As a basis for the exceptional Carlsson Mercedes-Benz CK35 served the 2012 ML350 BlueTec model which in general is a very impressive vehicle. However, the tuners from the Bulgarian company Overdrive managed to make it even more exclusive by adding to the Carlsson modification its magical touch.
Basically, what they have done here is to add a magnifier in each headlight. When the latter is in regime “daylight” the magnifiers send out red beam. In addition, the tuning specialists have also mounted LED daylight running lights in the headlights.
Next, the original door handles and the rearview-mirrors were repainted in Black Piano Varnish. On the sunshades was embroidered “Carlsson” and for easier control, to this Mercedes-Benz was added a rear-view camera.
Nevertheless, let’s not forget that all of this is an additional tuning over the original one done by Carlsson. Its exterior package includes the following: addition for the front bumper with two chrome grills, additional headlights for fog and LED daylight running lights mounted in the bumper, central chrome grille with “Carlsson” badge, side doorsteps, addition for the rear bumper with diffusor, end muffler on the exhaust system with two tips.
At last but not least, to the ML350 was added also a power enhancement via ECU Programming performed by Kleemann. After it, the horsepower of this SUV was increased up to 320 (235 lb-ft) in comparison to the original 245 hp (180 lb-ft).
Carlsson has developed a unique race car based on Mercedes-Benz SLK. The name of the project is Carlsson SLK 340 JUDD.
The curb weight of the sports car is just 780kg, which is achieved thanks to an ultra-lightweight body kit made of carbon fiber. The aerodynamic components have been tested extensively, even in a wind tunnel, to connect a spectacular look with a perfect downforce.
“We developed the design over a long period of time and with lots of feeling. We are proud of the awesome look. As an engineer, it is a pleasure to contribute to such a project, and we can show everything that is technically possible in the vehicle in cooperation with Carlsson”, commented Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Markus Schuster, Managing Director of Carlsson Germany.
The engine is a 3.4 liter V8 with 610HP (449 kW) and 430Nm (319 lb-ft) of torque. The engine weighs just 120kg. The gearbox is a Hewland with a paddle shift.
A 3-way adjustable KW competition suspension ensures optimum road holding for the race car on BBS racing wheels – 10J x 18” front and 13J x 18” rear fitted with AVON tires. The brake system of ultralight materials saves additional weight. Maximum support and maximum safety are guaranteed by newly developed racing seats from Fibreworks.
Last, but not least a complex safety cage has been installed which meets all relevant international requirements.
I am always excited to announce a whenever there’s something new going on around the Bulgarian tuning company Vilner. Now, the fellows have made a major commitment in transforming three emblematic vehicles.
Namely the cars are Mercedes-Benz S500 by Carlsson, Audi S8 and Mercedes-Benz S63 by Brabus. In fact the last one is the only fully completed by Brabus Mercedes commissioned by Bulgarian.
Today, Vilner has given more details on the work done on the S500 Carlsson. More information around the other cars is expected very soon.
But to go further into details, the exceptional work on the S500 started with light touches on the back lights of the car. In addition, the front lights were further developed in order to keep the masterful presence. They are finished in matte black, black from and red accents.
Next, the tuners have given this Mercedes-Benz an alcantara roof, black shades and black alcanatra accent on the rearview mirror. The steering wheel has been also tweaked and now it looks more like one of S65.
Furthermore, they have installed a monitor on the center console and a digital TV tuner with MPEG4. The interior enhancements continue with the alcantara ceiling. In fact it was accentuated even more with black nappa leather with light gray stitching.
Carlsson has announced the CGL 45 Royal Last Edition. It is based on Mercedes-Benz GL-Class. The tuned SUV comes with a lot of upgrades including aerodynamics parts and performance modifications. Carlsson CGL 45 Royal Last Edition will be produced in limited series of just 30 units.
The exterior upgrades include rent chrome radiator grille with mesh inserts, along with the wider wheel arches, while in typical Carlsson style there are a couple of double light units as well as LED DRL on the front spoiler. The exclusive 22-inch alloy wheels come standard, too.
