  • Citroen to Introduce the Flagship DS5 in Geneva

Citroen’s sub-brand DS is currently releasing the DS5 model, which stands atop of the range of vehicles with its luxury styling and range of advanced technologies. Of course, it is an embodiment of all the attributes of present and future DS vehicles. The flagship model has unique features like the sculpted, vertical grille with the DS monogram in the centre, the Xenon Full LED headlights, a new touch drive interface as well as a new range of high-performance engines.

The “avant-garde” design of the car has the characteristic key features of the sub-brand. Here is the vertical grille with the DS Wings’ signature, which extends as two shafts of light into the new headlamp design. Regarding the headlights, they combine LED and Xenon technologies, along with scrolling indicators.

Inside, the designers opted for an aerospace-inspired theme. One of the most characteristic features is the roof with its three light wells. There is also a new touch-drive interface with simplified ergonomic design and new connected services like the Mirror Screen technology. This function lets users copy smartphone content onto the screen and ensures all relevant apps can be used safely when driving.

Safety is ensured by the standard blind spot monitoring system, which joins the lane departure warning function, automatic high beam control, turning headlights that work with the static cornering lighting to optimize illumination, hill-start assist, stability control, intelligent traction control, a reversing camera and a head-up display.

There are a total of six efficient engines and gearbox combinations offered for the DS5. Their power range is from 120 to 210hp, while the torque range is between 240 and 400Nm. • #DS3byNight is “Light-Painting” Digital Campaign for DS3 [VIDEO]

Citroen-DS-video-THUMBCitroen’s sub-brand DS has launched an innovative campaign called #DS3byNight digital campaign, which is inspired by DS 3 and comes to show-off its new Xenon & Full LED light signature. As a matter of fact, this is the first communications campaign which utilizes the Pixelstick ‘light painting’ technology that practically made the video below possible. This technology allows the DS3 to bring pictures and words to light in spectacular fashion. The result is a light-filled film, which highlights the DS world of luxury and which takes viewers on a night time tour in Paris.

Echoing the Xenon and Full LED technologies that we have seen in the new DS 3 headlamps, the DS brand is utilizing this new ‘light painting’ technology to project detailed patterns and a range of animations, in a series of time lapse films. As you can see for yourself below, the result is a spectacular showcase for the light signature of DS 3, which in addition showcases brand’s values of elegance and advanced technology.

The innovative film will also be supported by an interactive social media campaign. In it users will create their own messages, which in turn will be brought to light against backgrounds of classic Parisian scenes. This will happen over a ten-day period until 22 October.

2014 Citroen DS3 and DS3 Cabrio models were enhanced at the end of May this year. It is when they have adopted the new high-tech light signature, featuring the combination of LED and Xenon lightning technologies with new sequential indicators. The new headlights deliver greater visibility in both low- and high-beam positions. Three LED modules and a Xenon module were used for the design of this wide and uniform beam.

In addition, the new headlights also minimize the energy consumption by 35% when they operate in low-beam mode and by 75% – in high-beam. They are capable of life time of over 20,000 hours, or in other words – twenty times longer than halogen lights. LED DRLs in the front air intakes complete the new light signature. Facelifted DS3 models also have 3D-effect LED rear lights.

  • Citroen Divine DS Brand’s Future Presented At The Paris Motor Show

    Citroen-Divine-DS-tCitroen-Divine-DS-651

The attention at the Paris motor show is prone to be turned at the DS Brand’s spectacular launch. Citroen is very serious about the DS brand being a stand-alone unit. The Divine DS represent a vision of the future for the DS brand. A compact four-door vehicle the Divine DS stands out due to its sensual looking exterior, but msotly due to the striking interior. The cabin design features a bold, high-tech layout with spectacular contrast, which introduces the hyper typish tehcnique, allowing customers to choose an interior trim that reflects their personality.

