  • The wait is over: 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback has been finally revealed!

2017 Honda Civic Hatchback side view

    Looking better than ever before!

The new model year Honda Civic Hatchback is set to arrive in the U.S. dealers this September! How exciting is that!? When this happens, the model will be the latest variant joining the renewed 10-generation line-up. Besides the striking Type R inspired appearance, the new version of the hatch will offer the convenience of five-doors, Civic’s renowned driving dynamics and company’s direct-injected turbo engine technology.

More importantly, this is the first time in these ten generations, when the Civic will be launched throughout the Unites States in its Hatchback form. So this is really big news! Since this is the sad reality, I’m sure that Americans will now plunge into the experience of driving this kind of car.

For the U.S. market the hatch will be offered in several trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Sport and Sport Touring. The first three trims will be powered by the 1.5-liter DOHC direct-injected turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder engine, which produces 174 horsepower (128 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb.-ft.) of torque. Even better, the latter two trims will be available with the same unit but uprated to 180 horsepower (132 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb.-ft.) of torque. Both trims will also feature high-flow center-mounted exhaust.

2017 Honda Civic Hatchback rear view

Not surprising at all is that the powerplant will be linked to either the CVT or the performance-inspired 6-speed manual transmission. Honda has also announced some preliminary details about the anticipated EPA fuel economy ratings: they are expected to be of 31/40/34 mpg (city/highway/combined) for CVT models.

Other Civic Hatch’s qualities are the lightweight body, updated chassis, independent suspension system with liquid filled bushings as well as the sport-tuned electronic power steering. There is of course more, which I’ll save for the original market debut. Well, just to tease you a bit, the new Civic will sport the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies.

But besides the market debut of the 2017 Civic Hatchback in the U.S., what’s even better is that the model will serve as the basis for the exhilarating new Civic Type-R launch next year.

  • Honda introduces Civic RS Turbo Modulo variant, but there’s one unfortunate fact for all fans

Honda Civic RS Turbo Modulo side view

We have some sad news for all Honda Civic fans living in Europe and the United States. There is a brand new RS Turbo version currently going on sale in the Philippines. It is called Modulo and it not only looks great but we are sure that it feels fantastic driving it, too! The pack enhances the strength that the Civic has and further highlights its aggressive and sporty appearance.

To make you even more envious, the car will come with two engine variants. The first one, the optional, and it is the naturally-aspirated 1.8-litre unit, which is producing some whooping 141 HP (104 kW) and 171 Nm (126 lb-ft) of torque. The standard one is more powerful in terms of horses and torque, namely – the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo engine with 173 horsepower (127 kW) and 216 Nm (159 lb-ft) of torque. A CVT (continuously variable transmission) is sending the power to the front wheels in both cases.

The Modulo body kit emphasizes the innate beauty of the new generation Civic. What we have here are new front splitters, bigger side skirts and wider rear valance. New top-ends for the exhaust’s twin tailpipes are also at hand. The car runs on 17-inch wheels in either matt black or polished silver. Everything is rounded out by the Modulo badge at the front as well as the new tread plates.

Honda Civic RS Turbo Modulo costs approximately $30,000 USD. And if you wonder why it is so costly, there’s this little fact that’s called “taxes”, which seem to be extremely high in the Philippines.

  • 2015 Honda Civic Type R proves itself worthy at Europe’s most famous race tracks

2015 Honda Civic Type RHonda’s so-called “race car for the road”, the Civic Type R, has made some notable achievements at five legendary tracks in Europe.

In fact, Honda team itself is inspired by the Civic Type R and its European dominance and the impeccable results at the Nürburgring Nordschleife back in May, 2014 and created a new challenge for the Type R.

The high-speed campaign started on a rainy day in April at Silverstone, where the Three-time British Touring Car Championship winner Matt Neal took the wheel and set time of 2 minutes and 44.45 seconds. In fact, not content with this time, Matt and his fellow team members decided to have another shot at the track and a month later they scored a lap time of 2 minutes and 31.85 seconds. Sweet.

Then, in early May, Honda team decided to have a try at the Spa-Franhorchamps circuit in Belgium. The well-known track, loved by many, was taken by Honda Racing member Rob Huff. He managed to set a time of 2 minutes and 56.91 seconds.

After that, the team made to successful attempts at Italy’s Monza circuit. A Honda team member from WTTC squat, Norbert Michelisz tamed the beast and hit a time of 2 minutes and 15.16 seconds.

And before the last step at the Hugaroring, the Honda squad went to the historic Estoril with Tiago Monteiro for a ride. Sadly, there was a dramatic crash at the WTCC Race of Germany that put the Honda ace out of action, but just a day later, Bruno Correia, a well-known Portuguese racer scored a time of 2 minutes and 4.08 seconds.

  • Honda Adds New Sport Variant to the Civic Lineup

Honda Civic Sport Front ViewHonda has launched a brand new Sport variant to the popular Civic family. Precisely, the 1.4 i-VTEC Civic Sport will become the entry level product in the range, and will hit the UK showrooms next month. Yes, this is a brand new 1.4-litre petrol engine variant, which will accompany the 1.6-litre, 120 PS diesel unit and the 1.8-litre, 142 PS petrol engine in the line-up.

As you can see on the couple of pictures in the gallery below, the model has been styled more sporty and aggressively than the family hatchback. By the way, it seems that the design of this variant is closer to this of Type R!

Some of the styling cues that both models share, include color-coded rear spoiler and 17-inch alloys wheels, lower grille mesh and a black roof lining for the cabin. Therefore it is very easy to mistaken the Civic Type R with the Civic Sport, due to those design characteristics.

The advanced 1.4-litre i-VTEC SOHC (single overhead camshaft) is mated as a standard to a manual transmission. • Honda Previews Next-Gen Civic Hatchback with Geneva-Bound Prototype

Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype Front ViewHonda Civic Hatchback Prototype is being exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show, which started today. The car previews the next-generation Civic hatchback that heralds a significant step-change from the predecessors of Honda’s core model. If the design stays the same in the production model we will be in awe, for it is provocative design and rewarding driving dynamics. But we will have to wait until 2017, when the next-gen Civic Hatch will be introduced.

    The Design

We all love Honda Civic Hatchback for its distinctive and sporty design. From what we see from the prototype, it takes it to the next level, making it sportier than ever. Another important detail, which contributes for the aforementioned fact is that the new production Civic will be 30 mm wider, 20 mm lower and 130 mm longer than the current generation. Bigger body usually means larger wheels, and this principle has been kept here. The wider wheels and tires speak of more aggressive stance, while the long wheelbase, short overhangs and sleek cabin area aid the dynamic exterior design.

At the back we also see a bumper, which incorporates angular creases and vents.
