2014 Range Rover Sport Sets Pikes Peak Hill Climb Record

2014 Range Rover Sport has just made its first record for a production-standard Sport Utility Vehicle and even more – it broke the long standing record for any kind of production-standard vehicle on the Pikes Pike International Hill Climb. The achievement was done at the annual competition known as ‘The Race To the Clouds’.

There the new Range Rover Sport managed to conquer the 12.42-mile course in only 12 minutes 35.61 seconds. The average speed it achieved on this track is 59.17 mph (95.23 km/h). The record was independently timed and sanctioned by Pikes Peak International Hill Climb organisers of the annual competition at the Colorado venue.

TO be more precise, the record was set by this Range Rover model which is equipped with the 510 hp 5.0-litre supercharged petrol V8 engine. The only thing that differentiated the vehicle from production specification was the fitment of a roll cage and harness seatbelts.

The SUV was driven by Paul Dallenbach who is already known as a Pikes Peak specialist and who has won his division at the Hill Climb six times and won the event outright three times.

The new Range Rover Sport was developed alongside the highly-acclaimed Range Rover with the aim to deliver brand’s best-ever on-road dynamics and all-terrain capability. The latest generation of this model has more assertive and muscular exterior as well as more luxurious interior. In addition, the 2014 specification provides by the option of occasional third row seating.

The lightweight suspension design and innovative dynamic chassis technologies are also included in the new Range Rover Sport. This serves in weight optimization and in fact saves mode than 420 kg of the total weight of the SUV.

Land Rover DC100 Defender Concept

Land Rover Defender replacement was delayed due to styling concerns and a new report is indicating the “basic” model has been scrapped altogether.Autocar has released an information that the Defender successor will not be produced in India and plans for an Indian engine factory have been put on ice. Other rumor says that the replacement will be delayed until after 2015, so there is a big problem because the current model is slated to retire in 2015.Land Rover’s aluminium body shop can currently handle 95 thousand units per year on three shifts, but there is already existing room for expansion to 180 thousand units. The manufacturer has started work on a further extension of the body shop, suggesting it expects to roll out more than four models based on the PLA platform.

The latter brings the exceptional design language of the tuning company to a new level by commanding curvatures and firm body elements in order to ensure the vehicle is mannered for daily driving.

This means that the vehicle provides exceptional resilience and style thanks to the lightweight design and sophisticated aerodynamics of this styling package. The visual stance of the model is dominated by front and rear wide wings with integrated vents and bolt apertures.

Kahn Range Rover Santorini Black RS600 Cosworth

The tuners at A. Kahn Design have revealed their latest project which is on the iconic Range Rover. It includes a seductive mix of santorini black metallic livery and an invigorating boost in terms of power. The enhancements in the output were the courtesy of Cosworth.

They have ensured for the Kahn Range Rover Santorini Black RS 600 Cosworth a very rapid and individual 4×4 that can achieve acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.5 seconds. The reason for this premium performance is the 5.0 supercharged HSE engine.

To be more precise, the engine enhancements consist of an arrangement of alterations to the supercharger and ECU programming. This results in a boost in power from 500 hp (368 kW) to 545 hp (400 kW). The torque is also changed and it is estimated now around 813 Nm (600 lb-ft).

The exterior of this vehicle is exceptional and it looks enchanting tanks to its elongated silhouette. What the designers have done is to equip it with new RS600 styling package that comprises of the following elements: RS vented front and rear wheel arches with integrated rear air dams (3 pieces), an extended front lower lip spoiler, Satin Black bonnet and roof stripe, RS front grille with 3D mesh, front wheel arch LED light strips, exterior Kahn enamel wing shields, Kahn enamel tailgate logo, Exhausts side vents (pair) and door handles in body colour.

This particular model comes with a Vesuvius Orange Rev Counter, Interior facia trim (8 pieces), front and rear bespoke seats, floor mats, quilted centre glove box, vented foot pedals in machined aluminum, and rear tailgate centre trim in 3D Carbon finish.

Kahn Range Rover Santorini Black RS600 Cosworth runs effortlessly on Kahn RS600 wheels which in this case are in sizes 9 x 22” and 10 x 22” for the front and the rear respectively. They fit all original centre caps.

LUMMA Design Range Rover Sport CLR RS Delivers More On-Road Aggressiveness

LUMMA Design Range Rover Sport CLR RS now has enhanced aggressive stance thanks to the modifications done on it by the designing team. LUMMA‘s latest creation includes redesigned wide-body kit, which was already introduced via the LUMMA CLR components.

The exclusive LUMMA CLR RS offers impressive looks combined with sportiness ad elegance. For instance, the striking front spoiler bumper further accentuates the character of this Range Rover model.

In addition, the double daytime running lights serve as design elements that enhance the sporty look of the vehicle. In the widened fenders on the other hand there are additional air intakes. What is more, the sports front grille is available in visible carbon or painted. The door panels harmonize with the beefy extensions.

When looked at the rear, this model highlights the silhouette of the brand new Range Rover Sport thanks to the massive rear apron bumper including a rear diffuser. Kahn Range Rover Evoque Imperial Blue RS250 has a striking appearance thanks to its imperial blue exterior paint that contrasts the matt pearl grey bonnet stripe and black roof. In other words it exudes individuality and distinctiveness.

2014 Range Rover – US Price $63,495

2014 Range Rover - Front Angle

The new 2014 Range Rover Sport is now available in the US with starting price of $63,495. The customers can also configure their future vehicle online.

For now, the configurator allows you to opt for the V6 variant, 7-seat arrangement, blind spot monitor, park assist, surround camera, adaptive cruise control and an off-road package.

