  • M&D Designs Camouflaged Mercedes-Benz CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth

2016 M&D Mercedes-Benz CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth Side ViewM&D Mercedes-Benz CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth is a fresh project in midst of the Geneva Motor Show turmoil. The ‘Stealth’ CLS is dressed in camouflage colours, but this isn’t its only asset. It features also a lot more power than its standard one, and one-off optic exterior kit coming directly from Prior-Design.

    Exterior Tweaks

Speaking of the exterior tuning, it was the first to be “added” to this ‘Stealth’ project. The body kit included here is called PD550 Black Edition and comprises of a new front bumper that features CLS 63 AMG driving lights, new air intakes, front wings, side skirts, rear bumper with integrated diffuser and a bootlid spoiler.

Immediately grabbing the attention is the bespoke foil wrap finish that mimics the US military style. The ‘Stealth’ wrapping uses a matt white base, on top of which angular elements in Matt Charcoal and Matt Black are combined to form an effective Urban Camouflage. A low-key effect is achieved via bright orange accents, which come out from the monochromatic background.

2016 M&D Mercedes-Benz CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth Side and Rear View

So far, so good. At the rear we see that the diffuser is flanked by the quad exhaust tailpipes that were taken directly from the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series and come in black powder coat. They are also attached to the custom OE exhaust system. And by the way, the V8 sound that comes out from the Black Series tailpipes originates from the bi-turbo 4.7 litre unit with its two-tone engine cover in graphite grey and Lamborghini Orange metallic.

    Engine ECU Boost

Custom ECU tuning by M & D was given to the powerplant and the results are impressive. The stock 408 hp (306 kW) output was raised to 498 hp (366 kW), while the torque jumped from 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) to around 740 Nm (546 lb-ft). The top speed limiter was also removed and now exceeds the factory 250 km/h.

    Wheels & Suspension

    2016 M&D Mercedes-Benz CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth Wheels

Filling out the arches of the special CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth are the in-house made two-piece Rennen Forged RL17 forged alloys that come in size of 20-inches. They are shod with 245/30R20 and 295/25R20 Hankook Ventus S1 Evo tyres. The rim surface of the wheels features a brushed alloy texture with a unique ‘Smoke’ paint finish. Behind the wheels spokes appear huge Brembo brake calipers painted Lamborghini metallic orange.  At last, M&D’s Airmatic suspension electronic lowering module rounds out this truly unique project.

  • 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS and CLS Shooting Brake

Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the updated 2015 CLS Coupe and CLS Shooting Brake. Both models come with impressive design and a number of technologies. There are a lot of upgrades for the exterior as well as the interior. The extremely powerful and efficient engines bring additional joy and driving pleasure.

The most important feature are the all-new Multibeam LED headlights. They feature 24 individually-controlled LEDs automatically adjusted 100 times per second by using a camera and four control units. The innovative technology can detect oncoming vehicles and automatically adjust the light beam, so the drivers won’t be affected. The headlights can also detect upcoming bends and illuminate them ahead of time while the navigation system will detect roundabouts, which will make the headlights to provide optimal visibility.

    The engine range includes a 2.1 liter four-cylinder diesel for CLS 220 BlueTEC – 170HP (125 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft). The same engine produces 204HP (150 kW) and 500Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque for the CLS 250 BlueTEC. There is also a 3.0 liter V6 diesel with 258HP (190 kW) and 620Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque – CLS 350 BlueTEC.

    The petrol range features the new CLS 400 (replacing the CLS 350 CGI) – 3.5 liter V6 bi-turbo – 333HP (245 kW) and 480Nm (354 lb-ft), which is 26HP and 110Nm more. The CLS 500 has 408HP (300 kW) and 600Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque, while the extremely powerful CLS 63 AMG model is powered by a 5.5 liter bi-turbo V8 with either 557HP (410 kW) and 720Nm (533 lb-ft) or 585HP (430 kW) and 800Nm (593 lb-ft). All engines comply with EURO6 regulations.

Available as an option is the new 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission (for the CLS 220 BlueTEC, CLS 250 BlueTEC, CLS 350 BlueTEC or CLS 500). It promises to slash fuel consumption while “enhancing shift comfort and agility”.