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CGL45 Royal Last Edition is powered by a 3.0 liter V6 diesel with 314HP (231 kW) and 698Nm (516 lb-ft), which an increase of 46HP and 80Nm over the stock. There’s also an upgrade program for the larger V8 5.5 liter petrol which can develop 441HP (324 kW) and 598 Nm (442 lb-ft).
“With our current eight exclusive partners in China, the Carlsson Carlsson CGL 45 Royal is in demand as a very last edition. All models are already sold, and we will achieve, despite the introduction of the new model the end of the year with a sales increase of 25% for a new Verkaufsbestwert Carlsson CGL45. “, commented Markus Schuster, CEO of Carlsson Autotechnik GmbH.
The Carlsson C25 is back to appear as a limited edition. And when we say limited, we mean only 7 numbered examples delivered delivered exclusively for the Chinese market. Numbers one to three and five to seven have already been pre-ordered. The idea behind this new incarnation is lightness, rigidity and handling for even more adrenaline packed action. Carlsson have summed up everything behind the term Super GT
So, what’s new about this one? Well, the engineers at Carlsson have managed to lose 180 kg of curb weight and still keep the engine. The overall carbon-fiber body might have something to do with that. Other than that, we have some minor face lifting at the front, some botox at the back and a newly styled rear window. Each Super GT will be customized in accordance with the buyer’s preferences – think in terms of color combinations and interior design.
The non-negotiable features are the really tasty ones – a 450 hp V8, an iPhone adjustable C-Tronic Suspension and a set of aluminum exhaust tips. As an option, the brakes can be of a temperature efficient, fading resistant composite.
The “number 1” Carlsson C25 Limited has already been built and will be airlifted to Shanghai in the coming days. It’s just a pity that it won’t make the journey on land with the Gut Wiesenhof in Merzig, Germany as a starting point. The other ones are yet to be hand-made but in an year’s time everything should be sold out. The price: 4,000,000 Chinese yuan which is around roughly $628,536.
What is there to tune on a smart ForTwo? It’s 2.70 meters long. There are mufflers longer than that. Well, Carlsson beg to differ. At this moment, in Geneva somewhere on a tiny stand sits this thing – the Carlsson ForTwo Coupe. It excels in aerodynamics (apparently), it benefits from a power boost, it sits on some neat wheels, the interior is refreshed and mainly, it’s black and orange.
It’s amazing how much you can do with so little… on something little: The 84 PSsmart 1.0 liter, 3-cylinder engine now has a sports air-filter an ECU tweak that rises the bar to 112 PS. Torque is also up by 38 Nm totalling at 158 which are readily available as early as 2000 rpm. 0 to 60 mph takes 9.9 seconds while top speed is 96 mph.
Looking from behind, we see four oval tailpipes shaping the end of a flow-optimised Carlsson resonator that will send unsuspecting onlookers in shock. The rear bumper accommodates them perfectly while a Carlsson front spoiler houses LED daytime running lights. The suspension at the front is lowered by 15 mm while the back – 30mm. 6.5 and 7.517-inch Carlsson light alloy wheels finish the look.
Inside a feast of quilted nappa leather awaits you to rest your head on the Carlsson marked headrests. The same goes for the steering wheel, dashboard, glove box, gearstick and door panels. The hand brake is from aluminum and a set of Carlsson floor mats a boot mat in soft velour with Carlsson logo and high-quality aluminium pedal covers round out the interior refinement.
We can’t get enough of Carlsson and luckily, they seem to be unable to stop churning out projects. So in this latest win-win situation, we welcome the Carlsson ML CD35 – It’s based on the current Mercedes-Benz M-class (W 166) and will premiere at the Geneva Motor Show this week. 22-inch wheels, suspension tweaks, an aerodynamic package and a performance package all highlight the Carlsson mark on the luxury SUV.
