  • 2015 BMW 2-Series 228i Coupe with Track Handling Package

BMW is going to offer a special Track Handling Package for the 2015 2-Series 228i Coupe in the US. Inspired by the original formula of BMW “S-package” vehicles manufactured in the course of the past three decades, the new Track Handling Package embraces the desires of the most enthusiastic BMW drivers.

The Track Handling Package includes /// M Adaptive Suspension, Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on unique 18” light-alloy wheels , Variable Sport Steering, and M Sport Brakes. The package will be available from July 2014 for both 6-speed manual and 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission-equipped BMW 228i Coupe models. The Track Handling Package may be added to any 228i Coupe during the vehicle ordering process.

    BMW 2-Series 228i is powered by a 2.0 liter TwinPower turbo gasoline engine with 245HP (180 kW) at 5,000RPM and 350Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque at just 1,250RPM. 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.

There is no doubt that the 2-Series 228i equipped with Track Handling Package will be extremely fun to drive and slide. What is more, it will set ultra-fast lap times and will compete with very tough track cars like Porsche Cayman and Lotus Elise. Still, the 228i will be a good everyday car with low fuel consumption and nice equipment.

  • 2014 2-Series Active Tourer – The First Front Wheel Drive Vehicle from BMW

Here is a short lesson – “How to disappoint tens of millions of fans”. Firstly, create a brilliant car manufacturer with huge history in motorsport and awesome road cars. Secondly, produce only rear-wheel drive cars in your entire history and third, but most important – release a FWD car.

There is no doubt that fans of BMW all over the world will be so disappointed, that I don’t have words to express it (including myself). Enough for the disappointment, actually the all-new Active Tourer is a great car, but it really needs to have a different badge… a Mercedes-Benz one for example.

2014 BMW 2-Series Active Tourer will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show, next month. It was previewed by the Concept Active Tourer, which is the same as the production model. All fans and customers had the hope that BMW will actually make it RWD, but alas.

Otherwise, the 2-Series Active Tourer is a typical BMW. It has the recognizable kidney grille, twin circular headlights and the familiar Hofmeister kink. The dimensions are 4,342mm long, 1,800mm wide and 1,555mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,670mm.

The exterior can be opted with a Sport Line package that has high-gloss black accents, special air intakes and exclusive 16” or 17” alloy wheels. There are also sports front seats, high-gloss black trim and contrast stitching for the interior.

The Luxury Line adds high-gloss chrome grille and different 16” or 17” alloy wheels. There is also a leather sport steering wheel, different seat upholstery and some chrome accents.

The top-of-range trim level – the M Sport Package boasts a complete aerodynamics package, a high-gloss black grille, a sport-tuned suspension dropping the ride height by 10mm and 17” or 18” light alloy wheels. The interior gets an M leather steering wheel, leather sports seats, an anthracite roof and M logo all over the place.

The interior comes with the typical driver-centric design. There is a folding front passenger seat, a 40:20:40 split-folding rear seat and a head up display (available as an option). The 2-Series Active Tourer can be also ordered with BMW ConnectedDrive Services & Apps.

    The engine range includes a 218i – a 1.5 liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol – 136HP (100 kW) and 220Nm (162 lb-ft). 0-100 km/h in 9.3 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). It will return 57.6 mpg UK – 4.9 l / 100 km with CO2 emissions of 115 g/km.

    The 225i has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol – 231HP (170 kW) and 350Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 235 km/h (146 mph).

    The diesel variant is only one – 218d – a 2.0 liter turbodiesel – 150HP (110 kW) and 330Nm (243 lb-ft). 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 205 km/h (127 mph).

BMW will also produce a super-efficient 216d as well as 220d and 220i. There will be xDrive versions of the 220d and 225i.

  • BMW M235i at the Race Track [video]

    BMW M235i - Front Angle

BMW has published an interesting video showing the true nature of the 2-Series M235i. The high-performance small coupe was driven by DTM driver Andy Priaulx, who was a lot eager to get his hands on it.

Andy drives the M235i around the Thruxton Circuit in the United Kingdom and as we all expected, he is pretty impressed from the road behavior of M235i. It boasts “exceptional” brakes and superb traction.

    2014 BMW 2-Series M235i is powered by a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine – 326HP (240 kW) and 450Nm (322 lb-ft) 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The engine is connected to an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox.

The M235i will be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show and will hit the market at $44,025.

  • BMW 2-Series Convertible and GranCoupe [renders]

After the recent revealing of the all-new BMW 2-Series Coupe, Theophiluschin has published several render pictures of the Convertible and GranCoupe versions. Both models will probably hit the market sometime in the end of next year.

BMW 2-Series Convertible is a perfect choice for people, who don’t like big cars. All models in the range have grown bigger, so the 4-Series Convertible is a pretty big car. Of course, women drivers will be attracted to 2-Series Convertible a lot.

BMW 2-Series GranCoupe is expected to be a bit longer than the 2-Series Coupe. It will provide more legroom for passengers at the rear.

The engine range will be exactly the same as this one in the Coupe model: 220d, 230d, 220i, 228i and M235i.

  • 2014 BMW 2-Series Coupe – A New Dimension in Driving Dynamics

BMW has continuing to expand their model range with a sensational 2-Series. After the recent revealing of 4-Series Coupe and Convertible, the manufacturer decided that it will be a good idea to split the 1-Series as well. The result is really spectacular!

The BMW 2-Series Coupe takes the levels of driving pleasure on offer in a compact model to even greater heights. The new two-door cuts a particularly impressive figure with its distinctive body design, a range of extremely powerful engines and specially configured chassis technology.

Initially, the engine range will include only 220i Coupe with 184HP (135 kW) and 270Nm (200 lb-ft) of torque and a powerful M235i Coupe with thrilling 326HP (240 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. Of course we also expect the 228i with 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol and 245HP (180 kW) and 350Nm (258 lb-ft) as well as some diesel engines: 220d and 230d.

The dimensions of BMW 2-Series Coupe are: 4,432 mm length; 1,774 mm width; height 1,418 mm and 2,690 mm wheelbase. The boot space is 390 litres, which is 20 litres more than 1-Series Coupe. The BMW 2-Series Coupe also boasts more efficient aerodynamics than both the BMW 1-Series and its predecessor, as reflected in a Cd of 0.29 for the BMW 220i Coupe.

Everything seems to be perfect, but the real hardcore BMW fans won’t be satisfied at all…