  • Fostla Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 CDI W218

Fostla has revealed their latest project based on Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 CDI W218. The stylish four-door coupe comes with both – styling and performance upgrades.

The exterior boasts a complete Prior-Design PB550 Black Edition aerodynamics package including new front and rear bumpers as well as new side skirts and rear wing. All parts are made from carbon fiber for maximum strength and lightweight. The ride is lowered thanks to a lowering module which is controlled using a steering wheel. The body is wrapped with PWF-foil in Bond-Gold-Matt-Metallic color, which underlines not only the elegant lines of the vehicle, but gives a unique look. Last, but not least – the discs, the headlights and the rear lights are also tinted.

The 3.0 liter V6 diesel is boosted to 310HP (228 kW) and 700Nm (519 lb-ft) – an increase of 45HP and 80Nm. The performance package is provided by PP-Performance and really “revives” the big car. 0-100 km/h in under 6.0 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited. The fuel consumption is not harmed – 6.1 liters / 100 km on combined cycle.

Other highlights include CVT Vossen alloy wheels powder coated in matt gold – 9J x 20” at the front and 10.5J x 20” at the rear fitted with corresponding low-profile tires. Finally, the special mention is for quad exhaust tailpipes taken directly from Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series. The price for the entire package is decent – €16,000 (considering all upgrades, it is a real bargain).

  • Vorsteiner Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Photo Shoot

Vorsteiner-Mercedes-Benz-CLS-63-AMG-shadowVorsteiner-Mercedes-Benz-CLS-63-AMG-mediumVorsteiner’s Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG came out quite some time ago. Apparently, customer response was good because the project is still alive and kicking.

Hence, this gorgeous photo shoot of a black CLS 63 AMG wearing the same Vorsteiner suit. Actually,  “suit” is a massive overstatement. Maybe its the discrete nature of the thing that made it has made it popular among gear heads. There isn’t much on the CLS apart from the front add-on spoiler, rear diffuser, and decklid spoiler. The exposed carbon-fiber is a nice touch though.

We weren’t sure at first, but our team of forensic scientists and IT experts…erm… zoomed in on some of the pictures and concluded that the wheels on this CLS 63 AMG, at the time of the photo shoot, were from Vorsteiner’s VS-160 line, presumably 20 inches in diameter.

Nothing else to talk about really. Still, no better way to wrap up the day with some eye candy, right?

Recently Vorsteiner released a yet another photo shoot of a previous project of theirs. Wonder how long are they going to keep this up and deprave us from new stuff.

  • BRABUS B63S 730 Based on Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG

Brabus has presented the super powerful B63S – 730 package for Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Coupe and Shooting Brake.

The performance package boost the 5.5 liter bi-turbo V8 to 730HP (537 kW) at 5,300RPM and 1,065Nm (785 lb-ft) of torque at 1,750RPM. 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 10.8 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph). The engine is mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission sending the power to BRABUS multi-disc limited-slip rear differential with a locking rate of 40%.

To further optimize directional stability well into the regions beyond 300 km/h (187 mph), the BRABUS designers went into the wind tunnel to develop a front spoiler for both body styles of the CLS 63 AMG. The aerodynamic-enhancement component attaches to the underside of the front fascia and reduces lift on the front axle.

All components are manufactured from especially light yet high-strength genuine carbon fibers for a full-blooded racing look, and are available with a matt or high-gloss surface finish.

The exclusive BRABUS appearance for the new CLS 63 AMG is also in part courtesy of the BRABUS Monoblock wheels with diameters of 19” and 20”. The latest innovation in the BRABUS wheel family is the BRABUS Monoblock R “Platinum Edition” forged wheel that combines lightweight construction and maximum strength.

The largest tires supplied by BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA for the 20” alloys come in size 255/30 ZR 20 for the 9J x 20” wheels on the front axle and in size 295/25 ZR 20 for the 10.5J x 20” wheels in the rear.

Exclusive interior design that fulfills any customer request is a BRABUS specialty that comes to life in the company upholstery shop. The lineup for the CLS 63 AMG ranges from attractive accessories to custom-tailored interiors crafted from especially soft, breathable and yet highly durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara.

Scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo, a speedometer with 400-km/h dial (250 mph) and rear-seat tables attached to the backs of the front seats add custom highlights as do the markedly sporty aluminum components such as pedal pads, door lock pins and shift paddles for the steering wheel.

Also available for the top-of-the-line CLS model is a custom-tailored BRABUS multimedia concept – including optional Apple iPad integration.

  • Carlsson Mercedes-Benz CLS CK63 RSR – Top Speed 340km/h

Carlsson has presented their latest tuning project based on the new Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG. The four-door coupe comes with both – styling and performance modifications.

The CLS 63 AMG is powered by a 5.5 liter bi-turbo V8 with 557HP (410 kW) at 5,500RPM and 720Nm (533 lb-ft) of torque at 1,750RPM. 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds for the RWD versions and just 3.7 seconds for the 4Matic AWD models. Carlsson boosts the engine to 700HP (515 kW) at 5,700RPM and 1000Nm (741 lb-ft) of torque at 2,000RPM. With the new power, the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, to 200 km/h in 11.6 seconds and has a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph).

The CK63 RSR uses a specially developed high performance stainless steel sports exhaust incorporating 200-cell metal catalytic converters to further reduce back-pressure. This exhaust system also incorporates an electronically controlled sound valve, giving the driver the choice of a near standard sound level for civilized progress through urban areas, or a full-on, snarling muscle car V8 experience at the touch of a button.

The suspension comes with bespoke height adjustable coil-overs with 10-position bounce and rebound adjustment to cover road or track use. The car is normally set 30mm lower than standard for road use, and the front track has been widened by 25mm with spacers for better turn-in and stability in the bends.

The elegant and sporty one-piece Carlsson 1/10 alloy wheels come in a choice of 19” or 20” diameters. The brakes are also modified – 405 mm diameter vented discs clamped by 6-pot calipers fitted with their heavy-duty brake pads in front. The rear brakes are standard AMG, with uprated pads

The exterior boasts Carlsson RS carbon-fibre front spoiler lip, black stainless steel mesh inserts in the intake grilles, brake cooling intakes, and rear carbon valance insert. A new feature over the RS version is the electrically retractable rear spoiler, which extends into the airflow automatically at 100km/h, with manual activation possible at any speed. Its size and angle of attack have been wind tunnel tested to reduce lift and drag in combination with the underbody rear diffuser.

The interior features finest leather, Alcantara, carbon-fibre and natural wood, and exemplifies the uncompromising quality of Carlsson’s in-house trim department.  There are also Carlsson interior floor mats, polished aluminium sill plates with blue illuminated Carlsson logo, and aluminium door locking pins.

  • 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG

Mercedes-Benz has presented the new 2013 CLS 63 AMG – Coupe and Shooting Brake variants. The high-performance luxurious vehicles have unmatched performance and complete the AMG line-up.

“The S-Models in particular represent the most attractive proposition in the segment,” commented Ola Källenius, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

“With its superlative power and torque ratings and the new performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the CLS 63 AMG is without parallel in its Coupe and Shooting Brake variants. Our AMG 5.5-litre V8 engine remains the most efficient series production V8 engine in the world. The new, customised model variants provide greater scope than ever for individual solutions.”, he added.

The world premiere of the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake took place at the “Night of the Stars” at the Formula 1 German Grand Prix in July 2012. This unique high-performance vehicle from AMG is a fascinating new embodiment of an innovative vehicle concept. The CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake combines performance with style and utility value as a highly appealing alternative for design-oriented automobile enthusiasts. In essence it represents an unprecedented embodiment of a sports car with five seats and a large tailgate.

    Mercedes CLS 63 AMG is powered by a 5.5 liter bi-turbo V8 with 557HP (410 kW) at 5,500RPM and 720Nm (533 lb-ft) of torque at 1,750RPM. 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds for the RWD versions and just 3.7 seconds for the 4Matic AWD models. There is even faster option – CSL 63 AMG 4Matic S – 585HP (430 KW) and 800Nm (593 lb-ft). The acceleration is sensational – 3.6 seconds to 100 km/h.

All models come with AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. It offers four modes – “C” (Controlled Efficiency), “S” (Sport), “S+” (Sport plus) and “M” (Manual). An automatic double-declutching function for downshifting and the RACE START function are also included as standard with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission.
The performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive distributes the engine torque at a ratio of 33% to 67% (front/rear axle). The 3-stage ESP has been tailored specifically to the permanent AWD system.

