Ford has already begun the production of the 2014 Ford Focus Electric, which is the first full-electric vehicle. In addition, this car will be the firs EV built by the company and distributed in Europe.
Of course, the Focus Electric emits zero CO2 emissions, adding to brand’s line-up of electrified and highly fuel-efficient vehicles. The launch of the model will be joined in Europe by the Ford C MAX Energi plug-in hybrid electric and followed by the Ford Mondeo Hybrid next year.
The car was developed as a “One Ford” global vehicle. It includes an advanced electric motor and lithium-ion battery powertrain. They both produce 145 hp (107 kW) and thanks to this the car achieves a Vmax of 84 mph.
Furthermore, the charging system of the Focus Electric includes a 6.6kW fully integrated onboard charger. The latter is capable of achieving a driving range of around 60 miles with 2-3 hours charging from a 32 A power supply. A full charge of the EV’s battery is in 3-4 hours and offers a 100-mile range.
Adding to this, this Ford EV is equipped with new user interface which is named SmartGauge. The latter calculates and displays the driving range based on remaining energy. In addition, the car also features unique braking and acceleration inputs, and wide range of accessories such as climate control and audio systems.
Focus Electric’s powertrain utilizes regenerative braking. This technology was developed with the aim of capturing up to 95 per cent of kinetic energy, which is usually lost during the braking process. On the other hand the innovative Brake Coach feature delivers gradual braking in order to aid the return of more energy to the battery.
First 2014 Ford Focus Electric vehicles will reach the customers in Europe from July this year.

If you live in San Francisco, than there is a huge probability that you have witnessed a spectacular event with the participation of 2013 Ford Focus ST. However, if you haven’t view it by your own, or if you aren’t living in this beautiful city, we have good news for you: all that was going one has been recorded and you can watch the video below.
Ford Focus ST taking part in the Ultimate Urban Playground Video
But what is it all about? Well the project is called Ultimate Urban Playground and is conducted by of Ken Block. In fact, this video is the fifth installment of the award-winning viral video franchise. In it Block’s Gymkhana unleashes the 246 horses (180 kW) of the Ford through the iconic streets of San Francisco.
Focus ST is Ford’s first global performance car, priced from £21 995 it will go on sale in September.
2013 Ford Focus ST turns out to be highly efficient, because of its new 2.0-liter EcoBoost® four-cylinder engine. Thanks to it the Ford achieves incredible fuel economy numbers: 32 mpg highway, 23 mpg city and 26 mpg combined.
This means that the Focus ST, which is six-speed manual only, has better fuel efficiency performance compared to its rivals in the same class, for example such as Volkswagen GTI and MazdaSpeed3.
2013 Ford Focus ST
If we have to make a comparison between this and the current version of the 2013 Ford Focus ST with the previous-generation Ford Focus, well the latter produced only 140 horsepower (103 kW) and 136 lb.-ft. (184 Nm) of torque. Now, the Focus ST gives up only 3 mpg on the highway but gains 112 horsepower (82 kW) and 134 lb.-ft. (182 Nm) of torque, this means a total of 252 horsepower (185 kW) and 270 lb.-ft. (366 Nm).
The main reason for the great economy results is the special engine that the car has. In fact, the Focus ST is the first that has the four-cylinder performance EcoBoost engine. Now, the fuel-efficient EcoBoost powertrains are a mainstay in Ford’s lineup.
Again a tuned up estate. This time it’s from the guys at Loder1899 and the car in question is a Ford Focus, so that’s unusual. And by unusual, we mean rare and exclusive. It’s a fairly flexible program that makes use of an aerodynamic kit, a few suspension and wheels options plus a power enhancement for…the diesel range.
At the front we can find a “cupspoiler”, on the sides of the focus, you can go for the carbon or non-carbon side skirts. At the back, an apron with the diffuser is supposed to keep the back end planted…because otherwise you might skid off the road while doing power slides on the way to the grocery store.
If required, the Focus can be lowered with a suspension kit by around 35 mm. There’s a choice between a single or dual pipe exhaust system and a wheel spectrum that ranges from 17 to 20 inches.
The Loder1899Ford Focus Estate we see here is a 2.0-liter TDCI that has 140 bhp as standard. By fitting the company’s ECU upgrade, we can get 55 bhp more. So that’s 195 bhp and 395 Nm of torque as soon as 2000 rpm. The top speed is now 220 km/h and the zero to 100 km/h time stands at 8.4 seconds as opposed to 8.9 seconds. The one thing that has remained pretty much the same ford this Ford Focus, is the economy- 5.0 l/100 km on the combined cycle.
