  • 2016 HR-V is the Roomiest Honda in the Range

The all-new 2016 Honda HR-V delivers a one-off styling, sophisticated driving dynamics and a fuel-efficient performance. It is part of the upgraded range of Honda vehicles which adopts the ground-breaking technological approach of the brand. Portraying a distinctive poise and perfectly sculptured lines, the SUV becomes a synonym for automotive greatness!

Regarding its power, the HR-V will be available in the UK with front-wheel drive only and a choice of fuel-efficient 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine that delivers 130 PS and 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engines producing 120 PS. Customers can configure both variants with either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission with paddle-shift available on some versions. Both power units are Euro 6 compliant and are part of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology series.

Outwardly, the new HR-V demonstrates sufficient sporty tone. Its body shape, horizontal-oriented front and rear bumpers, rear window line, revamped headlamps and unified front grille create a sharper and more angular stance. What is more, the design makes the car appear more purposeful. Furthermore, there is a fuel tank integrated under the front seats. It enables the use of the 60:40 split Magic Seats that have several configurations.

Focusing on practicality, Honda provides more than just enough space for travelers. They can take advantage of a class-leading space with leg-, shoulder- and headroom in the front and rear. There is astounding space offered by the boot as well. Its capacity amounts at 453 litres with the rear seats in use, and 1026 litres to the window line with the rear seats folded away. Soft-touch surfaces and a piano-black feature panel put emphasis on the car’s sophisticated presence too. Finally, Honda HR-V is equipped with a 7-inch Honda Connect touchscreen that comes as standard on the Sport and Executive models. A 5-inch touchscreen is available for the entry level variants. There is an Android 4.0.4 operating system run by the OS.

  • 2016 Honda Ridgeline Previewed in Chicago

2015 Chicago Auto Show has already started where a lot of vehicles will have their premiere. We start the day with the announcement that Honda has revealed at the saloon yesterday the first image (sketch) of the future next-gen Ridgeline. The new truck is said to retain the award-winning performance, comfort and utility of the original model, and in fact to bring it to new levels. These new levels will feature entirely new styling that communicates unmistakably that it’s a pickup. At the same time they will still express that this is a Honda.

The next Ridgeline is expected to get into production in a year. So this means that we won’t see a detailed sketch soon. Nevertheless, the rear-three-quarter image that we were given displays some interesting features.

Let’s start with the back of the truck, which, as it is completely visible, has been redesigned. Now, it appears like an “ordinary” pickup that has a separately attached bed. The latter feature is something we haven’t seen in the previous generation of the model.

The sketch also shows that the chassis has been refined and is now more rigid. If you take a closer look you’ll definitely think that the truck looks longer than its predecessor. The tailgate will probably add a split rear-gate feature, which will drop or swing open like a set of doors.

The teaser also displays that the new Ridgeline has curvier lines compared to the previous generation truck. All in all, the 2016 Honda Ridgeline appears to be almost in a production form.

There is no information on the powerplant or any output details. However, there are rumors that the new gen Ridgeline will be equipped with the 3.5-liter V6 unit, producing around or more than 250 horsepower.

  • New Honda Civic Type R Images Reveal Genuine Aggression

Carmakers love playing games with customers who are expecting the new automotive hit. From the release of teaser images and videos to sharing a sentence or two about a certain upcoming vehicle, the teasing just never stops. Now the situation is quite similar with the new Civic Type R. What Honda is doing could be described as an attempt to revive the interest of those who are eagerly waiting to find out more about the car. The company gives just a little but the evoked flow and amount of attention can’t be measured really.

Trying to stay as coy as possible, Honda transforms the presentation of the 2015 Honda Civic Type R into a progressive process and every time we hear something, it adds to the information which we have already received. One thing is for sure, the jigsaw will soon be finished.

While still staying very secretive about the output of the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, Honda confirmed that the new model will come with a top speed of 270km/h (167 mph).

Judging from the pictures, it looks like Honda has tried to build something that will scratch the senses of every driver. The aggressive front bumper is shaped in a way that allows it “to inhibit air turbulence around the front wheels, cutting drag and enhancing high-speed stability.” Additionally, the newly-designed model will be fitted with a front splitter, ventilated front fenders and aerodynamic side skirts. There is going to be a prominent rear wing and underbody panels that transmit air to a sporty – looking rear diffuser.

In order to help the driver deal with the Type R’s monstrous power, the car has a specially – developed high performance Brembo brake package with four-piston calipers and 350 mm drilled discs. Finally, the appearance of the Honda Civic is completed by eye-catching 19-inch alloys which fill the wheel arches and accommodate the larger brakes.

  • More Goodies for 2016 Acura MDX

Acura upgraded significantly the 2016 MDX SUV. The updated luxury vehicle launches in March and it will feature various new features and technologies as well as new powertrain options and an expanded model range. All trim levels will be equipped as a standard with the nine-speed automatic transmission which will assist the 3.5-liter, 24-valve i-VTEC direct-injected V-6 engine. The transmission features Sequential SportShift and is 66 lbs lighter than the previous six-speed automatic.