The CLS 63 AMG S-Model sees Mercedes-AMG going one step further. True to the “Driving Performance” philosophy, a differential lock is fitted on the rear axle. This high-tech package results in a further increase in traction, ultimately leading to even greater driving dynamics and enhanced driving enjoyment, especially on the race track.

All CLS 63 AMG models feature the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with electronically controlled damping system.

The CLS 63 AMG is fitted as standard with triple-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels painted in titanium grey and featuring a high-sheen finish. Tyres in size 255/35 R 19 are fitted to 9.0J x 19” wheels at the front and 10J x 19” rear wheels have 285/30 R 19 tyres. Only the high-performance S-Model features exclusive 10-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in matt titanium grey with a high-sheen rim flange.

AMG ceramic high-performance compound brake system is available as an option. It includes 402 mm discs, 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rears.

In terms of exterior design, the CLS 63 AMG S-Model is differentiated from the other models by brake callipers in a red painted finish and the AMG logo on the trunk lid sporting an “S” in contrasting black.

The interior of the S-Model features grey contrasting stitching on the AMG sports seats, the door centre panels, the door armrests and the centre console. Silver seat belts are also on board in conjunction with a black interior. The rim of the AMG Performance steering wheel in black nappa leather is flattened at the top and bottom and boasts grip areas in Alcantara® and grey contrasting stitching. The front head restraints of the AMG sports seats incorporate exclusive embossed AMG emblems. The AMG instrument cluster in a new design features an “S AMG” logo on the 320 km/h speedometer and red applications. AMG door sill panels illuminated in white round off the exclusive range of equipment and appointments.

A very special highlight among the optional equipment and appointments for all CLS variants is the Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG high-end surround sound system. The sound system includes 14 high-end loudspeakers – total output of 1200 Watts.

  • Brabus 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake

The new Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake has arrived! And like the first CLS that created a market for four-door coupes, the new five-door model redefines the sporty-elegant wagon. The exclusive final touch in the form of a sophisticated refinement program is now available from BRABUS.

The extensive product lineup starts with sporty-elegant aerodynamic-enhancement components for all Shooting Brake models with or without AMG sport package, and features custom-tailored BRABUS wheels with diameters of up to 20″. Also part of the BRABUS portfolio are exclusive interior options and engine tuning that delivers up to 619HP (455 kW) of power, 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque and a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph).

Sporty-elegant styling paired with aerodynamic efficiency is the trademark of all BRABUS body kits. As always, the body components for the new CLS Shooting Brake were developed in the wind tunnel. They are manufactured from flexible Pur-R-Rim high-grade plastics or from carbon fibers depending on the version.

The CLS 250 and 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY diesel models and the CLS 350 and 500 BlueEFFICIENCY with production aerodynamics outfit can be upgraded with the BRABUS front spoiler, the BRABUS front fascia attachments with integrated LED daytime running lights, the sport fenders and the BRABUS side skirts with integrated entrance lights.

For vehicles equipped with AMG sport package BRABUS offers a striking BRABUS front spoiler lip that attaches to the underside of the front fascia. The CLS 63 AMG can be refined with an additional front spoiler and fender attachments with backlit BRABUS logo. Their clear-coated carbon-fiber construction lends the sport wagon full-blooded racing looks.

BRABUS Monoblock wheels in sizes ranging from 8.5J x 17″ to 10.5J x 20″ also play a major role in the exclusive BRABUS looks of the new CLS Shooting Brake. The OEM-quality alloy wheels are available in six different designs. The most exclusive version on offer features BRABUS Monoblock F, Q or R designs with a diameter of 20 inches. The latest addition to the wheel family is the BRABUS Monoblock R wheel with especially innovative design. Two sets of five double spokes are arranged in two plains. While the inner set of spokes is painted a “Liquid Titanium” shade, the outer spokes are diamond-polished and afterwards sealed with a smoke-colored clear lacquer, lending the wheel its very own character. The largest tires supplied by BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA for the 20-inch version come in size 255/30 ZR 20 in front and in size 295/25 ZR 20 for the rear axle.

