  • Believe it or Not This Uprated BMW 1-Series is Incredibly Powerful! Covers 0-100 km/h in 4.5 Seconds!

BMW 1-Series by AC Schnitzer Side ViewThis BMW 1-Series by AC Schnitzer has impressive motorsport qualities and it has just debuted at the Essen Motor Show. I’m sure that there is rarely anyone who could expect a brute power from the ‘smallest’ in any range, but the case here is exactly the opposite. Since the tuners at AC Schnitzer were involved, there is literally no doubt that we could expect something even worth of race track competition.

M50d Power Instead the Standard Unit

Precisely, the experts have equipped the car with the M50d power plant and impressive performance upgrade. This powerplant is originally found in the 5-series, and this is the reason why the “Diesel M-Technik” unit propels the 1-series a long way forward.

In addition, after the performance upgrade the concept engine of the ACS1 5.0d now delivers 400 hp (294 kW) and 800 Nm (592 kW) of torque. So, it is no surprise that this “mini” could jump faster than many sports cars out there. Precisely, it is capable of 0-100 km/h acceleration time in just 4.5 seconds. By the way, the acceleration from 80-180 km/h is even more impressive: the ACS1 5.0d takes just 7.9 second for this.

    Other Upgrades

BMW 1-Series by AC Schnitzer Rear View

Other upgrade goodies that contribute for better performance include AC Schnitzer charge-coolers and sports catalysts, and tuning company’s logo over the engine. Well, the last one might not boost the horses but it definitely says whom to thank for the increase in power and speed.

In addition, the 1-Series also received sports silencer and two chromed tailpipes in “Racing”, “Racing Evo”, “Sport” or “Sport Black” styles, in right and left combination. Furthermore, the “cornering comfort” is provided via the in-house made racing suspension, which is also entirely adjustable in height. In details, it delivers lowering by 35 – 45 mm at the front and 40 – 50 mm at the rear. Anotherr option is the AC Schnitzer sports suspension and suspension spring kit that contributes for a 30 mm lowering at the front and rear.

    Exterior Looks Better?

BMW 1-Series by AC Schnitzer Front View

Are there any aero components in this project? The answer is positive. The tuners used a combination of two-piece AC Schnitzer front spoiler elements, the front spoiler, chromed front grille in the export version, and rear roof wing. There is even a rear skirt, which has received a protective film and carbon mirror cover. The AC Schnitzer design stripes round out the exterior enhancements included for the bodywork of the 1-Series.

    But How About the Interior?

AC Schnitzer also changed the interior of the 1-series BMW via the “Black Line” aluminium cover for the “i-Drive” system controller, AC Schnitzer key-holder, a gear knob with digital gear display, the “Black Line” aluminium or leather gear knob, “Black Line” aluminium handbrake handle, foot rest and aluminium pedal set, and velour foot mats.

This is yet another very cool project by AC Schnitzer shown at the Essen Motor Show and we are very excited to share it with you. The guys are really doing their job just great and we definitely hope to hear from them more often!

    The Engines

The BMW 1 Series introduces a redesigned engine lineup, that includes and expansion: BMW EfficientDynamics technology. All the models bring impressive fuel efficiency and power.

The petrol lineup comes with four and six cylinders. The BMW 118i and the BMW 120i are powered by a 1.6-Liter four-cylinder engine. It delivers 136 hp (100 kW) and 170 hp (125 kW) respectively. The top of the range is the M135i with the impressive turbocharged engine. The power is increased to 326 hp (238 kW) and peak torque of 450 Nm.

The diesels are based on the same efficiency concept and come with turbocharged technology and further upgraded performance. The upgrades bring even better response time, thermodynamics, efficiency and power development.

The 1.5-Liter three-cylinder engine generates 116 hp (85 kW) and 270 Nm of torque. This model goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 10.3 seconds. The good news is, that emission efficiency could be even further upgraded with the special EfficientDynamics Plus model, that provides emissions, measured at 89g/km. The latest four-cylinder diesel engine also comes in two variations: 118d brings 150 hp (110 kW) and 330 Nm of torque, while the 120d offers 190hp (150 kW) and 450 Nm of torque.

Almost all BMW 1 Series are geared with a six-speed manual gearbox, that offers speed, control and highest level of smoothness. There is also a special 120d xDrive Steptronic gearbox, available as an upgrade. The automatic transmission is especially designed to deliver longer gear ratios, efficiency and accuracy.

  • BMW 1-Series Sedan [render]

The designer – Theophilus Chin has created two nice render images of BMW 1-Series Sedan, which is only a rumor for now. The entry-level BMW is now offered only in 3- and 5-door hatchback configurations, while the 2-Series offers coupe and convertible models.

Besides the possible 1-Series Sedan, there is another bothering news – the model will come with front wheel drive as the recently announce 2-Series Active Tourer and the 2nd generation X1.

“The NES (New Entry-Level Sedan) is integral to our growth plans,” commented unknown source.

“It will be an important pillar in the future 1-series lineup, particularly in the U.S. and China, where sales of small premium-brand four-door sedans are on the rise.”, he added.

BMW 1-Sereis Sedan is going to compete versus CLA and Audi A3 Sedan. Probably, both of them will be slightly bigger than the BMW, but they are in a same segment of FWD small saloons.

The engine range of the future 1-Series Sedan will be carried over – three- and four-cylinder direct-injection (with or without turbocharger) petrol and common-rail diesel units. A hybrid version will probably emerge, too because of the demanding on the market.

    Stay tuned!

  • AC Schnitzer Exhaust Systems – Racing Evo

AC Schnitzer is now offering high performance rear silencers made from stainless steel with different chromed tailpipes. The new silencers deliver impressive sonorous sound and a sporty appearance. This is really important because the exhaust is the acoustic and optical signature of a car.

AC Schnitzer also offers polished and chromed exhaust tail trim Racing Evo manufactured from stainless steel. The new tailpipe design is an evolution of the successful Evo tailpipe trim, which is now superseded by the new one.

The “Racing Evo” trim is an “evolutionary jump” with its unique design featuring two classic round tailpipes with slash cut, joined into a harmonious whole by an undulating cover positioned above.

The “Racing Evo” tailpipe is perfectly matched to the latest BMW models for which it was exclusively developed – BMW 1-series F20 and F21, 2-series F22 and F23, 3-series F30 and F31 as well as 4-series F32 and F33. The “Racing Evo” trim is also available as a purely aesthetic solution, as a standalone tailpipe trim.

The improved dispersing of exhaust gases allows your car’s engine to work more efficiently and “breathe” properly. This can improve the engine performance and fuel consumption. The original AC Schnitzer sports rear silencer is specially designed for your engine so it benefits in greater response and faster achieving of full power. Even in the lower rpm ranges, the system emits a characteristic, sporting sonorous note.

Last, but not least, the AC Schnitzer twin sports exhaust system is made from V2A stainless steel boasting a long life and optimum resistance to corrosion.
