2013 Seat Leon is in fact the third generation of brand’s range icon, which was revealed to the general public this summer. The model was developed on the Volkswagen Group’s new MQB platform.
However, the new Leon was designed and developed by Seat engineers. As an important part of the comprehensive development process, the new Leon was taken to the extremes of the Arctic Circle, as well as the heat of the Spanish desert to test the limits of the car. The brand just revealed a footage showing this grand test.
At theses extreme conditions, the engineers tested everything from the fit and finish of the car’s interior on extreme surfaces, to the engine’s resistance to dust. And this video definitely shows why Seat is famous with its benchmark engineering. Take a look!
2013 Seat Mii Auto is the latest addition to the current Mii line-up. It not only offers generous space and versatility, but now is even more economical thank to the new automated manual gearbox it has.
In fact, the sequential transmission is extremely economical. Speaking in numbers, the result is that this Seat is 2.7 mpg more fuel efficient on average than the Mii Sport. The latter has the same 1.0-litre 75PS engine with a manual gearbox. In addition the CO2 emissions were also lowered.
To go even further into details, the Mii Auto, boasts average fuel consumption of 62.8mpg and a 105g/km CO2 rating, in comparison to the manual equivalent’s 60.1mpg and 108g/km. Based on the manual five speed gearbox, the automated version does away with a manually operated clutch, instead using an electric motor linked to a pair of electromechanical actuators in order to handle gear changes.
But what is the overall result? It is a gearbox with the operation of a traditional automatic transmission, but with light weight and compactness. However, this new gearbox is offered only with the 75PS (55 kW) engine and in SE trim. In terms of performance, the new Mii model sprints from 0 to 100 km/h for only 13.9 seconds. The top speed is 106 mph.
There are three gearbox settings the person behind the wheel can choose from: neutral (N), drive (D) and reverse (R). Here there aren’t included the “park” setting and “crawl” function. If the vehicle is switched off, while in drive mode, the first gear is automatically engaged. The driver has the option to manually select gears using the lever.
Moreover, being a SE specification, this car is equipped with 14-inch “Silva” alloy wheels, a leather steering wheel and gear knob, a gloss white dashboard panel, chrome dial and switch surrounds, and heated electric door mirrors, air conditioning, electric front windows, electronic stability control, remote central locking and six-speaker stereo.
2013 Seat Mii Auto is being offered in both three- and five-door body styles. Its starting price is £10 390.
Seat welcomes to the family theExeo Ecomotive – a bundle of clean and economical technologies wrapped up in a car’s body. It’s basically parallels Volkswagen’s Bluemotion line. And it won’t be just the Seat Exeo that gets it. All the current models will be available with that extra dose of sensibility.
The Exeo however is the perfect example of how a green family car should behave. The Ecomotive uses a 2.0-liter TDI engine and a six-speed manual gearbox. It’s power comes in two stages – 120 PS and 143 PS and between them, there seems to be no difference in emissions and consumption: 117 g/km of CO2 and 62.8 mpg. If that turns out to be true, why bother going for the 120 PS one?
The tech that saves you money is not new or ground braking. There’s a start/stop unit somewhere along the lines, an energy recovery system and a set of low-resistance Goodyear tires. For the sake of aerodynamics, the Ecomotive is also lower than usual.
Seat Exeo Ecomotive
Don’t feel that you’d be in short of common equipment as well. The 120 PS Exeo Ecomotive S (which is the basic model) gets 16-inch Morfeo alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, voice-activated Bluetooth and a multimedia steering wheel. All of that for no more than 20, 040 British pounds or 31,488 dollars. The next step is the SE and Sport versions which add clever windscreen wipers, clever headlights parking sensors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, sports seats, bi-xenon lights, LED daytime running lights and LED taillights, tinted rear windows and dashboard inserts (those last 6 ones come with the Sport models). On the options list, one can further laden their SE or Sport trim with a Tech pack that throws in a satellite navigation and a BOSE stereo.
On a side note, if one is not a family man but rather a teenager or a college graduate, Seat can offer a Seat Mii Ecomotive. Essentially a 1.0-liter, three cylinder petrol engine that does 68.9 mpg and 96 g/km of CO2 which gets much of the extras and technologies that are similar to the ones in the Exeo – air conditioning, electric windows, electronic stability control and split folding rear seats.
2013 Seat Leon has just been introduced officially, combining beauty and practicality. The Seat vehicle was entirely redesigned, packed with high-end technology, having a new chassis, advanced infotainment systems and sophisticated driving aids.

