  • Prior Design BMW 6-Series Aerodynamic-kit

Prior-Design-BMW-6-Series-thumbPrior-Design-BMW-6-Series-mediumIntroducing the Prior Design aerodynamic kit for the new BMW 6-series. It’s largely unnoticeable, we admit, but the good news is that aftermarket shops are slowly starting to integrate the BMW F12/F13 series.

Yes, close to 3000 Euros ($3,719) is a lot of money for a bunch of plastics with a fancy name (Dura-Flex). You get a Prior Design PD6 front bumper, a PD6 rear bumper and two PD6 side skirts and that’s it. No options, no nothing.

The BMW itslef on the other hand may have more to offer. If we are talking about the top of the range 650i, we get 407 hp generated from BMW‘s N63 V8 engine. That means an acceleration from a stand still to 100 km/h in just under 5 seconds. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h while the max torque is 600 Nm at 1750-4500. All impressive figures that deserve a more thourough treatment from aftermarket dealers. Hopefully, we are getting there.

  • Mercedes CL Black Edition V2 Aerodynamic Kit by Prior Design

Prior-Design-BlackEditionV2-Mercedes-Benz-CL-thumbSay hello to the Prior Design BlackEdition widebody aerodynamic kit for the Mercedes-Benz CL… version 2.0. Or as Prior would like to call it – V2. It fits all W216 coupes and to some extent, it acts as a development over the previous one.

Naturally, some of the components are shared with the first project while the new ones are designated by a “BlackEdtitionV2” label. Namely, we are talking about the front bumper which gets two air outlets at the sides and at the back we have a bit more change – the fins on the diffuser are now far more articulated and the rear bumper is also new. As for the other parts, it’s a bit of a de ja vu – a vented hood, flaring wheel arches interjoined by some side skirts and mesh grille inserts. Prior seem to have ditched the air-scoop thingy for which we thank them.

There’s one more thing that we get from the old one as well – the price. This Dura Flex fiber plastic luxury will set you back 12,900 Euros or $16,426. For that kind of money, you can almost by a Peugeot 408 in Russia – spicy. But hey, you do get mounting material and that’s a game changer, right?

  • Prior Mercedes-Benz M-Class Aerodynamic Kit

prior-mercedes-benz-m-class-w164Prior Design seem to be in a very SUV mood considering the fact that they have released yet another program for an old-ish titan. Nor really that old actually – the Mercedes-Benz M Class W164 (the one made from 2005 to 2011). Does it look any different from yesterday’s Range Rover? Well, granted that it is a Mercedes, it does but the Prior Design formula on it is basically the same.

Yes, you know it – a front bumper, side skirts a rear bumper and… mounting material. Not what we call thrilling. Okay, there’s also a hood that comes along. Mind you, that’s how things sound on paper. A quick glance at the gallery and we find that the end result is not that gray (it’s white). Despite the add-on side skirts, the M-class has managed to retain a bit of it’s ground clearance. The rear bumper blends seamlessly with the back fenders and wheel-arches while the front looks simply mean (this being an SUV, it should). There are of course LED daytime running lights. But they are optional. At the price of 329 Euros ($428), we recommend they stay that way.

As usual, all materials are made up of Dura-Flex Fiber Reinforced Plastic which is, as one might suspect, durable and flexible. No modifications on the stock Mercedes M-class whatsoever are needed.

  • Prior Design Range Rover Body Kit

PD-Land-Rover-Range-Rover-2005-kit-thumbAncient gods need accessories as well. That’s why we’ve got news from Prior Design for they have given the iconic Range Rover (2002-2005) a makeover. We are talking about nothing more drastic than a simple body kit but that’s what Prior do and they do it best.

It really is simple – a front bumper, side skirts and a rear bumper. The overall kit does make the Range Rover loose its off-road appeal but since when SUV’s have been for dirt roads? Today, it’s all about the urban look – a sense of security on the rough asphalt, the elevated stance in a traffic jam, the mind-boggling gas station receipt (wait… that’s not a plus). Anyway. Prior have given this particular Range Rover something that will make it stand out from the other icons and there are a lot of them.

Back in the days, these Range Rovers used Jaguar derived V8 engines which, at best, had 5.0-liters of displacement, 503 hp and 625 Nm of Torque – so not that ancient after all. They were, and still are the ultimate statement of clout.

All Prior Design products are made from a Dura-Flex FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) material – sturdy, flexible and paint-friendly. The whole package will set you back with around 2,280 Euros ($2,971)

  • Latest Prior Mercedes SL Black Edition

Prior-Design-Widebody-Black-Edition-SL-thumbIn response to current events (the arrival of the all-new SL), Prior Design are widening their portfolio. This particular program, the PD-BlackEdition Widebody, still concerns the old, face lifted R230 SL. And we have actually seen this before, but lo and behold, a new photo shoot has been made.

Not having to do anything with AMG Black series, this PD-Black Edition Widebody kit consists of a multitude of aerodynamic parts which greatly alter the SL’s stance. There’s a Black Edition front bumper and a spoiler for it. The side skirts act as an extension for the front bumper and at the back we have another Black Edition bumper with a ferocious looking diffuser. Most kits would refrain from reaching out to anything else, but the PD-Black Edition Widebody dares to replace the front fenders with ones that have more flare in them. Additionally. the rear has been widened as well. There are mesh grill inserts here and there and the hood is new. As an option, one can go for the trunk spoiler which costs $795

Every part from the kit is TÜV certified and made from quality Dura-Flex FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) – flexible and paint friendly. All materials need for the fitment process are also included. Should an SL be pre-2008, one has to convert it to post-2008 (MOPF II). That can also be done by prior. The price for the kit however, is a bit steep – $17,130 (excluding the spoiler). What do you think? Worth it?

  • Prior Mercedes-Benz CL kit – “Black Edition”

Prior-Mercedes-CL-kit-thumbLast time we checked, Prior were having some fun with the Mercedes-Benz Roadster SL by sticking their bespoke “Black Edition” body kit on it. Now it is the CL‘s turn to go under the careful knife of Prior Design. The body kit is suitable for all models of the C216 series.

Now, the luxury class coupe is bulky and majestic thanks to a wide body kit that consists of new front mud wings, side skirts, a roof scoop that looks like a mohawk hairpiece and front and rear bumpers. The matte black finish of the car can do nothing but help the aggressive appearance that has taken over baby coupe. At the front we have 10×20” alloy wheels, while at the back an even wider pair (13×20”). They complement the overall look of the kit and also suffocate their sheer vastness.

The Prior Design products are manufactured from Duraflex. Through its excellent surface structure and high level of stability, this high grade material enables easy and cost-effective lacquering. Everything is easy to install yet Prior are willing to help you with the process as well as take orders for a few special items and carbon fiber goodies
