  • Porsche Exclusive Shows an Impulsive Macan Turbo

Then next car in Porsche Exclusive’s range of vehicles is the Macan Turbo. It is so charming that we immediately fell in love with it. The first reason for this is its intense colour, called Impulse Red Metallic. In addition, company’s sub-department has treated the Macan with various cosmetic tweaks. There is literally no official information released by the company, nevertheless pictures are speaking for themselves.

The same hue, Impulse Red Metallic, which adorns the body of the car, can be seen also throughout the interior on the dials and seatbelts. Other benefits inside are the dark brown leather upholstery and carbon fiber accents visible on the dashboard.

We can see that the crossover rides on huge rubbers. They come in the dimension of 21-inches and are finished in black high gloss. The Sport Classic alloy wheels are accompanied by the yellow brake calipers. On the exterior we also see blackened bi-xenon headlights, SportDesign exterior mirrors and glossy black side skirts, roof rails and rear diffuser.

Porsche Macan Turbo is driven by a twin-turbocharged 3.6 liter V6 engine. It produces 400 horsepower (294 kW) and can accelerate the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds. And if the car is equipped with Sport Chrono package, then this time decreases with 0.2 seconds. The tops speed is limited at 266 km/h (165 mph).

Despite this impressive performance, the Macan Turbo is still capable of showing good enough fuel consumption which ranges from 8.9 to 9.2 liters per 100 km (30.7 mpg UK or 25.6 mpg US) as well as CO2 emissions of 208-216 g/km.

  • Is Techart’s new Porsche Macan Lineup Character-Oriented?

Techart-Porsche-Macan-Lineup-THUMBThe famous tuning company Techart, which specializes in modifying Porsche models only, claims that its latest Macan Lineup is “character-orientated”. We are about to put some questions and see whether this is likely to be so or not.  Techart’s fifth generation Macan can show-off with new aerodynamics, better engine performance, new exhaust systems, suspension and wheels as well as interior refinement. So far so good, but lets go further into details.

First, the aerodynamics program for this Porsche model stands under the slogan “Reduction vs. concentration” and offers the typical design language of the company. Therefore, the attributes of the basic vehicle’s sporty lines are emphasized. Precisely, the aerodynamic elements include new front spoiler, side skirts, roof spoiler, rear spoiler trim and rear diffuser, which were made of high-quality PU-RIM. This material general characteristic is the low weight.

For those who do not think that these aero-elements are enough to make the car exceptional, then Techart has created for them the in-house made Sports Package Carbon that sets sincere styling highlights. It includes duct trim at the Macan’s front, new side mirror trims as well as roof spoiler. There’s a catch though – they will only be available for all Porsche Macan in carbon fibre.

Talking about personalization and character-orientated tuning, the customization company is offering attractive accent colour via its individual paint elements like fog light trims, air intake uprights, front wings or side blades fit seamlessly into the desired play of colours. But … is this enough?

Of course, if there weren’t any power kits for these Porsche Macans, the answer would be probably “No”. However, Techart tuners are thoughtful and have come along with several proposals for power gains. Speaking in these terms, the 6-cylinder engines of the Porsche Macan models are enhanced via company’s power kits, based on the intelligent Techart engine management system, dubbed TECHTRONIC.

This system elicits additional power output for the petrol and diesel engines and generates approximately 50 hp (37 kW) and 70 Nm (52 lb-ft) more power for the Macan Turbo with just one press of the Sport- or Sport Plus button. Thus the maximum output of the twin-turbo engine becomes 450 horsepower (331 kW) available at 6.200 1/min and 620 Nm (458 lb-ft) at 2.700 1/min. The acceleration time in Sport Plus is measured at 4.4 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, which is 0.2s faster that the standard model; from 0 to 160 km/h – in 10.6s (standard model 10.9s). The top speed increased from 266 to 271 km/h.

This additional power has to have its audible equivalent. Here come Techart’s exhaust systems Sport for the Porsche Macan models. They are made of stainless steel, which ensure that you’re not only able to feel, but also hear the strength of the Macan. The electronically valve-controlled exhaust is controllable by the press of a button at centre console.

As a result, the driver gets a distinctive and rich sound with a high recognition value for the V6 petrol engines. In addition, Techart’s Sport Tail Pipes in stainless steel and attractive dual oval design with embossed logotype provide the visual significance.

Next are the suspension options that offer additional variability and sportiness. The well known Air Suspension Module Sport of the tuners has been intelligently adjusted to the vehicle levels of the Macan models. It enables ride height adjustment in driving, loading and parking condition for vehicles with standard air suspension. In the low level or driving in Sport Plus mode, the vehicle lowers by 30 mm in comparison to the normal level and remains activated during all speeds.

The possibilities of individualization for the Porsche Macan models continue with the offering of three wheel designs, available in 21- and 22-inch as well as in various surface finishing combinations. Besides attractive color combinations, they can be customized individually to suit the vehicle in question. Brake calipers can also be customized with unique paint to match the colour combination in the wheel arch.

