  • Skoda Celebrates 40 Years At Rally Bohemia With Two Special Fabia Super 2000s

Two Skoda Fabia Super 2000 in 1974 race livery are getting prepared for the Rally Bohemia. This is where the company will celebrate its 40 years presence at the Rally Bohemia. The two vehicles that will race on the track are to carry the same livery as sported by the historic Skoda 180 RS and Skoda 200 RS rally cars. The cars will be driven by Jan Kopecký and Sepp Wiegand. Rally Bohemia will take place this weekend in the region around the city of Mladá Boleslav.

In fact, it is exactly the 40th birthday of the historic Skoda 180 RS and 200 RS. The two spectacular rally cars raced for the first time in June 1974. Their debut came at the Rally Skoda; ad exactly 40 years later, the current Fabia Super 2000s will feature the same livery as theirs.

180 RS and 200 RS are considered to be the founders of company’s successful RS history. Since 2000, the manufacturer has resurrected this tradition with RS versions for end user models. The RS stands for ‘Rally Sport’ and the fastest and most powerful production Octavia is Octavia RS.

Rally Bohemia has not only a historic significance for Skoda, but also it is important to it in terms of the brand’s future motorsport activities. For the first time, the European Championship leader Esapekka Lappi will test the new 1.6-litre turbo engine for the new Fabia R5 under race conditions. R5 will be equipped with the aforementioned engine in accordance with FIA regulations. This is the car will be used for competition in the R5 category at international rallies as of 2015.

  • Skoda CitiJet Concept at Goodwood

Skoda is going to present the CitiJet Concept at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed (starting today). The small open-top car is designed and built by 16 apprentices under the guidance of Jozef Kaban, Head of Skoda Design, who challenged the team to build their dream car. Obviously, the dreams of the apprentices don’t include a powerful engine and epic sound from the exhaust system.

Skoda CitiJet is a striking cabriolet that combines a host of innovations and unique design features.

The exterior features distinctive two-tone metallic paintwork, 16” wheels and a hand-crafted rear spoiler. The interior boasts a red-stitched, leather-trimmed steering wheel, bespoke seat trim and a dashboard panel finished in white and red. Completing the interior package is a 300 watt sound system and music-reactive LED lighting.

No words about engine, but since the CitiJet is in the same segment as the Citigo, it will obviously get a 1.0 liter MPI petrol with either 60HP (44 kW) or 75HP (55 kW). The engine is available with either 5-speed manual or an automated-shift gearbox (ASG). The fuel consumption will be around 4.1 liters / 100 km with CO2 emissions of below 100 g/km.

As in previous years, Skoda will be the main attraction at the Forest Rally Stage. The brand’s legendary Fabia S2000 – the most successful rally car of the Super 2000 era – will be demonstrating its remarkable talents on the Skoda-supported 1.7-mile Forest Rally Stage.

  • Skoda Four-door Coupe [render]

X-Tomi Design has published a very good render picture of a possible compact four-coupe from Skoda. It is named Garde by the designer and is based on the VisionC, which was fully revealed by the Czech company during the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

Skoda didn’t confirm any production model, but there are big chances that it could be introduced next year as MY2016. The new stylish four-door coupe will be slotted between the Octavia and Superb in the company’s lineup. There is no doubt that it would be a lot appreciated, because the company offer only “normal” vehicles for now.

It is expected to ride on the same MQB platform as the Octavia, so the engine range will be taken directly from it. In other words, there will be power units from 86HP (63 kW) with 1.2 liter TSI engine to the decent 220HP (162 kW) in the RS variant powered by 2.0 liter TSI engine. The new 1.4 liter TSI engine with 110HP (81 kW) will be also offered. It meets the EU6 regulations and runs on CNG (compressed natural gas) with consumption of just 3.4 kg / 100 km with corresponding emissions of 91 g/km of CO2.

Actually, Skoda had Garde in the in their range, but approximately 30 years ago. This was a rear-engined, rear-wheel drive car with 1.2 liter engine and a 4-speed manual transmission.
