  • Rolls-Royce Canton Glory Ghost Special Edition – Two Units

Rolls-Royce is going to bring a Canton Glory Ghost Special Edition at the 2013 Auto Guangzhou in China.

This latest Bespoke model is designed as a tribute to the city of Guangzhou, combining legendary heritage and glorious modernity with the pedigree of the British car brand. The powerful, newly-released Wraith completed the stunning line-up at the show, along with a Bespoke Phantom, which showcased the enthusiastic participation of local customers in the Bespoke Personalisation Programme.

Only two cars were made and both of them boast a two-tone exterior finish combining Madeira Red with either Carrera White or Cassiopeia Silver. There are also Guangzhou’s Five Rams logo on the dashboard, headrests, coachline and veneer panels.

“Bespoke is about fulfilling each owner’s wish for exclusivity and creativity. Working under the guiding principle that ‘The Only Limit is Your Imagination,’ Bespoke allows owners to express themselves and create designs to their own unique tastes. These designs are then made a reality by the skilled craftsmen of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood.”, commented Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer, Director of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Region China.

  • Rolls-Royce Ghost Golden Sunbird Unveiled On Facebook

Rolls-Royce-Ghost-Golden-Sunbird-THUMBThe one-off Rolls-Royce Ghost Golden Sunbird has just been unveiled on the official Facebook page of the luxury company. Being a true Rolls-Royce it includes many bespoke motifs which in this case were inspired by the excellent craftsmanship found in an ancient Chinese artefact.

The design of this unique model features all hand-made embroidery, veneers and coachline motif. The colours of the paint, interior and golden treadplates complement the Sunbird and make it even more exquisite.

The exterior is decided in two colors – white and golden, in order to match the design concept. The same philosophy is applied to the nine spoke wheels at thee center of which we can see the brand’s logo enclosed by a golden circle. This two-tone design manner is continued throughout the interior, although the predominant color here is the golden-brownish one.

This Rolls-Royce Ghost is powered by 6.6 litre V12 engine which produces 563 hp (414 kW) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque. The time this car needs to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h is only 4.7 seconds and the top speed is 155 mph.

  • 25th BMW International Open: Ernie Els and Rolls-Royce Ghost

Rolls-Royce Ghost was launched in 2009 and has been the epitome of elegance, dynamics and technological progress. Captivating in every way, this remarkable car allowed Ernie Els (South Africa) to travel to the 25th BMW International Open.

Although Els himself owns an impressive fleet of cars, the outing in the Rolls-Royce Ghost was a first for the four-time Major winner. Having landed at Munich airport in his private jet, Els’s route took him past Munich’s striking squares and landmarks, including Leopoldstrasse and the famous Siegestor (Victory Gate), before he arrived at the Chinese Tower. There, Els met up with a further six players from the high-class field at the 25th BMW International Open to take part in the “Tee Time” show event in the English Garden.

    Rolls-Royce Ghost is powered by a 6.6 liter twin-turbocharged V12 (N74B66) with 570HP (419 kW) at 5,250RPM and 780Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque at 1,500RPM. The engine is mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox – 0-100 km/h in 4.7 Seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Check out the interview with Ernie below!

Ernie, the reigning Open Champion at the wheel of a British Icon: is that a perfect combination?

Ernie Els: “Absolutely. Rolls-Royce is a unique brand, which speaks for itself. That is something it definitely has in common with the Open, which is the biggest of the four Majors. In that sense, they really suit each other very well.”

The feeling of driving a Rolls-Royce is often described as a “magic carpet ride”. Did you feel like you were on a magic carpet?

Els: “Yes, it really does feel like that. Magic is precisely the right word. It is simply fantastic. I have driven a lot of cars over the course of my life, but never a Rolls-Royce. I was actually a bit nervous about driving it. Rolls-Royce is obviously a big status symbol. If you can afford to buy a Rolls-Royce, you have obviously done something right with your life.”

The BMW International Open is still missing from the long list of tournaments you have won. Will that change in 2013?

Els: “I have always liked München Eichenried. I have been playing here since 1997. Unfortunately I don’t know why the other guys have always played better here than me. I have often had problems on the odd hole. That said, I love the course and the city.”

Why are BMW tournaments held in such high regard on the Tour?

Els: “Tournament Director Marco Kaussler has a wealth of experience when it comes to organising the tournament, and does a fantastic job. The way he looks after the players is sensational. The fact that we all feel so happy here is largely down to him. But you could say the same for everyone at BMW – and you really feel that as a player.”

Do you like Germany and, in particular, the host city of Munich?

