  • Volkswagen Surprises with Passat Limited Edition

The famous Passat is getting a better version. But no, there’s no new facelift or whatsoever, instead Volkswagen has released a premium Limited Edition of the model, which includes better engine and more equipment features. The new trim will also substitute the Wolfsburg and SE levels from this model year. In terms of visuals, this car does not differ much from its other siblings in the line-up. The only distinctive features are the 17-inch alloys, chrome window surrounds and the front foglights.

But, this has nothing to do with what VW has left inside. To start from the opening of the car, the new Limited Edition has the KESSY, meaning that the driver can access the vehicle keylessly only with a push-button start.

Then to aid his or her parking, the company has provided a rearview camera. For the optimum comfort there are V-tex leatherette seating surfaces and heatable front seats. In fact, the driver’s seat also includes a power lumbar. Continuing with the leather theme, the steering wheel is also wrapped in it.

The technology features which can not be seen in other trims for free are the touchscreen radio with SiriusXM and the eight-speaker sound system. More importantly, the car will be powered as a standard by the turbocharged 1.8-liter TSI engine coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen says that this unit is highly efficient and can achieve 24 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.

In other words this is the perfect family car, because it is also famous for its large cabin space. It has the needed individuality and stands for luxurious experience. 2015 Volkswagen Passat Limited Edition is currently on sale and has a starting price of $23,995 USD.

  • Dodge Charger Make Fun of Volkswagen Passat [videos]

Dodge has released two very funny commercial videos of the new 2015 Charger. Actually, they are mocking to Volkswagen Passat. As the US manufacturer declared in May – “No kid ever grew up with a poster of a Passat on his bedroom wall” and we will add – “But many with a Charger”.

The all-new 2015 Dodge Charger is powered by a 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 – 292HP (218 kW) and 353Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque. The ad says “Here it is, the 470HP HEMI V8, butt kicking,  Mötley Crüe blasting Volkswagen Passat. No, I’m just kidding, it’s a Charger.”

    Enjoy!

Recently, Dodge has unveiled the extreme Charger SRT Hellcat, which is the most powerful family saloon in the world. It has a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 – 707HP (527 kW) and 880Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to an 8-speed automatic gearbox sending all that power to the rear wheels. ¼ mile is covered in just 11.0 seconds and the top speed is whopping 328 km/h (204 mph); 0-160-0 km/h in less than 13.0 seconds. • VW offers Modular Transverse Matrix on the Golf and Golf GTI

    2015-VW-Golf-GTI_thumb2015-VW-Golf-GTI_651

Volkswagen fans that live in the United States will be treated with the so-called Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB in short in German) technology given they choose to purchase one of the all-new VW Golf or Golf GTI now. According to Dr. Hubertus Lemke, Head of Technical Project Management in Volkswagen’s Research & Development Division, the MQB strategy represents a milestone in the design and production of future automobiles with transverse-mounted engines.

Modular Transverse Matrix may sound complicated but this technology standardizes many vehicle component parameters across various vehicle classes, starting with sub-compact cars and going through mid-size SUV segments. Later the technology will be used in the Jetta, Passat and upcoming VW mid-sized SUVs, which means that at least in theory, these models, including the Golf and Golf GTI may be produced on the same assembly line.

One of the prominent characteristics of the Modular Transverse Matrix is the uniform mounting position of all engines, including the new modular diesel engine system (MDB), also known as EA288. The standardized engine position, combined with implementation of the EA288 TDI Clean Diesel engine and the new EA211 gasoline engine, will reduce the Group’s engine and gearbox variants by approximately 90 percent. MQB also enables fitment of all current alternative drive concepts without compromise — from compressed natural gas and hybrid versions to a pure electric powertrain. The e-Golf that goes on sale in the last quarter of 2014 in the U.S. uses the MQB architecture as well and is built on the same line in Wolfsburg as other Golf versions.

In the long run MQB will present Volkswagen Group with new opportunities, including the possibility to produce high-volume and niche models of the highest quality at competitive prices as the technology gets introduced globally. In addition MQB will allow VW to tailor vehicles for different and diverse markets that include Europe, China, India, USA and others. One of the positive effects of MQB is that the new Golf and Golf GTI now come with the new Automatic Post-Collision Braking System – after an initial collision, it helps to reduce the intensity of secondary collisions by automatically applying the brakes. It is now standard equipment on the new Golf and Golf GTI.

Volkswagen has finally revealed the all-new 2015 Passat B8 ready to go upmarket as the manufacturer says. The new Passat is described as being “the most successful European business car”. Of course, there is a plug-in Hybrid model with a 1.4 liter TSI and an electric motor.

The new Passat is 4767mm long, 1832mm wide and 1456mm tall with a wheelbase of 2791mm.