To start off, we have a new look that can only accent the already aggressive stance of the M-Class. A new front apron and dual headlight modules with LED daytime running lights, give the front a typical Carlssonish feel. The mesh inserts withing the bumper, are from an electro-polished stainless steel and so is the main radiator grille. Some sikdeskirts also complement the whole kit and a rear apron and a set of exhausts adorn the back end. Although, we can’t be sure of that until Carlsson fully reveal the ML CD35.
Carlsson Mercedes ML CD35
In terms of performance, the standard W166 that has gone under the knife has a 3.0 liter V6 BlueTEC 4MATIC diesel engine that develops 190 HP 680 Nm of torqe. Carlsson have taken that power up to 310 HP and 700 Nm thanks to a C-Tronic supplementary control unit. It’s not just brute power extraction that violates the engine. Rather, the C-Tronic thing cleverly monitors all temperature, emission and rpm reading and shuts off when it senses that the engine has reached a wear-and-tear zone. Soon enough, there will be even more performance tweaks available for the CD35 from Carlsson.
In order to make you even more dependent on your iPhone, the C-Tronic Carlsson suspension provided is linked to an application that allows remote control. Feel free to rise up or lower the CD35 whenever you like. As long as your phone battery isn’t dead. By default, the Carlsson M-class is around 30 mm lower than standard and sits on 10 x 20-inch, light alloy wheels with Carlsson 1/5 Revo design. At the Geneva Motor Show, five-spoke wheels in the Brilliant Edition and Dark Series surface finish will be installed.
The interior has been delicately altered with the help of illuminated door sill panels imprinted with Carlsson lettering, Carlsson door pins, and a footrest plus pedals made from aluminum.
Another Carlsson gem at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show – the Carlsson Mercedes-Benz SLK will showcase all there is to showcase in exclusive accessories. The interior has been adorned with some Nappa leather, the exterior with some aerodynamic bits and pieces along with some wheels and there’s a performance upgrade for that extra punch.
Additional power comes from something called CB25 S. It’s a package for the SLK engine. Alongside a C-Tronic additional control unit from Carlsson’s Plug-and-Drive series, the kit also sees a new, larger intercooler. At the end of the day we have 176 kW (239 BHP) rushing out as apocalyptic thunder from the flow-optimized, stainless steel rear muffler.
Visually, the Carlsson SLK harbors an aerodynamic package similar to the one found in the AMG sports package. At the front there’s a Carlsson bumper with an RS lip spoiler made from carbon. Grille inserts made from electro-polished stainless steel replace the plastic honeycomb grille found in the front skirt of the series model. At the back we also have a new skirt insert along with the diffuser and a trunk lip spoiler. Thanks to a suspension tweak, the SLK sits lower by 30 mm on a set of Carlsson light metal alloy wheels measuring 8.5 x 19 inches at the front axle and 9.5 x 19 inches on the rear.
Inside a hand-stitched Nappa leather festival opens up as you step in. It’s called the Carlsson Signature Line and no matter what the temperature, the natural and exclusive material on the seats constantly assimilates to the temperature of your own body. In case you forget, Carlsson have scattered numerous reminders that this car is their child – Carlsson pedal overlays, Carlsson footrests, Carlsson door locking pins made from brushed aluminum, door sill panels and the glass wind deflector with the laser-printed Carlsson logo.
It’s rare to see people expressing discontent from an AMG product, but just to be safe, German tuning house Carlsson have an ambitious project – The Carlsson CK63 RS. It is based on the current Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG but with a bigger bite, lower ride and a dash of exclusivity. Carlsson do mean business, for a performance bundled version of the CK63 RS is set to appear to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
The standard CLS 63 AMG with Performance package has a 5.5 V8 biturbo engine that feeds 557 BHP and 800 Nm of torque to the AMG Speedshift 7-speed sports gearbox. After Carlsson had finished working with it, that bar had been set even higher even higher, or so they claim – 652 BHP and one thousand Nm of torque. That is why, the Carlsson engineers also saw fit to instal an additional transmission oil cooling system. All this effort translates into a time of 4.1 seconds on the 60mph sprint. A very loud sprint if we may add. The exhaust system has been replaced by a tailor-made, multi-flow, complete stainless steel setup with downpipes, metal catalysts and front and rear silencers. Of course you can tone it down to become as silent as a gentle purr, thanks to the exhaust damper system controlled manually from the driving seat. But who would leave it like that?