At last, we have to review whether Techart interior refinement for the Macan is what will eventually round-out this character-oriented tuning. Inside we see that the exquisite new leather equipment was complemented by tuning company’s interior styling package. The latter features carbon fibre or in exotic woods elements.

There are new ergonomically shaped 3-spokes multifunctional sport steering wheel with Techart paddle shifters, aluminium sport pedals and foot rests, floor mats, loadspace floor ma as well as illuminated door entry guards. And here is where we feel a little bit disappointed. In general this tuning offers exceptional individual customization … except for the interior. Maybe Techart has to learn something like tuners such as Vilner and A. Kahn Design? What do you think?

  • Porsche Macan and Boxster – Auto Express Awards

2015 Porsche Macan has been rewarded by Auto Express New Car Awards. It won in the category – Best Compact SUV, while the sporty Boxster received the Best Roadster Award – for the third year in a row.

The Macan is the first Porsche to enter the compact SUV segment and combines the typical handling characteristics like excellent acceleration, braking and extreme agility. The fast crossover also boasts a nice steering precision as well as a high level of comfort and everyday suitability.

“Turn into a corner and the Macan responds with the same athleticism and poise as the mid-engined Cayman….Better still, you get the same perfectly-weighted controls that fizz with feedback. Amazingly, the Porsche is as capable off the beaten track as on it. The permanent four-wheel drive serves up near-unbreakable traction. Yet none of these remarkable dynamic feats comes at the expense of the Macan’s abilities as a desirable family runaround.”, commented Auto Express editorial team.

On the other hand, Porsche Boxster boasts a unique lightweight body, charismatic flat-six engines, sharp chassis responses and evolutionary yet utterly distinctive styling. It defines what an open-top sports car should be. Core to its enduring appeal is the mid-engined layout that delivers poise and balance combined with precise, agile handling.

“There are few cars we’d choose to go for a cross country blast in ahead of the Porsche Boxster. It has poise and power by the bucketload, yet it’s also tremendously comfortable to use as a daily driver. Best of all, for the performance on offer it’s seriously good value.”, the editorial team clearly agreed.

  • Porsche Macan Turbo – Nurburgring Test [video]

Porsche Macan Turbo was spied during Nurburgring tests and probably this is a more powerful “S” model planned by the German manufacturer. The Macan Turbo is expected to hit the market sometime in 2015 with a starting price in Germany of €79,826 (VAT included). So, the possible Macan Turbo S will be over €90,000.

    2015 Porsche Macan Turbo is powered by a twin-turbocharge 3.6 liter V6 – 400HP (294 kW). 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds (4.6 seconds with Sport Chrono package) and a top speed of 266 km/h (165 mph). The fuel consumption is decent 9.2 liters / 100 km (30.7 mpg UK or 25.6 mpg US)and CO2 emissions of 216 g/km.

The Macan Turbo S is expected to generate at least 430HP (316 kW), so the 0-100 km/h will be cut by 0.2 seconds and the top speed will be slightly increased probably  to 280 km/h (175 mph).

  • Porsche Macan – Four-Cylinder 2.0 liter Turbo

Porsche has unveiled a new entry-level version of the compact crossover – Macan. The new model will be powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged engine. It is going to offer good dynamics and reasonable fuel consumption.

The German manufacturer has last used a four-cylinder engine in 1995 for the 968. It was 3.0 liter with 240HP and 305Nm and accelerated the sports coupe 0-100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds (manual gearbox variant).

Twenty years later, the 2015 Porsche Macan has received a four-cylinder, 2.0 liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 241HP (177 kW) and 350Nm (258 lb-ft). It is connected to a PDK dual-clutch gearbox and 0-100 km/h is reached in 6.9 seconds. The fuel consumption is very good 7.5 liters / 100 km (31.3 mpg US or 37.6 mpg UK).

The four-cylinder Macan can be recognized with its dual exhaust arrangement as opposed to the S and Turbo variants which make use of quad pipes. There are also 18” alloy wheels and a dual-zone climate control system as standard. The options list includes a panoramic roof, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) along with front and rear Park Assist.

  • Porsche Macan 3-door [render image]

Here is an interesting version of the all-new 2014 Porsche Macan, which originally comes in only 5-door variant. The 3-door variant has been previewed by TheophilusChinand according to us looks really nice.

Just like the Evoque 3-door by Range Rover, the 3-door Macan comes with more sloped roofline and more desirable and cleaner look. It fact, it is a real eye-catcher and Porsche should definitely consider such variant.

Three years ago, when the Macan emerged for first time, it was in a three-door configuration, but Porsche Decided to leave the rear doors in place, so the car looks exactly like a smaller Cayenne.

Of course, the engine range will be exactly the same, but the interior will suffer a bit and especially the rear passengers, who will have a lot less space.

  • TopCar Porsche Macan

2014 Porsche Macan is on its way, but the Russian tuning company TopCar has already started developing a styling package.