2013 Ford Focus ST has the exciting new 250 horsepower (184 kW). This is on of the most appreciated performance hatchbacks and it will go on sale from 1st of June 2012. The base price is £21 995.
The Focus ST is propelled by a direct-injection 2.0-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder EcoBoost engine. With it the Ford vehicle is develops 250 horsepower. In addition to that the car is also very fuel efficient maintaining 39.2mpg and emits just 169 g/kg CO2.
In addition, it comes equipped with unique suspension, non-linear variable-ratio steering and performance brakes. They have all been specifically tuned. Furthermore there can be seen the central exhaust system, trapezoidal front grille, an even the Tangerine Scream paint option.
2013 Ford Focus ST
The Focus ST will be offered in two body-styles – hatchback and estate. They not only provide practicality, but also great performance, high level of comfort, safety and convenience features.
The standard specification include the following: Ford Power keyless start, Recaro seats, DAB radio, Bluetooth and 18in alloy wheels, with the range-topping ST3 model adding heated, leather seats, Bi-Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights and keyless entry.
As an option are available rado-grey alloys wheels, red brake callipers and illuminated scuff plates. Namely, the optional packs are:
Driver Assistance Pack: Active City Stop, Blind Spot Monitoring, forward camera features (e.g. Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Departure Warning etc.)
City Pack (Standard on ST-3): Rear Parking Distance Sensors, Power Fold Mirrors;
ST Style Pack: 18in alloys in rado-grey, red brake callipers, illuminated scuff plates; Sony DAB Navigation with rear view camera
The 2013 model season is an exciting one for the Ford Motor Company. Financially and creatively, Ford is in the midst of a renaissance, and the consumer is already reaping the benefits of that resurgence. This is especially true in the car markets, where the exciting options range from sedans to hatches to coupes. In that spirit, let’s examine the top five car models that will cause a stir at Ford Canada dealers this year.
Ford Fusion
Ford Fusion
The Fusion has been a best-seller among mid-size sedans in America for several years, so it surprised many when Ford announced a total redesign. The new model will get a dramatic style overhaul, and consumers will have their choice of three conventional engines or a gas-electric or plug-in hybrid. The base engine will be a 2.5L four-cylinder that makes 170 horsepower. A turbocharged 2.0L makes 237 hp. The Fusion Hybrid uses the 2.0L along with a li-ion battery pack, which lets it outperform the Toyota Camry at 47 mph in the city.
Ford Focus
Ford Focus
The biggest change with the 2013 edition of the Ford Focus is the ST, a performance model that many are affectionately referring to as the “hot hatch.” The ST is the successor to the Focus SVT, which was available in the early 2000s and gave the best German and Japanese front-wheel-drive compacts a run for their money. The biggest upgrade that the ST brings is a 2.0L direct-injected turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 252 hp, which is 92 hp more than the standard Focus model makes. The ST includes a 6-speed manual transmission, and Ford does not plan to offer an automatic version.
Ford Taurus
Ford Taurus
The Ford Taurus boasts a large trunk and a big, comfortable interior, and it is one of the most appealing interpretations of the classic full-size sedan on the market. For 2013, Ford is simply refreshing the exterior and adding an array of conveniences to all trim levels. The biggest change is under the hood, where the base engine will now be a 3.5L V6 that makes 290 hp. The EPA estimates the fuel performance at 19/29/23 city/highway/combined mpg. The standard equipment package is quite nice and includes 17-inch wheels, cruise control, air-conditioning, and a six-speaker audio system.
Ford Fiesta
Ford Fiesta
In North America, there’s been a great deal of focus — pun intended — on the 250-hp ST, but in Europe, the focus has been on the Fiesta, an even smaller hot hatch. The 2013 Fiesta ST, which will also be available in Canada, is a 3-door version of the ST concept car that turned heads at last year’s L.A. auto show. Like the concept, the Fiesta ST has a 1.6L EcoBoost inline-four engine that makes 177 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque, and Ford has promised 60 mph in less than seven seconds.
