  • SPEED-BUSTER celebrates the 30th anniversary of BMW M5 with unique tuning program

Speed Buster BMW M5 F10 side view

SPEED-BUSTER offers comprehensive power upgrade for the entire BMW M5 range

BMW 5-Series is 44 years old! Can you believe that? It is almost impossible to grasp that one of the most iconic models in BMW’s lineup has debuted back in 1972 and ever since then it has been praised as being one of the best middle class prestige saloons. Fourteen years later, in 1986, BMW released an M version (M5) of the model, topping a 286 hp of performance and taking the crown as the fastest production saloon in the world! How cool is that actually!

But what happens with the current M5 series. BMW is celebrating 30 years of its introduction with the release of a special edition model. What is more, it has added the unique Gran Turismo variant, which in our opinion shows even better the capabilities of the outstanding Bavarian company.

The current series, M5 F10, has a power output between 560 and 600 hp depending on the variant one chooses. The horsepower is pretty much enough, but for those who want even more there is always someone who will offer “even more”. In this case, such someone is the renowned chip tuning company SPEED-BUSTER. The experts there have prepared a muscle-building program for the German blockbuster.

They have developed a special Chiptuning-Box, which re-maps the electronic brain controlling the TwinPower Turbo V8 engine. If one has chosen to go for the “30 Years” anniversary model, then after the modification he or she will be getting up to 695 hp, which is an increase of 95 hp. The torque has been uprated from 700 Nm to 844 Nm.

Owners of the of the M5 Competition Package variant are getting even more. The power increase has been estimated around 108 hp, thus making the numbers increase from 575 hp to a rousing 683 hp, with peak torque up from 680 to 839 Nm.

The least powerful variant among the M5s is the standard one which comes with “only” 560 hp and 680 Nm. After the SPEED-BUSTER Chiptuning-Box intervention, it is now capable of 631 hp and 820 Nm.

  • Simple but Charming: Meet JMS BMW 5-Series Facelift

JMS Fahrzeugteile BMW 5-Series Front ViewJMS Fahrzeugteile BMW 5-Series Facelift is an example how sometimes tiny changes can make a “big deal”. Not everybody, including me, like pompous tunings or modifications. In fact, if there are people who think like I do, then they will find that some conversions are even equal to unnecessary spent money. But it depends on the taste and of course, we shouldn’t generalize all tunings out there.

So, this 5-Series have received new stance just by three simple steps. Here they are:

    STEP 1

JMS tuning specialists have used the meaning lowering very well. This BMW features Racelook Exclusiv Line front spoiler lip with integrated splitter not only for an addition of sportier touch, but also for 28 mm lowering. The spoiler lip also makes the perfect visual transition to the standard side sills.

    STEP 2

    JMS Fahrzeugteile BMW 5-Series Grille

Changing the handling and road-holding was achieved with the help of KW Variant 3 coil-over suspension. This has resulted in 55 mm lowering at the front and 45 mm lowering at the rear, contributing to the more purposeful and aggressive stance of this 5-Series.

    STEP 3

The last step that JMS tuners did is to replace the standard alloys with Oxigin 18 Concave Wheel in 9.0×20 and 10.5×20-inch sizes at the front and rear, shod with 245/35R20 and 275/30R20 tires.

Accessories such as the JMS Tuning accelerator “Speedpedal”, performance upgrades and sport exhaust systems care also an option here as they come with a special JMS program. What do you think about this project? Does these changes seem enough to you?

  • This is the Ultimate M5. G-Power Tunes it to crazy 740 HP

G-Power is a tuner famous for its admirations for BMW models. And specializing only in this single company’s products it has achieved heights that it is literally impossible for anyone else to follow it. Of course, we are speaking in terms of power, since this beautiful black M5 is capable of more than 740 horsepower (455 kW) and 975 Nm (717 lb-ft), delivering it via its tweaked 4.4 V8 bi-turbo engine.

This means that the car achieves the same performance level as the first versions of the legendary G-Power M5 and M6 HURRICANE cars that were equipped with the supercharged V10 engines. And if these numbers mean nothing to you, then you should know that the standard M55 generates “only” 560 hp/(412 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft). Now this is impressive, isn’t it?

But how this gain in power has been achieved? The performance package here is called Bi-Tronik 5 V4. It comprises of an external performance module that has been based on a microprocessor, as well as a Titanium exhaust system with racing catalysts.

Then the Bi-Tronik 5 V4 was enhances by a G-Power V-MAX increase, which is actually a software optimization that adds some numbers to the top speed. The result is breathtaking: the V-max now stands at 350 km/h. All of these changes logically result in better performance figures. G-Power says that the enhanced BMW sprints from 0 to 200 km/h in only 10.5 seconds on its way to the new top speed.

Modifications have been implemented to the engine cover, which is now made from visual carbon fibre, and there is tuning company’s badge in its middle. The sound of the powerful unit now goes out from four titanium/carbon tail pipes. Then, the appropriate wheels were added, being namely the 21 inch G-Power HURRICANE RR, which were then shod with 255/30 ZR 21 and 295/25 ZR 21 Michelins.

All in all, this is another stunning tuning from G-Power that attracts a lot of attention. Great work guys!

  • Update: Vorsteiner BMW M5 F10 Photo Shoot

Vorsteiner-BMW-M5-F10-shadowVorsteiner-BMW-M5-F10-mediumNot exactly breaking news, but a photo shoot of Vorsteiner’s BMW F10 M5. We don’t really need an excuse to relish in some eye-candy goodness, do we?

It’s an delicate thing this, mainly because Vorsteiner haven’t gone destroying it with a ridiculous body kit. In fact, this might just be the most reserved tuning effort of them all. All the while, it would seem that Vorsteiner went through an awful lot of fuss just so that they can leave their mark on the BMW M5. Consider this – the three main components that distinguish their BMW from all the rest are the carbon front splitter, rear diffuser, and lip spoiler on the trunk lid. Yet, they modeled them on a 3D printer (these days even bacon seems to be modeled by a 3D printer before it arrives on our plates); and, before actually bolting the pieces on the M5, Vorsteiner tested their aerodynamic properties in a wind tunnel.

Last but not least, they gave the M5 a set of 21-inch VS-190 Forged Monoblock Wheels leaving just about a hair of space between the tires and the wheel arches.

Generally improved or would you rather have it marooned?
