  • Gemballa Racing 2012 McLaren MP4-12C GT3 – Price €350,000

The high-performance Gemballa Racing 2012 McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is already available for sale. Actually, just two units can be bought from jameslist.com. The price is sensational – €350,000 as the car itself.

McLaren produced only 25 units for this year and only two of them are carefully tuned by Gemballa Racing. These versions come with 608HP (447 kW) twin-turbocharged 3.8 liter V8. 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of over 300 km/h (186 mph).

Some of the upgrades include a bespoke racing gearbox, carbon safety cell, race front splitter, large fixed rear wing, optimised air vents at the front and a racing diffuser at the rear. The steering wheel with integrated display is an ode to Formula 1.

The car has a crub weight of just 1,235 kg (2,722 lbs).

However, both cars can be modified to be completely street legal. It is interesting to go to groceries store with such type of car.

After all, a McLaren is always a good investment, so if you have spare €350,000 for a vehicle, this is your car.

  • Gemballa Porsche 991 Carrera S GT Cabriolet Brings More Driving Excitement

Gemballa-Porsche-991-Carrera-S-GT-Cabriolet-THUMBGemballa Porsche 991 Carrera S GT Cabriolet is the latest “air-cooled” 911 equipped with its familiar flat-six soundtrack. In addition, the featured Gemballa GT package compliments the excitement on the driving experience.

At the core of this tuning is of course Gemballa’s GT aerodynamic package. The transformation here begins with new, front bumper/spoiler section with three large cooling air intakes, and large lip spoilers. This results in more stabilizing downforce at speed.

The connection between the new front and the rear is emphasized through the organic lines of the front spoiler, which extend into the deep side skirts of the Porsche. The new rear bumper/valance includes a recessed panel. It has a strong top and bottom horizontal lines, which visually put emphasis to the width of the car.

Other exclusive features contributing to the new visual appearance of the car is the upright reflector lights, which are positioned at each end of the panel and give a functional meaning to its extremities. In fact the new composition gives the Porsche more three-dimensional stance.

A diffuser here sits between Gemballa’s stainless steel exhaust system made from stainless steel. The latter has a deep voice thanks to its valve-operated sound control feature and gives the car the soundtrack to match its looks.

All of the featured in the package aerodynamic components are made from top grade carbon-fibre. However, no additional upgrade was made on the motor. Still, even with the standard motor, the Cabriolet is faster from point to point thanks to the improved sports suspension and brakes.

The 30mm shorter springs are calibrated in order to operate with the factory PASM (Porsche electronic damping control system), while the brake system is highly resistant to fade and allows to set later braking points.

At last, this car runs on GForged-one alloy wheels with their choice of “diamond cut” or “gunmetal” finishes in the eye-catching 21-inch diameter size. Thanks to modern forged, lightweight construction, they weigh less than the factory 20-inch wheels, whci results in improved ride and handling.

Gemballa Porsche 991 Carrera S GT Cabriolet Details:

    • Displacement: 3,800 cc

  • GEMBALLA Add Aero 2 GT Kit to Porsche Cayenne

Gemballa-Porsche-Cayenne-Aero-2-thumbGemballa see themselves as the force of evolution and today’s subject is the Porsche Cayenne 958. For it, they have a GT AERO 2 package which is basically a second stage carbon fiber body kit that adds a little flare to an already existing one – the GT AERO 1. Apparently, the latter was introduced at the beginning of this year.

So the GT AERO 2 adds wheel arch extensions and connecting side sills that “emphasize” (broaden) the Cayenne‘s width. Also…that’s about it. Everything aftermarketish on this Cayenne is the stuff seen on the GT AERO 1. That is, the front bumper and splitter, the rear bumper and the six tailpipes that stick out from it. The rooftop spoiler is the work of Gemballa too.

All finished and easily fitted, they had to find the appropriate wheels to fill in those arches. Will a set of 22-inch Gemballa bulks of alloy do the job?

