  • Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Receives One-Off Prior-Design Aero Tuning

Prior-Design Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Side ViewThe tuner Prior-Design has surprised us with a new and extreme project. After a long and silent time, the specialists have finally released a car which is worth the attention. This time under the spot is the emblematic gull-wing Mercedes SLS AMG. The car alone looks fantastic, but after the addition of the PD widebody kit, it surely turns heads.

The sporty and elegant car was actually teased in the middle of February, when the tuner released just three photos of it as well as some details about the kit that it will include. And although it was said that the kit for vehicle will be available by the end of May. Prior Design has obviously made the impossible and are currently releasing it.

The aero-kit, named PD900GTWB, turns the SLS AMG into a real monster, as the tuners claim. If you ask whether there is something previously unannounced included, well, the news is sad, because there really isn’t. However, only in terms of aero-components. There are some engine improvements added and more.

    Aero-Kit

Still, if you meet this project for the first time, it is good to know that this Mercedes is very special because it differentiates from its siblings with new front and rear bumpers, side skirts and front fenders that widen it further, rear wideners, new hood and rear trunk spoiler. The widebody aero-kit is made of fiberglass-duraflex, but it can be purchased made of carbon fiber.

    Wheels & Tyres

Of course, this beautiful car requires new wheels to run on. Precisely, they are three-part forged Rotiform SNA alloys in the size of 9×20” and 11×21” at the front and rear, respectively. The Dunlop SU 5P tires come in the size of 245/30 ZR20 and 305/25ZR21.

    Suspension & Exhaust System

In addition, PD took care for the suspension of this car, giving it a KW coilovers that lower it with about 35mm. New exhaust system is also at hand.  It features 200Cell race cats, new manifold and muffler with clap control. The result is a power improvement with 40 PS.

    Engine Chiptuning

The performance of the vehicle was further improved via chiptuning. Additional 30 PS and 40 Nm were added to V8’s standard parameters. In details, AMG’s 6.2 liter engine produces 571 PS (420 kW) and 650Nm (479 lb-ft). You can make the math.

  • Prior-Design Releases New Styling Kit for Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222

This Mercedes is a true masterpiece of the tuning craftsmanship. The tuners at Prior-Design have made the appearance of the new Mercedes-Benz-S-Class series even more dominant and elegant, and sportier! They have developed an exclusive body kit dubbed PD800S for the flagship model. As a matter of fact, this conversion will probably lift the company onto the elitist Mount Olympus of the Mercedes tuners.

Starting with the front of the model, it features an entirely new bumper with powerful air inlets and a front spoiler lip. Both were made of carbon. We also see LED daylight driving lights and carbon air outlets attached to the front mudguards.

At the sides, a set of carbon fiber side sills connects the front and rear. While the back of the vehicle features new carbon rear apron as well as rear flap spoiler made of the same material. To make the design even more harmonious, the tuners gifted the Mercedes new shoes to run with.

The new exterior design is supported via brand new redesigned interior. Every square centimetre of the cabin was wrapped with a mix of crocodile leather, alcantara and quilted nappa leather. These materials have been combined with refined root wood pattern, which is a little reminiscent of the comfort of an American cigar lounge.

Perfection to the last detail is the motto of the designers. This means that even the boot was made better. The boot was wrapped in crocodile and smooth leather, while the lid of it – was coated in leather from the inside.

  • Prior Design BMW M6 F13 Pickup [render]

Prior Design has published a nice render picture of BMW M6 F13 Pickup. For now it is just an idea, but Prior actually said that it could become a reality. We hope that don’t happen, because it will ruin one perfect car… or more.

However, there is a lot of positive feedback from fans on the Facebook page of Prior Design. We wonder why, but everybody has an opinion even if it is wrong. You may remember that BMW actually produced one M3 Pickup based on the E92 model. It looked ridiculous, but nobody cares because it is an M3.

The tuning package for M6 F13 Pickup by Prior Design remains the same as the one fitted on the Coupe – a new front bumper, a carbon fiber front lip spoiler and carbon fiber fins. There is also a new ventilated hood, a pair of widened side skirts and extended wheel arches. The rear bumper is also new and comes with an integrated diffuser.

