  • From Hot Rods to Blown S197s, Justin Dugan Is AmericanMuscle’s Resident Gearhead [w/VIDEO]

Off The Heels Of Completing His 2014 Mustang Build, Justin Dugan Opens Up About His Passion For Cars

MALVERN, Pa. (June 30, 2017) – AmericanMuscle video host Justin Dugan recently completed his build on his 2014 Mustang GT with a 4th stage of mods. Adding a Roush TVS 2300 Blower, long tube headers, a Forgestar drag wheel setup, a mix of suspension and brake goodies, Justin’s 2014 GT is putting down 643 RWHP and 564 RWTQ, making it a lean, mean tire-shredding machine. But there is much more to Justin than his famous Mustang build; many people don’t know how big of a car enthusiast Justin is.

Justin grew up a gearhead, fawning over everything ‘60s and ‘70s muscle cars to air-cooled VWs and the iconic Lamborghini Countach. When it came time to get his license, Justin had his eyes on a 4-eyed Foxbody a neighbor was selling, but some parental intervention persuaded him to go with a 1970’s air-cooled VW Bus instead of a worked 308 Fox on drag wheels—probably a wise decision for a 16-year-old.

    Justiin Dugan Ford Mustang

In between owning the Bus and a few other old school cruisers, Justin eventually found himself with a 1927 all ‘Henry Ford’ steel roadster body on Model A rails. Justin spoke of the powerplant saying, “It’s powered by a 292 Y-block which is an often time forgotten about engine but it really is an important powerplant in the Ford lineage- it essentially bridged the gap between the flathead and the Windsor engines.  The Y-block doesn’t make a ton of power but it has an awesome sound to it, especially with the open headers I had on the car at the time.”

However, Justin’s ’27 hot rod is just one of his three current rides, and albeit for better or for worse, has taken a backseat to his other projects. After dialing things up to the max with his 2014 GT (Justin’s favorite car he’s owned to date), his focus is now set on his 2017 Raptor. Justin is still enjoying the Raptor in stock form saying, “It’s honestly more truck than most people need, including myself- but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to enjoy it.  In fact, we have some big plans for the truck, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.  It’s hard to improve something that is already badass but we have a few things in mind.”

    Justiin Dugan Ford Mustang

From hot rods to cruisers, Justin will drive just about anything with some character or some get-up-and-go, an essential trait for any bonafide gearhead. We love how Justin has modified his 2014 GT and look forward to seeing what he does with his 2017 Raptor.

  • Hennessey Performance Strikes Again. This Time the Lucky Vehicle is Ford Mustang! [VIDEO]

2016 Hennessey Performance Ford Mustang GT350Mustang has finally revealed some information about the performance rates of the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelb GT350 and GT350R. As you might know, both vehicles are limited to only 50 units and both of them showcase some incredible performance stats.

However, many people were still not satisfied about what is written on piece of paper and they did want real performance show. And they got one. A pretty tough one. And luckily, there is a sweet video that reveals more about vehicles’ nature and improvements. However, let’s check out why these two bad boys are so popular, shall we?

2016 Hennessey Performance Ford Mustang GT350

Honestly, there are not any significant exterior changes and tweaks that require special attention, nor there are any in the cabin, so we directly step into the most interesting part: the drivetrain system. Generally, there are a total 808hp (602kW) at 7,800rpm and 657lb-ft of torque at 4,600rpm of power output. Massive, isn’t it? I am pretty sure that you do want to know the final results of the tests. Here they are: the vehicles accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in mere 3.3 seconds and cover the distance of ¼ mile in mere 10.8 seconds.

SEE ALSO: Meet the VelociRaptor: Hennessey’s vision over Ford SUVs

But let’s talk more in details. Both vehicles share the same HPE800 Supercharged 5.2-liter V8 Voodoo engine system with numerous upgrades and changes. These include 2.9-liter supercharged system, 11.0:1 compression forged aluminum pistons, forged steel connecting rods and of course, numerous carbon fiber components.

2016 Hennessey Performance Ford Mustang GT350

I told you that there aren’t any notable visual additions. However, we should mention the Supercarged Exterior badging, Hennessey Exterior Badging, HPE800 Exterior badging, unique serial number dash and engine plaques and this well-known blue exterior finish.

I also mentioned a special video. Here it is. Enjoy!