Few would dare to modify the handling of a Performance package AMG but the newfound power calls for some tweaks – the front axle springs have been replaced with Carlsson springs with more progressive spring characteristics. Also as a consequence the ride is now 30 mm lower. The whole car sits on 1/10-type Carlsson wheels – 9 x 20” rims at the front and 10.5 x 20” at the back.
Carlsson CK63 RS
More personality is added when we look at the aerodynamic features of the Carlsson. A front spoiler and RS carbon spoiler lip decorate the nose while at the back we have a custom diffuser and a rear spoiler for greater downforce.
The interior of the CK63 RS can best be described as a blend of mocha-brown leather, brown Alcantara, carbon fiber, natural woods and more. The leather used is wet-dyed, providing the feeling of a fine leather glove and, because the finished product is 1/1.4 millimeters thick, it is also particularly durable. Other Carlsson highlights include the foot mats, door sill panels with blue, illuminated Carlsson lettering and door-locking pins made from polished aluminum. It’s not all upholstery though. We do not excel much in IT, but the Carlsson have fitted a ‘Viprinet Multichannel VPN Router 500’… which sounds fast. In fact it is. The company says that with this the RS will have a stable high-speed Internet connection even at high speeds.
2012 Carlsson Smart is now the newest tuning that a Smart can get. And as you view the pictures below, I am sure you think it’s worth it. Carlsson now offer this modification of the vehicle, which includes aerodynamic components, light alloy wheels in up to 17“ and complete interior enhancements in finest Carlsson Nappa leather. Besides those various possibilities for exterior refinements, the tuners now offer also performance kit for the Smart, called CK10.
The CK10 enhances the overall performance of the vehicle. In details, it endows the small city runabout with 82kW (112hp) and 158Nm (117 lb-ft) of torque. This was made possible thank to the special set-up of the engine management system and a sport air filter. Moreover the Carlsson engineers not only obtained a considerable increase in power output and torque, but also they have increased the number of the top speed.
The automobile manufacturer Carlsson uses the stylish shapes of the new generation of Mercedes-Benz CLS models (type C 218) to underline the vehicle’s elegance and sportiness. At the top of the line is the Carlsson CK63 RS based on the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG with Performance Package which will have its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011.
Carlsson incorporates coupé-style contours and lends the vehicle’s exterior a touch of sophistication with the comprehensive aerodynamic package. The new front spoiler and the front spoiler lip RS made of carbon fibre ensure an athletic look for the luxurious saloon, a look which is underscored further by the black painted stainless steel grille inserts.
The discreet spoiler on the trunk lid and the rear skirt insert with its rear diffuser RS made of carbon fibre ensure extra downforce and more stable road holding even at high speeds. The performance figures are also impressive: Optimized by Carlsson, the engine of the CLS 63 AMG with Performance Package under the long bonnet now produces 649 hp (477 kW) and 900 Nm of torque, compared to the original 557 hp (410 kW) and 800 Nm. This allows the Carlsson CK63 RS to reduce the time for the sprint from 0 to 100 kph from 4,3 to 4,1 seconds.
Carlsson CK63 RS
Finally, the Carlsson stainless steel sport exhaust system with 4 oval end pipes gives the CK63 RS a distinctive sound. Also for smaller diesel and gasoline engines, Carlsson offers technically sophisticated performance kits with the general Carlsson 3 year guarantee. The performance kit CK50 for the CLS 500 for instance raises the output of the engine from 408 hp (300 kW) and 600 Nm of torque to 475 hp (349 kW) and 687 Nm.
