  • Meet the First Flying Huntsman a.k.a.105 Longnose Defender

At last! The Flying Huntsman (Longnose 105) is here. We have seen the vehicle only in sketches and now we are presented the first images of the unique model. The Land Rover Defender has been elongated with an extra 400mm of bodywork, which was inserted into the elongated nose cone ahead of the windscreen. The vehicle is a combination of Kahn‘s sublime style and Paris-Dakar race bred performance technology. In other words it combines great visual characteristics with supreme performance.

To be more precise, the Flying Huntsman is powered by a 6.2-litre GM LS3 V8 engine, which drives a six-speed automatic gearbox operated by push-button controls. An upgraded braking and suspension system completes the engineering overhaul. The power of the engine is around 400-450 hp (294-330 kW).

On the outside, the exterior of the Huntsman is augmented with a square sectioned wide arch body kit, which features front bumper with integral LED lamps and sump guard, vented tailpipe exit mud flaps, side steps, Chelsea signature wide wings, crosshair headlamps and a rugged new grille.

The future models that will wear the Flying Huntsman badge include a 4 door variant with a correspondingly longer wheelbase, and a 6×6 model. There will be also a number of engine manufacturers to make a total of four variants of powerplants, which consist of 3.0 and 6.2 petrol models and 3.2 and 4.6 Diesel models.

B4 and B6 armoured variants or the so called extreme conversions will also be available, while the B7 variant is still under consideration. Currently, there is no confirmation of the number of units that are to be produced. Previous information points to the number 49.

The Flying Huntsman 105 Longnose is the first in an upcoming line of related retro classic models. Each of them will be based on the Land Rover Defender. The first example of the 105 Longnose will be formally unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

  • Land Rover Shows Trio of Defender Limited Editions [VIDEO]

Land Rover is closing one chapter and opening a new one in the Land Rover Defender life. In order to celebrate its iconic modals, the automaker creates three bespoke special editions named: Heritage, Adventure and Autobiography. Each of them highlights a specific aspect of the Defender’s nature, while conveying a sort of individualism, distinguishable sophistication and breadth of character.

To start with, Land Rover Heritage Edition takes its inspiration from early Land Rover models and embodies “nostalgic design cues with modern creature comforts.” It comes with a Grasmere Green paintowork contrasted by a white roof. This model is further defined by a heritage grille and HUE 166 graphics as a recollection of the registration plate of the first pre-production Land Rover called “Huey”. Its production will be limited to 400 units in the UK in August with a starting price of £27,800.

The exclusive Defender Autobiography version unleashes better performance, luxury and convenience than before. It has duo-tone paintjob, full Windsor leather upholstery and an improved power output from 122 HP (90 kW) and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) to 150 HP (110 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). The Defender Autobiography Editions will be available in the UK from April. 80 units will be produced exceptionally as a 90 Station Wagon. The starting price is that of £61,845.

Lastly, the Land Rover Defender Adventure Edition is designed for people who enjoy the great outdoors and like the free-spirited attitude of the Defender which allows them to go whenever they want and do whatever they want too. It is equipped with an extra underbody protection and Goodyear MT/R tires which enhance the all-terrain capabilities of this madness on four wheels. What makes the Adventure model stands out is the use of unique decals and a leather-trimmed cabin. There are going to be 600 Adventure Editions in the UK in August, priced at £43,495.

Honoring the Defender’s story, Land Rover has created the largest sand drawing ever made in the UK.

  • Kahn and Chelsea Truck Company Makeover for Land Rover Defender SVX

Kahn-Land-Rover-Defender-SVX-Chelsea-Truck-Company-THUMBThe rock-solid Land Rover Defender has once again fallen in the hands of A. Kahn Design and Chelsea Truck Company to get a makeover. Both tuning companies say that this custom Defender is for “those who like to drive in a suitably presidential manner” and we are to agree with them. Follow our thoughts to understand why. The revamped vehicle features a wide range of accessories and styling features which lend it more aggressive and at the same time luxurious stance. At the front and rear we see wide wings with vents and bolt apertures.

The wheel arches have been extended and they perfectly harmonize with the new bumper sump guard, mesh side and top bonnet vents, mud flaps, paint roll bars and side steps in matt black. In general, the body of this Land Rover is covered with santorini black paint finish.

