Basically, every exterior component has undergone through comprehensive changes.

  • 2017 Civic Type R to be revealed! Here’s what we know so far!

2017 Honda Civic Type R It is here! And it is beautiful! And it is 100% Honda! The latest Civic Type R was revealed at this year’s Mondial de L’Automobile in Paris and showcased what Honda team has prepared for the upcoming 2017 model year. So, let’s waste no more time and see what this sweetie has to offer!

    What we know so far

    2017 Honda Civic Type R

Completely resembling the body proportions of the Civic body language, the new Type R builds solidly on that platform: there are some more muscles added, aerodynamic features and overall it expresses vast amount of aggressiveness and confidence.

The front catches the eye with massive bumper, enhancing carbon-fiber components and sweet sporty red line as a visual update. There is a new intaker on the bonnet, smoked lenses for the revised LED headlights and new air scoop placed centrally in a trapezoidal recess.

    2017 Honda Civic Type R

The sides continue this aggressive idea and incorporate straightforward lines, slight, yet powerfully-looking curves and overall clean design that contributes to the sporty appearance. Of course, the new 20-inch wheels in piano black are not only functional, but also completely resemble the nature of the vehicle. We like ‘em. And let’s not forget that sweet red line that was also present at the front: it is simple, clean and yet boosts that sporty appearance to its maximum.

SEE ALSO: It is here! Beautiful, passionate and powerful, it bears the name Honda Civic!

The rear-end. Now we are talking. Just look at it! Go ahead and look how powerful and massive it looks. Completely opposite to the side styling, the rear shows numerous details, curves and angles. Definitely vital for this expressive appearance is the spoiler and the mid-mounted exhaust pipes, one of which is finished in bright metallic red. And let’s not forget about the passionate red line.

    2017 Honda Civic Type R

The vehicle will be created within the same development programme as the rest of the Civic models and its massive production prototype will be revealed next year.

  • It is here! Beautiful, passionate and powerful, it bears the name Honda Civic!

    2017 Honda Civic Hatchback
So, finally it is here: the new tenth generation Honda Civic. Beautiful and agile as always, the latest family member will also try to be an innovative one. How? By doing what automobile industry has been doing for decades: indeed, showing new model every single year and saying every single time that THIS IS the best model. However, there are some sweet changes and tweaks that deserve attention. Let’s check ’em out!

    Exterior

    2017 Honda Civic Hatchback

It is distinctive and beautiful. We have to admit that. The whole body is a bit wider and longer, compared to predecessor models, but also lower. It expresses sharp and aggressive face, along with neat lines and curves. The front end demonstrates beautifully-shaped headlights, two grille grids and overall sporty expression.

The sides continue this concept of sportiness and dynamics: they got these sweet curves at the front and rear side, but at the middle we see sharp lines and overall clean looks. Definitely a stylish decision. Also, the new style of the wheels contribute to that contemporary and badass styling. The rear resembles the front-end with the dual-grille design and the neat taillights shapes. In fact, this taillight design is far more interesting the front lamps. Connected to each other via the sporty wing, the lamps do contribute to the aggressive styling and also bring some functionality: we are pretty sure that there are some new illumination technologies and improvements incorporated.

    Interior

    2017 Honda Civic Hatchback

The interior shows simple, yet functional layout, additional technological features and of course, high-quality materials. In fact, Honda team also claims that this is by far the most spacious cabin on a Civic vehicle. And we tend to believe: after all driver and passengers will be dealing with a 30mm longer wheelbase, which directly results on the width of the coupe. Also, the shoulder room is increased with 10mm, while the rear seat shoulder room is longer with a total of 20mm. Also, there is a total of 95mm of legroom for the rear seat occupants and 45mm additional space for knee clearance. Sweet.

In terms of technologies, the cabin is geared with all these usual features as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, large infotainment displays, navigation and neat 180-watt 11-speaker audio system. Nice.

    Drivetrain system and driver-assistive technologies

    2017 Honda Civic Hatchback

The latest Civic model comes with VTEC Turbo gasoline power unit lineup and features tons of drivetrain system improvements.

In fact, the Civic hatch is the first model feature brand’s 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit and the 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline turbocharged engine. The first engine delivers some sweet output power, measured at 200Nm of torque between 1,700rpm and 4,500rpm and 129hp (95kW) at 5,500rpm.

The second engine, the 1.5-liter variant offers a total of 182hp (134kW) at 5.500rpm and 240Nm of torque between 1.900 and 5.000rpm. Torque for the CVT variant is increased to 220Nm.

And the assistive gadgets? Buyers and drivers will be dealing with Honda Sensing suite that includes Collision Mitigation Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Assistance, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control.

2017 Honda Civic Hatchback side view

    Looking better than ever before!