  • Gemballa’s Diamond Finish: Sparkle, Sparkle

Gemballa-Diamond-Coating-thumbGemballa which are known for this and this, have now taken up a somewhat bonkers project. As far as we know, the first of April was a long time ago but, lo and behold, it’s the “world’s first diamond coating for the interior and exterior finish of vehicles”. So there you go. Now you can have soulless Hyundai look like a backstage prop from the Wizzard of Oz. And yes, we are talking about actual diamonds:

“When GEMBALLA speaks of diamonds, we really mean it”, explains CEO Andreas Schwarz. “Our complex process uses genuine diamonds as its key ingredient – not metal pigments, glass fragments, or crystals.”

We are dumbfounded in the search of what one might gain from that. As an argument, Gemballa suggest that diamonds have the strongest light refraction properties which in layman terms means sparkly. Very sparkly. We hate to think what happens when the car form the oncoming traffic bathes you in high-beams. Also, you wouldn’t want to leave your diamond-coated car in front of the grocer’s, would you? Of course not, shopping at the grocer’s is for mortals. A private helicopter supplies you with organic caviar from Spain.

Gemballa continue on saying that the diamond is one of the hardest naturally occurring substances known to man which is a comforting thought. Knowing that my interior is now seasoned with thousands of pieces of diamond, I would love to scrape off my face on them should an accident occur.

The tuners are confident that that is the right finish for their already carbon fiber abundant cars. We, on the other hand, are not.

  • Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir Wrapped by Cam Shaft

Cam-Shaft-Veyron-Sang-Noir-thumbThe Veyron Sang Noir is an official limited edition from Bugatti that utilizes some black paint for the exterior, has its carbon bits exposed and wears an orange upholstery. Other deviations from the standard include the design of the grille, the headlights (tinted) and the wheels – except that interior, the Noir sounds like a subtle job, no? Sadly however, while there are only 15 such in the world, one is currently being ruined by a vinyl company. Unless this car belongs to an energy drink company, this desecration cannot be justified.

The company responsible for this is known as Cam Shaft, based in Lower Rhine, Germany. Atrocities had begun even at the start of the restyling – chrome blue for a car that goes under the label Noir (Black). But we could have let that one slide. Black often can be a concept rather than something material. But then we get to the reflective foil “flash wires”. We see where they were going with this – wanting to make the Veyron angrier and scarier, more electric and so on. But it hasn’t worked. No, it looks more like a bad case of varicose veins. In addition the carbon fiber parts, the front and the headlights are covered with some sort of a paint protection film, which is fine by itself. However, the stated purpose of this film is a bit odd – reducing the likelihood of everyday road impacts at speeds of over 400 kmph. Because, leisurely driving up to the grocery store at 400 kmph is no doubt, an everyday issue.

While the services of Cam Shaft are said to be $2,667 on average, this one goes in the “five-figure region”.

P.S. – we are not entirely sure if Gemballa are somehow involved but the gallery certainly suggests so.

  • 2012 Geneva Motor Show: Gemballa GT Porsche 991 Carrera

Gemballa-GT-Porsche-991-Carrera-thumbGemballa do not think that the latest Porsche 991 Carrera needs a performance boost. After all, it has a 340hp 3.4 liter flat six power plant that provides an electric enough feel. And if there is anything that can get close to the mighty GT3, it’s the Carrera S version that has a 3.8 liter, 400hp engine. What I’m trying to say is that the latest “designpackage” from Gemballa for the Carrera is strictly visual. At this point we have a few aerodynamic features, new wheels and a sonorous arrangement (exhaust pipes).

Gemballa CEO, Andreas Schwarz, explains: “Creating an even more individual appearance for this iconic sports car is a natural step for Gemballa, and we are proud to present our GT package for the new Carrera.”

The body kit consists of “made in Germany” type carbon fitments – a front bumper, a rear one and some side skirts. Everything is designed to fit perfectly to the standard mounting points of the car. Installing them requires no cutting or grinding so the return to stock components is quite feasible.

Gemballa have also provided four 21-inch wheels that are just a little bit lighter than the standard 19-inch ones on the Carrera and quite a lot lighter than the 20-inch set on the Carrera S.

“Lowering the unsprung weight despite going up a wheel size was a priority,” said Schwarz.

Eventually, we reach a point where we have to talk about pipes. About all six of them. The Gemballa exhaust system helps the engine with the breathing and the singing.

