CUPRA starts production of the new Formentor

CUPRA has today started production of the new Formentor, the first vehicle designed and developed uniquely for the brand.

The CUPRA Formentor will be available to order in the UK from Tuesday 20th October, starting with the 2.0-liter 310PS petrol engine, and followed by other engines including the plug-in hybrid variant.

The CUPRA Formentor becomes the sixth model to be produced in Martorell (Barcelona), which has returned to its pre-pandemic production rate. Initial production of Formentor will begin with 160 units per day, however, it will eventually represent more than 10 percent of manufacturing volume at the plant once it is at full production rate.

In total, manufacturing the Formentor includes 3,000 workers on Line Two of the plant, across three shifts.

Wayne Griffiths, SEAT and CUPRA President, commented: “The new Formentor is a big step for CUPRA. As its first uniquely developed car, it will make the brand grow, be more visible and more desirable. We aim to exceed our initial goal of doubling CUPRA’s sales volume with the launch of this car and break into new markets thanks to its wide range of engines. I am convinced that this model will change the future of the CUPRA brand.”

A pillar for CUPRA
The Formentor is a key pillar in CUPRA’s strategy. With this new model, the brand plans to consolidate itself in the major European markets and enter new markets. CUPRA will also expand its intercontinental footprint across new Latin American markets, as well as Turkey and Israel.

Formentor is the first model to be homologated under the CUPRA brand, joining the CUPRA Ateca and CUPRA Leon, with all three entering the UK in quarter four 2020. Since 2018, CUPRA has sold more than 55,000 units globally. Both CUPRA Formentor and CUPRA Leon will be available in the UK with plug-in hybrid powertrains and will be joined in 2021 by the all-electric CUPRA el-Born.

All CUPRA vehicles will be sold via a dedicated network of retailers, reaching almost 520 specialists globally by the end of the year.

The keys to the first Formentor were handed over to FC Barcelona and CUPRA global ambassador, Marc Ter Stegen.

The German goalkeeper, Marc Ter Stegen, commented: “Since I saw the Formentor for the first time I was convinced to start a collaboration with CUPRA, as I strongly identify with its sporty spirit and sophisticated design. I appreciate the attention to detail, and the Formentor combines all the elements I look for in a vehicle. I’m looking forward to driving it on the streets of Barcelona.”

The CUPRA Formentor marks the brand’s entry into the CUV segment, which is expected to double its market share in Europe over the next five years. This high-performance crossover, which is named after the iconic cape of the island of Mallorca, combines the brand’s own DNA with cutting-edge technology, striking exterior design, and high-performance engines.

UK specification and pricing of the CUPRA Formentor will be announced on the 20th of October 2020, when the order books open.

Cupra launches a limited run of Ateca vehicles. Here are some specs!

2020 Cupra Ateca Limited Edition CUPRA, one of the prominent automobile manufacturers, has taken the progressive technology and performance of the new Ateca lineup to the next level with the launch of a Limited Edition model. Produced in mere 100 units, the vehicle brings increased levels of performance and showcases a new design concept. Furthermore, the car can be specified in either Rhodium Grey or the exclusive Graphite Grey with Akrapovic Exhaust System.

The halo model incorporates a two-liter four-cylinder TSI petrol unit with a seven-speed DSG gearbox, 4Drive (four-wheel-drive) system that altogether make it possible for the Ateca to speed from 0 to 100km/h in mere 4.9 seconds and chase a top speed of 274km/h.

Additional drivetrain features include an optional ABT Sportline power upgrade, which pushes the overall power output to 350hp and 440Nm. This boost to the mid-range torque is especially effective in improving the drivability and response on the move.

As it comes to visuals, CURPA Ateca Limited Edition exterior boasts a host of stylish cues as the exclusive 20-inch copper alloy wheels, a unique copper thread carbon fiber roof spoiler that enhances aerodynamic performance. For the interior, engineers and designers have included exclusive new color, black frames, copper carbon-fiber inserts and Petrol Blue Alcantara for the sporty seats. Neat!

