2013 Kia K9 Luxury Saloon has just been released for sale and it is in fact introducing an entirely new segment of the global automotive market. It has a rear-wheel drive and more importantly its power come from V6 engine mated to eight speed transmissions.
K9’s overall length is 5,090 mm and the wheelbase is 3,045 mm. This basically means that the model is delivers generous front and rear occupant space. In addition, the overall width and height are 1,900 mm and 1,490 mm, respectively. Consequently, this only can mean that there is more than enough space in the cabin.
2013 Kia K9 will be powered by an upgraded 290 ps (213 hp) Lambda V6 3.8-litre MPI engine, or with a 334 ps (246 kW) 3.8-litre GDI engine. Either of the engines are mated to an eight speed automatic transmission.
Of course the all new saloon is all about luxury and includes some advanced luxury features and technologies, such as: fully adaptive all-LED headlamps, Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), radar-based Blind-Spot Detection (BSD), a 17-speaker Lexicon (by Harman) sound system, Smart Cruise Control (SCC) and an Around-View Monitor (AVM) with four cameras.
All in all Kia K9 is all about elegant simplicity, harmony and balance in terms of appearance and technologies. The car can be also a synonym of confidant stance and athletic proportions thank to the premium large rear-wheel drive.
Obviously with this model Kia aims to compete some of the most popular European brands.
2013 Ford Focus ST is the latest high-performance hatchback by the brand which is now available to order. It will deliver outstanding performance and handling combined with distinctive interior and muscular exterior design.
Focus ST combines advanced and sport-oriented technologies, such as the Tangerine Scream metallic color and a race-inspired Recaro® seats with matching color accents.
In fact, this Ford model will deliver the perfect balance between pure driving excitement and everyday livability.
The heart of the Focus ST is the highly efficient EcoBoost® 2.0-liter engine. Thank to it the vehicle has responsiveness, strong off-idle power and a broad torque curve. In particular, this engine produces 252 horsepower (185 kW) and 270 lb.-ft. (200 Nm) of torque.
Furthermore, this model comes equipped with a lot of other features which enhance the pleasure of the driving experience. One of them is for instance the sound symposer box which improves the natural sounds of the motor by capturing internal engine oscillations and piping them through the interior under throttle. Under full throttle, the engine music is amplified through the symposer box.
Given the fact that the engine carries the name EcoBoost, this can only mean one thing – fuel efficiency. Although the official EPA figures are not yet available, I can assure you that the fuel economy will be exceptional and n fact – best in class.
2013 Ford Focus ST has another distinctive feature which makes it a very sporty car. It is namely its unique sport suspension, which combines innovative technologies. For example the agility is enhanced thanks to the variable-ratio steering rack, which makes steering less sensitive on the straightaways but increases sensitivity at the corners.
Another example is the electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) which is enhanced with torque steer compensation. The more aggressive tuning of the torque steer compensation helps the driver feel in complete control.
Some additional highlights of this model are the following features: Recaro sport seats, unique 18-inch Y-spoke ST wheels, dual-zone climate control, Xenon headlights and leather appointments throughout the cabin, SYNC® with MyFord Touch®, Sony® Audio System, HD Radio™ and 10-speaker surround sound.

Scant pieces of news come forth from Toyota. An all new RAV4 EV is set to appear pretty soon. The venue intended for the debut couldn’t be more appropriate – the 26th International Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS26) in Los Angeles. A news conference should elaborate on this fact. That would be Monday, May 7 at noon in the West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center.
That’s pretty much we know for now. To remind ourselves, two years ago, at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Toyota did bring out prototypes of the supposed second generation of EV RAV4s. They were developed jointly with Tesla (Tesla were responsible for the power plant and batteries). The earliest of them all had a 660-pound lithium-ion battery pack with 50 kWh capacity in total. The estimated single charge range varied from 80 to 120 miles.
Hopefully, those figures will be now even more impressive as the EV still has to win over many admirers of petrol and diesel RAV4 which are completely satisfactory on their own.
More on this topic will surely be coming next week.
2012 Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet is officially available to order at the brands retailers. This particular model is being on the top of the Golf Cabriolet range.
This means that it combines the pleasures of practical and safe open-air motoring with great performance and on-road dynamics.