The new model year Honda Civic Hatchback is set to arrive in the U.S. dealers this September! How exciting is that!? When this happens, the model will be the latest variant joining the renewed 10-generation line-up. Besides the striking Type R inspired appearance, the new version of the hatch will offer the convenience of five-doors, Civic’s renowned driving dynamics and company’s direct-injected turbo engine technology.

More importantly, this is the first time in these ten generations, when the Civic will be launched throughout the Unites States in its Hatchback form. So this is really big news! Since this is the sad reality, I’m sure that Americans will now plunge into the experience of driving this kind of car.

For the U.S. market the hatch will be offered in several trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Sport and Sport Touring. The first three trims will be powered by the 1.5-liter DOHC direct-injected turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder engine, which produces 174 horsepower (128 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb.-ft.) of torque. Even better, the latter two trims will be available with the same unit but uprated to 180 horsepower (132 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb.-ft.) of torque. Both trims will also feature high-flow center-mounted exhaust.

2017 Honda Civic Hatchback rear view

Not surprising at all is that the powerplant will be linked to either the CVT or the performance-inspired 6-speed manual transmission. Honda has also announced some preliminary details about the anticipated EPA fuel economy ratings: they are expected to be of 31/40/34 mpg (city/highway/combined) for CVT models.

Other Civic Hatch’s qualities are the lightweight body, updated chassis, independent suspension system with liquid filled bushings as well as the sport-tuned electronic power steering. There is of course more, which I’ll save for the original market debut. Well, just to tease you a bit, the new Civic will sport the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies.

But besides the market debut of the 2017 Civic Hatchback in the U.S., what’s even better is that the model will serve as the basis for the exhilarating new Civic Type-R launch next year.

Honda Civic RS Turbo Modulo side view

We have some sad news for all Honda Civic fans living in Europe and the United States. There is a brand new RS Turbo version currently going on sale in the Philippines. It is called Modulo and it not only looks great but we are sure that it feels fantastic driving it, too! The pack enhances the strength that the Civic has and further highlights its aggressive and sporty appearance.

To make you even more envious, the car will come with two engine variants. The first one, the optional, and it is the naturally-aspirated 1.8-litre unit, which is producing some whooping 141 HP (104 kW) and 171 Nm (126 lb-ft) of torque. The standard one is more powerful in terms of horses and torque, namely – the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo engine with 173 horsepower (127 kW) and 216 Nm (159 lb-ft) of torque. A CVT (continuously variable transmission) is sending the power to the front wheels in both cases.

The Modulo body kit emphasizes the innate beauty of the new generation Civic. What we have here are new front splitters, bigger side skirts and wider rear valance. New top-ends for the exhaust’s twin tailpipes are also at hand. The car runs on 17-inch wheels in either matt black or polished silver. Everything is rounded out by the Modulo badge at the front as well as the new tread plates.

Honda Civic RS Turbo Modulo costs approximately $30,000 USD. And if you wonder why it is so costly, there’s this little fact that’s called “taxes”, which seem to be extremely high in the Philippines.

In fact, not content with this time, Matt and his fellow team members decided to have another shot at the track and a month later they scored a lap time of 2 minutes and 31.85 seconds. Sweet.

Then, in early May, Honda team decided to have a try at the Spa-Franhorchamps circuit in Belgium. The well-known track, loved by many, was taken by Honda Racing member Rob Huff. He managed to set a time of 2 minutes and 56.91 seconds.

And before the last step at the Hugaroring, the Honda squad went to the historic Estoril with Tiago Monteiro for a ride. Sadly, there was a dramatic crash at the WTCC Race of Germany that put the Honda ace out of action, but just a day later, Bruno Correia, a well-known Portuguese racer scored a time of 2 minutes and 4.08 seconds.

  • Honda Adds New Sport Variant to the Civic Lineup

Honda Civic Sport Front ViewHonda has launched a brand new Sport variant to the popular Civic family. Precisely, the 1.4 i-VTEC Civic Sport will become the entry level product in the range, and will hit the UK showrooms next month. Yes, this is a brand new 1.4-litre petrol engine variant, which will accompany the 1.6-litre, 120 PS diesel unit and the 1.8-litre, 142 PS petrol engine in the line-up.

As you can see on the couple of pictures in the gallery below, the model has been styled more sporty and aggressively than the family hatchback. By the way, it seems that the design of this variant is closer to this of Type R!

Some of the styling cues that both models share, include color-coded rear spoiler and 17-inch alloys wheels, lower grille mesh and a black roof lining for the cabin. Therefore it is very easy to mistaken the Civic Type R with the Civic Sport, due to those design characteristics.

The advanced 1.4-litre i-VTEC SOHC (single overhead camshaft) is mated as a standard to a manual transmission. In terms of performance, the powertrain produces maximum power output of 100 PS (74 kW) and a torque of 127 Nm (94 lb-ft).

At the Geneva Motor Show this March, Honda unveiled the next generation Civic concept. It is due in showrooms in the beginning of 2017, when the Sport variant will become the entry level with the SE and SR grades.
