  • CUPRA Terramar

Against the backdrop of the America’s Cup, one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, CUPRA unveils the new CUPRA Terramar, the brand’s new hero for a new era. The sporty SUV moves CUPRA upmarket into the hotspot of the fastest growing segment in Europe as part of the brand’s biggest ever product offensive following the recent launches of the new CUPRA Leon, Formentor, Born VZ and Tavascan.

“With the CUPRA Terramar, we will not only grow our portfolio of products but at the same time help our brand to “grow-up” by bringing CUPRA upmarket, to new customers and new growing segments, without, however, losing our rebellious and challenger spirit.” said Wayne Griffiths, CEO of CUPRA. “A car that reinforces CUPRA today as a brand that is more mature, more confident in its direction, and more certain in its identity than ever before, without ever compromising on a rebellious spirit and authenticity.”

To date, CUPRA has delivered around 700,000 vehicles and the brand recently extended its record-breaking journey, registering the best first half year in its history by delivering 125,700 cars, an increase of 17.2% compared to the same period in 2023 (107,300).

CUPRA Terramar: the new hero of a new era

The CUPRA Terramar embraces the brand’s new design language, with a bold and confident look. The new sporty SUV features the iconic three triangle signature, with CUPRA Matrix LED Ultra, with High-Definition Technology.

The front exterior design is extenuated as the grille gives way to the performance-oriented functional lower mouth, suggestive of sports cars. The sporty proportions skip from the front of the SUV to the side, with sweeping lines that shift from the front across the side to heighten the SUV’s sense of performance.

As the eye moves to the CUPRA Terramar’s rear design, its wide proportions give the SUV a strong presence, with the integrated and illuminated CUPRA logo positioned centrally between the rear lights along with the Terramar name illuminated. The rear diffuser contrasts with the other elements of the design helping to lighten its proportions, giving it a defiant character.

The CUPRA Terramar will be available in nine exterior colours, including two matt options –Century Bronze Matt and Enceladus Grey Matt, as well as the Dark Void, inspired by the plasma colour of the CUPRA DarkRebel Showcar.

The interior reinterprets sportiness with a driver-oriented cockpit enhanced by the design of the centre console. It also embraces sustainability with bucket seats wrapped in its central areas either with textile created from 100% upcycled SEAQUAL® YARN, Dinamica with at least 73% recycled textile or leather that uses a plant-based tanning process.

Digitalisation is at the centre of the driver’s focus with a newly designed HMI implemented in the digital cockpit, as well as in the 12.9” infotainment system with a retro-illuminated slider. In addition, CUPRA continues its collaboration with the audio experts of Sennheiser mobility, integrating a high-fidelity 12-speaker sound system.

The CUPRA Terramar brings together the possibilities of combustion and electrification with five different powertrains across three technologies: TSI (petrol), eTSI (mild hybrid) and the new generation of plug-in hybrid (e-HYBRID) engines, delivering from 150PS to 272PS. Driving dynamics is enhanced thanks to the standard sport suspension and progressive steering, as well as the new adaptative chassis control and Akebono brakes.

Designed and developed in Barcelona, the CUPRA Terramar will be produced in Audi’s Györ plant in Hungary. Deliveries will start during the last quarter of this year.

  • Cupra DarkRebel Concept

CUPRA has revealed its virtual sports car, the CUPRA DarkRebel, which pushes the limits of automotive design. The car embodies the performance and emotion of the unconventional brand and is the first show car presented through CUPRA’s Metahype space in the metaverse. CEO Wayne Griffiths stated that the CUPRA DarkRebel represents the ultimate expression of their vision after five years of building the brand. The car showcases CUPRA’s DNA to the maximum without any constraints, provoking a dialogue about design instead of following a predictable process.

    Design with unfiltered CUPRA DNA

The CUPRA DarkRebel is a virtual sports car that combines the athletic proportions of a sports car with a shooting brake architecture, characterized by sharp lines.

It has a sharp and radical front end with a long arrow-shaped bonnet, providing maximum feeling of speed. The cabin is pushed to the rear to create attractive proportions.

The car features a new approach to the brand’s iconic triangular light signature emerging from the body, and a central spine connecting the front and rear, providing the core of the skeleton for the all-electric sports car.

The CUPRA DarkRebel has progressive bucket seats, a gamified steering wheel, and shifter, making it a driver-oriented car that connects human and machine.

This fully virtual sports car is designed for a new dimension where pushing the limits, desire, and emotion are the brand’s driving force.

    Hyper Configurator

CUPRA breaks free from the limitations of physical reality with the CUPRA DarkRebel, exploring new dimensions to enhance the experience. This virtual sports car takes advantage of the potential of the virtual world to increase creativity, imagination and sensations.

To offer a way to exercise creativity without physical constraints, CUPRA has designed the Hyper Configurator, a virtual lab where users can experiment with colors, materials and finishes in various virtual environments. By offering an unparalleled degree of freedom, users can create their own versions of the CUPRA DarkRebel, which will influence the design of the final physical model that CUPRA will unveil in the future.