2016 Seat CUPRA Offers Beautiful Looks And Sporty Features

SEAT unveiled the vehicle claimed to be perfect for dynamic lifestyle. The top version of the Leon lineup, the CUPRA 290 now comes with a total of 290 hp (213 kW) and promises outstanding performance and even better efficiency. The design, on the other hand comes with interesting lines, additional equipment options and high quality components. And as always, SEAT also offers nice value-for-money deal. But we will see if it really is that way.

As you know, the SEAT Leon CUPRA is much admired among customers and fans. In fact, the vehicle instantly became popular among car fans and media. But we still wonder whether the CUPRA is famous for its premium offerings or for its not-so-great features. Eventually we will find out. And now, the CUPRA adds even one more dimension: Estate. For work and family and for sporty hobbies. With its versatility and a total of 1,470 liters of luggage space the Leon ST CUPRA looks really like a flexible sports car which can meet the requirements of different aspects of life. Sounds good, right?

2016 Seat Ibiza Cupra Comes With Bold Visuals And Sporty Character

2016 Seat Ibiza Cupra 2016 Ibiza CUPRA showcases the essence of what SEAT has to offer to its customers: bold design, incredible performance and next-gen technological features. The compact, but yet flexible CUPRA is believed to be the best compact sporty car. And maybe it is. The vehicle is geared with a 1.8-Liter TSI powerplant, which offers a top speed of 235 km/h (130 mph) and ends the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) run in 6.7 seconds. And along with the impressive performance stats, the 2016 CUPRA also offers and some comfortable interior styling. Seat Leon ST CUPRA 280 Sets Nürburgring Lap Record [VIDEO]

Seat is also making an appearance at GTI Wörthersee Treffen. As a matter of fact there it debuts the SEAT Leon ST CUPRA 280, which is a very special vehicle. The car has actually made a record-breaking time of 7:58.12 minutes at the Nürburgring. Seat is also displaying a total of five impressive variants from the Leon range at the meeting in Austria.

The record was made with a standard front-wheel-drive production estate with manual transmission, but equipped with Performance Pack. The person behind the wheel was company’s brand ambassador Jordi Gene, who praised the vehicle.

One of the best things about this car is that it benefits from a Limited Front Slip Differential and a six-speed manual gearbox. This ensures a secure grip on various types of roads. The Cupra is currently showed painted in Blanco Nevada and equipped with the “Black” Performance Pack.

Eye-catching are the entry sills at the front, rear side spoilers and the 19-inch alloy wheels painted in high-gloss black. Running on those alloys the model is also fitted with Brembo high-performance braking system and body-colour side skirts.

This perfectly complements the sporty character of the engine, which pumps out 280 hp! The car can be also optionally equipped with Seat’s highly innovative assistance systems.

Tij-Power Tunes Seat Leon 5F Cupra

Tij-Power Seat Leon 5F Cupra is a project that needs our attention. Tij-Power is a tuning company based in Germany, which is very well known for its intensive focus on the Seat Leon. The subtle adjustments and modifications made match perfectly the general setting of this car. In fact, the improvements made appear like a consistent progression. The suspension has been optimized with Plug & Play Coilovers from KW. They feature a rebound and compression stage, which can be set to pre-adjusted settings: Comfort, Sport or Cupra.

These settings can be reached by the DDC system in the cockpit. The Comfort setting delivers almost hover-like feeling, the Sport setting adjusts the steering sensitivity and offers direct feedback of the terrain, while in the Cupra mode, the car evolves to a true racecar.

This modified Seat runs on lightweight OZ Superturismo LM rims in grey finish which come in the size of 8.×19 at the front and 9.5×19 in the rear. They are matched with 235/35-19 tires. Next, this new Cupra was fitted with a tricky exhaust system. Once the pedal hits the floor and the throttle valve is fully opened, the car produces a mighty roar.