The shift lever which was previously console-mounted is now replaced with a fully electronic, shift-by-wire gear selector. The driver can select Park, Neutral and Drive modes with the push of a button. Reverse is selected by pulling back on a dedicated switch.

For those who want to manually select gears, Acura kept the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Furthermore, the MDX is also fitted with company’s next-generation Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). It uses lighter weight (by 19 lbs.) twin-clutch rear differential and progressively distributes torque between the front and rear axles, and between the left and right rear wheels.

MDX with Technology Package models can be equipped with the AcuraWatch suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies. These include Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) and Rear Cross Traffic Monitor. In addition, the Advance Package comes as a standard with AcuraWatch.

At the heart of AcuraWatch is the combination of camera and radar technology.

Working together, the camera and radar can sense the roadway and objects within it, including other vehicles and pedestrians, thus helping avoid or mitigate the severity of a collision.

Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning are offered as standard equipment on the MDX with Technology Package. All MDX models come equipped with a Multi-View Rear Camera with Dynamic Guidelines.

Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) uses a Monocular Camera that is mounted on the upper portion of the windshield. It identifies solid or dashed painted lane lines, Botts’ Dots and Cat Eye markers. RDM utilizes both steering force, via EPS, as well as braking force, via VSA, to help the MDX stay a detected lane. Versatile visual and audible warnings alert the driver when the RDM system is taking corrective action.

Rear Cross Traffic Monitor is the next new assistive technology which is featured in the AcuraWatch. RCTM works in conjunction with the Blind Spot Information (BSI) radar sensors. Both improve driver’s confidence when parking.

Next, the 2016 MDX also adds frameless rearview mirror, Siri Eyes Free voice recognition and an easy-entry/exit driver’s seat that moves 35 mm rearward when the driver’s door is opened. There is also a TPMS fill assist that applies audible alert in the case when the driver inflates the tire to the correct pressure.

2016 Acura MDX has a starting of $42,865 USD.

  • McLaren and Honda Ready to Make History with MP4-30 [VIDEO]

McLaren–Honda has just exclusively revealed their new racing car, dubbed MP4-30. The car is going to compete in the upcoming 2015 FIA Formula One (F1) World Championship. It is driven by the newly developed 1.6 litre V6 engine (RA615H) developed by Honda. The MP4-30 is an important first step as McLaren and Honda progress towards their strong partnership and evokes heavy weight of expectations of writing a fresh chapter in Formula 1.

As a matter of fact, it has been 22 years since McLaren and Honda last raced together. Back then they formed nearly an unbeatable partnership that dominated Formula 1 in the 1980s and ’90s.

In the video below you can take a close look at the brand-new MP4-30 chassis. You can also discover how Honda and McLaren’s racing DNA links this car to one of its most illustrious forebears, the 1991’s McLaren-Honda MP4/6.

Another interesting fact about this car is that it has the only chassis on the grid which is fitted with Honda’s RA615H Hybrid power unit. It also features an evolved colour scheme. In addition, the car has been aerodynamically refined and the result is pretty obvious: an elegant car with a refined nose-box solution and a slimmed rear-end packaging. Oh, we forgot the incorporation of the new power unit under its tightly contoured bodywork.

  • 2016 Honda Pilot Teases With Revamped Silhouette

Honda announced that the all-new Honda Pilot will make its premiere at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show next month. To spice things up a bit, the automaker also revealed a rendering of the new vehicle.

2016 Honda Pilot is said to be completely reworked in order to bring optimized comfort, and hopefully less awkward and ugly design. Being able to offer seats for up to eight people, the new model obviously focuses on comfort, flexibility and spaciousness. It is true that “graceful” is not a word that can be used to describe the previous Pilot but this time around, the automaker promises to give us something better, different and more attractive.

As you can see from the teaser image, the silhouette seems to be more flowing and not as sharp as what’s come before. Hopefully this time the sweeping lines and not so pointy angles will help the new model stand out from the growing crowds of crossovers.

Apart from the picture, Honda hasn’t revealed any other specific details about the new Honda Pilot. Nevertheless, the crossover is expected to receive a V6 3.5-liter direct-injection engine as well as a pack of the latest and most advanced technologies. An estimated output is that of around 310 bhp (231 kW).

More information is yet to be revealed. Meanwhile you can check out 2015 Honda Pilot Special Edition and 2012 Honda Pilot and see if you can compare them to what we have of the upcoming model.

  • Salute the Next-Gen Acura NSX! [VIDEO]

Acura has finally taken the wraps off its icon, the 2016 NSX supercar, at the North American International Auto Show. Twenty-five years after the debut of the original model, the new NSX comes to make a huge shift in our understanding of sports cars! The production model comes in shiny red finish and is driven by a twin-turbocharged 75-degree DOHC V6 engine mated to nine-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) and three-electric motor Sport Hybrid system. All of this is imbibed in rigid and lightweight multi-material body.