Els: “I have not seen all that much of Germany or Munich over the course of my career. In recent years I have been out to some restaurants in the evening, but don’t ask me which ones. Unfortunately we never see enough of the cities, as we spend most of our time at the golf course. However, I am impressed by what I have seen of Munich. It is a beautiful and very clean city, which is very popular among South African tourists. I am sure I will come over for Oktoberfest one day.”

  • Rolls-Royce Wraith Makes Italian Debut By Lake Como

RR-Wraith-Italia-ThumbRolls-Royce Wraith just made its Italian debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza, Villa d’Este in Cernobbio. The Wraith model is the boldest and most powerful Rolls-Royce ever produced. The two-door luxury coupé with fastback design promises to deliver extraordinary power and style.

To be more precise, the vehicle is equipped with a twin-turbo V12 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic ZF transmission. The unit is capable of generating 624 bhp (465kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque from 1500 rpm. This delivers an instant acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h for just 4.4 seconds.

As a matter of fact, Wraith was inspired by grand Italian and British fastback designs from the 1930s, but it of course makes a step further. Every inch of this Rolls-Royce is refined and luxurious. Therefore it delivers the comfort one would expect from the pinnacle brand.

Moreover, the new Rolls-Royce Wraith is equipped with wide range of exclusive technologies. For instance, the Satellite Aided Transmission processes GPS data to predict the driver’s next move. It operates by automatically choosing the correct gear for the road ahead. There is also included a one-touch call button akin to an on-board valet. It allows navigation, telephone and multimedia to be controlled via voice.

Throughout the interior can be seen the prominent utilization of the finest materials. Canadel Panelling – a tactile, open grain wood sweeps round the lower hull of Wraith’s interior. Next, a Starlight Headliner rounds-off the glamour. It bathes cabin in a warm glow via its thousands of tiny fibre-optic lamps hand-woven into the roof-lining.

At Lake Como was the stage where the Wraith made its official debut in Italy. There were also presented past, present and future Rolls-Royce cars. Another highlight at the event was the Silver Ghost, which was driven by Radley to victory in the Alpine Trials 100 years ago in Austria, Italy and Switzerland.

In addition, both vehicles were accompanied by the Ghost Alpine Trial Centenary Collection model. The latter was designed in order to celebrate the centenary of the Alpine Trials and Bespoke personalization.

  • Rolls-Royce Alpine Trial Centenary Collection Pays Tribute To Brand’s Heritage

Rolls-Royce-Alpine-Trial-Centenary-THUMBAt 2013 Auto China a very special celebration will take place. Rolls-Royce Motor Company will mark the 100 years anniversary of the moment when Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts embarked on the Austrian Alpine Trials. The latter was one of the toughest tests of automotive endurance of that time.

The car performed literally without fault over 1820 grueling miles and cemented brand’s reputation for peerless reliability and mechanical excellence. Since then, the Silver Ghosts is considered as one of the best cars in the world.

Now, a century after this emblematic historical event, the British luxury company is launching the Rolls-Royce Alpine Trial Centenary Collection. Here for the first time, a Bespoke model has been built on the inspiration left from a heritage Rolls-Royce.

This limited edition Ghost includes design features which are paying tribute to the 1913 Alpine Trials cars. For instance, the exterior paint takes close inspiration from Radley’s Silver Ghost as well as the distinct black grille and wheels.

In addition, the cabin plays host to Bespoke details that tell the story of the Alpine Trial. Here, the clock displays the stages of the rally and timings, whilst inlays to rear picnic tables and the front fascia express the topography and distances of the Alpine route.

What is more, a hand-painted coachline reminds of the four Rolls-Royces that took part in the rally and headlining, colour-matched to the hood of Radley’s car rounds-off the beautiful car. A lot of attention to the details has been paid and all of the parts were hand-crafted.

  • 2012 Paris Motor Show: Rolls-Royce Art Deco range

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars proudly presents a selection of Ghost and Phantom family cars that celebrate the Art Deco era. The highly bespoke Phantom Series II Saloon, Phantom Series II Drophead Coupé and Ghost models were unveiled at the Paris Motor Show 2012, in homage to the 1925 Paris Exhibition or Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes that gave the movement its name.

Phantom Saloon’s black and arctic white interior hints at the visual language of the movement while a suite of Art Deco-inspired interior detailing points to the creativity, skill and attention to detail employed by Rolls-Royce craftspeople.

Hand-fashioned stainless steel inlays in telephone drawer, door cappings and rear picnic table backs subtly evoke the decorative style of the period. An echo of the rich heritage of the marque also lies in the Art Deco-style geometric coachline pattern – a design conceived and used by Rolls-Royce on a show stand at Olympia in the early 20th century.

