  • New Renault Megane Trophy-R sets a new lap record!

2019-Renault-Megane-RS-910Megane R.S. Trophy-R has set a new front-wheel drive lap record at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit by recording a time of 2’48’’338, which is more than five seconds better than the previous record. This magnificent attempt comes only weeks after the Megane R.S. Trophy broke the same category lap record at the fearsome Nurburgring track. And as always, test driver and engineer Laurent Hurgon was behind the wheel for the record-breaking run.

By continuing the long tradition for Renault Sport, Megane R.S. Trophy-R addresses its performance and successful runs to the so-called three-pillar setup: weight reduction, aerodynamics and suspension. Limited to mere 500 examples globally, R.S. Trophy-R is 130kg lighter than its predecessor. This notable achievement has been done by a radical weight-saving programme along with a redesigning concept for the entire exterior, There’s also new aggressive rear splitter that generates greater downforce and an overhauled suspension system, which benefits from more negative camber at the front, a bespoke pattern rear axle and Ohlins two-way adjustable dampers.

  • 2016 Renault Mégane Renaultsport 275 Cup-S And Its Offerings

2016 Renault Mégane Renaultsport 275 Cup-SHot hatch fans now can enjoy the multi-award-winning, high-performance Megane Renaultsport which comes with the introduction of the 275 Cup-S. The vehicle not only bring some additional features but is also offered with more appealing price. But this is not all. The Renaultsport lineup also offers and the 275 Nav. This model replaces the 265 and adds 10 hp more. How cool is that?

In fact, both of the Megane Renaultsport models are geared with the same 2.0-Liter 275 hp (202 kW) turbocharged petrol powerplant. As you might remember, this is the same engine that helped the 275 Trophy-R shatter the lap record for a front-wheel-drive production car around the 13-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 7 minutes 54.36 seconds back in June 2014. This is what I call a badass engine.

    The Mégane Renaultsport 275 Cup-S

As in every other sport vehicle the Renaultsport comes with a special engine. In normal mode it develops a total of 250 hp at 5,5000 rpm for comfortable and smooth everyday drive, but with the Renaultsport Dynamic Management system the vehicle produces additional 10 hp and a total of 360 Nm of torque. And with the slick-shifting six-speed manual transmission you are ready to rule over the streets. With responsibility I hope.

Futhermore, the vehicle goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.0 seconds and has a top speed of 284 km/h (158 mph). And there are also good news for the eco-fans out there. This engine meets all EU6 restrictions and with the start/stop system it has NEDC of 37.7mpg and CO2 emission of 174g/km.

Renault-Megane-R-THUMB2014 Renault Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R is the newest limited edition Sport hatch, which was introduced almost two months ago. Of course, the car comes equipped with variety of improvements as well as new more powerful engine: 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged one. Furthermore, the new Renault Sport model benefits from new Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, which is lighter than the one used in its predecessor.

This car has achieved two weeks ago 7m 54.36s record for a rear-wheel drive car round the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife. The record was achieved thanks to the dedication of the teams at Renault Sport Technologies and the hundreds of hours of testing. • 2014 Renault Megane Hatch – Crash Test [video]

Euro NCAP has published a video with several crash tests with the new 2014 Renault Megane Hatch. As usual, the front impact takes place at 64 km/h (40 mph), and 40 % of the width of the car strike a deformable barrier. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver’s door at 50 km/h (31 mph). In the pole test, the vehicle is propelled sideways at 29 km/h (18 mph) into a rigid pole.

Euro NCAP has a new system, so the 2014 Megane Hatch get only three stars out of five in terms of overall safety.

The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Renault showed that a similiar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. In the side barrier test, the Megane Hatch scored maximum points with good protection of all body areas. In the more severe side pole impact, dummy readings of chest compression indicated marginal protection for that part of the body. The protection provided by the seat and head restraint against whiplash injuries was also marginal for the front seats and was rated as poor for the rear seats, based on a geometric assessment.

The front bumper provides good protection to pedestrians’s legs in all areas tested and scored maximum points. However, the protection offered by the front edge of the bonnet was predominantly poor. On the surface of the bonnet, protection offered to the head of a struck pedestrian was predominantly adequate but was poor along the bottom of the windscreen and on the stiff windscreen pillars.

Electronic stability control is standard equipment. A seatbelt reminder system is standard for the front and rear seats. The system for the front seats met Euro NCAP’s requirements. A driver-set speed limitation device is also standard equipment and met Euro NCAP’s requirements for systems of this type.