The iconic car has been developed under the concept of a “human-centered supercar”. This means that it puts the driver first in every aspect of its design. Next to the hybrid power unit, the body and chassis deliver exceptionally intuitive and immediate response to driver inputs.

The body of this fantastic car has low and wide proportions coupled with contemporary and aggressive front design and tail lights. Every element of the exterior has been optimized and modified with the aim of perfection, including the hood vents, front fender vents, side air intakes, and the deck spoiler.

When it was introduced for the first time, the NSX was world’s first all-aluminum supercar. The new NSX includes an innovative new multi-material body design with world’s-first material applications and construction processes.

To be more precise, the body uses a space frame design. This is an internal frame constructed of aluminum, ultra-high strength steel and other advanced materials. Anchored by a carbon fiber floor, torsional and bending forces are taken up entirely by this structure. The body panels are composed of a combination of aluminum and sheet molding composite.

Inside, the NSX offers exceptional forward visibility, simplicity and intuitiveness in terms of controls, and exceptional ergonomics. The instrument cluster features a dynamic TFT display, while the center console holds the Power button that readies the sport hybrid powertrain.

What is more, the supercar utilizes a fully independent, all-aluminum front and rear suspension. It puts its significant amount of power down through ContiSportContact high-performance tires. They come in dimensions of 245/35Z R19 at the front and 295/30Z R20 at the rear, and are coupled with 19×8.5 inch front and 20×11 inch rear aluminum alloy wheels.

The braking performance is provided by 6-piston front and 4-piston rear monoblock calipers squeezing ultra-high performance carbon-ceramic brake discs. Handling is greatly improved by Sport Hybrid Super-Handling All Wheel Drive (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD), which enables lightning-quick response to all driver inputs.

2016 Acura NSX has been specifically created to bring a “new sports experience” to the supercar segment. It challenges conventional beliefs about supercars that we have. Acura will begin accepting custom orders for the new NSX in the summer, while the first customer deliveries are expected later in the year.

  • Predictive Safety Cruise Control System by Honda

Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (i-ACC) is the world’s first predictive cruise control system which is going to be introduced by Honda. Its debut will be on the European market Honda CR-V this year.

After studying how drivers in Europe perform, the Honda team of professionals created a ground-breaking system which uses a camera and a millimeter wave radar to monitor the position of other vehicles on the road. Thanks to the application of a specially developed algorithm, the i-ACC is able to predict the likelihood of vehicles in neighboring lanes, thus allowing the equipped vehicle to have a quicker, safer and more comfortable reaction in case the other vehicle cuts in from a neighboring lane.

Honda states that “traditional ACC systems keep a preselected longitudinal velocity, which is only reduced for maintaining a safe distance to a car in front. However, if a vehicle cuts-in from a neighboring lane, the traditional ACC system reacts later thus requiring stronger braking.”

In addition to this, it takes exactly five seconds for the new Honda Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control system to detect the possibility of such cut-in before it actually occurs. Moreover, the system is designed in a manner which enables it to respond very smoothly without alarming the driver, who still might not be aware of the upcoming cut-in. In a situation like this one, the i-ACC system uses a mild brake, with an icon showing up on the driver display. It informs the driver why a slow-down happens. After this instant warning, it applies a stronger brake to adapt the speed so that the vehicle can keep a safe distance.

  • 2015 Honda CR-V Gets New Powertrain and New Technology

Bolder and sportier than ever, the new 2015 Honda CR-V comes with a refreshed style, enhanced engine line-up and new technologies all of which contribute to the remarkable road presence of the car.

Thanks to the new 1.6-litre i-DTEC four-cylinder diesel engine, from Honda’s Earth Dreams Technologyseries, the power of the four-wheel drive CR-V is boosted to 160 PS while the maximum torque is that of 350 Nm. There is a choice of two transmissions: a six-speed manual that produces a class-leading sub 130g/km of CO2 emissions, or a new nine-speed automatic transmission. The latter emits less than 135 g/km of CO2.

The two-wheel drive diesel CR-V is powered by the 120 PS 1.6 litre i-DTEC engine with emissions as low as 115 g/km. Nevertheless, the 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which develops 155 PS is still available.

Some of the most visible alterations are seen on the front due to the restyled headlamps flowing into the new grille. What is more, the appearance of the CR-V is further improved thanks to the new bumper and skid plate. The LED combination lamps at the rear have been reworked too and now provide the 2015 Honda CR-V with “a more fluid, three-dimensional appearance.”

In terms of technology, European buyers will take advantage of the first use of Honda Connect which represents the company‘s innovative new app-driven infotainment system. It includes: internet access, nine pre-installed apps – as well as access to the Honda App Center – optional Garmin satellite navigation, audio display, AM/FM/DAB and internet radio, phone interface and Bluetooth connectivity. Finally, it offers a rear-view parking camera with functional guidelines, as well as vehicle information like trip meter, fuel economy and journey time.
