  • Citroen Tubik Concept at the 2011 Frankfurt

Citroen has announced rather strange car at the Frankfurt Motor Show, last week. The truck looks like it is coming from 2054, instead of 2011.

The gull-wing door is probably the most amazing part of Tubik, which also has a strange name… The vehicle is presented by a car-show girl with a space suit, headphones and a helm.

Inside, the vehicle has a lot of space, several seats and huge flat-screen monitor. Despite that, the colour theme is not so appropriate – purple, blue and some dark elements.

The vehicle stands on enormous shiny wheels fitted with futuristic tires.

The company didn’t announce any further information about the engine or technologies, which are included in Citroen Tubik Concept.

  • Alfa Romeo 4C at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show

Alfa Romeo 4C Concept was firstly introduced at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and now the manufacturer has brought it in Frankfurt.

Actually, the model 4C will hit the US market somewhere in 2013, but Alfa Romeo didn’t release any further information.

The engine is the well-known 1750 TBi petrol engine delivering 200PS (147 kW). The vehicle also boasts extremely low weight of around 850kg, which means power-to-weight ratio lower than 4kg/hp.

The results are thanks to a superbly light chassis supporting a body made of carbon fiber. The rear frame structure and the crash boxes are made of aluminum.

So, Alfa Romeo 4C will be not only fast in straight line, but in the corners, too. Finally, Lotus Exige will have it’s true rival.

Looking forward for more information about this small super sports car.

  • Peugeot HX1 Concept in Frankfurt

The Peugeot HX1 Concept is a really interesting car. It is co-designed with a shoe designer – Pierre Hardy. The result is fascinating – HX1 has four reverse-opening half-scissor doors, which can be opened wide for ease of access to the passenger compartment.

The dimensions are unique, too – height – 1373 mm, width 1990mm and a length of 4 954 mm.

HX1 is powered by a Peugeot’s HYbrid4 technology including a 2.2 liter HDi with 204PS (150 kW) and an electric motor with 95PS (70 kW), which powers the rear wheels. The total power is 299PS (220 kW), which is more than satisfying.

Furthermore, the plug-in hybrid HX1 is extremely efficient – 3.2 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 83 g/km. Still, you can go up to 30 km (18.5 miles) in all-electric mode.

The idea is great, the figures, too. So, we can only hope for HX1 to hit the market really soon.

  • Abarth 695 Competizione in Frankfurt

The Abarth 695 Competizione is born to be the first “street legal” Scorpion racing car. It is showcased  at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Like a real racing car, this is a two seater in which the rear seats are replaced by a roll bar the same Grigio Competizione Opaco shade as the bodywork. In this way the car acquires additional sporting character because the roll bar decreases its weight, making it even better performing.

It also boasts special sport suspension, 17” alloy wheels fitted with low-profile performance tires and Brembo brake system including 305 mm discs with 4-piston calipers behind the rims.

The interior comes with Sabelt racing seats, some carbon fiber elements and each 695 Competizione is numbered. There are no rear seats, but Abarth fitted a roll bar for further stiffness and safety.

Abarth 695 Competizione is powered by a 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol engine with 180PS (132 kW) and 270Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed sequential gearbox, which delivers the torque to the front wheels. 0 to 100 km/h in under 7 seconds and a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph).

Besides all that power, the small car averages 6.5 litres per 100 km and just 151 g/km of CO2.

Last, but not least there is a “Record Monza” variable back-pressure “dual mode” exhaust, designed to improve engine performance and sound over 3 000 RPM.