The 5+2 seating layout is priced at $2,750, while the Extra Duty Package costs $1,300. It includes automatic Terrain Response and a two-speed transfer case. Another $2,000 will cost the rear seat entertainment and $2,100 sticker for the Climate Comfort and Visibility Package which includes heated front/rear seats, 16-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, adaptive headlights and heated windshield. Other option is the Meridian Premium Audio system – $1,950.

The fully-loaded V6-powered SE variant can be configured up to $77,850 USD.

2014 Range Rover Sport Revealed In New York

2014 Range Rover Sport has just been revealed on the streets of New York today. The ultimate premium sports SUV is the fastest, most agile and responsive Land Rover ever built in company’s history.

The new Range Rover Sport features brands best-ever on-road dynamics combined with class-leading all-terrain capability. The model exudes assertive and muscular exterior, and has more luxurious interior and the flexibility provided by the option of occasional 5+2 seating.

In addition, through lightweight suspension design and innovative dynamic chassis technologies this model is lighter with 420 kg compared to the previous generation. The result is better performance, agility mixed with exceptional comfort, energetic driving experience and CO2 emissions reduced to 194g/km.

The official world premiere pf the vehicle will happen at the New York International Auto Show after it has been teased twice two weeks ago. The bold and progressive exterior design now features improved driving performance.

Moreover, the vehicle has a sleek and contemporary appearance combined with improved utilization of space. To be more precise, the new Sport is just 62mm longer than its predecessor, yet at 4850mm, it is shorter than other 7-seater SUVs and most E segment sedans. Nevertheless, the longer wheelbase delivers greater room and comfortability.

Furthermore, this Range Rover model is offered with a choice of wheel designs ranging through 19-, 20-, 21- and 22-inches in diameter including the iconic “Viper’s Nest”. Fifth generation air suspension included here offers up to 115 mm of regular movement. On the other hand an automatic extension, triggered by sensors, and a manually-selected extension, both raise the Sport by 35mm, giving a total movement range of 185mm.

Another innovation that is to be found in the model is the electric power steering which results in a lighter, more direct steering feel. A choice of two full-time 4WD systems will be offered: the first one will offer two-speed transfer case with low-range option with a front-rear 50/50 percent default torque split, and 100 percent locking capability.

The other system is 18 kg lighter and includes a single-speed transfer case with a Torsen differential, which automatically distributes torque to the axle with most grip, working in conjunction with the traction control systems.

In terms of power, this emblematic Land Rover model will be offered with a choice of two powertrains from launch, one new Hybrid and two further diesel engines to follow.

The first engines are the supercharged 5.0-litre 510 PS (375 kW) V8 petrol engine and the 3.0-litre 292 PS (2015 kW) SDV6 diesel engine. In the future, the powertrain line-up will be expanded with the addition of the 3.0-litre 258 PS (190 kW) TDV6 and high performance 4.4-litre 339 PS (250 kW) SDV8 diesel engine. What is more, a high-efficiency diesel Hybrid model will be also available to order.

Across the range of the afore mentioned engines, the acceleration times for the 0-60 mph dash start from 5 seconds. All petrol and diesel engines in the new Range Rover Sport are mated with the advanced electronically controlled ZF 8HP70 eight-speed automatic gearbox.

To go even further into details, the all-new Range Rover Sport is the first vehicle in its segment to include an advanced all-aluminium body structure. This results in excellent agility and driving dynamics, but also offers significantly reduced weight and enhanced sustainability.

In terms of interior, the new Sport provides distinctive design cues, superior detailing and craftsmanship. It is unique blend of style and luxury with strong, elegant lines, top quality materials and an extra sporting character.

The sports feeling of the interior is additionally enhanced through the smaller diameter, thicker steering wheel, vertical gear shifter, higher centre console, configurable mood lighting and more generous seat bolsters. The Sports Command Driving Position (CDP) combines the supreme sense of confidence and control offered by the Range Rover, with a more sporting seating position similar to the Evoque.

What is more, the interior packaging improved thanks to the 24mm more knee room, and in addition, the occupants also benefit from the wider cabin. A neatly integrated third row, occasional 5+2 seating can be specified. These powered seats leave a flat floor with no loss of boot space and are split 50/50.

2014 Range Rover Sport has been engineered to embody the latest developments in technologies and safety features. Some of them are the Adaptive Dynamics featuring continuously variable dampers (CVD), Dynamic Response active lean control, a Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential, and Torque Vectoring by Braking.

In the new model is also introduced a digital camera system with three driver assistance features: Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition and Automatic High Beam Assist. Another unique innovation on the Sport is the new Wade Sensing™ feature that provides ‘depth’ information when driving through water, made even more beneficial to the driver now that the Sport’s maximum wading depth has increased by 150mm over the previous model to 850mm.

First Footage Of The 2014 Range Rover Sport Released [VIDEO]

Land Rover has just released a teaser footage showing an early glimpse of Land Rover’s most dynamic vehicle ever produced. Yes, we are talking about the new 2014 Range Rover Sport, which will make its first world appearance only in two weeks.

The place is New York and the event – 2013 NAIAS. In fact, the new model will be seen on the roads and streets of the famous US city. In the video below, you will se not much of the Range Rover, however it will give you a good idea of the aggressive presence it brings with itself.

The video reveals a glimpse of how the headlamps will look like as well as gives an impression of the sound of the engine under the its hood. 2014 Range Rover Sport Teased!

It has just been announced that the brand new 2014 Range Rover Sport will make its world debut on 26th of March at the New York Auto Show. In addition, a teaser image of it were revealed. This will be Land Rover‘s fastest, most responsive and most agile vehicle ever produced.

As a matter of fact the car will be showcased for the first time on the streets of the Range Rover Sport’s largest market – New York City. In addition, the event will be broadcasted live, hence it will be also available for virtual presence of the global audiences.