The BRABUS suspension options are specifically calibrated to the use of sporty low-profile tires. They were developed in tandem with technology partner BILSTEIN. The lineup ranges from BRABUS sport springs to complete suspensions and the BRABUS suspension module that lowers the ride height of cars equipped with the semi-active AIRMATIC air suspension system by about 35 millimeters.

BRABUS offers the world’s largest program of performance tuning for Mercedes-Benz automobiles. The ECO PowerXtra D4 performance kit bumps the power output of the CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY by 31HP (23 kW) and boosts peak torque to 560 Nm (446 lb-ft).

For the CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY there is BRABUS ECO PowerXtra D6S tuning. Thanks to its plug-and-play design the auxiliary control unit can be installed by any authorized Mercedes-Benz workshop and any BRABUS center of competence in less than 45 minutes.

As a special feature this high-tech performance tuning system allows the driver to influence the power yield through the selection of the transmission program of the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic gearbox. In Eco mode only peak torque is increased, from standard 620 Nm to 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) between 1,600 and 2,400 rpm. This selection leaves the maximum power output unchanged. If sport mode is activated or gears are shifted manually, the increase in peak torque is accompanied by a boost in power output from 265HP (195 kW) to 313HP (230 kW) at a low 3,600 rpm. 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. Top speed is limited electronically to 250 km/h (155 mph).

It goes without saying that BRABUS performance tuning is also available for the gasoline-powered versions of the CLS Shooting Brake. The BRABUS B50 – 500 performance tuning was developed for the V8 Biturbo engine of the CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY. As the name indicates, this tuning kit produces  500HP (368 kW) and a peak torque of 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) and in conjunction with the BRABUS Vmax unit gives the wagon a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).

Two ultra-powerful tuning options are available for the top-of-the-line CLS 63 AMG model. Both BRABUS power upgrades for the 5.5-liter eight-cylinder Biturbo engine comprise an auxiliary control unit for the engine electronics and an additional water-to-air intercooler powered by an auxiliary electric pump. In both cases the lower temperature of the charge air benefits not only power yield but also engine longevity even under extreme operating conditions. After the installation of the BRABUS B63 – 620 version the driver commands 619HP (455 kW) of power at a low 5,500 rpms. Simultaneously peak torque grows from 900 to 1.000 Nm (663 to 737 lb-ft), on tap between 2,250 and 3,750 rpm. 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph) that the car attains in conjunction with the BRABUS V/max unit.

As an ideal complement to the engine tuning, BRABUS offers a sport exhaust system with butterfly valve for the CLS 63. At the push of a button on the steering wheel the driver can switch between a discrete and quiet “Coming Home” mode and “Sport,” which produces a decidedly sporty exhaust note. The stainless-steel exhaust system also adds some visual highlights with its two beautifully styled ceramic-coated dual tailpipes.

For all other CLS engines BRABUS offers fully stainless-steel quad sport exhaust systems. The precision-calibrated exhaust systems also optimize power yield and produce a sportier exhaust note.

A BRABUS clutch-type limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40% optimizes traction and handling in fast corners on all CLS versions.

All BRABUS engines are operated with MOTUL high-performance lubricants and like all BRABUS components are backed by the one-of-a-kind BRABUS limited tuning warranty of three years up to 100,000 kilometers / 62,000 miles (see BRABUS warranty conditions, updated November 2006).

Exclusive interior design that leaves nothing to be desired is yet another BRABUS specialty that comes to life in the company upholstery shop. The product lineup for the new Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake ranges from attractive accessories to custom-tailored interiors crafted from especially soft, breathable and highly durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara. Scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo, a speedometer with 340-km/h or 400-km/h dial (211 or 250 mph) and the tables for the rear compartment that attach to the back of the front seats add sporty highlights as do decidedly sporty aluminum components such as pedal pads, door-lock pins and shift paddles for the steering wheel. High-end clear-coated carbon-fiber inlays for dashboard and center console in any desired color are also part of the program as are wood inlays in any desired color and with any desired grain.

To top it all off, BRABUS offers a custom-tailored multimedia concept for the five-door CLS – including the integration of an Apple iPad if desired.
