2017 Honda Civic Type R Hatchback Prototype Render in Blue 2017 Honda Civic Type R Hatchback Prototype was revealed in the famous Civic CivicX.com forum. The pictures have been created by the digital artist Damian, who has been inspired after seeing the recently released spy shots of the car. What Damian has done is to peel off the camouflage wrapping of the next Type R. The result is spectacular and we couldn’t help but publish it straight away.As CivicX says, the spy photos were ‘deciphered’ and they depict Type R’s lines and styling elements as they are going to be in production form. In fact, the result is said to be extremely close to what the production car is going to look like.

Very intriguing seems to be the new front fenders, which let us think that they could be used to draw hot air from the engine. Or should they provide extra cooling for the rubbers? Spy shots of the car also suggest that it has 3-outlet exhaust. So, are we going to expect more loudly sound coming from it? Well, we should have to wait until the production release and then to press the +R button to get the real impression.2017 Honda Civic Type R Hatchback Prototype Spy Shot And how about the output? Of course, everything has been kept in secret but we definitely expect to see more horsepower in comparison to Type R’s current one. Speaking of which, it comes out from a 4-cyllinder 2.0 litre VTEC TURBO engine, producing 310 hp (228 kW) at 6,500 rpm and torque of 400 Nm (303 lb-ft) at 2,500 rpm. And considering the fact that this is Honda’s best-selling vehicle, this latest Civic model deserves some attention.

The new Civic will be created at the Honda plant in Greensburh Indiana and will feature the latest turbo engine which is exclusively created at Anna plant, Ohio.

2016 Honda Civic Sedan Touring Side View

To get into details about new Civic’s design, we must note that the athletic stance of the car is due to its lower and wider proportions. Compared to the current generation of the model, the new one is 2 inches wider and 1 inch lower. Its wheelbase is 1.2-inch longer and features more compact and sporty front overhang as well as longer hood and fastback-style tail.

Refined design details put the necessary highlight on the appearance. Take for instance the sleek and swept-back bodylines, sharp and aggressive face and the pronounced wheel arches. Precisely, Civic Sedan LX and EX trims will be powered by a 2.0-liter, 16-valve, DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder unit, which will be mated to either a 6-speed manual (LX trim) or continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

On the other hand, the EX-T, EX-L and Touring trims will be driven by a 1.5-liter, direct-injected and turbocharged 16-valve DOHC inline-4, mated to a unique CVT. By the way, the new 1.5-liter powerplant is the first turbocharged engine on a U.S. Honda model. Both engines promise to be performance oriented and at the same time efficient. • Honda Civic Tourer Took One More Trophy!

    Honda Civic Tourer

Honda’s Guinness world record for “lowest fuel consumption” is already a reality! And the tough guy this time is Honda Civic Tourer 1.6 i-DTEC. Do you remember, when we told you about Honda’s ambition to drive through all the European countries in order to demonstrate the efficiency of the vehicle? Yes? Well, it is already over. And the car with both the teammates are now home, celebrating the wonderful achievement.

Let us remind you, that Honda team had the ambition to create one of the most efficient powerplants today and to demonstrate it. How? By going throughout all the European countries and driving about 375 miles a day, for about 7.5 hours a day. The result? 1.6 i-DTEC recorded an average of 100.31 miles per gallon over 8, 387 miles in a 25 day drive across all the 24 EU countries.

As you might remember, behind the wheel of the already famous Honda Civic Tourer were the two members of Honda’s European Research & Development (R&D) team, Fergal McGrath and Julian Warren. In fact, these two gentlemen were with the highest ambitions to demonstrate what the 1.6 i-DTEC is capable of.

    Honda Civic Tourer

The team started the efficient journey from Aalst, Belgium on June, 1st and started the trip with a clockwise direction. They returned from where they have started on June, 25th. What they have recorded is exceeded efficiency of 74.3 mpg, which is more than 25%. Incredible, isn’t it?

SEE ALSO: Honda Team Heads Up for A World Record

Along with the strict rules of Guinness World Records organization, the team had to drive without any modifications or upgrades, or anything else, that will be considered as ‘lowering the toughness’ of the trip. There was even a rule, that the team had to refill the tank to the maximum every time, or else, it will be considered as a weight loss and sort of cheating. In fact, the whole idea was to show the original and unmodified vehicle in action.

    Honda Civic Tourer

Furthermore, Fergal McGrath and Julian Warren are not professional drivers, achieved some additional economy with simple, yet effective tricks. They didn’t drive aggressively, of course, they planned well their trip and they were anticipating and taking seriously the road conditions.

So, what else can we say? Congratulations to the brave team, Fergal McGrath and Julian Warren and the whole Honda crew, who are still working hard to deliver us the most comfortable, efficient and flexible vehicles.

  • Honda Team Heads Up for A World Record

Honda is ready to put a world record with its super-efficient 1.6 i-DTEC engine. The test will put the machine on a 8, 5000 mile drive across 24 EU countries with the single purpose to demonstrate the incredible fuel efficiency.

