2016 Ford Explorer to be Built in Chicago Assembly Plant

2016 Ford Explorer has been welcomed at the Chicago Assembly Plant. The significantly updated vehicle will be built in the factory and from there distributed in more than 100 markets outside the United States. As a matter of fact, the same plant exported more than 54 000 Ford Explorers last year with customers in Canada and Mexico as the largest consumers.

The Explorer was initially launched 25 years ago in 1990. For these years Ford has sold more than 7 million examples of the model, which makes it the best-selling SUV in America. Now, the 2016 Ford Explorer has been significantly updated and features a lot of new features in comparison to the previous model year.

In addition, the sportier stance of the car is supported by the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost. This means more capability, because the four-cylinder unit is rated at 280 horsepower (2016 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 229 Nm (310 lb.-ft.) of maximum torque at 3,000 rpm. In addition, the Explorer is also fuel efficient despite the 280 horses. In comparison to the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder it replaces, the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost has additional 40 horsepower and 40 lb.-ft. of torque to offer. This is estimated as an increase of 17 percent and 15 percent, respectively.

What is more, there is also another engine in the range, which comes as a standard. It is the 3.5-liter V6 engine that is fitted in the base model, the XLT and Limited trims. At last, the 2016 Ford Explorer Sport and Platinum editions will be driven by the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 unit, generating more than 365 horsepower (268 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 474 Nm (350 lb.-ft.) of torque at 3,500 rpm. The engine is connected to the six-speed SelectShift as well.

The new Platinum series that was recently announced and it is fitted with a lot of extra equipment and it will go on sale later this summer. 1970 Porsche 914/6

1970 Porsche 914/6 was created in collaboration with Volkswagen more than 45 years ago. It came as a substitution of the VW Karman Ghia. In addition, the 914/6 GT also competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970, ending first in its class and sixth overall.

Revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003, the Porsche Carrera GT is the first concept car since the last 959 rolled off the line in 1988. Here Porsche has utilized lightweight materials like carbon-fiber for the chassis, magnesium for the wheels and titanium for the pushrods.

As a result the Carrera GT had almost zero rotational inertia. The 5.7-liter V10 powering it, produces 605 horsepower (445 kW) and can hit 124 miles per hour in less than 10 seconds and has a top speed of 205 mph.

BMW 640i M Performance Coupe Revealed in Japan

2015 BMW 640i M Performance Edition Coupe will be entirely distributed in Japan and this fact makes us very sad. The Bavarian company has just introduced the Alpine White car and we immediately fell in love. I assume that the same thing will happen with you too. The car looks great not only because of its exclusive paint scheme, but because of the black accents and purposeful stance. Making it even more attractive is the fact that it will be strictly limited edition, with production of only ten units.

BMW 640i M Performance Exterior

As mentioned, the Alpine White is the chosen color for the exterior paint scheme. The outer looks of the car are further strengthened by the “M Sport Package”, which adds black accents on the form of 20-inch liquid black M-light alloy wheels with V-spoke design, carbon mirror covers and black kidney grille.

The sporty character of the front fascia of the car is additionally emphasized via new LED headlights. They will provide excellent visibility even in the bad weather and during the night or day. The good fact is that they come as standard equipment for this special edition.

Hyundai Creta is based on Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 Design Philosophy

This basically signifies that the new global SUV follows the premium look, which Hyundai has established through the years with its design strategy. As a matter of fact, Hyundai Creta is based on company’s next generation ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ philosophy.

Dubbed 2.0 (FS2.0) this is an evolution of the famous design strategy of the brand that was applied through the recent years. There is a hidden A-pillar, which was applied to deliver one-off dynamism in the looks of the car. This also serves in creating more open and airy cabin. It looks like that the designers took inspiration by the i20 when creating the interior, because it features two-tone dashboard and three-spoke steering wheel. It also seems that the SUV is fitted with dual-zone automatic climate control.

McLaren 570S Coupe is Making Dynamic Debut at Goodwood

McLaren 570S Coupe and two other McLaren models are going to make first appearance together at the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed. The McLaren 570S Coupe will not only lead the charge at the show but also will make a world dynamic debut. It will join the Supercar Run. Accompanying it will be the P1 GTR and 650S Le Mans. The last to models has a strictly limited production and one can actually rarely see them in public.

This simple fact actually says a lot: it will be the first time when McLaren will preview those models together. Those three cars actually come from a recently announced product line-up: Sports Series, Super Series and Ultimate Series.

McLaren 570S Coupe

McLaren 570S Coupe was revealed at the New York International Auto Show in the beginning of the year. Now it is time for the supercar to make its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Hill. The sports vehicle is powered by 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine, which generates 570PS (562bhp), which makes it the most potent model in the recently launched Sports Series.