On the other hand the interior has a clear and uncluttered look, which adds even more elegance to the vehicle. The dashboard is unconventional and elegant, with a two-tone design that makes. A lot of attention has been put on the details: for instance, the large air vents, the controls for the air conditioning and the three-dimensional form of the trim elements. The luggage compartment now has bigger volume of 380 litres.
In addition, the new Seat model has a longer wheelbase because of the new architectured implemented. This contributes also to a more balanced distribution of axle load – factors that bring about more comfort and sporty handling.

More importantly, the car is powered by a series of fuel-efficient TDI and TSI engines, ranging from 1.2- to 2.0 litres. All engines include direct injection and turbocharging, and have been engineered for low internal friction and fast warm-up.
The 1.6 TDI generates 104 hp (76 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb.ft) of torque. In the Ecomotive version with start/stop system and brake energy recuperation, it returns an astonishing 74.3 mpg on average, equating to just 99 g/km CO2.
The 2.0 TDI has the impressive 70.6 mpg in the Ecomotive version, however it still generates 150 hp (110 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb.ft) of torque.
In the early 2013, Seat will launch the 1.2 TSI engine in two versions with 86 hp (63 kW) and 105 hp (77 kW); a 1.4 TSI with 122 hp (90 kW); and at the top of the petrol range, a 1.8 TSI with 180 hp (132 kW) and a combination of direct and manifold injection.
The diesel line-up will be enhanced by the 1.6 TDI with 90 hp (66 kW) and the powerful, range-topping 2.0 TDI with 184 hp (135 kW), which delivers a maximum torque of 380 Nm (280 lb.ft).
In the new Leon, the customers will find up-to-date infotainment solutions. Seat has included the Easy Connect operating system, which controls the Sound System entertainment and communication functions via a touch-sensitive screen in the cockpit.
The new Leon also features driver assistance systems such as the drowsiness detection feature, an advanced camera mounted behind the rear-view mirror, Full Beam Assistant, Heading Control lane-keeping assistant.
The refreshed badge of the company will be included in this model, which makes it the first one to carry it. It can be seen on the grille, rear and steering wheel of the car. The logo is now with cleaner design and now represents the precision and elegance of the brand’s design language, while also reflecting the company’s engineering and quality leadership.

The @Mii is the latest in limited edition series from Seat. It will be available for orders only on the web through a dedicated site. Try explaining that to your grandad #ITKnowledgeDeficiency.
When you manage to get to the @Mii portal, there are a few customization options but you do start off with a base – TheSeat Mii Style Chic. That means 14-inch, Silva design alloy wheels and a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder petrol unit to spin them. The power stands at 75 hp while the economy figures state a healthy 4.7 liters per 100 km ratio. If you don’t feel convinced, you can try the Virtual Test Drive on Facebook… which is not at all pointless.
Specific @Mii features on the outside include the white wing mirrors (heated and electrically adjustable) that contrast the “Night Blue” overall body color – very Facebookish. Rather unsurprisingly, the interior environment is very multimedia friendly – there’s a six-speaker Seat Sound System and something called the Seat Portable System that has a specially designed cover for an easy-to-use audio, phone, navigation and on-board computer functionality. It’s basically a removable 5-inch TFT touch screen which is linked to all the car’s electronics but it can also act as your tablet as well.