What is more, the 2012 Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet comes equipped with all the classic design cues. For instance, the radiator grille has a honeycomb structure with red edging and GTI badge. At the same time the front bumper embodies a deep honeycomb air dam and distinctive fog lights.
In addition to all this are the side sill extensions which give the GTI Cabrio a wide and confidents stance. And the rear diffuser is framed by a chrome tailpipe on either side.
Next, the LED tail lights complete the look and make the cabriolet model even more appealing. For the great visual contribute the standard 18-inch ‘Monza Shadow’ alloy wheels.
What about the interior? Inside, one can four seats covered in the classic tartan “Jacara” cloth upholstery. This one comes as standard, while the “Vienna” leather upholstery is optional.
Moreover, the bespoke GTI multifunction steering wheel, the handbrake and gear lever gaiter are wrapped in leather. All are finished with contrasting red stitching.
It is also good to mention that the pedals have brushed stainless steel caps, while there are black ‘Edge’ decorative inlays on the doors and facia.
More importantly, the hood can be folded away in only 9.5 seconds. It has a black lining, while the roof pillar trims are also finished in black.
2012 Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet
The engine information here is nothing surprising, because the GTI Cabrio comes equipped with the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. The latter is mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox as a standard. There is also a choice of an optional six-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox, which produces 210 hp (155 kW).
Given these facts, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in only 7.3 seconds with either transmission. This Volkswagen comes with top speed of 147 mph and combined fuel consumption – 37.2 mpg (36.7 DSG). The CO2 emissions number is 177 g/km.
To go further into details, the maximum torque that this vehicle can achieve is 206 lbs ft (280 Nm) and it is available from just 1,700 rpm to 5,300 rpm.
The safety of the passengers and the driver is delivered by a comprehensive list of standard specification: automatic rollover protection, front and side head/thorax airbags and a driver’s knee airbag as standard.
In fact, the model got a five-star (96 per cent) rating for adult occupancy in Euro NCAP crash tests.
2012 Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet is currently available to order with a starting price of £29 310.
2013 Audi TT RS Plus Coupe and Roadster models are even more focused version of the high performance sports ca. They now come with outstanding 174mph top speed, which increased in power and torque means 360 hp (265 kW) and 465 Nm (343 lb-ft).
To go further into details, what makes the new Audi model so special is the tuned 2.5-litre, five-cylinder TFSI petrol engine. Thank to it the car is able to produce the additional 20PS (15 kW) and 15Nm (11 lb-ft) of torque compared – all this when it is compared with the ‘standard’ car.
The result basically is the astonishing 360 ho and 465 Nm, which are channelled to the quattro all-wheel-drive system through either a six-speed manual gearbox or the seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission.
Thanks to the latter, 2013 Audi TT RS plus Coupe is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.1 seconds (manual version 4.3 seconds). On the other hand the Roadtser needs 4.2 seconds (manual version 4.4 seconds) to achieve this speed.
Notwithstanding these great figures the RS plus models also are more fuel efficient. For isntance the Coupé is achieving a combined economy test figure of 33.2mpg and the Roadster 32.8mpg in the same test.
The reason for this impressive fuel economy is the hugely lightweight Audi Space Frame (ASF) bodies made of aluminium at the front and sheet steel at the rear. The overal weight of the TT RS plus Coupé with manual transmission is 1 450kg.
2013 Audi TT RS Plus Coupe
Both Audi models run on 19-inch five-arm “Rotor” design titanium-look alloy wheels. Another characteristic feature is the single frame radiator grille with its matt aluminium surround and polished anthracite diamond-pattern mesh.
Adding to this, visually attractive are also the carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) door mirror housings and black oval tailpipe trims. These indicate that the TT RS plus is fitted as standard with the sports exhaust system.
A variety of innovative technologies are also included in these models. Some examples are the satellite navigation, the Bluetooth phone preparation and Audi Music Interface iPod connection.
2013 Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster will be available in dealerships early in May and will come with a starting proce of £48 945.

News from Cam Shaft. Yes, the company that ruined a rare Veyron with some silly wrapping. This time though, they seem to have done things properly. The car that has gone under the knife is a V8 Lotus Esprit made no earlier than 1996. Its standard output of 354 hp has been revamped, the gearbox has been replaced, the brakes are new and the bodywork serves as a tribute to the late Ayrton Senna.