  • Carlex Design interprets the fascinating 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback

1967 Ford Mustang Fastback by Carlex Design exterior

The iconic muscle car gets unparalleled interior design

Among the best interior tuning designers out there is undoubtedly Carlex Design. And by tuning the cabin of this 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback they have done literally the unimaginable: the experts have created a space that looks like a fine art. It is a stunning mixture of the old and new, which highlights the intense character of the most iconic of all Mustangs.

On the outside, the classic car looks like it has just gotten out of the production line. Well, there is a single change though: the slight modification of the suspension for a more modern one and suitable for European roads.

SEE ALSO: Carlex Design with Another Fantastic Project: Z4 Rampant

With the aim to retain the original character of the vehicle and to do something more special to the exterior, the interior designers decided to do something more than exceptional. To contrast the bright blue exterior, Carlex Design left the interior in dark colors.

1967 Ford Mustang Fastback by Carlex Design interior side view

In terms of materials, the upholstery is a combination of black nubuck and leather, while carbon fiber has been extensively to add sportier looks. Intriguingly emossed cut pattern and additional thick thread stitching on the seats of the original Mustang look like the link between the modern and the original designs of the car. Handmade silver screw caps, merit of Carlex Design Jeweller’s Atelier, and the chrome elements of the clock and speedometer bezels perfectly break the dark theme of the cabin.

Below the waistline, we see that the entire floor was lined with smooth black leather and then fitted with custom made mats. An interesting design decision is to add carbon fiber on the entire hub of the three-spoke steering wheel of the Mustang. In combination with the silver looks it stands out really posh. The lightweight material can also be seen on the central console, door boards and the dashboard.

This interpretation of 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback is an example how a design that isn’t flashy or overdone could still be innovative.

  • Which are top 6 of Europe’s greatest driving roads? Ford answers in exclusive video series [part one]

Europe’s greatest driving roads - RomaniaTraveling across Europe with a car can be very exciting and a proof for that is the special video series recently released by Ford and BP/Castrol. Dubbed under the name “Europe’s Greatest Driving Roads”, the footages explore six of the most exclusive pathways that could be found on the Old Continent.

How were the routes chosen? With a ranking by the thrill factor they offer, the road surface, the accessibility and hospitality, of course – the scenery, and not forgetting the food and drink after the drive. Those who were lucky to take this task have actually covered nearly 10,000 miles in 12 months to identify the most breath-taking drives! A dream job, isn’t it?

SEE ALSO: First ever Shelby GT-H prototype 50th anniversary edition goes to Barrett-Jackson

There are five countries featured in the series, namely: Romania, France, Germany, Spain (with two routes) and the United Kingdom. And the performance cars included in the videos are delivered by Ford, including the Mustang GT, Focus RS and Fiesta ST. Behind the wheel is the renowned car journalist Steve Sutcliffe.

Since there are only four videos of the series released so far, we are going to feature the other two in additional articles. Here are the first four featured.

    North Yorkshire, Blakey Ridge

    httpv://youtu.be/uPIXRv0pgi0

Driving a Ford Focus RS, Sutcliffe follows the route of an old railway line to the now quiet iron ore mines of the moors. The challenging Blakey Ridge is only 15 miles long and it’s not the longest road in the series, but the way “it winds itself across the moors, throwing blind crests and fast but ever tightening corners is completely fascinating”.

    ROMANIA, Transfăgărășan Highway

    httpv://youtu.be/5mIqlB3QOSk

This one is built by former Romanian dictator and it is actually one of the most famous routs in Europe. It even passes the castle of Dracula, Vlad the Impaler. Here the chosen car is Ford Mustang Fastback 5.0 V8. In it Steve shows that if one is a true driving enthusiast, the Transfăgărășan is genuinely a “bucket list kind of place to visit”.

    SPAIN, Catolonia, C462

    httpv://youtu.be/stxoXE0-4zQ

Behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta ST, Sutcliffe drove just over 100 km. The road winds its way north through Catalonia and ending over 100km later at La Seu D’Urgell, just south of Andorra. The very top of the C462 finds itself over 2000m and it is that point where you can stare over some of the most amazing view of the Pyrenees, visible in their entirety.

