SsangYong Announces the Name of its Newest B-Segment Crossover

South Korea-based automobile manufacturer SsangYong Motor Company has finally revealed the name of the company’s all new B-segment crossover – Tivoli. This is the automaker’s first new car in four years now. The time seems to be just right for its debut for the SUV market is really craving some fresh meat.

The new sport-utility vehicle has been under development for the past three years and was only seen in concept presentation at recent international auto shows, presented with the mysteriously-sounding project name X100. Interestingly enough, the name of the car derives from Tivoli, an Italian town near Rome which is known for its style, cultural heritage and gorgeous location.

The 2015 SsangYong Tivoli, with a 1.6-liter gasoline-powered engine, is going to be part of Ssangyong’s popular Korando C model lineup which is equipped with a 2-liter diesel engine. Surprises do not stop here because Ssangyong Motor Company also plans to launch a diesel-powered Tivoli model next year.

Nevertheless in relation to the up-coming Tivoli, the name of the car is not all that has been unveiled. Along with it, SsangYong has also released the latest images of the car’s exterior and interior. On the one hand, as we can see, the exterior shapes a dynamic, urban SUV with a modernized and rhythmical silhouette. On the other hand, the interior features very stylish living space, with an elegant and contemporary appeal. The overall conception of the car seeks to enable the driver and passengers take advantage of easy and simple connectivity to their IT devices. Finally, it brings a sense of practicality, spaciousness and comfort.

The Tivoli is going on sale in Korea in January and globally during the second quarter of 2015.

SsangYong XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure to Debut in Paris

SsangYong XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure Concepts will make a world debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. The vehicles preview what the production soon-to-be-launched X100 model will look like. Both are based on brand’s development philosophy of ‘Robust, Specialty and Premium’ and design theme of ‘Nature born – 3 Motion’. To go even further into details, the XIV stands for eXciting user-Interface Vehicle. It is part of SsangYong’s B-segment SUV series, which was shown for the first time at the 2011 IAA Frankfurt and with the most recent – the XLV, shown in Geneva this March.

There are almost no details provided by the brand around those two. What SsangYong has disclosed is the SUVs will measure 4,195 mm in length and will feature a 2,600 mm wheelbase. In addition, the XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure will be powered by either a 1.6 litre petrol or 1.6 litre diesel engines that meet Euro 6 emission standards.

As one can see from the teaser images below, the two new concepts will offer more style, practicality and convenience for the user. Although the teaser images are pretty dark, we can get some impression for the exterior of the models. The muscular stance is evident as well as the wraparound front and rear lights, and the slim grille.

Both concepts differ in terms of alloys, with the XIV-Air having more concept-like ones. The same model features a large air intake positioned on the lower front bumper. It also sports silverfish exterior paint scheme. On the other hand, the XIV-Adventure, finished in green, has rugged and off-road appearance. It is visible that it features a roof rack and a storage compartment attached to the bootlid.

SsangYong X100 is scheduled to go on sale next year.

SsangYong 60th Anniversary – Two Special Editions

SsangYong has unveiled two special edition models to celebrate its 60^th anniversary. The first one is based on its popular Korando crossover and the second on the Rexton W 4×4. SsangYong – the name meaning double dragon – has always specialized in producing 4x4s, and today that also includes sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs).

2014 SsangYong Korando 60^th Anniversary boasts 18″ diamond cut wheels, an electric sunroof, rear spoiler and chrome detailing, and is completed with a pearl white lily metallic paint finish. Available in either manual or automatic, it is priced at £21,245 and £22,745 respectively. The model is based on the all-wheel drive ELX4 trim level.

2014 SsangYong Rexton W 60^th Anniversary comes with front parking sensors, an electric sunroof, heated seats front and rear, a power adjustable passenger seat, DAB sat NAV and finished in pearl white lily metallic paint. Available with either 6-speed manual or 5-speed Mercedes-Benz T-Tronic automatic transmission, it has a retail price of £25,995 or £27,495 respectively. The model is based on the EX specification.

SsangYong offers 3-year free servicing for select models

The Korean automaker SsangYong has announced a 3-year free servicing offer that covers all Rexton W models purchased during the months of August and September 2014. More specifically the offer is about the 4×4 Rexton W SX, EX and EX automatic models and covers the CSX commercial, registered by September 30 this year. Add the market leading 5-year limitless mileage warranty that SsangYong offers and you will have complete peace of mind when driving such a car.

The SsangYong Rexton W is a vehicle that is built on a steel ladder chassis and that offers a 3-tonne towing capacity, yet at the same time the car carries equipment that will make you feel comfortable. Owners can expect to find cruise control, air conditioning, electrically operated and heated door mirrors and a CD/RDS radio system with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Rexton W is powered by a SsangYong 2.0-liter Euro 5 turbo-charged e-XDi200 diesel engine that delivers maximum power of 155 HP (114 kW) at 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 360 Nm (265 lb.-ft.). The vehicle is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed Mercedes-Benz T-Tronic automatic transmission and offers a frame construction for maximum strength and double wishbone and coil spring suspension to the front. SsangYong XLV Concept To Make Geneva Debut

Geneva Motor Show will see the birth of SsangYong latest concept which is called XLV concept. The initials stand for eXciting smart, Lifestyle and Vehicle and serve as a means to convey the true character of the vehicle.

In addition to this the brand has also released two teaser images which in m opinion look incredible and definitely makes me inpatient to see the real car. Precisely, the XLV is a “multi-role” (as the brand call it) B-segment SUV concept which offers significantly lower CO2 emissions.