First customer deliveries of this particular model are expected to start later this year. The car can be also seen on the stage at McLaren House at Goodwood, so if you happen to be there, go and see it.

McLaren 650S Le Mans

McLaren 650S Le Mans is a very special vehicle, carrying a code-name ‘XP1’. The car is actually a result of an experiment, which ended up in the creation of this prototype. It was built by the experts at McLaren Special Operations (MSO), who have worked closely with McLaren F1 designer Peter Stevens.

The vehicle was created with the aim to pay homage to the 20th anniversary of the famous endurance race victory. For this reason it will be produced in a strictly limited run of 50 units only. In fact, these are already sold out.

XP1 has a charming exterior look thanks to the Sarthe Grey paint scheme, which was inspired by the colour of the race-winning McLaren F1 GTR. It features contrasting McLaren Orange highlights, styling enhancements from the 1995 race-winner, and fully-integrated roof-mounted ‘snorkel’ air intake. In addition, its wing louvres are designed to minimize the pressure over the front wheels.

McLaren P1 GTR

McLaren P1 GTR is the third vehicle which will race next to the 650S Le Mans and 570S Coupe in the Supercar Run. As a matter of fact, this model will also make a dynamic debut at the event. This super-car is super-powerful, because it is driven by a 1,000PS (986 bhp) powerplant.

McLaren 650S GT3

McLaren 650S GT3 is the last car which will make a dynamic appearance. The vehicle was unveiled at the same show last year and for one year it has achieved podium finishes in five championships at circuits across North America and Europe.

Audi A6 TDI Attempting Guinness World Record

Audi A6 TDI ultra, which has a fuel consumption of more than 67 mpg, is attempting to make a Guinness World Record. The prestigious title will be given to the car if it achieves the goal of driving to the most countries on a single tank of fuel. The project is being conducted with Audi’s collaboration with RAC. This is an organization that is banking on the Audi ultra concept and the innovations in lightweight construction, engineering and driver assistance technology.

Behind the steering wheel will be motoring journalist Andrew Frankel and racing driver/TV presenter Rebecca Jackson, who will bring their driving skills and experience in the pursuit of the title.

Audi A6’s journey starts from Netherlands today. It is going to proceed to Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria, Germany and Italy and it will probably end up somewhere in the Balkans. To achieve the record, Audi will utilize the 67mpg-plus A6 2.0 TDI ultra model, which is expected to cover more than 1,000 miles on a single tank of fuel.

Audi also disclosed that the route has been carefully planned so that the car could avoid some fuel-demanding road situations, like congested towns and cities, motorways and mountainous regions.

Dodge Charger R/T Receives Mopar Performance Kit

2015 Dodge Charger R/T can now be equipped with Mopar’s special Performance Kit, which will be produced in a limited run of 50 units only. Each of the kits will include special equipment that will help Dodge’s enthusiasts to make their Charger R/T more individual.

Mopar has usually delivered performance and customization packages that hadn’t that limited distribution. Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO, said that the company is now shifting into another gear and offering a limited-edition. The purpose for this step is to allow customers to enhance the performance and look of their Dodge Charger R/T in an extremely unique way.

To go into details, the Mopar ’15 kit is a street-legal performance package that features the Scat Pack Performance Stage Kit 1, front strut tower brace with caps and bright pedal kit. The Scat Pack 1 actually adds 18 horsepower and 18 lb.-ft. of torque.

Renault Duster Pickup to be Revealed June 18

Renault Duster Pickup is going to be the first ever pickup in company’s range. As the name suggests it will be based on the popular Duster model, but unfortunately it will be distributed in South America only. The French company is going to reveal it in a special press conference at this year’s Buenos Aires Motorshow. This will happen on June 18 and can be also viewed on the Renault media.

As Renault says, the vehicle is a “Sport Utility Pickup”. It will inherit all qualities which are responsible for the success of the Duster. Of course, there will be many changes. First of all, the car will include generous bed, since it is a real double cab.

Secondly, it will feature four doors and will offer seating for five persons. Renault expects that this pickup will mark a real breakthrough in this territory.

Pickup Based on Duster Oroch Concept

The pickup is actually based on the Renault (Dacia) Duster Oroch concept, which was unveiled last year at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil. The show vehicle was designed by Renault design center for Latin America (RDAL) situated in Sao Paulo.

The Oroch features all the necessary qualities of a true SUV, but it is actually a five-seat pickup truck with assertive styling, inspired by the world of kite-surfing. It’s sporty exterior is conveyed by the satin-finish white color and is additionally highlighted by the visible orange contours.

Other cool features here include panoramic glass sunroof that creates the experience of a more spacious cabin, skid plates, two rear-mounted cameras with full outdoor coverage, 18-inch alloy wheels with 255/60 tyres and broad side protective outline.