While the german auto makers are engaged in battle to see how can make the best sports car out of a family hatchback, french care maker Citroen is having another goal at the perfect luxuty experience. The all-new DS Divine is making its debut at the Paris motor show. This is the first european car model launched since the PSA decided to turn citron and DS into separate car brands with different identities. You can deffinitely tell the Divine DS is in a totally different league from the likes of the the DS 3

The Divine DS power comes from one of the most impressive engines PSA owns. The same one 1.6 litter turbo used by the Peugeot RCZ delivering up to 270 PS at 6,000 rpm, 243 lb feed from 1900 rpm. The DS’s 1.6 Liter THP turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine, developing 270 hp and a maximum torque of 330 Nm, 243 lb-ft between 1,900 and 5,500 rpm provides you with one pretty fast ride.

Even though, it clearly borrows its headlights style, key highlights of the design, like the interior or the tailights take on the appearance of a multi-faceted service made up of small interlocking triangles. Another interesting feature is the laser technology used on the headlights. Inspired by the facelift DS3, the light signature at the front, maintains the principal of independent lead modules and features “Swarowski” crystal fabric at the base of each unit. The headlights combine sequental indicators with laser technology. They include two high-powered laser diodes per module, which are 50% more powerful than conventional LED lights. Equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels which have floating spokes.

The interiror also boasts a new headliner design, inspired by three branches with jewel enctusted dashboard. The cabin features three interchangable interior ambiences, each with its own unique style that can be changed in just 15 minutes. These three different ambiences are called “mâle”, French for male, “Parisien chic”, were designed with the help of famous names, including embroidery and crystals from “Swarowski”

The car is 4.21 meters long, 1.98 meters wide and 1.35 meters high, this makes it about the same length as the C4 hatchback, but a lot wider. Its proportions and well rounded rear quarters look like the Alfa Romeo Brera, it may look like the french car manufacturer is copying an Italian design but this nothing like that.

The Paris Motor Show is going to be opened to the public on Saturday, 4 October 2014.

The airy-looking drape enfolds the passenger, while driver’s side is a true example of advanced technology.

The central console sets out the driving functions. Main features include special toggle switches decorated with gemstones and a digital clock with a stone set in its surround in the middle. The rectangular steering wheel resembles more a sculpture rather than a regular steering wheel.

The seats are as futuristic as everything throughout the interior. They are upholstered in full-grain aniline leather. At the rear there aren’t any rear windows, which allow passengers to immerse in an intimate atmosphere.

This Citroen concept also stands for new automotive experience, which is all about exclusive philosophy for personalization, referred to as ‘Hyper-typage’. This is a material that shimmers with millions of tiny crystals.

DIVINE DS is a concept with a dynamic and avant-garde design, featuring futuristic headlights combining sequential indicators with laser technology, facets on the roof that open to reveal a reversing camera and optimised aerodynamics. Inside, the ‘cockpit’ driving position and exclusive use of digital systems such as touch screen and holographic display showcase the latest in-car technology. The 20-inch alloy wheels, on which the car runs, have an innovative design with the floating spokes.

The high-tech ‘cockpit’ features HD Touch Drive interface with a spectacular 10.4 inch screen. It is located on the overhead console and includes a function that replaces the rear-view mirror. The driver’s information is in digital form, with a head-up display above the steering wheel, while behind it there is a holographic display.

Citroen DIVINE DS concept was unveiled in Paris yesterday, prior its official premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October. The car will be also displayed at the Chantilly Concours d’Elégance event on 7th of September.

  • 2014 Citroen DS 6WR Debuts In Beijing

2014-Citroen-DS-6WR-THUMB2014 Citroen DS 6WR officially debuted at the Beijing Motor Show adding an SUV in the DS powerful range. It is inspired by the Wild Rubis concept that was unveiled last year at Auto Shanghai. In fact this is Citroen’s first production SUV and next to the DS 5LS, makes the next stage in the development of DS in China. The car was originally designed in Paris and features original body lines combined with the powerful presence and sophisticated design cues of the DS line-up.