Ford Mustang
Ford Mustang
The Ford Mustang needs no introduction. It is classic American musclecar, and while there is a new Mustang generation on the horizon, the current one is still a top muscle car and one of the best values on the sports car market. The Mustang is available as coupe and convertible and in six trim levels: V6, V6 Premium, GT, GT Premium, Boss 302, and the Shelby GT500. The basic 3.7L V6 makes 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, and the Shelby 350GT makes a whopping 662 hp and 613 lb-ft of torque.
2013 Ford Focus ST is the latest high-performance hatchback by the brand which is now available to order. It will deliver outstanding performance and handling combined with distinctive interior and muscular exterior design.
Focus ST combines advanced and sport-oriented technologies, such as the Tangerine Scream metallic color and a race-inspired Recaro® seats with matching color accents.
In fact, this Ford model will deliver the perfect balance between pure driving excitement and everyday livability.
The heart of the Focus ST is the highly efficient EcoBoost® 2.0-liter engine. Thank to it the vehicle has responsiveness, strong off-idle power and a broad torque curve. In particular, this engine produces 252 horsepower (185 kW) and 270 lb.-ft. (200 Nm) of torque.
Furthermore, this model comes equipped with a lot of other features which enhance the pleasure of the driving experience. One of them is for instance the sound symposer box which improves the natural sounds of the motor by capturing internal engine oscillations and piping them through the interior under throttle. Under full throttle, the engine music is amplified through the symposer box.
Given the fact that the engine carries the name EcoBoost, this can only mean one thing – fuel efficiency. Although the official EPA figures are not yet available, I can assure you that the fuel economy will be exceptional and n fact – best in class.
2013 Ford Focus ST has another distinctive feature which makes it a very sporty car. It is namely its unique sport suspension, which combines innovative technologies. For example the agility is enhanced thanks to the variable-ratio steering rack, which makes steering less sensitive on the straightaways but increases sensitivity at the corners.
Another example is the electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) which is enhanced with torque steer compensation. The more aggressive tuning of the torque steer compensation helps the driver feel in complete control.
Some additional highlights of this model are the following features: Recaro sport seats, unique 18-inch Y-spoke ST wheels, dual-zone climate control, Xenon headlights and leather appointments throughout the cabin, SYNC® with MyFord Touch®, Sony® Audio System, HD Radio™ and 10-speaker surround sound.

We all know the Focus ST, right? It’s not that every market offers it but with the pace Ford has taken up, that problem would soon be a thing of the past. The latest debut for the ST would be the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. Soon, this stunning hothatch will be a reality on the Chinese streets.
“The ST will be the performance flagship of our new Focus range, and we are excited to provide our enthusiast customers the opportunity to see it Beijing,” said Nigel Harris, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford Motor China. “The ST represents an ultimate expression of Focus driving quality and performance.”
So, no compromises. Simply pure and exhilarating performance, top of the line handling, growling sounds and an aggressive design – true ST experience. Ford are hoping that by the end of 2012, their latest Focus model range will be available to all global markets. A 250 hp rated, 2.0 EcoBoost engine is to delight anyone in the world, who would fancy some blistering performance and eardrum bursting sounds.
“The Focus ST will be a serious driving machine, and our design and engineering teams have developed a purposeful exterior combined with a cockpit that blends sporting function with impressive comfort,” said Harris.
2012 Ford Focus 1.0-litre EcoBoost Titanium is to deliver great fuel efficiency and emit low number of CO2 emissions thanks to its groundbreaking 100 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoos engine.
The new Ford Focus is equipped with the innovative 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, which produces 100 hp (74 kW) and thus is able to deliver lower fuel costs than any other Ford before.
What it does in particular is that the Focus new 100PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine achieves 58.8mpg. However, despite that number, it is still able to deliver great performance, combined with power and even more torque (than previous models of Focus for instance).
Furthermore, what must be highlighted here is that Ford’s new EcoBoost petrol engine utilizes the latest technology. It includes enhanced and advanced turbocharging and direct injection. The consequence is that it is able to deliver the performance of a traditional 1.6-litre engine with the fuel economy of a 1.0-litre one!
Another important fact is that thank to all these innovations and modifications, the new engine takes not only fuel economy, but also CO2 emissions to new levels for a petrol family car. As mentioned, it achieves up to 58.8mpg, and the CO2 emissions are 109g/km CO2. Not forgetting that all this comes together with excellent performance and refinement, which makes it the perfect choice especially for city driving.
Ford’s fuel-efficient new 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine will be also offered in the Ford C-MAX and the all-new Ford B-MAX.