Seat Leon TwinDrive Hybrid and Seat e-Altea XL will be proudly used by the officials at Barcelona City Hall. The latter will be testing these vehicles in its municipal car fleet for an initial six-month trial period.
The aim of this is to gather information and assess performance prior to mass production of electric vehicles. In fact, Seat e-Altea XL is the first electric car produced by the Spanish brand; hence the data is much needed.
Seat is developing two different technologies through the hybrid and electric vehicles and by this action is trying to stay in accordance with the demands of the market.
In addition to this event, Seat has also loaned one e-Altea XL to Endesa, and another to the Catalan Energy Institute (ICAEN). Further two TwinDrive Hybrids will also go to these organisations mentioned.
It is obvious that the company is immersed in the first stage of the introduction of an electric car. Their vision will include a further loan of vehicles to different governmental departments, institutions, and private companies interested in eco-friendly fleets over the forthcoming months.
Seat Leon TwinDrive Hybrid and Seat e-Altea XL
To go further into details, Seat Altea XL Electric Ecomotive and Seat Leon TwinDrive Ecomotive are two vehicles with different but complementary technologies.
The Altea XL has a range of 135 kilometres, a power output of 115 hp (85kW) and engine torque of 270 Nm (200 lb-ft). Its top speed is 135 kph. Furthermore, there are several innovative features that can be found on it. For instance, the battery location is under the rear seats and the boot. This had basically lead to no reduction in passenger compartment space.
Another interesting technology is the photovoltaic panels on the roof. They serve as means to cut energy requirements for the vehicle’s air-conditioning.
On the other hand the Seat Leon TwinDrive Ecomotive features the benefits of emission-free driving to the range of a conventional petrol-engine car. Being a true hybrid, this vehicle allows all-electric or hybrid driving. The conclusion is that no change in driving habits or life style is required.
In particular, it has a range of 52 kilometres in electric mode, with a top speed of 120 kmh. In mixed mode, which is called electric and combustion, the consumption of fuel is 1.7 litres, while the emissions are under 39 g/km. The top speed of the hybrid is 170 kph.
It still is a concept, but production is foreseeable. It’s the Seat Ibiza Cupra ready to please the way only a hothatch can. Powerful, nimble and clever, this little imp has all the right acronyms – TSI, DSG and now XDS – an electronic differential lock.
A 1.4 TSI super/turbocharged engine under the hood packs a punch of around 180 hp and 250 Nm. With a set of paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, one can make good use of that power which is delivered to the road by a seven-speed DSG transmission.
The Ibiza Cupra also has the looks to match the power. Angry looks that is. Seat have focused on the car’s face by adding a broad grille, sophisticated and pointy headlights and vast air intakes. The only thing that, to us, ruins the whole situation are those LED daytime running lights which surround the headlights, imprisoning them with redundancy. From the side we have a three-door profile – sharp and muscular with nice C-pillars. 17-inch wheels complement the dynamics while black exterior mirrors offer an aesthetic contrast to the mad yellow paint job of the body.
Jumping inside, we find a minimalist’s idea of paradise – a steering wheel with the shifters, four air-vents, a radio and that’s about it. Well, there’s more than that but take the entertainment system for an example – a 5-inch screen can be unplugged and taken home as a part of Seat’s Portable System – that means that in your pocket, you can have a navigation system, a hands-free phone system with voice control and an on-board computer.
Currently, this little critter (that probably has rabies) is on a stand at the 2012 Beijing International Automotive show. One of the many that will most definitely leave an impression on you or atleast a smile.

The mid-level Ibiza SE has a similar £300 average price reduction versus the outgoing SE Copa. The engine variants are for – two petrol 1.4 85PS and the 1.2 TSI 105PS; and two diesels – 1.2 TDI 75PS Ecomotive and the 1.6 TDI 105PS.
2012 Seat Ibiza SC FR
The FR trim (on the picture) features 1.4 litre TSI 150 PS DSG and 2.0-litre TDI 143 PS turbodiesel. It offers a massive savings of £1 100. For the very first time FR is also now available on the Ibiza ST, for those who crave a practical yet genuinely sporty small estate.
Managing Director of SEAT UK, Peter Wyhinny, commented: “We’re really excited about the imminent arrival of the New Ibiza in the UK. This stylish new supermini ticks all the boxes for buyers by being not just significantly more modern to look at, more stylish, more practical and, with the debut of the Ibiza ST FR, significantly more fun. But, crucially, our best-seller is now also even more affordable, too!”
“SEAT celebrated record sales in the UK in 2011 and, with the arrival of the New Ibiza, I’m confident we can look forward to continuing that success through 2012 and beyond.”, he finished.