This SUV is 4.55m long, 1.86m wide and 1.61m tall and also offers very long wheelbase of 2.73m. In addition, it runs on 19-inch wheels and features Grip Control. This technology enhances traction on all types of terrain without a four-wheel drive system. What is more, it also reduces both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

DS 6WR is driven by either the e-THP 160 or THP 200 engine. They feature sequential direct injection with a high-pressure pump and Twin Scroll type turbocharger. In addition, each of them is coupled with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Some of the elegant exterior highlights of the DS 6WR are the unique chrome-finish side signature, the aluminium bars and the sculpted lines of the rear wing. At the front, is positioned a new grille, which is attractive and features sculptural design. It is called “DS Wings”, inspired by the two chrome-finish wings connecting it to the headlamps.

The modern look of the grill is additionally enhanced by the DS logo positioned on it. It also features incisive light signature with DRLs in a tuning-fork layout and Xenon technology. At the rear, the lights are built into the wraparound tailgate. The latter is underlined at the base by a chrome finish with a twin exhaust.

2014 Citroen DS 6WR will make its debut at the end of the year in China and will probably be introduced in other countries. Citroen will also introduce another China built model in the upcoming months.

  • Citroen’s DS Family Gets The 5LS in China

Citroen-DS-5LS-shadowCitroen-DS-5LS-mediumCitroen‘s DS line grows. Today, the 5LS joins the family – it’s a luxurious executive saloon that’s going to go on sale in March 2014 exclusively in China.

Although it has been now officially, “unveiled” we don’t really know much about it. It’s big, that’s for sure. Boasting a length of 4.70 m, the 5LS is supposed to have the longest wheelbase in its class (2.71 m). It’s wide too. At 1.84 m distance between the fenders, there’s plenty of space for a 1955 throwback front grille. It’s not all about the history though. Stylish boomerang-shaped Daytime Running Lights and 3D rear LED lights reassuringly state that the 5LS is firmly planted in the present and looking straight ahead.

Most of the remaining information concerns the insides – metal, wood and leather all fuse together to create an environment of utmost luxury and class. Apparently, “watch strap” seat design is the signature move of the DS line. For the ideal comfort of the rear passengers, the backrest is at an angle of exactly 29 degrees. Things get even more bourgeoisie when we consider the air ioniser inside the cabin.

Chauffeurs (why would anyone buy the 5LS and drive it himself?) should rejoice as well. The DS features a clever stereo system, massaging front seats, keyless entry and start, blind spot monitoring, front and back parking sensors and a reversing camera.

The oily bits are the ones that has suffered the most glossing over. All we know is that, for the time being, there will be two engines available; the THP 160 and the THP 200. Both engines feature sequential direct injection, a high-pressure pump, and Twin Scroll turbo compressors. A 6-speed automatic gearbox will channel their power to the wheels.Citroen-DS-5LS-medium-2

  • Citroen DS Line and Sebastien Loeb Honored by International Automobile Festival

Citroen-DS-line-thumbThe Citroen DS is still young and ripe but already it has set on maturing into a hefty lineup : the DS3, DS4 and DS5. It will join an already successful market of DS vehicles with around 180 000 units sold and counting.

And know, the International Automobile Festival has decided that the DS needs some recognition so the Design Grand Prize is rightfully allocated to Citroen to honor the vigorous design team and the car marque as a whole. The award was presented to Jean-Pierre Ploué, Director of Styling for the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group on 25 January at the official ceremony marking the 27th International Automobile Festival.

In the mean time, rally driver Sebastien Loeb who has been racing Citroens since 2001 and is the only driver in the world with eight consecutive World Rally Championship titles was honored by the Festival’s jury. Because of him, Citroen has enjoyed much success as a manufacturer of rally cars (seven titles to be exact). This year is looking good too, as he has already sealed a victory at Monte Carlo, the first rally of the new season, which took place last weekend. That success story is the reason to honor Loeb’s exceptional sporting career by presenting him with a Palme d’Or (golden palm) award.