The Hyper Configurator adjusts the car’s attributes and surroundings dynamically based on the user’s degree of realism or imagination. Effects such as colors, graphics and visual features can all be manipulated. This way, the CUPRA Tribe can interact and create their unique designs that could become part of the future physical model.

Users can choose between three environments – Exponential square, Exponential cube, and Exponential infinite, in which they can transform the show car and create their very own CUPRA DarkRebel:

    • Exponential square: where the CUPRA Tribe can live the raw values of CUPRA design. Inspired by natural elements like minerals and stones, here the user can experience and challenge CUPRA’s raw textures and earthy colours in the Hyper Configurator.
    • Exponential cube: for those that have a soft spot for the racing world. Here, users can experiment with the digital aesthetic of a neon-like glow, algorithmic movements, parametric geometries, and fluorescent lights. Sleek and vibrant, orthogonal, and fluid at same time.
    • Exponential ∞: the highest level of Exponentiality disconnects from reality and embraces a dreamlike, otherworldly, and surreal universe with no constraints from the physical world. The environment and material choices are dominated by an ethereal feel creating a fully realised metaverse.

After finishing their configuration in the Hyper Configurator, users can share a video of their one-of-a-kind CUPRA DarkRebel.

The DarkRebel’s distinctive design and advanced technology are sure to make it an attention-grabbing statement car.

Stay updated as the physical CUPRA DarkRebel Showcar will be revealed soon, incorporating the user configurations to shape the car’s final design.

  • A new benchmark in the performance SUV category: CUPRA Formentor prices and specifications announced

    CUPRA Formentor1

CUPRA has announced final specifications and pricing for the first vehicle designed specifically for the brand, the Formentor coupé SUV, as the order books open.

The new flagship model, which delivers high-performance thanks to the 2.0-litre TSI 310PS 4Drive engine, accelerates from 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds, costs £39,830 on-the-road. Alternatively, customers can purchase the 310PS Formentor VZ2 from £399 per month on Solutions Personal Contract Plan (PCP).

Formentor has been curated to include a long equipment list as standard across six highly-specified trims, named V1, V2, VZ1, VZ2, VZ3 and VZ Edition. As standard on V1 trim, customers get 18-inch alloy wheels, 12-inch infotainment touchscreen with connected navigation, 10-inch digital driver binnacle, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, Adaptive Cruise Control, wireless smartphone charger, a leather steering wheel and rear parking sensors, all as standard. The name VZ comes from the word ‘Veloz’ in Spanish, translating as ‘Speed’ or ‘Fast’.

To ensure CUPRA remains accessible to all, Formentor is available with a 150PS TSI engine, either with a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. Prices will start from £27,300* for the 150PS TSI manual V1 model.

On average, CAP HPI predicts Formentor will retain 44 per cent of its value during the course of typical ownership, on a par with established premium brands.

    Engine line-up
The CUPRA Formentor engine line-up is comprised of five outputs, all of which are RDE2 certified. The 1.5-litre TSI engine is available as a 150PS while the 2.0-litre TSI will be offered as a 190PS.

For drivers that want the dramatic design of a CUPRA with eco-conscious performance, the Plug-in Hybrid Variant will be available. A 1.4-litre TSI 150PS (110kW) petrol engine is paired to a 115PS (85kW) electric motor, powered by a 13kWh lithium-ion battery pack, can be tuned to either 204PS or 245PS. The eHybrid has a predicted electric-only range of 31miles (50km).

Both the 1.5-litre and 1.4-litre plug-in variants will be available to order in the UK from quarter one 2021.

At the top of the range is the 2.0-litre TSI DSG-auto 4Drive model, generating 310PS of peak power and 400Nm of torque.

Formentor has been designed and engineered to deliver a performance-orientated drive, delivered, in part, by the front MacPherson struts and multi-link rear suspension set-up to enable the intuitive dynamic response required during enthusiastic driving.

The new CUPRA coupé SUV also features Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC)***, which constantly monitors the road surfaces and driver inputs and makes imperceptible changes to guarantee surefootedness in any condition while delivering the most engaging drive. The DCC slider gives even more control over the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle, changing not only the damping force level of the shock absorber but the chassis controller setting too.

The 4Drive models utilise an electro-hydraulic multi-disc traction system that analyses road conditions in real time delivering power to the wheels with the most traction. Torque can even be controlled across the axle thanks to the EDS electronic aid, which locks the slipping wheel, meaning no transversal torque is lost. The system is integrated into the rear axle and sits at the end of the drive shaft in front of the rear differential, improving weight distribution and reducing inertia and reaction time, meaning the new CUPRA Formentor provides surefootedness behind the wheel.

Model CO2 (g/km, WLTP) Fuel econ. (mpg, WLTP) On-the-road price
    Formentor VZ2 TSI DSG-auto 4Drive 310PS 193 31.4-33.2 £39,830