The guys at Cam Shaft had a wonderful engine to work with right from the start – twin-turbocharged 3,506 cubic cm of power, 400 Nm of torque and 354 hp. The overall weight of the car amounted to just 1,380 kg which enabled it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and go on to a top speed of 282 km/h – monumental figures for the time.
By placing a Red Race control device on the car’s computer and by adding Forge adjustable cases inside the turbo compressor pumps, Cam Shaft manage to extract more juice from the Esprit’s V8. The intercooler has also been replaced and two 100-cell structure catalysts have been fitted so that now we have a 492 hp Lotus – quite up to today’s standards. Apparently, tests have shown that the zero-to-hundred time now stands at 4.3 seconds and the top speed stops counting at 305. Needless to say that, considering the new power surge, the gearbox needs to be up to standards as well. That’s why, at Cam Shaft, they have replaced it entirely with a 6-speed Dog-Engagement gearbox equipped with a longer total ratio. The brakes are also been replaced with ones that are bigger and more heat-efficient.
Finally, the wrapping – a black bodied trim that is pretty much reminiscent to Senna’s John Player Special 97T Formula 1 car. It even has his signature on it. It was the car with which he won his first championship. An honorable way to remember a racing legend.
2013 Dodge Dart is the vehicle which comes to change everything. It is a mixture of Alfa Romeo DNA, fuel-efficient powertrains and Dodge’s passion for performance. It is truly fuel efficient, makes you fall in love at first sight (just see how it looks) and offers excitement and agility in driving.
It comes equipped with innovative technologies, class-leading safety features and clever functionality. In other words – it comes to redefine the compact car segment by offering one-of-a-kind personalization, spaciousness, functionality and fun-to-drive dynamics.
First of all let’s review the exceptional exterior of this car. 2013 Dodge Dart’s designers definitely created it with this vision of the design becoming timeless. This means at least that it is stylish and distinctive and grabs immediately the attention. It has sportish look, athletic lines and aesthetically agile appearance.
In addition, the front of the Dart carries the specific and unmistakable Dodge split crosshair grille. However, it is now with modern and sleek look that “floats” in the front fascia, giving the Dart a full-width mask. You can definitely recognize that it is a Dodge, thank to this.
Moreover, front of the Dart has been designed for smooth airflow around, above and below the car without compromising styling or engine cooling requirements. Next, below the front fascia there is positioned a lower radiator close-out pane, which contributes to the Dart’s lower front-end look.
2013 Dodge Dart
On the other hand the rear view of the all-new 2013 Dodge Dart includes an available Charger-inspired “racetrack” full-width taillamp with 152 indirect glow LEDs, and class-exclusive available dual exhausts mounted in the rear fascia.
Another highlight is that the designers of the car put a lot of attention on the details. For instance, have included these eye-capturing elements: standard laser-braised roof welds, high-quality metal Daylight Opening (DLO) moldings painted piano black and standard projector headlamps.
All in all everything that has been made around the design leads to more dramatic aero-dynamical appearance and exceptional proportions, world-class craftsmanship and modern technology.
Next comes the interior of the car. Dodge’s interior is crafted with materials and technology typically found in more expensive vehicle segments. In it is included innovative ambient interior lighting, high-quality soft-touch materials and high-tech features.
The interior of the Dart is “driver-centric”. All of the controls are put within easy reach of the driver. It might surprise you but the vehicle is really comfortable and spacious inside, and it boasts best-in-class hip and shoulder room.
The high-tech highlight of the 2013 Dodge Dart is the 7-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) LED customizable gauge cluster display with light pipe surround. This one also houses the available class-exclusive Uconnect® Touch 8.4-inch touchscreen Media Center, which is the largest touchscreen in its class.
Furthermore, the center console features auxiliary jacks to plug in a wide variety of electronic devices. It also includes inventive storage solutions, like center console side pockets.
The warm atmosphere in the vehicle is provided of course by the lightning. The available “racetrack” lighting surrounds the floating island bezel. In addition, there is the ambient lighting for the door handles, map pockets, foot wells, glove box, storage bin and illuminated cup holders.