    FRANCE, the Alps, D526 & D926

    httpv://youtu.be/_YjIeyK_bSw

This is one of the hardest stages of the Tour de France, and equally challenging in a car, says Sutcliffe who drives the Ford Mustang Convertible 2.3. Although it is one of the most grueling places, the route is also one of the most picturesque ones.

So, if you are going to travel across Europe, then you should also know the best road opportunities that some countries can offers. These roads are for people who love cars and love driving, but also want to make an amazing road trip. The next two videos will include routes in Germany and Mallorca. Stay tuned!

  • Sutton’s Ford Mustang CS700 improved to deliver the perfect ride and up to 700hp

Clive Sutton Ford Mustang CS700 front viewClive Sutton, the famous dealer, has just unveiled Sutton Bespoke tuning packages for the right-hand drive Ford Mustang. They transform the muscle icon thoroughly and give it power of up to 700 hp. The unique individual program comprises from a wide range of equipment, which enhances car’s performance, handling and styling.

The tuner has made an emphasis over the upgraded suspension, because it delivers sharper on-the-limit handling, but it does not sacrifice the comfort over the broken road surfaces. Called Sutton Bespoke Power Packages, they offer three specifications CS350, CS500 and the supercharged CS700.

While the first one has been developed for the 2.3-litre EcoBoost model, the latter two were made for Ford’s 5.0-litre V8 equipped variants. Precisely, the Mustang with the CS350 Power Package has an improvement of its output of up to 330bhp. The CS500 Power Package incorporates an upgraded cold-air intake, thus making it possible to lift peak power to 440bhp.

SEE ALSO: Vilner celebrates 20th Anniversary with killing it project based on Shelby Mustang GT500 Super Snake

At the top of the range sits the CS700 Power Package, which dramatically increases the peak power of the standard V8, lifting it from 416bhp to 645bhp . How this was made possible? The tuner achieved it through the addition of a Whipple supercharger, upgraded intercooler and a new quad-tailpipe active exhaust system. And by the way, the other two packs also get the latter. Note that performance can be taken to an even higher level with the help of larger throttle body, uprated injectors and a different pulley. As a result, the peak power is taken to over 700bhp!

Clive Sutton Ford Mustang CS700 rear view

All packs include Active Exhaust Control, which is activated by a switch located on the centre console. How does the Mustang benefit from it? The system allows the driver to adjust the volume and tone of the exhaust sound, choosing from Touring, Sport, Track and Custom settings.

In addition, customers can specify handling modifications that complement the power upgrades. Precisely, the Sutton Bespoke Ride Package features KW coilovers and adjustable springs at the front, matched dampers at the rear. The result is 30mm lower height.

As an option, Sutton developed the Appearance Package, which includes a carbon fiber decklid panel, chin spoiler, rear wing and side skirts, painted wing mirrors, gloss black ‘Pony’ emblem for the V8 , gloss black ‘5.0’ wing motifs.

There is a Brake Package, too. It adds uprated discs with two-piece rotors that reduce mass and improve heat management. The standard alloys are changed with 20-inch, 10-spoke custom finished gloss black Vossen rims.

  • Ford invites everyone to a special exhibition event. Check it out!

Ford Intellectual Property Power ExhibitionFord and the National Inventors Hall of Fame Museum (NIHF) are to unveil an unique Mustang vehicle that blends classic and contemporary features of the 1965 model and the 2015 model in one-of-a-kind exposition.

This split-personality Mustang is part of a new Intellectual Property Power Exhibit at the NIHF and along with other exhibits, the Mustang is here to celebrate the story of intellectual property and the illumination of science and innovation in America. This interactive exhibition also highlights the importance of patents and the tremendous march of technology throughout the decades.

The NIHF sought out Ford as its main partner for this project because the well-known brand has played an important part in the history of American innovation, especially as it comes to the iconic Mustang vehicle.

As you might know, when Mustang was launched, there were no specific styling patents or similar. It was long after the car showed its true capabilities and potential and there were more than a million units sold in the first 18 months, when the styling patents were considered and applied. Cool, right?

    Ford Intellectual Property Power Exhibition

Back in 1965, Mustang adopted more than 100 Ford functional patents. Some of them reflect what customers loved back then: a rear-seat speaker and a power convertible top. Also, there were some patented features that we take for granted now, just like Patent 3,271,540 – the origin of Ford’s self-canceling turn signal.