    BMW M6 F13 Coupe is powered by a 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 (S63B44TU) – 560HP (412 kW) at 6,600RPM and 680Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque available at just 1,500RPM. 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds , 0-200 km/h in 12.0 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited or 300 km/h (186 mph) with ///M Drivers package. The engine is connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox sending the power to the rear wheels. ¼ mile in 11.7 to 11.9 seconds.

The curb weight is 1,850kg and the powerful sports coupe is able to cover 100 km with just 7.6 liters on Highway.

  • Prior Design Widebody For The W219 Mercedes-Benz CLS

PD-Black-Edition-Widebody-Mrecedes-Benz-CLS-W219-shadowPD-Black-Edition-Widebody-Mrecedes-Benz-CLS-W219-mediumPrior Design are back with…an old-ish Mercedes-Benz CLS? The W219 went out of production almost 4 years ago to make way for the future. Apparently, however, it still makes sense for Prior to be releasing “widebody” kits for them.

And this one here takes the cake for ostentatiousness – dark coppery paint job with eye-blindingly red lines on the sides, company decals, and tires bigger than the rings of Saturn. And that’s not even counting the flaring wheel arches.

Yes, both of the front fenders have been replaced while the rear ones have received a noticible widening. There’s also a Prior front bumper and one at the back as well. The side skirts are also new and apparently there’s an add-on piece for the hood. In other words, the same old Prior story: expensive plastic bits (okay, “dura-flex fiber reinforced plastic” bits). That will be $8,000, please

Still, quite the shocker, isn’t he?

  • Prior Design Black Edition V2 Widebody Mercedes-Benz S-Class W221

Prior-Design-V2-Widebody-Kit-Black-Edition-Mercedes-Benz-S-Class-W221-shadowPrior-Design-V2-Widebody-Kit-Black-Edition-Mercedes-Benz-S-Class-W221-mediumFor around $9.434 you can have the complexly named Prior Design Black Edition V2 widebody aerodynamic kit on a Mercedes S-Class (the old W221 Merc). It’s black (duh), road-sweapingly low, and kind of aggressive. Just look at the space – or rather the lack of it – between the tires and the wheel arches (that space, by the way, is called the dead cat hole). To be honest, though, the freakishly big wheels are not mentioned in the brochure so that might add a few more dollars to the total bill.

What is included in the package, then, are the body panels that form the V2 kit. That means a front bumper, a front lip spoiler that goes on said bumper, side skirts, a rear bumper, a rear diffuser, front fenders and rear flaring wheel arches, a hood, mesh grille inserts and a trunk lid spoiler.

The parts are, as usual, made up of FRP which is a type of fancy plastic (carbon reinforce, apparently). It’s basically the other spelling of “expensive”. But, hey, it looks okay…ish. If you are the type of person who binge watches all the Fast And Furious movies, this might just be thing for you

  • Prior-Design Present The Widebody BMW X5

Prior-Design-PD5X-Widebody-BMW-X5-E70-shadowPrior-Design-PD5X-Widebody-BMW-X5-E70-mediumAnother purely visual upgrade this time from Prior-Design. The German-based company has been focusing on SUVs lately. There was the Mercedes G-Class, the Porsche Cayenne II, the Range Rover Evoque, and now this: the Prior-Design PD5X Widebody BMW X5.

It’s a pretty serious overhaul, albeit, we are talking about an exterior job. The kit’s called the PD5X Widebody, and alongside the usual suspects – that is, the new front bumper with a spoiler lip, side skirts and rear bumper with a diffuser attached – there are other, more ostentations bits and pieces. Notice the flaring front fenders or the rear widenings with their ridiculously big air vents. Or how about that artistically carved hood with ducts that make no sense.

You can bolt on all of the said parts on any BMX5 E70, so imagine the rattle of a diesel engine contrasting the otherwise aggressive vista. Comedy gold?

The whole kit will set you back with around $12,345. There better be a lot of carbon fibers inside those plastics. How does the finished product stand up to the other Prior spawns? We’ll let you be the judge of that.
