Police of Madrid, Spain has received two Renault Megane RS cars, which will help them to prevent crimes. The ex-fastest FWD (front-wheel drive) car around Nurburgring is one of the best hot hatchbacks in the world. It is not only extremely fast in straight line, but in the corners too, which makes it perfect for car chasing.
Both cars feature the typical police livery and equipment as well as a new doors from Kevlar, which is added for additional protection. Renault Megane RS is powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol with 265HP (197 kW) and 360Nm (267 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h in under 6 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – eletronically limited.
The felons will have a real trouble escaping from these cars, because they are not only fast, but economical. Renaulthas finally unveiled the more powerful and faster Megane RS 275 Trophy. The limited edition ultra-hot hatchback comes with a number of improvements, which will help to reclaim the crown: “King of Nurburgring”… for FWD street cars, of course.

The result is thanks to a new Akrapovic titanium exhaust system which is also lighter than the standard exhaust. The hatchback is able to cover 100 km with just 7.5 liters fuel.
There is also a new Cup chassis with a limited-slip differential and can be optionally configured with adjustable Öhlins Road & Track dampers with steel springs derived from the Megane N4 rally car. The new Megane RS can be also ordered with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires available as an option.

The same hue of stitching has been carried over to the rear bench seat, while the headrests feature Renaultsport badging. Other interior highlights include visible red stitching for the Alcantara steering wheel trim and handbrake gaiter, as well as an alloy gear lever knob.

With a total of 730,000 units sold, Renaultis betting on their affordable and hugely popular Megane when it comes to sales. So keeping up on the quality, refinement and reliability is crucial for the annual revenue. The MY 2012 Megane receives minor changes on the outside and inside and it also debuts three new start/stop engines which return stunning fuel economy figures.
The exterior changes are pretty standard with the LED daytime running lights, a black glossy bumper with chrome lining and a complete revision on wheel selection. Inside new trim levels are available including a two-toned leather pack available for customers in the UK.
Newly F1-engineer-developed engines are now being employed in the fresh lineup of MY 2012 Meganes. We have two downsized diesels – a 1.5 dCi with 260 Nm of torque, 110 hp and a whopping figure of 80.7 mpg (combined). Carbon dioxide emissions are down to 90g/km. Then there’s the 1.6 dCi with 130 hp, 320 Nm of torque and a combined fuel range of 70 mpg. That fuel efficiency is courtesy to the Stop & Start and brake energy recuperation systems that come with the diesels.
Renault Megane Sport Tourer (2012)
Th engine that takes the spotlight however, is the TCe 115 – this is the first petrol engine in a Renault that incorporates direct injection and a turbocharger at the same time. The engine block is 400 cubic centimetres smaller than the previous 1.6 16-valved one but overall power is up by 5 hp making a total of 115 hp. In fact, it is said to be the most powerful 1.2 engine in the world. And as it turns out it may be the most economical as well for it too makes use of the Start & Stop system usually reserved for diesels. Therefore we have 53.3 mpg on the combined cycle and 119 g/km of carbon dioxide emissions.
Worry not because, cleverness goes beyond the engine bay as the Megane has some neat driver aids like the Hill Start Assist function which holds down the brakes for a while on attempting to start off on a steep hill. The decision to let in air from outside or cycle the one inside is left to a computer which measures the air quality of the surrounding air. The Renault Visio System on the other hand is basically a camera attached to the rear-view mirror, scanning the road ahead and alarming for things like lane changing etc. It also analyses the visibility conditions outside and decides alone when to put on high-beams or low-beams.
The R.S. Line also gets an update with new a new leathery interior sewn by red stitching, a sportier steering wheel, branded door sill guards and a distinctive dashboard trim strip – the genetic code of the Renaultsport dynasty. On the outside, the R.S. gets specially designed, curvy LED lights which further assert the MY 2012 Megane’s aggressive stance.
2012 Renault Megane Renaultsport 265
And now there’s an anniversary model called the Renaultsport 265 and as the name suggests it develops 265 hp (15 more than the previous one). Further down the road, for a more complete sporty feel, the engineers at Renault have fiddled with the exhaust system with the result being a more satisfying tone. Distinctive features of the 265 include an F1 styled front blade garnished with rows of LED’s, and fresh 18 inch wheels as well as the 19 inch ones now incorporate R.S branding at their centres. Customers can op for redlining on the diffuser, front blade and the side sills while inside a two tone leather upholstery can be added consisting of light grey and charcoal.

The Warranty Direct-inspired horror vehicle would break down every other month and cost an average of £2,050 to fix each year.
The Reliability Index is a unique tool that measures car reliability by considering average cost of repair, frequency of failure, age and mileage. Overall, the Monster Mk1 claims a Reliability Index figure of over 500 – more than five times that of the average car.
“The Monster Mk1 represents the worst-performing vehicles in every sector, from suspension to electrics, on our roads today.”, commented Warranty Direct managing director, Duncan McClure Fisher.
“The wide range of cars included in our special blend highlights how mostly reliable cars can be dragged down by one problem part.”, he added.
Renault has introduced the most powerful road car in the manufacturer’s history. Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy comes at just £27 820 and it is ready to outrun VW Golf and Scirocco R models.
Renaultsport 265 Trophy is powered by a turbocharged 2.0 litre petrol engine with staggering 265PS and 360Nm of torque available between 3000 and 5000RPM. The hot hatch achieves impressive power-to-weight ratio of 191HP per tonne. Not bad, not bad at all!
The results are thanks to an improvement in maximum turbo pressure, which is now 2.5 bar and a new air intake revised to take account of the higher pressure and running temperatures.
A great addition to the sports hatchback is free access to the full 2012 Renaultsport UK trackday calendar, worth around £650.
Besides of the brutal engine, Renaultsport 265 Trophy comes with a huge 19” gloss black Speedline alloys with red rim fitted with high-performance Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres. The car boasts “Trophy” red decals on the F1-style front blade and doors, and LED daytime running lights.
Megane 265 Trophy features stiffer springs, dampers and anti-roll bar and grooved brake discs. It also has a mechanical limited slip differential, Brembo brakes, as well as the innovative PerfoHub independent steering axis front suspension set-up, which virtually eliminates torque steer. All these upgrades makes the Megane a perfect road car suitable for time attack at racetracks.
Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy will be limited to just 500 units, so you’d better hurry up. Orderrs open 20th June and first deliveries end July.
Renaultsport are ready with the 2011 trackday calendar, so the owners of the manufacturer’s hot hatchbacks will be able to explore the limits of their track-bred cars. Furthermore, there is a chance to join Renaultsport with a trip to the world-famous Nurburgring Nordschleife race track in Germany and Bedford Autodrome.
Renaultsport are not new in running trackdays. They have been doing that since 2002 and at every circuit, experienced and trained instructors will be on hand offering personalised tips to improve car control.
The programme will include Twingo Renaultsport 133 Cup, the Clio Renaultsport 200 Cup or the Megane Renaultsport 250 Cup. The drivers will also enjoy a “hot” lap in the car from the passenger seat with a qualified instructor at the wheel.
