  • Jaguar Introduces XK Signature And Dynamic R Special Editions

Jaguar-XK-Signature-THUMBTwo special edition Jaguar XK models are now being introduced by the brand. The Signature and Dynamic R specification are to be available in Coupé and Convertible form and will add impressive performance technologies and luxury features.

Jaguar XK Signature model focuses on luxury. It is equipped with a 5.0-litre V8 engine which produces 385 hp (283 kW). The car is fitted with standard 20” Kalimnos wheels and Reverse Park Camera. On the other hand XK Dynamic R, which is based on the existing XKR, focuses on performance. It is equipped with a 5.0-litre supercharged powertrain capable of delivering 510 horsepower (375 kW). This variant also offers Black Dynamic Pack that comprises of XKR-S suspension and dynamics and a 10mm reduction in ride height, as well as Speed Pack, which consists of an Aerodynamic Pack and an increased top speed of 174 mph. Standard equipment here is also the Performance Active Exhaust.

Precisely, the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine offers not only great power but also enhanced fuel efficiency. The reason for this is that incorporates spray-guided direct injection (SGDI) and dual independent variable cam timing (DIVCT). Furthermore, the engine has been constructed from lightweight aluminum, which in the cylinder heads is recycled to minimize the environmental impact.

The other impressive detail here is that the XK Signature reaches 100 km/h from standstill in 5.2 seconds, and produces 515 Nm (380 lb-ft) of torque. The top speed here is 155 mph while the CO2 emissions are rated at 264 g/km.

The XK Dynamic R’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 offers torque figures 625 Nm (461 lb-ft), taking the car to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. Although this Jaguar is extremely powerful, it also offers great efficiency and 292g/km CO2 emissions.

Both variants are quipped with a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox with steering wheel-mounted paddles, which control Jaguar’s Sequential Shift function for greater driver control. Dynamic R edition has an advantage: it features Jaguar’s Active Differential Control technology, which utilizes a multiplate clutch to vector torque to the driven wheel with the most grip. XK Signature on the other hand uses a mechanical differential, which delivers outstanding levels of grip and stability under power.

Both cars are fitted with Dynamic Stability Control system. The latter has four modes: Normal, Winter, TracDSC and DSC Off. The double wishbone front suspension on both models includes a fully-machined steering knuckle, while the rear suspension features rear wheel steer that has been optimized for maximum agility.

Furthermore, the XK Dynamic R comes as a standard with a Black Dynamic Pack. The latter comprises of suspension technology, Adaptive Dynamics, lowered ride height by 10mm. The other standard pack here is the Speed Pack, which increases the maximum speed from 155 mph to 174 mph, and also features a body-coloured Aerodynamic Pack with front splitter and larger rear spoiler body-coloured rear diffuser and side sill extensions. A Performance Active Exhaust is also fitted as standard here.

The interior of the Signature is given Luxury seats in the choice of Ivory or Charcoal soft grain leather. It also features Canvas Suedecloth headlining, Figured Ebony veneers and Bright Metal sport pedals. The XK Dynamic R on the other hand is fitted with sewn Performance seat in either Ivory/Charcoal soft grain leather with Ivory contrast stitch or Charcoal/Red soft grain leather with Red contrast stitch leather. The interior Jet Suedecloth headliner is complemented with Piano Black veneers, while Bright Metal sport pedals come also as standard.

Both variants run on 20 inch wheels. In case of the XK Signature they are Kalimnos or Takoba wheels, while XK Dynamic R has the Vortex diamond turned wheels with distinctive Red painted brake calipers as well as Vulcan Gloss Black lightweight alloys.

Jaguar will offer both the XK Signature and Dynamic R editions in the choice of the following exterior colors: Polaris White, Ultimate Black, Stratus Grey, Italian Racing Red, Dark Sapphire and British Racing Green.

  • Jaguar 12my Range Goes On-Sale Today

The fastest and most efficient production Jaguars ever created go on-sale today.

The new XF 2.2, capable of travelling in excess of 800-miles on a single tank of diesel while emitting just 149 g/km of CO2 is joined by the XKR-S – a car that can accelerate from rest to 100 mph in 8.7 seconds before reaching an electronically limited 186 mph.