The vehicle’s light alloy wheels 1/10 which are available in up to 20 inch also emphasise the sporty yet stylish contours of the new aerodynamics package. By combining five single and five double spokes, the automobile manufacturer from Merzig in Germany is setting a design trend. Thanks to an elaborate manufacturing process, the forged wheel 1/10 Ultra Light generates a weight advantage of 40 percent compared to the original wheels. This allows Carlsson to attain more strength and a distinctly improved rolling quality at the same time. The 1/10 design is also available as casted wheels in three different colour variants: Brilliant Edition, Graphite Edition and Titanium Edition.
The Carlsson suspension with two sport springs lowers the CLS by 30mm at the front axle and thus allows an even more agile drivability. Carlsson’s patented C-Tronic® SUSPENSION is responsible for delivering excellent road holding for vehicles with the standard AIRMATIC suspension. This intelligent suspension lowering system drops the vehicle by up to 30 millimetres and continuously monitors the situation of the road. Depending on the road conditions, the controlling device adapts the residual spring travel every 150 milliseconds, thus ensuring optimum comfort and excellent driving dynamics with an appealing look. The C-Tronic® SUSPENSION switches to serial conditions when the speed drops under 20 kph as the original suspension adjustment will already lower the vehicle.
The vehicle’s refinement reaches its peak in the interior. The automobile manufacturer cultivates traditional craftsmanship by using finest materials such as leather, exclusive Alcantara, carbon fibre, best root wood and several other exclusive natural materials. The selections of the materials and the excellent workmanship attest the uncompromising quality requirements of Carlsson’s own upholstery. The CK63 RS experienced a Carlsson interior refinement at the top of the line. The seats and door panels as well as the rear seat bench have been covered in Mokka brown Carlsson NAPPA EXCLUSIVE leather. Thanks to its thickness of 1 to 1,4 millimetres, this pigmented leather is particularly resistant while still providing the feel of a soft leather glove. The extensive tanning process guarantees that the leather skins’ pores remain intact and thus prevent heat accumulation. In the winter, too, this particular natural material immediately adapts to the individual body temperature.
The same high quality and attention to detail is reflected by the carbon inlays in dark brown/matte which can be found among others in the dashboard, the door panels and the centre console. Other high quality parts like the illuminated door sill panels, soft velour floor mats featuring the Carlsson logo and door pins made of brushed aluminium further contribute to the stylish appearance of the CLS’ interior.
The number of variants is unlimited: The saddlery’s applications range from different forms and kinds of perforation over individual colours of desired leather skins to the combination of various materials like leather and Alcantara with corresponding stitching and piping.
Exclusively Central European raw materials of German production are used for all Carlsson NAPPA products. Carlsson also assumes responsibility in matters of environmental protection: the water used during the manufacturing process leaves the German tannery in drinking water quality.
With its comprehensive finishing package for the CLS model, Carlsson has once more proven its refined sense of taste when it comes to Mercedes design. Thanks to its efforts, the already stylish standard CLS63 AMG has turned into a unique individualist.
The new aerodynamics package RS, honed to perfection in the wind tunnel, forms the basis of the special edition for the Chinese market and allows the Carlsson CGL45 to express its characteristic style. The widened wheel arches emphasise its markedly sporty presence. The front spoiler and the chrome-finished radiator grille with the Carlsson horse underline its dominating presence. The LED daytime running lights in the front spoiler lip cleverly round off the Carlsson CGL45 lighting concept – these can equally be used as position lights at night. The rear view is defined by the new rear skirt which leaves room for the four oval stainless steel exhaust pipes of the sport rear silencer. All Carlsson accessories are manufactured of high quality PUR-Rim and impress users with their fitting accuracy and paintability.
Carlsson also improves the manoeuvrability of this large SUV with the intelligent lowering C-Tronic® SUSPENSION. This lowers the vehicle by 30 millimetres and thus achieves a lower centre of gravity while also reducing rolling and pitching. In addition, thanks to being connected to the basic vehicle’s data communication system, the C-Tronic® recognises the road surface condition and adjusts residual spring travel in milliseconds to suit. This way the intelligent lowering assures both sporty cornering, as well as optimum driving comfort on bad roads.
