  • Geneva Debuting Subaru XV Concept Previews Future Design Direction

Subaru XV Concept Front ViewSubaru XV Concept that was teased last month via exclusive images is finally being revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. As you already know from the previous news about the XV Concept crossover, it actually previews the design direction for the next generation vehicles of the brand. Of course, it is the preview-form of the new XV compact crossover.

To go into details, the XV Concept embodies Subaru’s new ‘DYNAMIC X SOLID’ design philosophy. This includes solid, robust appearance and raised ground clearance and of course, the All-Wheel Drive capability that is famous for the vehicles of the brand. The sides of the model are sleek, mimicking a normal car but at the same time staying a true crossover.

The muscular body and forms are sized 4.520mm in length, 1.920mm in width, 1.570mm in height and a wheelbase of 2.670mm. These dimensions speak of added practicality. The surfaces of the body are divided by two strong character lines. The first one extends from the front bumper, along the doors and into the rear shoulder, while the second one rises from the lower half of the doors towards the rear of the car.

The front end includes Subaru’s signature hexagonal grille and ‘hawk-eye’ headlamps, matt black body cladding running from the front bumper and going over the wheel arches, and speaking of the sides there are side sills tat flow into the rear bumper. The back of the crossover concept is wide, low and stable and matt black-clad rear bumpers and combination lamps with the same design motif as the ‘hawk-eye’ headlamps.

The paint finish you see here is specifically developed for the concept and is called ‘Glacier Khaki Silica’. Contrasting orange accents appear on the grille, front and rear bumpers, 19-inch aluminium wheels and roof rails. At last, the alloys were fitted with tires sized at 245/50 R19.

  • Futuristic Subaru XV Concept with World Premiere in Geneva

Subaru XV Concept TeaserSubaru XV Concept is going to be premiered at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The news was just officially released by Japanese brand with a preview picture of the front of the new concept model. It is visible that it has a little to do with the production XV (the one featured in the news feed yesterday) and shows more futuristic take on the standard for the XV crossover design.

To make a promotion of the car, Subaru is also releasing a webspecial site, dedicated to the concept and everything happening at the Geneva Motor Show, which has been already opened and can be now visited. It features information regarding the Geneva Motor Show and allows everyone to watch “live” Subaru’s press conference.

SEE ALSO: 2016 Subaru XV and a Fresh Fairytale of Stylish Facelift

The XV Concept will probably serve as a basis to a future next generation XV. Although we don’t see much from the design of the teaser image, we are quite happy to find the modern interpretation of the front. And hopefully, Subaru won’t change a thing in the production variant.

In addition, Subaru confirmed that the XV will also ride on the same platform used for the Impreza. There is nothing said on the engine, but the concept is likely to be a hybrid or to exploit some new sort of updated engine in terms of efficiency and fumes. For example, a downsized engine is a possible variant.

If we are lucky, we will have more information about the new XV Concept days ahead of the Geneva International Motor Show. Speaking of which, its 86th annual edition opens for public on March 3rd and continues until 13th. The Subaru XV Concept will be unveiled at a press conference on March 1, which you can view online.

  • 2016 Subaru XV And a Fresh Fairytale of Stylish Facelift

2016 Subaru XV FaceliftSubaru announced details for the revised XV compact crossover , now coming with even more stylish exterior, enhanced cabin quality and tons of additional gadgets. As you know, since the introduction back in 2012, the XV became one of Subaru’s most advanced and popular vehicles, thanks to the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and the overall excellent off-road capabilities.

The recent updates include suspension fine-tuning, and quicker and more direct steering rack that contributes to smoother and more responsive vehicle control. But let’s waste no more time and check out some of the cool details.

The higher quality cabin and the fresh infotainment system

Some of the most notable changes include high-quality components, the new 7.0-inch touch screen and the advanced navigation system. Also, the changes include the adoption of fresh metallic and piano black trim and contrast stitching.

The 2016 XV also features and extra USB port which allows passengers to listen to music from one USB device, while charging another at the same time. Cool.

    Enhanced efficiency capabilities

The vehicle continues to be offered with a choice of two horizontally-opposed, four-cylinder Boxer engines: the 2.0-liter petrol and the 2.0-liter diesel engines, paired to either six-speed manual or six speed CVT automatic gearbox.