The reduce emissions are due to its mild hybrid system that combines a 1.6 litre diesel engine with an electric motor powered by a lithium ion battery. Back in 2011 the brand introduced the SsangYong XIV-1 Concept that showcased brands innovative design capabilities, strong and yet smooth lines, and perfect proportions for a compact SUV.

The XLV is 290mm longer than the XIV-1 and provides accommodation for seven passengers in an innovative 2+2+2+1 arrangement. Here the seventh seat slides between the second and third rows for optimum flexibility.

This latest concept exudes a rhythmical and dynamic exterior design and is aimed to appeal to the user seeking individuality and practicality. The wheelbase here is 2,600mm. Other dimensions are: 4,430mm length, 1,845mm width and 1,600mm height.

2014 SsangYong Korando – Full Details and Pricing

SsangYong has released full details and pricing for the 2014 Korando Facelift. The model has recently won The Caravan Club Towcar of the Year Award 2014 for vehicles under £16,000. It received full inside and out makeover as well as enhanced driving refinement.

The exterior features black mesh radiator grille, more contemporary headlights and a wider, low level air intake are the principal enhancements. The new headlight units have projection lamps and LED DRLs for increased visibility and safety, surrounded by a stylish black and aluminium bezel. Further illumination is provided on the ELX4 model with neat round fog lamps set discreetly within the lower bumper.

There are new designs for both the 16” and 17” wheels, and three new exterior colours – Sunrise red, Cosmic blue and Carbonic grey as well as Space black, Grand white and Silent silver.

The interior now combines an attractive and comfortable ambiance for the driver and passengers alike. There is a completely redesigned dashboard featuring soft-touch materials for a greater sense of luxury, complemented by natural matt wood grain insets, and abundant storage space that includes enlarged cup holders, a mobile phone tray and flip-down sunglasses tray.

In conjunction with the standard Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with emergency brake assist and four-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), the four-wheel drive system provides the best possible grip and control whatever the conditions. Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Active Roll-over Protection (ARP) also feature.

2014 SsangYong Rexton W - Front Angle

SsangYong has announced the all-new 2014 Rexton W. It brings an all new-look to a familiar model line, inside and out. The Rexton W is the 3^rd generation of the model, which won customers and admiration around the world since its launch in 2001.

2014 SsangYong Rexton W combines serious off-road capabilities and comfort expected of an urban cruiser. The new car uses a body on frame construction for maximum strength – the accepted approach for a proper off-roader – and double wishbone and coil spring suspension to the front, and a five link rigid axle with coil springs at the rear.

The engine is a2.0 litre turbo charged e-XDi200 diesel – 155HP (114 kW) at 4,000RPM and 360Nm (267 lb-ft) of torque at 1,500RPM. It offers a good level of performance and NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) control that has already been tested, proven and praised in the marketplace.

SsangYong LIV-1

SsangYong has presented their new concept car at the Seoul Motor Show in South Korea. The LIV-1 (Limitless Interface Vehicle) is a large SUV and features an easily controlled four wheel drive system via an interface.

Flexibility is the key design concept for the interior, where lines and curves come together to create a refined and inviting environment to achieve what is described as a lounge for the future. High gloss piano black on the centre fascia and contrasting aluminium detailing imbues the interior with the premium feel appropriate for a top-line SUV.

The dimensions of the vehicle are 4,870 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, 1,850 mm height and a wheelbase of 2,840mm.

And as you would expect, this futuristic interior features all the latest technology to meet IT needs on the move. The car’s driver-vehicle communication interface is based on the 3S-Cube, the core of SsangYong’s future technology. This combines the elements of Smart Link, Safe Way and Special Sense to allow the vehicle to be remote-controlled using a smart device and to provide entertainment both within and from outside the vehicle.

Smart Link is a roof-and-glass system created from nano tube technology that removes frost quickly via remote control for safe winter driving, while Safe Way ensures safe driving by actively preventing collisions in blind spots and at intersections.

Special Sense allows the driver to arrange instrument cluster items to suit personal taste, the interface controlling the sound, seats and interior lighting to create a bespoke personal driving space.

There is a 10” monitor in the centre fascia and a 7” monitor in the headrest. The touch-panel displays featured in the LIV-1 provide clear information while continuing the futuristic theme.

SsangYong SIV-1 Concept

SsangYong will exhibit the new SIV-1 (Smart Interface Vehicle) Concept at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March.. The SIV-1 is a multi interface mid-premium CUV (crossover utility vehicle) concept that defines the brand’s new design philosophy.

It features a Mobile Auto System and four independent bucket seats within a bold and dynamic exterior design that will optimise safety and driving comfort. The front features an attractive front fascia with a rounded grille and LED-infused headlights. There is also a tailgate-mounted spoiler, a dual exhaust system and distinctive taillights.

No words about engines or performance.

Mahindra geared up for its SsangYong Rexton launch on October 17, 2012 on Indian turf

SsangYong Motor Company, the South Korean subdivision of the Indian automotive firm Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) Limited, is all set for the 2012 SsangYong Rexton launch in the country on October 17, 2012. The latest product coming from the stables of Mahindra and SsangYong is a premium Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and the domestic market will witness a phased launch, starting from Mumbai and later in New Delhi and Bangalore among other Indian cities.

The soon-to-be launched SsangYong Rexton features will be of top draw quality as the powerful SUV is already marketed in many global automobile markets. The current version is the third generation of the company’s family of Rexton SUVs, of which first and second models were a big hit worldwide. The Indian model of Rexton is believed to be fully capable towards delivering superior on-road and off-road power-torque performance, besides winning many admirers due to its modern and sharp exterior attributes.
