strains account for the front and rear bumpers, the rear spoiler, the instruments inside, the sports seasts and the leather steering wheel. The BlueGT is also 15 mm closer to the ground and sits on 17-inch multi-spoked alloys. The side sills and front windscreen rain channels, on the other hand, are from a Polo BlueMotion. This particular model is also the typical BlueMotion shade and the badges are all blue. Unlike the Frankinstain story however, the BlueGT might turn out to be a success rather than a tragedy. In fact, the BlueGT carries the first of Volkswagen‘s EA211 series of engines – a line that will underpin most of the models in the company’s production future.

Hopefully, shipments are going to start in July within mainland Europe. Whether there’s going to be a production for the UK, is still not announced.