The changes are simple and effective. Long story short, the drivetrain system is with 4 per cent more efficient, compared to its predecessor, thanks to some virtuoso engineering solutions and ideas. But this doesn’t mean that Subaru team lowered the performance stats. They remain high and challenging: the modified engines produce a total of 147hp (108kW) and 350Nm of torque and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 9.3 seconds.

    2016 Subaru XV Facelift

Furthermore, Subaru introduced and the revised 150hp (110kW) 2.0-liter naturally-aspired petro unit. It now offers 2% better fuel efficiency and is mated to Subaru’s smooth-shifting Lineartronic transmission.

    Appealing and beautiful

As part of the 2016 improvements, Subaru also revised some of the exterior features of the vehicle. The XV still proudly demonstrates the signature and well-known stand, but the front now features updated hawk-eye headlights and restyled front grille and bumper.

The rear also benefits from some slight changes as a discreet boot spoiler and LED taillamps. And let’s not forget the black and silver diamond cut aluminum alloy wheels that further enhance the refreshed exterior.

And last, but not least, there are two additional colors to compliment the facelift: Hyper Blue and Dark Blue Metallic.

  • 2014 Subaru XV Receives Number Of Upgrades

2014-Subaru-XV-THUMB2014 Subaru XV was revealed two years ago, and now comes with strengthened capabilities and enhanced for the MY2014. The SUV has been improved in terms of handling, safety and cabin quality.

The suspension modifications which enhance ride quality have been added to all petrol variants. In addition, there have been also included new valve-train components that reduce engine noise. The electronic power steering system has been refined and now delivers better stability.

The new inflating dynamic damper system on the other hand minimizes steering wheel and column vibration. This system has been finely tuned and provides more weight, greater straight-line steering feel and a more linear steering response. The thicker, reshaped front suspension lower-arm and reinforcements around the base of the A-pillar serve to guarantee enhanced safety.

Inside, the cabin also received numerous updates such as the Subaru logo on the steering wheel, higher-quality silver surrounds housing the steering wheel buttons and heater controls, and new gloss-black switches which control the air-conditioning system.

As a standard now come the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and instrument cluster Gear Shift Indicator, which enhance safety and driver’s convenience. Two new exterior paint finishes have been added to the existing five, namely – Venetian Red Pearl and Quartz Blue Pearl.

Furthermore, Subaru did not make any changes to the equipment of the XV SE models. Therefore they will keep the auto lights and wipers, 17 inch alloy wheels, xenon headlamps with pop-up wash, Hill Start Assist, dual–zone air conditioning, knee airbags, rear vision camera and Bluetooth. There will be no longer a Lux Premium trim level, because it has been replaced by the new SE Premium that adds satellite navigation and leather interior.

At last, 2014 Subaru XV will come as a standard with a permanent All-Wheel Drive. The model also has the highest ground clearance and is among the lightest vehicles in its class, It features a low centre of gravity that enhances the on-road handling.

  • 2012 Subaru XV – “SUV of the Year”

The new 2012 Subaru XV is winner in one of the hardest-fought categories in a special ‘4×4 of the Year’ issue.  The SUV market has expanded rapidly in recent years with the proliferation of compact crossovers, and 4×4 Magazine placed Subaru’s latest All-Wheel Drive model ahead of key rivals from Audi, Kia, Mazda, Nissan and Volkswagen.

The Subaru XV range starts at £21,295 on the road and is available with 1.6 petrol manual or CVT, 2.0 petrol manual or CVT and 2.0D manual options.

“The SUV class in 4×4 Magazine’s 4×4 of the Year test is one of the most competitive.  The Subaru XV was an interesting new arrival in that class, which did much to impress judges.”, commented Nigel Fryatt, Editor, 4×4 Magazine.

“For a vehicle which obviously spends most of its time on-road, it is such an enjoyable drive, involving the driver in a positive manner.  It also boasts promising fuel economy potential.  When we took it off-road, given the obvious limitations of ground clearance, the Subaru completed our test route with ease.  But what clinched it for the XV was Subaru’s Everything Taken Care of customer service package, which has to be one of the best around.”, he finished.

  • Subaru XV Crosstrek at New York

Subaru-XV-Crosstrek-thumbFuji Heavy Industries, or Subaru if you like, plan to introduce the XV, first seen at the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show back in September 2011, to the US market. It will be known as the XV Crosstrek and will have a specification made fit for the States.