Each model forms part of the new Jaguar 12MY programme of upgrades and improvements that sees the XF take on an elegant new look with extensive panel changes including the bonnet, front and rear lights and bumpers, front wings and improvements to the interior switchgear, the navigation system and seats.  The relentless programme of engineering and design enhancements help ensure the XF, named ‘Car of the Decade’ by owners contributing to the Auto Express Driver Power survey, remains highly competitive in its class.

Similarly, the XK range benefits from a series of changes. A new, larger front grille is framed by a set of slim new headlight units, new horizontal front wing vents, new wheel designs and changes to the rear lights.  For the first time bucket seats will be offered on the car while the interior features new trim finishes to further raise the levels of comfort and refinement.

The new 12MY range is launched at an exciting time for Jaguar as it prepares to unveil the next stage in its bold, product-led strategy for growth at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

  • Jaguar Reveals New XKR And XFR At Detroit Auto Show 2009

Jaguar has revealed the new XKR and XFR at the Detroit Auto Show 2009 – two cars that are true to the heritage of Jaguar’s legendary performance, delivering a superb balance of high performance, dynamic ability and refinement.

Mike O’Driscoll, Managing Director of Jaguar Cars said: “We’ve started 2009 with the introduction of advanced new generation petrol and diesel engines that set new benchmarks in terms of performance, economy and efficiency, including a new diesel for the XF that offers a marked improvement in CO2 and fuel economy. XF and XFR 2010 MY

The XF has already secured ‘Car of the Year’ awards from two major UK automotive magazines and more than 30 other commendations worldwide, so the new XFR, a new high performance diesel and a host of changes for the 2010 Model Year, including the launch of the new luxurious ‘Portfolio’ model, will make the XF an even more attractive proposition.

Featuring all-new AJ-V8 Gen III petrol engines and new AJ-V6D Gen III diesel engines, the XF now delivers more power and more performance with comparable or better fuel economy and emissions than the engines they supersede.

The XFR is powered by the all-new supercharged 510PS (510bhp SAE) V8 with acceleration from 0-60mph in just 4.7 seconds making it the ultimate Jaguar sport saloon. A naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8, producing 385PS, powers other V8 XF models.

The long wheelbase XJ is now available with a 2.7-litre diesel engine making it an even stronger competitor in the ever-growing chauffeur market and even though an all-new Mercedes S-Class has been launched this year, Business Car readers voted the XJ ‘Luxury Car of the Year’ for the second year running.”

    Excellent value-for-money across the range

Enhancements to the XJ product range in the UK simplify the line-up to four trim levels, all offering customers improved value-for-money: Executive, Sovereign, Sport Premium and XJR.

In addition to the other changes being made to the whole range, these cars now feature a heated front screen as standard, body-coloured power vents and 19” Carelia wheels – a ten-spoke alloy first seen on the XK. Importantly the XJ 08MY Executive models remain competitively priced with the 3.0 petrol starting from £43,540 and the 2.7 diesel from £45,520.

XJ Sovereign (3.0-litre V6 petrol and 2.7-litre diesel, 4.2-litre V8) – The Sovereign adds to the Executive specification with 16-way electric heated front seats, soft-grain leather, satellite navigation system and Bi-Xenon headlights. XJ Sport Premium (2.7-litre diesel) – The Sport Premium benefits from the styling changes across the range with the addition of body-coloured power vents. Adding to the Executive specification, the Sport Premium features ‘R’ seats with leather seat facings as standard, aluminium veneer, black side window surrounds, Cremona 20” alloy wheels and satellite navigation. The 2.7-litre diesel will be priced from £51,520.

XJR (4.2 Supercharged V8) – Adding to the styling changes across the range, the XJR offers increased value through aluminium finish power vents, a new ‘R’ logo gearknob, black painted brake callipers and heated front seats featuring a cooling option as standard. The XJR will be priced from £60,150.

Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity commented: “Like the new XK, the XJ is engineered to provide relaxing and refined ride quality, yet can deliver highly capable dynamic qualities when required. The stiff lightweight aluminium structure allows for increased performance and great agility, particularly in our XJR which is a true performance car, yet is inherently quiet, refined and comfortable.”

In summary, XJ 08MY provides a series of stylish specification enhancements across the range that deliver an excellent value-for-money proposition for customers.