  • 2012 Geneva Motor Show: Gemballa GT McLaren MP4-12C

Gemballa has introduced the Gemballa GT based on the McLaren MP4-12C at the Geneva Motor Show.

“Our starting point is a aerodynamic styling kit and ultra-light forged alloy wheels, and we are developing an engine upgrade programme as well.”, commented Gemballa CEO, Andreas Schwarz.

The Gemballa GT comes with complete aerodynamic package including a new front spoiler, a new rear bumper, a pair of side skirts, a new rear apron and a rear wing.

The car sits on 20” alloy wheels at the front and 21” at the rear fitted with high-performance low-profile tires.

However, do not mistake this model to the recently introduced Racing MP4-12C GT3.

  • Gemballa at the Geneva Motor Show: Tornado Cayenne II, Mistrale Panamera and Racing MP4-12C GT3

Gemballa are ready to introduce several pimped cars at the Geneva Motor Show, next week. Actually, they will introduce three vehicles – Tornado Cayenne II, Mistrale Panamera and Racing MP4-12C GT3. The SUV and the sports saloon are extremely updated, while the McLaren features minor changes and a lot of badges.

Gemballa Tornado is based on Porsche Cayenne II and features full body kit including new front and rear bumpers, wheel arch extensions and a pair of side skirts. There are also two performance packages boosting the mighty twin-turbocharged V8 to 700HP and 1000Nm. There are also Brembo brake system including 420mm vented discs with 6-piston calipers at the front and 405mm with 4-piston at the rear. The SUV stands on a set of huge rims – 10J x 22” with 295/35 ZR22 at the front and 12J x 22” with 335/30 ZR22 tires at the rear. Only 30 units are planned to be produced.

The Mistrale Panamera is as insane as the Tornado or maybe more. It also features complete body kit, but this time almost everything is reworked even the rear lights. It also rides on the same 22” multi-spoke lightweight foged wheels, but the brake system is slightly smaller – 411 mm discs at the front axle with 6-piston calipers and 380mm discs at the rear axle with 4-piston calipers. The performance packages are the same – Stage I – 610PS and 850Nm and Stage II – 700PS and 1000Nm. The interior is also entirely reworked – there is Alcantara all over the place – dashboard, steering wheel, seats, etc.

Last is the Racing MP4-12C GT3 coming with a new paint and a lot of badges. The only exterior modification is the vented front hood, because a GT3 car is expected to be perfect, especially, when it is priced from £310 000. However, because of the mods, Gembala Racing MP4-12C GT3 is expected to be more expensive.

  • GEMBALLA to enter two McLaren MP4-12C GT3s

Setting yet another milestone in the year of its 30th Anniversary, GEMBALLA is proud to announce the debut of GEMBALLA racing. The new team will enter two McLaren MP4-12C GT3 cars in the 2012 motorsport season.

Team owner and GEMBALLA investor, Steffen Korbach, has hired Sascha Bert to manage his new motorsport venture. A well-known racing driver and instructor, Bert is a former German kart champion, Formula 3 and FIA GT driver, and has stood on the winners’ podium at the Nürburgring VLN 24-hour race amongst others. As Korbach said in Frankfurt today, “Sascha Bert is an absolute pro, and is ideally qualified to manage our new racing team.”

“We chose the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 because we think this car has the potential to be one of the season’s leaders,” Korbach explained. “We have also put together a team of drivers and mechanics who are proven winners. Racing is in our blood! We want to win!”

The GEMBALLA name has been synonymous with high performance, reliability and extraordinary qualities for 30 years. Now, 17 years after the McLaren F1 GTR won the gruelling 24-hours of Le Mans on its debut outing, GEMBALLA racing will capitalise on McLaren’s competition pedigree to mount its own challenge.

Race bred by a marque that has always been a front-runner in Formula 1, the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 incorporates world-class technology. Based on the recently launched MP4-12C supercar, the GT3 racecar features a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine, bespoke racing gearbox, carbon safety cell, race front splitter, large fixed rear wing, optimised air vents at the front and a racing diffuser at the rear. The steering wheel with integrated display is an ode to Formula 1.