Being a “compact SUV”, the Subaru XV Crosstrek is actually an elevated Impreza that will be the replacement of the current Subaru Outback. Supposedly, it has good ground clearance (8.7 inches of it), a comfy ride and a dynamic feel. For power, it used a 2.0 liter flat Boxer petrol engine that sends torque to all fours. And thanks to a Linetronic CVT transmission, Subaru claim that the XV can return 33 mpg on the highway.

In America, there will be two trim levels – Premium and Limited with the latter bringing advanced interactivity thanks to a 6.1-inch touch screen, multi-function navigation system.

The US debut will be made at the 2012 New York International Auto Show which is set to kick off on the sixth of April. Subaru’s press conference will be the day before at 9:55 am.

  • Subaru XV Price – from £21,295

2012-Subaru-XV-thumbThe Subaru XV is getting even more close to assuming the position of one of the most value-for-money crossovers in the world. The office in the UK has released a list of specifications, trimmings and prices with the lowest one starting at £21,295 for the 1.6i S model (the base one).

The XV boasts a considerable amount of occupant safety (especially for children) while remaining stylish and practical without an effort. Two very important highlights give it away that it is a Subaru: A Boxer engine and a Symmetrical AWD. In other words we have a great centre of gravity and a brain that ensures the best possible grip under a variety of conditions.

Power comes from three Euro 5 power plants – 1.6 and 2.0-litre petrol, and 2.0-litre diesel.  The 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines develop 114ps and 150ps respectively, while the 2.0-litre diesel produces 147ps and 350Nm. All those figures can go after that trough a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox, depending on customer choice

Null to sixty is done in 9.3 seconds with the 2.0 diesel. It gets even more impressive when we know that it offers a class-leading fuel economy of 50.4mpg on the combined cycle and  emits 146g/km of CO2. The petrol units also go easy on the precious liquid as they benefit from Subaru’s Auto Start Stop System for non-diesels. Seamless cut out/kick off guaranteed.

    Subaru XV (2012)

The features which are included in the entry model, the S, are just mind boggling –  ABS, traction control, Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control (SVDC), front, side, curtain and knee airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, daytime LED running lights and automatic air conditioning as standard. To step it up a notch, the SE adds cruise control, rear-view camera, Bluetooth functionality and USB/iPod connectivity to all the standard equipment while the SE Lux leather seats and satellite navigation, a start button, sunroof and keyless entry.

  • 2012 Subaru XV

Subaru has announced its XV model at the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle will hit the market in just 2 months with pre selling, and first deliveries mid January 2012. The price list is not announced, yet.

The fundamental product concept that Subaru adopted for the XV is “Urban Adventure.” In specific terms, a vehicle that would be perfectly suited to exciting, lively, yet stress-free use in the city. Thus, Subaru balanced optimal performance factors such as fuel efficiency and enjoyable driving (Fun to Drive) with a stylish, highly distinctive exterior design.

The exterior boasts a stylish, flowing form with a high body and side cladding that enhances the sense of functionality of SUV. There are a hexagon grille and hawk eye headlights at the front.

The corners of the front and rear bumpers were designed with special edges that enhance the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle and also contribute to better fuel efficiency

Inside, you will find horizontally styled instrument panel, luxury materials – leather, metal, and cloth. There is a large 4.3” full-colour LCD equipped with advanced infotainment such as eco-driving display and vehicle information display which supports the driver in a great many ways.

The engine range includes 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre petrol models. Together with the adoption of the new Lineartronic (CVT), a newly developed “Auto Start Stop System”, the fuel efficiency was further improved. Also the Subaru Boxer Diesel, which was specially developed for the European market and received very favourable reviews, is featured in the XV line-up and is the most likely model to arrive in Ireland.

    Safety:

    • By integrating the partition windows into the front doors and putting the door mirrors on the door panels, top-level forward visibility in this class was achieved, and blind angles were reduced. A stylish profile with a more streamlined rear roof edge was designed without impairing the rear field of view.
    • In addition to SRS driver’s/passenger’s airbags, SRS side airbags and SRS curtain airbags, SRS driver’s knee airbag are installed as standard in all models.
    • VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control) is installed in all models as standard. Its intervention timing was optimised and incorporates control logic that demonstrates effectiveness in danger avoidance situations. A brake assist function is also incorporated into the VDC system. This provides the XV with world leading danger avoidance performance and increases driving confidence.