Not to mention the cross-hair military headlights, the fog lamps from A. Kahn Design and the X-Lander front grille. All they command is attention and they deserve it. The vehicle runs on Volcanic Black Mondial wheels in 9.0 x 20” fitment with 275 x 55 x 20 tyres. We have missed to mention the crosshair exhaust system that additionally gives this 60th anniversary Defender SVX Edition a rugged look.

Unlike most tuners, A. Kahn Design is famous for its generously equipped custom interiors. Consequently, this Defender benefits from front racing seats in black quilted nappa leather with Harris Tweed Inserts and silver contrast stitching. Firm cushioning in the form of Harris Tweed inserts improves the overall comfort, too.

The tuning inside continues with black door panels, dashboard and centre glove box in black quilted nappa, both with Harris Tweed inserts, and silver contrast stitching. Those who are looking carefully at the pictures below will also see the, Churchill time clock and speedo/rev counter facia in red, the Kahn billet steering wheel, the centre console facia in matt black, and vented machined aluminium foot pedals.

  • Kahn Land Rover Defender 2.2 TDCI XS 110 Chelsea Wide Track Edition

Kahn-Land-Rover-Defender-Chelsea-Wide-Track-THUMBThis Land RoverDefender has been treated so well that in its current state it looks amazing. The seven-passenger Fungus Green vehicle has been adorned abundantly with a lot of rugged and luxurious amenities that set it apart from the average Defender. First, Chelsea Truck Company has transformed it into a 2.2 TDCI XS 110 Wide Track Edition we haven’t seen before. The team had to rework substantial aspects of the exterior and interior of the SUV in order to make it stand out.

They have begun with the exterior, which is now even more rugged and exclusive than before. Precisely, the front fascia has been entirely changed and now includes a new X-Lander front grille in Fungus Green and Old England White.

They have added also a new bumper with integrated lighting, cross-hair military headlights, bumper sump guard mesh hood vents to help cool the engine. Just like at the front, the rear also got wide wing arches. The roof contrasts to the overall design theme in Old England White.

Next, the tuners have equipped it with a set of commanding 1948 Defend wheels in satin black, which come in the size of 8.0 x 16″ and are fitted with 265x75x16 tyres. Behind the wheels we can see the liquid red painted brake callipers.  The exterior look is rounded out by the twin crosshair exhaust system, 2″ suspension lift, up rated gas shocks/steering damper, welcome ambient illumination package and hard- wearing mud flaps.

While the dark-tinted privacy glass leaves the onlookers guessing what is on the inside, the occupants enjoy a luxury atmosphere. This is where the might of A. Kahn Design can be seen in its full glory. To be more precise, the front and rear seats have been replaced with GTB sport units with quilted and perforated tan nappa leather.

In addition, the centre glove box, passenger dashboard, grab handles, door panel inserts, instrument binnacle, rear door panel, roof headlining and sun visors are also upholstered. The interior also benefits from a Churchill time clock and speedo/rev counter facia in red, alpine satellite navigation system, door entry sill plates, rear cabin access LED lights, reverse camera, Kahn billet steering wheel and vented machined aluminium foot pedals.

What is more, the rear floor space has been substituted with classic teak decking, including a transparent pod for the Alpine stereo amplifier. At last, Kahn branding rounds-out the package.

Ant_Kahn_production_vehicles-THUMBA. Kahn Design has teamed up with Evanta. The name of the newly formed team will be Ant-Kahn and they already have number of projects underway. The result of their collaborative partnership will be a hot-rod Defender and a custom Barchetta. Of course, the focus is on luxury and quality, which will be achieved via modern prototyping and manufacturing technology. At the same time both companies will also focus on the details that are associated with traditional coach building.

Afzal Kahn has revealed that they are already working on their future plans that aim to extend from coach-building to manufacturing series motor vehicles. He promises that number of models will come to fruition in the coming weeks and months.

Ant Anstead on the other hand stated that both British companies will be dedicated to continue building upon the historical excellence of British vehicle manufacture. For him the most important is to step upon and develop the traditions of hand finished coach building.

In the forthcoming months, Ant-Kahn plans to introduce the “Flying Huntsman” vehicle, which is a new take on the classic Land Rover Defender. If you remember, we have already seen this concept car in a sketch form. It will probably include the 6.2 litre V8 powerhouse coupled with a six speed electronic gearbox and will produce around 550 horsepower (404 kW).

After the production of the Huntsman, there will be a release of an Ant-Kahn original. This will be a retro-styled Barchetta that is scheduled to officially debut at the Goodwood Revival motor show. The third car planned to be built is a completely restyled Aston Martin WB12, which will be shown later this year.