The elegant simplicity of Ghost is presented in two-tone, Jubilee Silver atop Cobalto Blue, whilst the interior features intricately designed and crafted marquetry in front and rear. A Phantom Series II Drophead Coupé furnished in resplendent mother of pearl onlays gracefully completes the show line-up.

“In Paris we have elegantly captured the essence of one of the great periods in 20th century design,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “These Art Deco-inspired motor cars stand as a testament to the breadth of the Rolls-Royce bespoke offering, reinforcing the marque’s position as the world’s leading manufacturer of luxury goods.”

An exclusive collection of Bespoke Phantom Series II Saloon and Ghost family cars, inspired by the Art Deco cars at Paris, will be made available to Rolls-Royce clients.

For Phantom Series II customers, exterior colours will be offered in Infinity Black, Arabian Blue, Powder Blue or Arctic White, and feature a bespoke, twin coach line with an Art Deco motif. An illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy, hinting at ornamental glassware of the day, completes the exterior detailing. Inside Phantom’s coach doors, touches like Art Deco headrest embroidery, bespoke inlays on piano black veneer and tread plates sporting Art Deco motif further reference the style of the period.

Ghost Art Deco collection cars are finished in either Infinity Black or Arctic White with dual bespoke coach line and illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy. Interior styling includes handcrafted Art Deco inlays, as well as Olympia-inspired motif on tread plates and headrest embroidery. A black and white interior scheme featuring a choice of four seat piping colours takes inspiration from the colour palette of the era.

“For over a century a Rolls-Royce motor car has taken inspiration from the prevailing style of its time whilst retaining the marque’s unique design aesthetic,” added Giles Taylor, Design Director, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “Art Deco was defined by theatre, glamour and a sense of excitement. Working to create contemporary interpretations of these classic themes has been enormously rewarding for everyone in my bespoke design team.”

Akin to the artisans of what is sometimes called high Art Deco, only the very finest materials are employed and painstakingly crafted in every model leaving the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England. Exquisite cashmere and finest leather combine to create an interior ambience that cossets passenger and driver in hallmark Rolls-Royce luxury.

Specially sourced wood veneers, selected for richness and complexity of grain, are adorned with mother of pearl or silver inlays – the form and structure of the pieces reminiscent of the fine cabinet making so prevalent in the Art Deco period.

  • Rolls Royce Ghost by A.Kahn Design

Kahn-Rolls-Royce-Ghost-thumbHere’s a Kahn Rolls Royce Ghost modified in ways you would least expect it to be. Yes, this particular one is all dressed up in a shadow line finish and riddled with subtle styling features that make a difference. But the most substantial change is underneath. And sadly, I’m not talking about the engine.

Let’s start from the top. The side indicators are now clear, the headlights have surrounds, the tail ones as well, the windows also…apparently and there’s some underfloor lighting. Four 9.5 x 22-inch Kahn Silver Mist Rolls Royce wheels complement the overall Kahn look. One still gets Rolls Royce’s original emblazoned center cap however. All and all, not ground braking work this, but enough to give the Ghost some character so that it fits the Kahn philosophy about not submitting to uniformity and striving for perfection.

The thing about this Rolls Royce is that it offers a great deal more security than the standard one. Although one can only guess by the appearance, all the glassware is bullet resistant. It’s an optional extra that comes with armor reinforced body shell underneath. We are not sure if that takes a toll on the Ghost’s 6.6L twin-turbocharged V12, 563 bhp engine and even if it does, a few extra kilos won’t maim it, right? In fact, at Kahn claim that the technology used in making all the bullet proof glasses results in an overall lighter construction. That’s a bold statement.

What goes inside the Ghost is up to the customer. For example, instead of reclining separate seats at the back, one can have a single sofa bench which greatly improves the interior atmosphere. When it comes to color – whatever fits best.

The exterior of the vehicle is finished in Infinity Black, with a Cassiopeia Silver upper two-tone. In addition the “Geneva Ghost” included an interior design scheme that perfectly reflects the two-tone theme. In details, seashell headlining and sumptuous black leather frame the black stained ash veneer into which steel pinstripes have been added. What makes the interior even more luxurious are the lambswool floor mats. The second upper two-tone Rolls-Royce Ghost, has striking colour scheme in Baynunah Brown, with Arizona Sun colour bathing the car’s bonnet, window surrounds, roof and luggage compartment. A gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy and double coach-line in gold completes the design.