SEE ALSO: Ford Performance and the story behind 2016 Focus RS RX

In contemporary age, Mustang is also considered as a wellspring of creative design and engineering achievements. The vehicle introduced the first passenger knee airbag system with a total of 15 patents granted. Also, it debuts electronic line-lock, along with standard launch control for more consistent performance at the drag strip. Mustang also incorporates features as seat cushion with wallet or phone pocket, more comfortable seats and more.

    Ford Intellectual Property Power Exhibition

Many of those patents will be on display at the exhibition, crafted by Classic Design Concepts, combining 60 per cent of the original Mustang and another 60 per cent of a new pony car. The left side is a complete reproduction of the 1965 Mustang model, while the other side is a 2015 Mustang that is already available in more than 150 countries.

Visitors will also be able to get in the unique car in either side and directly compare the old-fashioned style to the modern vehicle appearances.

So, what do you think about the idea? Write down in the comment section!

  • WRAPworks creates new outfit for the Mustang GT Fastback

WRAPworks Ford Mustang GT Side ViewAnother interesting tuning project for today is presented before us by the German specialists at WRAPworks. Their name might sound misleading, because this tuning is not only about foil wrapping, but also modifications regarding performance and driving enjoinment. Although the Mustangs are not a common car in Europe, WRAPworks have managed to put their hands on a 421 hp, 5.0-liter V8 Mustang GT ‘Fastback’. As a result, they have made it even more impressive and literally a rolling showcase for their art.

The Foil Work and Other Colors

Starting-off with the wrapping, as a basis of the design the tuners used a two-tone scheme. Here, the original Iridium Black Mica paint stayed untouched on its front and roof, while the rear and the flanks aft of the front wheel arches were covered in a matt silver metallic film.

SEE ALSO: Good News For Mustang Lovers Out There: 2017 Shelby GT350 Receives Additional Refinement

To create a complex design, WRAPworks featured a series of angled stripes and lettering in Chrome Silver and bright Neon Yellow and Neon Green. When looked from different angles they reveal new details.

Interestingly enough the color-coded work did not end here. Mustang’s factory 9.0 and 9.5×19-inch alloys were powder coated Neon Green at the front and Neon Yellow at the rear. In addition, the windows now include 95-percent tint.

    Performance Upgrades

WRAPworks Ford Mustang GT Rear view

The well-known Mustang experts at Roush Performance delivered new Hood and Window Scoops, rear spoiler and under body diffuser, the new Cold Air Intake system and the four-pipe rear exhaust system. The same specialists made the Roush gearshift knob, which makes the shifting slicker.

At last, the ST X coilover suspension lowers the ride height and makes better the wheel control. On the other hand, the combination of Eibach 40 mm front and Velocity Wheel 46 mm rear wheel spacers and the Steeda Autosports G-Trac underbody brace further improves the Mustang GT’s driving dynamics. Well, it does this to the on-road stance of the car, doesn’t it?

  • Meet Ford Mustang Geiger GT 820 with Almost Doubled Horsepower

Ford Mustang Geiger GT 820 front View Ford Mustang was born more than 50 ears ago, in the distant 1964. The original American Pony Car soon became emblematic and now there is hardly anyone that doesn’t dream of at least taking a ride in it. The German specialists at GeigerCars.de have made a leap forward and given this amazing muscle vehicle a new performance and styling attitude.

After the conversion, the car carries the label Geiger Mustang GT 820, and as you can tell the number behind GT is there for a reason. It is to signify that the horses have been almost doubled: from 421 hp to 820 hp and 760 Nm of torque. This improvement was achieved due to the addition of an intercooled supercharger conversion to the 5.0 litre V8 engine.

GT Performance package balances the performance even further, and it includes a Brembo six-pot calliper big brake system, 3.73:1 final drive and Torsen limited-slip differential. Without being part of the pack, Geiger-sports suspension kit is another important part of the GT 820 conversion.

The in-house made carbon-fibre body kit comprises of a new grille, large front spoiler lip and matching side skirts, visually boosts the appearance of the car. At the rear, we see an under body diffuser and boot lid spoiler. To fill out the wheel arches, the tuners mounted black-painted Y-spoke lightweight forged alloy wheels in 20-inch size shod with 255/35R20 and 295/30R20 Michelin tyres, and this rounds out the tuning of the Mustang.
