  • TEASER: Nissan To Debut New Vehicle For Le Mans [VIDEO]

nissan-lemans-screnshot-THUMBNissan is going to return to Le Mans next year in the Garage 56 with a brand new vehicle. This news was announced by the brand’s CEO Carlos Ghosn announced in February. Back then was also disclosed that the car will focus on innovation and excitement.

Now, the new car unveil is only a week away and its reveal will be available to see exclusively and live on Nismo.TV. The official debut of the 2014 Garage 56 entry will be on Friday, 21st of June at 10:30am. With this vehicle Nissan hopes for an LMP1 future.

Below you can view a teaser video, which is called “Electrifying future” and hints that probably the new race car will be all-electric. It is possible of course, that the new car is equipped with hybrid drivetrian. However, the logo revealed by the end of the video teaser suggests a zero emissions vehicle, which was once used to promote the racing version of the Nissan Leaf.

  • Bugatti Veyron vs Nissan Juke R [video]

Dragtimesinfo has published an epic battle between tuned Nissan Juke R and stock Bugatti Veyron.

The Veyron is one of the fastest super cars in the world. It is powered by a W16 8.0 liter quad-turbocharged engine with 1,001HP (736 kW) and 1,250Nm (922 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 0-300 km/h in 16.7 seconds. ¼ mile in 10.2 seconds. That’s the factory’s data, but in the real world the situation is slightly different.

The Veyron in the video managed to cover ¼ mile in 11.276 seconds with 214 km/h terminal speed, which is over a second slower than the claimed time. Other interesting fact is the terminal speed at 1 mile – 309 km/h, which the Bugatti made in 27.067 seconds, instead of 18-19 seconds. Still, the Veyron is a winner in this match, just because of its aerodynamics.

On the other side, the Juke R Shpili Villi is having “just” 700HP, but it covered ¼ mile in 10.575 seconds with 212 km/h. The 1 mile time is 28.075 seconds with 285 km/h mainly because of its front drag area.

Enjoy the video, where the underpowered SUV almost won a drag race versus the ultra-expensive “supercar”.

  • 2013 Nissan Juke 1.5 dCi – Improved Fuel Economy

Nissan has announced the new improved 2013 Juke 1.5 dCi coming with lower emissions, greater fuel economy, reduced noise and more torque.

The changes include revised piezo-electric fuel injection nozzles, low-inertia variable geometry turbocharger and more efficient air intake path. In addition, a closed-loop low-pressure exhaust gas recycling (EGR) system, in which the exhaust gas is cooled before being re-introduced to the intake system, has helped ensure the unit is compatible with forthcoming EURO 6 emission regulations. Other changes include a new thermostatically-controlled variable displacement oil pump which reduces internal friction by adapting automatically to the engine’s needs and oil viscosity.

The new diesel features low friction enhancements including diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings for the tappets and now also features Nissan’s automatic Start/Stop system. With highly efficient smart management technology the engine restarts within 0.5sec of the clutch being engaged. Reduced combustion noise further enhances the unit’s overall refinement.

Over the official combined cycle, the new Juke 1.5-litre dCi returns 67.3mpg as opposed to the previous unit’s 58.9mpg, a 14 % improvement. CO2 emissions fall from 124g/km to 109g/km.

Fuel efficiency is also helped by the use of the Nissan Dynamic Control system, which enables the driver to select from three engine settings – Eco, Normal and Sport. This system now not only selects appropriate pedal sensitivity settings in Eco and Sport modes, but also limits maximum engine torque in Eco mode to 220Nm. In Normal and Sport, the full 260Nm is available. The unit’s overall power output remains at 110HP while performance figures (109mph maximum speed, 0-62mph in 11.2sec) are also unchanged. The new generation engine will be available across all Juke grades excluding the NISMO.

  • The Nissan Resonance Concept Car

Nissan showed off their exciting new Resonance concept car at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show,  Featuring what the company calls “V-Motion” styling, it features a grill that sweeps upwards and a windshield and A-pillars that are steeply raked rearward.  The impression is a car in motion.  Nissan says its designers were inspired “hypersonic space travel.”  Team Nissan in New Hampshire  explained to us that the Resonance is similar to the current Nissan Murano with proportions that imitate the mid-size crossover’s, with an oblong profile and short hood.  High concept details of the Resonance concept include a panoramic glass roof, a tinted translucent acrylic grille, giant 22-inch wheels and boomerang-shaped lights.

Under the Resonance’s hood is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine driving a hybrid-electric drive system.  It employs a single motor and dual clutches driving an all-wheel drivetrain. The transmission is Nissan’s next-generation Xtronic continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The electric motor is powered by a large lithium-ion battery pack which is recharged not only by the engine and but by the vehicle braking kinetic energy.

Inside the Resonance the “V-Motion” styling ethic continues.  Even though this is a concept car, the futuristic interior aesthetic seems to appear production-feasible, not just for the show. The cockpit displays feature neat “layered” display panel graphics that reproduce a holographic setup without actual holographic technology.  The gauges directly in front of the steering wheel are similar in color and look to the information and control center so the combination has an all-encompassing panoramic feel to it.  Light-colored leather covers the seats and nearly every surface that isn’t already covered in metal or polished wood.

The Resonance may be a proxy for the styling of the 2015 Murano. Why not a separate Model? Well, the Murano has been one of Nissan’s more popular SUVs but not really one of its more practical cars. With the new seven-passenger Pathfinder now filling the role of people and gear hauler, it could very well be that the Resonance hints at Nissan’s planning for the future Murano, not a separate model. That may not a bad thing because in either a Resonance or Murano model, it should be a big hit in the showroom.

This special Nismo is powered by a 350 hp (257 kW) six-cylinder engine. The car also includes bespoke chassis tuned to deliver a sharper and more engaging driving experience. Nissan 370Z NISMO accelerates effortlessly from 0 to 100 km/h in only 5.2 seconds.