This is accompanied by an infernal sound, which escapes from the hand-welded 76 mm exhaust that begins right after the turbo charger. Tij-Power even says that this sound will remind one of racecars

Of course, there will be no full customization without changing engine’s parameters. The tuners substituted stock’s intercooler with performance part from Forge. In addition, thanks to the Tij-Power software, the car now yields the breath-taking 375 horsepower (276 kW) and 489 Nm (361 lb-ft) of torque. These numbers result in a top speed of 290 kilometers per hour.

SEAT Leon CUPRA 280 Gets Sub8 Performance Pack

SEAT has launched Sub8 Performance Pack as well as two coloured exterior packs – Black-Line and White-Line for the Leon CUPRA 280. The cars will be available with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and CUPRA bucket seats. The storming CUPRA 280 became the first front-wheel-drive vehicle which was capable of dipping under the eight-minute Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time. The optional Sub8 Performance Pack features more substantial brakes, specially-designed 19-inch alloy wheels in either black or orange and body-coloured side skirts.

The brake discs measured at 370 mm provide enough stopping power in keeping with the car’s potency, and are 30mm larger than those on the standard car. They also feature Brembo four piston callipers. Furthermore, the CUPRA 280’s electronically-controlled limited slip differential offers impressive levels of grip. Leon CUPRA 280 is five-door car, which on one hand is capable of up to 44.1 mpg, while on the other hand it can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in only 5.7 seconds.

CUPRA Black-Line and White-Line exterior packs also debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. They were designed to add an extra dose of Latin flair to the Leon flagship. These two shades will be initially available, with more packs to be introduced in the future. Such is the Orange-Line, which will be launched in December.

Precisely, they include CUPRA 19-inch alloy wheels, door mirrors, CUPRA tailgate lettering and front grille surround, and black rear side spoilers. Rounding out the array of option additions for the Leon CUPRA 280 are the special bucket seats. The front seats include one-piece head restraint and are wrapped in black Alcantara with simil leather bolsters and white accents, with embossed CUPRA logo.

JE Design Seat Leon Cupra Wide Body Kit

After the revealing of a “normal” tuning program for the ultra-hot hatchback – Seat Leon Cupra 280, JE Design has now unveiled a new styling project based on the same model. The wide body kit for Leon Cupra 280 gives it a unique appearance and unique stance.

The aerodynamics package includes a new three-piece front bumper, a pair of extended wheel arches and big carbon fiber side skirts. There is also a modified rear bumper with a sporty diffuser housing a new sports exhaust system with twin tailpipes with dimensions 105 x 85 millimeters. The price for the complete package is €6,188.

The exterior is finished in an optional graphite matte complete wrapping with spoiler lip, grille frame, mirror caps, air outlet struts and wheel rims in contrasting red. This procedure will cost additional €3,570.

Other highlights include LED rain light from Formula 1 (€250), KW coilover suspension DCC Plug & Play (€2,299), and last but not least a set of Je Design Y-Spoke alloy wheels in size 9.5J x 19” fitted with Dunlop Sport Maxx GT tires – 255/30 R19 (€2,052).

KW 2014 Seat Leon Cupra – Adaptive DDC Coilovers

KW Automotive is now offering DDC plug&play coilovers specially developed for cars with electronic suspension damping. The KW plug&play kits work in perfect harmony with the OEM control.

The adaptive KW DDC suspension systems are compatible with a variety of cars with electronic damping control and the tuning specialists now offer a set for the ex- King of the Ring – 2014 Seat Leon Cupra 280.

The adaptive DCC suspension control (Dynamic Chassis Control) is an integral part of the standard equipment on selected “sports” Seat models such as the Leon Cupra and can be chosen as an option on the rest of the range.

“When installing the KW DDC coilovers, the original struts simply have to be replaced by the KW stainless steel coilovers”, commented KW Product Manager Johannes Wacker.

“Afterwards, each damper only has to be connected with the Seat on-board electronics via the compatible KW plug-in connection. It’s really easy!”, he added.