On the 1st of June this year, a team will drive the Honda Civic Tourer and will go for a special journey, starting from Aalst, Belgium. The team will come back 28 days later and will drive exactly 8, 459 miles.

The rules of the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS will make the two drivers Fergal McGrath and Julian Warren sit in the car for about 7.5 kilometers a day in order to drive 370 miles a day. the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title is “Lowest Fuel Consumption – All 24 contiguous EU countries”. Furthermore, the rules require the driving team to enter each of the 24 countries and collect numerous evidences for doing it as  fuel logbooks, GPS readings, vide, photos and more. If the tour happens to be a successful one, every model from the Civic Tourer lineup will be counted as successfully passed the test. Even the hybrid and electric models.

And of course, to ensure accurate monitoring on the track, the car will be geared with a special tracking device, that will provide information about the journey in real-time, so everyone, who is interested in the attempt can easily track the vehicle.

Further requirements are, that the vehicle must be with its stock package and without any further upgrades or tweaks, that will give any advantage over any unrevised model. And to evade some “unfairness”, the vehicle will be filled to the max with fuel, every time the team stops to refill.

We wish the team luck and a special occasion for celebration! It will be good for all the Civic drivers out there to know, that they are driving a car, that broke a fuel efficiency record!

  • Take a Look at this Coupe-Inspired Honda Civic Type R

2017 Honda Civic Type R Coupe RenderThis Honda will be praised or it will be hated, there is no interstitial opinion. The Type R coupe rendering has been a result of the work of Wild Speed, but we found it at CivicX forum, where people actually loved it. The renderings are only two (unfortunately), but they are so exquisitely made that it looks like a real car. We only wish!

It is obvious that this Type R version is a consequence of the recently released Civic Coupe concept shown in New York. As a matter of fact, the company is actually launching the redesigned versions of the Civic range this fall.

The happy news is that the tenth-generation model will keep the great performance characteristics and fantastic design, with sedan, coupe, hatch and Si models featured in the line-up. Oh, and of course the irresistible Type R.

Let’s focus on the car we see here. It has more aggressive body, new quad exhaust system which is obviously borrowed by Chevy’s Stingray, and some other typical Type R accents here and there.

If we take for granted that this car would have the output of the current generation, then this means that its unit will produce is 310 hp (228 kW) at 6,500 rpm, and 400 Nm (303 lb-ft) at 2,500 rpm. The 0-to-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration sprint will be covered in just 5.7 seconds on the way to a top speed of 270 km/h (167 mph).

As a Type R fan, I personally love it, but I wonder what your thoughts about it are?

  • Tenth-Gen Civic Previewed via Concept Version at NYIAS

Honda Civic Concept Side ViewHonda Civic Concept is so hot that it could only be revealed at the New York Auto Show. The company is actually preparing to launch the redesigned versions of the Civic range this fall. The tenth-generation cars will keep the great performance characteristics and fantastic design. In the lineup, Honda will feature a sedan, coupe and Si model. Oh, and of course, my two favourites: the hatchback and Type R.

The cars will be built on a longer wheelbase. As we can see from the pictures of the concept it is obvious that it stands also lower to the ground and has this wider stance. Precisely, the hood is longer, while the front overhang and rear deck are shorter.

The aggressive look of the car is further strengthened by the prominent fender arches and the new wheel-to-body relationship. At the front we see new LEDs on the both sides of the “Flying H” grille. The latter is supported by deeply sculpted lower air intakes.

The next big thing about the new Civic is that it will be powered by the 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo engine from the Earth Dreams Technology series. The unit includes direct injection and is linked to either a six-speed manual transmission or an efficient continuously variable transmission (CVT). In this way more efficiency is guaranteed, right?

In terms of safety, the Civic concept and all its future siblings will be equipped with Honda Sensing suite. It is filled with advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies like the Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Multi-Angle Rearview Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control and Honda LaneWatch.

All in all, this concept tells me that the new Civic range will have even more to expect, and I am pretty excited about it. How about you?

  • Honda fans Celebrate Civic Type R at Nürburgring [VIDEO]

Honda Civic Type R Side and Rear View One of my most favorite debuts at this year’s Geneva Motor Show was the last generation Honda Civic Type R. In order to celebrate its release, the Japanese company decided to invite fans to the Nürburgring circuit. This is where the Type R has set a lap record for a front-wheel drive hot hatch. This is also where the red badged Civic drivers are offered the chance to attend the historic ADAC Zurich 24-hour sports car race in their Type Rs.

The even will happen between 15 and 17 May and will feature (for the first time ever) the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) race. It will be held on both Nordschleife and Grand Prix circuits that measure 25 kilometers, combined. The most important individuals in the team will be Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro, who will aim at no less than victory.

What is more, the one-off event will offer Type R fans the opportunity to purchase a three-day package, including VIP entrance with paddock access, camping accommodation in a special souvenir tent, food and beverages, and most importantly the chance to meet the drivers in person and visit the pit lane by taking their Civic on a lap around the circuit. This of course will happen before the start of the 24 hour race.