The small crossover will be upgraded by an aerodynamics package including new front bumper with a lip spoiler, a two-piece extender of the front and rear fenders. There are also linings on the front fenders with the TopCar logo. Other elements include a new side skirts, a new rear bumper with modified diffuser and a new rear spoiler.

The entire body kit is priced from €14,620, but it is also available in visible carbon fiber, which will bump the price to €18,270.

TopCar will also offer several performance packages boosting the engines in the range as well as a set of ADV.1 alloy wheels fitted with low-profile tires.

The interior will also get some new elements in carbon fiber.

  • 2015 Porsche Macan Makes Official World Debut

2015-Porsche-Macan-S-THUMBOne of the most exclusive premieres at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show was made by Porsche with the introduction of the brand new Macan model. The car, which was teased last week, makes an expansion to brand’s range in to a whole new vehicle segment.

Moreover, the premium SUV is currently on the market and can be ordered, with deliveries expected in April next year. 2015 Macan will embody the proven Porsche values of maximum acceleration and braking performance, great engine power, extreme agility and optimum steering precision. The difference however, which it will make is that it will bring all those qualities for the first time to the compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment.

The dynamism in terms of performance is secured by the typical handling characteristics that the Macan has inherited. In addition, the design of the car is inspired by other Porsche sports cars and then implemented in the Macan. It is therefore reasonable to assume that the Macan is the first compact SUV that is also a sports car.

The vehicle will be available in three variants from launch: Macan S, Macan S Diesel and Macan Turbo. Some of the technical highlights include Porsche Traction Management (PTM) active all-wheel drive and the Porsche PDK double-clutch transmission which are fitted as standard.

The design of this exclusive SUV embodies sportiness, dynamism and precision, together with elegance and lightweight construction. It has harmonious proportions thus making it appearing more compact, powerful and close to the road.

2015 Macan has an impressive front view: it incorporates large air intakes and ‘C-blades’ fitted in them. The wraparound bonnet creates an impressive design detail, enclosing the headlights and extending down to the wheel arches.

The sharp silhouette emphasizes the dynamic nature of the vehicle, while the design lines running to the rear of the vehicle highlight the broad, sculpted wings. On the Macan S and Macan S Diesel, the sideblades are painted Lava Black as standard. The Macan Turbo features sideblades painted in the same colour as the exterior. Sideblades in Genuine Carbon will be offered as an option.

The rear lights on the Macan are another impressive design feature. They include a compact three-dimensional design and LED technology. On all models, the rear diffuser is flanked on both sides by twin tailpipes. As an option, all models can be ordered with chrome-plated stainless steel sport tailpipes.

The models will utilize one of the three six-cylinder engines offered. First, the Macan S is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo engine that delivers 340 hp (250 kW) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.2 seconds. A seven-speed double-clutch transmission transfers power as require. The vehicle reaches a top speed of 158 mph, and its NEDC fuel consumption figures are between 31.4 and 32.5 mpg, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of between 212 and 204 g/km.

Next, the Macan Turbo – the top of the model range, is equipped with the 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo engine which generates 400 hp (294 kW) and accelerates the vehicle to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds. With the Sport Chrono package fitted, this falls to 4.6 seconds. Although the top speed here is 165 mph, the Macan Turbo delivers fuel consumption figures of between 30.7 and 31.7 mpg, which equates to a CO2 value of between 216 and 208 g/km.

At last, the Diesel version of the model is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that is capable of delivering 258 hp (190 kW). The unit accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 6.3 seconds and achieves a top speed of 143 mph. The model returns an average of 46.3 mpg (NEDC), which correspond to CO2 emissions of between 164 and 159 g/km.

The focus on agility continues into the Porsche Macan interior, because it sports sophisticated lines, sportiness, quality and elegance. The driver’s seat includes a character of a sports car. Another sporty feature is the multi-function sports steering wheel, the design of which is based on the 918 Spyder.

The instrument cluster comprises of three round dials with a centrally positioned tachometer. In the right-hand tube is positioned a 4.8-inch colour display. The buttons for the most important functions are clustered on the centre console.

The Macan S is fitted as a standard with the Piano Black interior package and seats wrapped in Alcantara. The Macan Turbo is fitted with adaptive sports seats as standard in leather, including 18-way power seats with memory package and a brushed aluminium interior package. In addition, all models are available with the Dark Burl Walnut and Carbon decors as an option.

Standard equipment on all models includes Porsche Traction Management (PTM), seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) double-clutch transmission, alloy wheels, digital radio, front and rear ParkAssist, floor mats, multi-function steering wheel with gearshift paddles, electronic tailgate release and USB port connection.

2015 Macan Turbo adds BOSE Surround Sound audio system, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with satellite navigation, leather interior, alcantara roof lining, 18-way adjustable adaptive front sports seats with memory, Bi-Xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), sideblades in exterior colour and 19 inch diameter alloy wheels.