The KW DDC plug&play coilover kit uses dirt-resistant KW trapezoid thread on the stainless steel struts and on the rear axle height adjusters, meaning the Seat Leon can be varied in ground clearance by the millimeter. The German TÜV tested adjustment range allows a continuous lowering of 35 to 65 mm on both axles.

JE Design Seat Leon Cupra – 350HP and 440Nm

JE Design has unveiled their latest project based on the “King of the Ring” – Seat Leon Cupra 280. The ultra-hot hatchback comes with a number of styling upgrades and a significant power increase.

The 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine is boosted to 350HP (258 kW) and 440Nm (324 lb-ft) of torque – an increase of 70HP and 60Nm. 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited. The result is thanks to only an ECU re-map and the car still fulfills the EURO 6 emissions standard. The price is €1,899.

Other performance upgrades include KW coilover suspension DCC Plug & Play – €2,299. The ride height can be adjusted according to driver’s needs, but not lower than 45 mm. Alternatively, lowering springs for original shock absorbers are offered. They provide approximately 35 mm of additional depth, and are also suitable for DCC – €236.

JE Design also offers a full sports exhaust system featuring twin tailpipes – each with diameter of 80 mm. The system, which comes with EC approval, costs €2,023. Those who choose real carbon tail pipes will pay €2,392.

Aerodynamics package features a new front spoiler – €417 and side skirts in carbon look – €357. Last, but not least is the set of Y-Spoke JE Design wheels – 8.5J x 19” ET 45 fitted with 235/35 R19 performance tires – €1,851.

Eibach Adds Pro-Kits To Seat Leon Cupra

Eibach Seat Leon Cupra is equipped with tuning company’s suspension components which make the car even more dynamic. The Leon Cupra is in fact one of the most powerful cars in its sector, delivering 280 horsepower (205 kW). It is also famous for its dynamics. The proof for this is from the most recent lap record that the Spanish hatchback made (in its class) on the famous Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. However, the professionals at Eibach saw more fine-tuning potential here.

The modifications offered by them are through several Pro-Kits. Namely they are: the basic Pro-Kit, B12 Pro-Kit, Pro-Street-S, Anti-Roll-Kit and the Pro-Spacer. The first one offers additional performance springs, which reduce Seat’s centre of gravity. This of course also contributes towards a lower to the ground silhouette and more dynamic handling.

Next, the Eibach B12 Pro-Kit builds on the first one but also includes specially adapted Bilstein monotube gas-pressure shock absorbers. Eibach Pro-Street-S features Coil-Overs with stainless-steel components and the option for an individual height adjustment.

The Anti-Roll-Kit comprises of performance sway bars and offers less body roll and an even sportier set-up. It can be combined with the previous kits. At last, the Eibach Pro-Spacer Wheel Spacers are made of aluminum. They lend the Seat Leon an more energetic look by widening the track width.

2014 Seat Leon Cupra 280 DSG – Nurburgring Record – 7 minutes and 58 seconds

The new 2014 Seat Leon Cupra 280 DSG managed to smash the Nurburgring lap record for a FWD (front wheel drive) car. The hot hatchback managed to do a lap in under 8 minutes, which makes it the first FWD production model below that barrier.

The current record was held by Renault Megane RS Trophy, which stopped the clock at 8 minutes and 8 seconds, but the new Cupra 280 needed just 7 minutes and 58.4 seconds.

2014 Seat Leon Cupra 280 is powered by a 2.0 liter TFSI engine with 280HP (206 kW) and 350Nm (259 lb-ft) of torque at 1,750RPM. 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited. It is able to return 44.1 mpg UK with CO2 emissions of 155 g/km.

Other highlights include a DSG double clutch gearbox and an optional Performance Pack that includes Brembo high-performance brakes, specially designed 19” alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

There is also a mechanical front axle differential lock, a progressive steering system, DCC dynamic chassis control and two-stage deactivation of the electronic stability control (ESC).