The interior of the Oroch concept is characterized by a dash with a multimedia screen that shows in real time the images taken by the two cameras of the vehicle which are operated by a rotary control on the center console. Of course, we do not expect to see all that in the production variant of the Duster pickup.

But the real question is will Renault bring this pickup in the rest of the world? Unfortunately this has a very low probability of happening. However, the company has promised to bring full-size pick-up in Europe, which will accompany the next generation of Nissan Navara and Mercedes-Benz’ pickup.

Rezvani Motors Beast Supercar was just teased via an exclusive video on YouTube. The car will be revealed very soon, precisely next week, and it is destined to change a lot in the automotive industry. Exterior

What we see from the teaser video, the Beast definitely has the looks and since the company hasn’t disclosed anything yet, this is what we see. First that makes a huge impression is the carbon fiber infused body.

This lightweight element is also used extensively for the interior. Double spoke wheels in the color of the car are also there as well as the contrasting red emblems of the brand.

Interior

Inside, Rezvani Motors is keeping it simple for their Beast. On 29th of May, the company released the first image of the interior which includes only the basics.

The carbon fiber steering wheel has the emblem of the company (Rezvani Motors features wings representing the aviation roots, and racing stripes and steering wheel displaying company’s passion for driving), carbon-fiber gear-shift lever, leather wrapped dash and alloy pedals. But there is also a special feature – the infotainment system with Apple CarPlay for Seamless Smartphone Integration. This means that your iPhone multimedia could be effortlessly integrated into the vehicle. The system allows sending and receiving calls and texts, use of Siri voice control software and music streaming, and even more.

Drivetrain

As a matter of fact, the supercar uses the Ariel Atom chassis, features carbon fiber body and will be driven by either the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 315 hp (235 kW) or the supercharged 2.4-liter unit with 500 hp (372 kW). Driving the rear wheels will be the six-speed manual transmission.

2015 Liberty Walk Lamborghini Aventador is a one-off soupercar which has been crafted by the hands of the specialists at SR Auto Group. Striving to bring you the best, the Canadian experts has just revealed this insane Aventador. Their goal was to create something sleek and refined.

This is why this Lambo isn’t painted in some strange color and in fact it exudes elegance and class. However, the traditional black color was perfectly contrasted by the shiny matte silver PUR LX wheels that come in size of 20×9 at the front and 21×13 at the rear. They also feature polished lip.

Nissan Murano with more Accolades and Sales Records

2015 Nissan Murano was introduced in the end of last year and since then it has gathered a lot of accolades, prestigious awards and achieved new sales records. The latest trophy in its collection is the “Best Crossover” in the Parentsmagazine and Edmunds.com annual listing of the “10 Best Family Cars”. Just like before, the top cars for the new year were chosen by the Parents and Edmunds.com editors. They have considered their safety, convenience and high-tech performance features.

Recently, Nissan Murano also received another very important award. It has been selected as an IIHS “Top Safety Pick Plus” ranking. In terms of sales, those of the 2015 Nissan Murano increased 58.3 percent in May and continued growing. These numbers are in comparison to the same periods in the last calendar year. Fiat 500X Rainbow with Special Mission in Detroit

Fiat 500X Rainbow is a special edition of FCA’s supermini, which has been created for a special purpose and has a special mission. Since Fiat brand is a key sponsor of Motor City Pride parade and festival in Detroit, it decided to support the event with one-off 500X edition, dressed in red and carrying the colors of the rainbow. The six colors, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, have been applied starting from the front, covering the front bumper and grille, and continuing onto the roof and ending at the rear.

The lower parts of the two doors have been also given the rainbow treatment as well as those parts up of the rear wheels. The mission: the specially wrapped all-wheel-drive 2016 Fiat 500X, lead many of Michigan’s 300 same-sex couples, as grand marshal of the Motor City Pride parade.

Fiat 500X Rainbow front

2016 Fiat 500X is company’s fist 500 model offered with all-wheel drive. In its engine range there are four petrols and three diesels. Precisely, the front-wheel drive, petrol-powered models are either equipped with a 110 hp (81 kW) 1.6-litre “E-torQ” engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox or a 140 hp (103 kW) 1.4-litre Turbo MultiAir II petrol engine with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed twin-clutch transmission.

Speaking of the all-wheel drive petrol models, they are powered by the 170 hp (125 kW) 1.4-litre Turbo MultiAir II engine or the 184 hp (135 kW) 2.4-litre Tigershark engine. Each of them is mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission as standard.

The diesel range comprises of 95 hp (70 kW) 1.3-litre MultiJet II turbo diesel with five-speed manual, and 120 hp (88 kW) 1.6-litre MultiJet II turbo diesel equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox. The four-wheel drive diesel unit is the 140 hp (103 kW) 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbo diesel, with either a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmission.