2013 Dodge Dart Interior
More importantly of course are the engines by which this beauty is powered. Drivers can select from a new 160 horsepower (118 kW) Tigershark 16-valve 2.0-liter engine, a 160 horsepower (118 kW) 16-valve 1.4-liter MultiAir® Intercooled Turbo engine and a new 184 horsepower (135 kW) Tigershark 16-valve 2.4-liter MultiAir 2 four-cylinder engine.
Those engine can be combined with a choice of three different transmissions: six-speed manual, six-speed automatic or six-speed dual dry clutch (DDCT) transmission one.
Furthermore, it is necessary to mention the fact that the Dart is based on the award-winning Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The latter is offers road-holding agility and safety, and exceptional driving dynamics.
In addition, the 2013 Dodge Dart includes lightweight MacPherson strut front suspension,. They were specifically tuned in order to minimize camber loss, resulting in more responsive steering and handling characteristics. The also deliver enhanced ride quality and a reduction in road noise.
Another highlight here is that the 2013 Dart is the first Dodge vehicle to utilize an active grille shutter system. The latter automatically stops airflow through the lower intake at highway speeds when less engine cooling is required and aerodynamic drag is most significant.
When the shutter system is closed it improves aerodynamic performance by redirecting airflow around the front of the vehicle and down the sides. The active grille shutter system will open or close automatically based upon engine coolant temperature and vehicle speed.
2013 Dodge Dart comes equipped with more than 60 safety and security features. The body foundation of the car is sound and strong: it is a high-strength steel content of 68 percent.
Next, driver’s and passenger’s safety features include 10 standard airbags: dual-stage adaptive venting front driver and passenger air bags, front-seat-mounted driver and passenger pelvic and thorax air bags, two rear-seat-mounted pelvic air bags, front driver and passenger knee air bags and all-row side-curtain air bags.
The Dart also comes equipped with a reactive head-restraint system; available Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection, three-point safety belts in all five seating positions; front driver and passenger dual seat belt pretensioners at the anchor and retractor positions and active load limiters. The three rear seat positions include Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH).

Bugatti has announced the Galibier 16C Concept before three years, but a production car still hasn’t been released. However, the manufacturer continues to tease the model with a new video, which was released in the official Youtube channel of the brand.
The video highlights the comfort of the vehicle, which is granted by superb nicely crafted elements.
“Four-door vehicles open up a whole new market for exotic-car makers,” commented Kevin Tynan, an automotive analyst for Bloomberg Industries.
“It makes good sense for Bugatti to get in there. Those cars are loyal to design language and brand heritage.”, he added.
16C Galibier is powered by the same engine as Veyron – 8.0 liter sixteen-cylinder engine, but the power will be between 800PS (588 kW) and 1 000PS (735 kW).
The price tag of the saloon will be more than £1.5 million, if the model eventually hits the market.
The topic at Ford today apparently is fuel economy. The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 they say, is 1 mpg more efficient than the 2012 model despite the fact that it has 112 more horsepower. Not only that, but there’s also a claim that the 5.8-liter engine under its hood is now the “world’s most powerful production V8” rated at 662 horsepower. Maybe they haven’t heard of the Gumpert Apollo or the Koenigsegg Agera R. But I guess they are in a class of their own.
The 5.8-liter in the GT500 is a typical, lazy rumbling muscle. 395 lb-ft of torque are already at disposal when the rev needle reaches 1000 rpm. More than 90 percent of the peak torque comes in between 2,200 and 5,800 rpm. That thrust availability might be mainly due to the fact that the supercharger alone is 2.3-liters
“Our goal is to create outstanding all-around performance cars, not just stoplight-to-stoplight sprinters,” said Jamal Hameedi, SVT chief engineer. “We’ve backed up this amazing powerplant with a more refined chassis tuning that helps keep the rubber on the pavement without punishing the driver’s spine and six-pot Brembo brakes that dissipate speed with ease stop after stop.”
Indeed, the chassis has been tuned to absorb the road imperfection that can cause instability at high speeds (200+ mph). As a 2013 model, the Ford Shelby GT500 gets a revised front fascia and splitter which improve aerodynamics at 160 mph with around 33 percent over the ones in the 2011 model.
As a result of all that refinement, the Shelby has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg in combined. The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is underpowered and 5 mpg less efficient. Checkmate.
The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 will be built at AutoAlliance International Plant in Flat Rock, Mich
